A beautiful book about my favorite artist, Jessie Arms Botk
Jessie Arms Botke, a famous 20th Century artist, painted in Chicago and Monterey before settling in Ventura County with her husband, Cornelis Botke, also a famous painter and etcher. This book is lavishly illustrated with the most beautiful of her paintings and murals. The artistic analysis is most helpful and emphasizes the profound influence of Japanese art on Botke's style and palatte. This book is a great introduction to Jessie Botke's art and life.

The most exciting birthday celebration ever
Birthday Zoo is a joyful picture book by Deborah Lee Rose about the most exciting birthday celebration ever. A whimsical poem about fun activities suggested by various playful animal friends, and cheerful color illustrations by Lynn Munsinger make Birthday Zoo an upbeat, entertaining, and highly recommended picture book for beginning readers.

A ZOO-FULL OF GREETINGS
What do children enjoy more than a birthday party? Young folks find a visit to the zoo exciting. The combination of the two in "Birthday Zoo" is bound to bring smiles of delight.

Illustrated in engaging watercolors and presented in catchy rhyme, the story opens with a question, "'Hey, what's the big deal?'" noticed the seal." When it's discovered that the big deal is a birthday preparations begin.

"'What do we do?' asked the emu. 'Make everyone happy,' said the okapi." And that's precisely what this joyful narrative will do as balloons are blown up, party hats distributed, and refreshments served.

At the last, imagine being wished happy birthday by a whole zoo!

Bitter Reunion
This is a very suspenseful story. Well written, with good imaginative description. Couldn't put it down. Can hardly wait for the next one. Thanks

Exciting Christian Suspense!!
A unique new Christian suspense novel, Bitter Reunion is a page-turning chronicle of a father, Todd Hamilton, separated from the son he loves. After this devastating loss, he moves on to rebuild his life and eventually gains a new family. His son, Joey, has been led to believe that Todd has abandoned him. His mother raises him in an environment of lies and deceit where he eventually takes on a new name, David. When David and his new "adoptive" father accidentally learn of Todd's whereabouts, they together plot a scheme to end their financial woes and exact revenge on Todd at the same time.
Well developed characters and an interesting plot make it difficult to put this book down as Todd and David are inescapably drawn together in a "Bitter Reunion." Nail-biting suspense infused with Christian values and spiritual truth make this book a rare find. First-time author Debbie Barlow has created a story as intriguing and well-written as the works of established authors Frank Peretti and John Grisham.

Bonsai: Its Art, Science, History and Philosophy
Published in Hardcover by Timber Pr (1984)
Author: Deborah R. Koreshoff
Amazon base price: $49.95
Used price: $50.00

Comprehensive coverage for beginners to experts
This text was the one i'd been searching for so long. I've purchased a dozen bonsai books over the years and finally found Koreshoff's book. It's straight foreward, simple, and explains so many things i'd been confused about that other bonsai books don't touch on like the philosophical purpose of the shapes of trees. Bottom line is this: you can get many bonsai books and get close to what Koreshoff has done, or you can purchase hers and be done. You won't regret it.

A compendium of practical and innovative bonsai techniques.
With few color photographs but many excellent line drawings and lucid writing, the author covers all the essentials. The techniques presented are both practical and innovative. The chapters on shaping, soil, and styling are exceptional. Only Naka's two volume set rivals this publication.

Absolutely awesome! Super novel with no bull.
If you liked King Rat, you'll be mesmerized with Cabanatuan. Unbelievable and extremely descriptive.

The truth be told.
If there was a question about whether the Enola Gay should have been displayed in the Smithsonian Institution "Cabanatuan, Murder Under the Sun" answers it nicely. After reading this gut wrenching true story about the mistreatment of our prisoners held by Japan during WWII, I have no compassion for this country. If I remember correctly, they started the bloody fray and we finished it. If you are tired of the white washed politically correct versions of WWII and Japan's treatment of our American Prisoners buy this book.

Even better than the first book
I read this book when it was first published and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really interesting to me. I bought additional copies as gifts for nieces and nephews, who loved it. Having known the author (from aerobics classes) I looked forward to this historically correct novel. As I now buy a copy for my nanny's son, I anxiously await any new additions to her series. Ms Scott's writing will engage your child. Your kids will like reading her book!!

Captivating! Entertaining! Exciting!
As a sequel, this book is definitely NOT a disappointment! Once again we are back with Flattop learning the Medieval lifestyle, but are plunged into a journey across the land as William must go to pay his loyalty to his brother James. Flattop follows along meeting many different characters along the way. The book weaves a tale of adventure and deception that finds the reader frustrated for Flattop and for William who is stuck in a class system that cannot easily be swayed. What will they do? Does happiness really matter? I recently read this book to a group of Grade 5 students who thoroughly enjoyed it, and were always begging for more!!! Congratulations Deborah! You've done it again! I recommend it to all those who have read "The Kid Who Got Zapped Through Time"

Deborah Hansen Linzer
Two years ago while living in Phoenix, Arizona I met Deborah Hansen Linzer through a favorite aunt of mine by the name of Kathryn who is living in Masa, Arizona. Kathryn took me to a lecture given by Deborah Hansen Linzer telling us about her book: "Cameo Life Stories Writing Guide for Everywoman: Penning Your Portrait in Words."
I joined eight other women and began writing and answering the ninty some questions on my life. The process was very rewarding and will never be forgotten. It took me two years to write this life story down. It now has been printed and is ready to be given as a gift to my daughter Brigit in time and has been sent to the National Museum of Women's History in Washington, D.C. In time research and an analysis will be done of my life time of 1942 to 2082. I highly recommend that you read this book and do it. Judy Joyce, Pikesville, Maryland

Life in Your Words
Any modern woman probably has a photograph of herself. Think of the one you have. Are there at least 1,000 words behind it? Of course! There are one thousand and more if you would just write them!

Everyone contributes something to history, and this book helps to celebrate that fact by encouraging women to write about what they have lived. In addition, this book tells how you can have your life story put into a collection kept in conjunction with the National Museum of Women's History in Washington, D.C.

Every life story is as different as the woman who lived it, and every life story written and submitted to the project is as unique. You may choose to use the guide to give short answers to questions relating to your life, or you may choose to give elaborate answers to as many or as few of the questions as you wish to record. You may even wish to submit your life story anonymously to the museum.

This book will be very useful to the reader who wishes to leave a legacy of words about her life. There are tips on working with your memories, writing descriptively, and even setting up a group to meet regularly as writers of life stories. The best part of the book are excerpts from life stories written by women who have used the questionnaire.

A Great Read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - had a hard time putting it down, even. Captain Dempsey never whines about the difficulties she encountered as a female in a man's world - she just tells an interesting story.

Excellent book, well edited, very interesting
In addition to providing a timely and very interesting account of a woman's life in a man's world, this book gives us an "insider's" look at life on a sea-going cargo vessel and colorful accounts of the ports visited. Beautifully written and well edited. Go to sea with Deborah and Joanne! You'll enjoy the voyage!

Delightful reading
This book is a delight to read, both for the breadth of events included and for the writing itself. Some events are clearly important - such as the founding of the ILGWU - others are less well-known, such as the passing of the Sheppard-Towner Act, the first federally funded health program. Ms Felder's dry wit lightens some topics, like the history of the bra and the premiere of Ozzie and Harriet, but she keeps her focus on the deeper significance. Events are chronological, so you can read straight through or browse -- and enjoy the photos and art too.

Must Read for Anyone Interested in Am. in the 20th Century
This is a truly impressive performance that synthesizes an amazing amount of information to highlight the crucial developments women made in America in the 20th century and the factors that affected not just women but all of us. Impressively researched and gracefully written, the book is a must, particularly for mothers to give their daughters and vice versa.

Well done, Ms. Felder, and keep up the good work.

Child and Adolescent Psychological Disorders: A Comprehensive Textbook (Oxford Textbooks in Clinical Psychology, Vol 4)

An excellent, research-based resource.
In studying psychopathology I have come to appreciate that there is a world of difference between how an adult presents, and how a child presents. I firmly believe that counselor training programs should focus on child psychopathology in addition to studying general psychopathology, and this book should be used as the primary text.

This book goes a long way in illuminating the differences in children's mental health issues. Child psychology is in another universe and the practioner would do well to consult this comprehensive resource that contains articles by leading practioners in the field.

Comprehensive, brilliant discussion of a major social issue
Perhaps the most crucial social issue of our time is addressed in as comprehensive and skillful a manner as I have seen. Of particular value is chapter 21, "Impulse Control Disorders Not Elsewhere Classified," wherein Steven Thurber and associate, clarify and successfully delineate a long-time problem within the monumentally crucial arena of Disorders of the Young. This specific chapter, in tandem with the overall approach of the book, affords the reader the valuable distinction between generally accepted mythical and unsubstantiated beliefs (i.e., beliefs that are almost "Hollywood-like" portrayals and "theories" of human behavior), and scientifically demonstrated and supported realities of the human condition.
