Gives you the big picture
This book is a quick and easy read. While not all that technical, I found the book very informative. It gave me ways to look at my own marketing from the outside in. As another reviewer said the story makes the points stick out so much better, like watching a good movie.
Even if you have been in the biz for a while, this book will help you to revalute your own operation.
Points covered include starting your marketing from the inside out and planning from the end of promotions to the beginning. There are many more points covered in the story and I am sure I will be reading this book many more times.

Truly the most down to earth and easily comprehended marketing book I have purchased.

Awaken to common sense, without being insulted
This book is a very good read for those of us in restaurant management who do not necessarily have a MBA in marketing. The narrative approach is actually easier to absorb and comprehend. It actually had me thinking to myself, "this is all common sense and I should have known better" frequently throughout. That is not to say that the author is condescending though, I just think I will tend to remember the important points better when I can think back on the stories instead of textbook theories. Great read for anyone who needs to do their own local marketing - which is all of us.

A fictional narative on learning restaurant marketing
Reading this book takes you by the hand and leads you to discover that the "great idea" you had can lead to disaster unless you think the whole marketing thing through. It isn't immediately obvious just what the whole marketing thing is, for a restaurant. This narrative approach leads you into gradual discovery of a ten step approach to thinking about restaurant or other business marketing. No academic theory, but pretty practical ideas and discussions. Gets the job done far better than a textbook - which doesn't really help most of us

A comprehensive, A to Z encyclopedia of horses
Horse lovers and owners should have the Horse-Lover's Encyclopedia as a home mainstay, while public libraries located anywhere near a rural area should have the Horse-Lover's Encyclopedia on their reference shelf. This is a comprehensive, A to Z encyclopedia of horses, from breeds and horse care to stable lore, and provides all kinds of details on everything from caring for hooves to performance and rodeo competition training. Small photos and diagrams throughout make for an excellent, basic handbook on the horse.

An excellant choice
A very comprehensive book, with about 500 pages and tons of information. The definitions are a little short, but they get to the point and when more information is needed it can usually be found. After only a few minutes with the book, i found that everything is cross-referenced and easy to find. I had picked this up as an impulse buy, but don't regret it in the least. The articles (when they are detailed) are very unbiased (for example- an equal comparison between English and western riding styles... not a very common find.) This book is perfect for both the new rider and experienced horse owner.

Very Good!
This book covered so much about horses!! Being a begginer I didnt know a lot about horses but when I got this book I learned so much! My instructor was so surprized and happy! Anyone who wants to know anything about horses should buy this book!

A Great Read!
How to describe the charm of Mossy Creek? By turns hilarious and heartwarming, Mossy Creek is populated with the funniest, homiest, sometimes orneryist bunch of characters south of the Mason-Dixon line. If you like Southern humor and superb writing, go on down to Mossy Creek!

Fine MOSSY CREEK tale
If the Lovin' Spoonful had been in the Georgia village of Mossy Creek rather than Greenwich Village, they would know that hot time, summer in the mountains means plenty of fun, ole southern style. The townsfolk look for a quiet uneventful season, but also know their enemy in slimy Bigelow still remains on the prowl. Meanwhile the librarian pushes the Police Chief into bluffing an abusive parent while the Mayor leads by example applying common sense to seemingly difficult problems. Much of the townsfolk meet eating dessert at the diner, but along with fans will find hot fun in the summertime here.

The third Mossy Creek tale is a series of vignettes written by a virtual whose who of the irons maidens of the south (more talented than steel magnolias). The contributions differ in size while providing a slice of life in a small remote Georgia mountain town. Each story builds up on the previous contribution so that the audience receives an anthology that uses the best elements of a novel and that of a short story into a tremendous collection. SUMMER IN MOSSY CREEK holds its own with its superb predecessors. Fans of the series already know that the first two books flow smoothly; the third tale shares in common with the previous duo a southern comfort smoothness.

Mayberry meets Picket Fences
This charming small town series really comes into its own with the third book, Summer In Mossy Creek. It has something for everyone--laughter, tears, romance, and the cozy appeal of lovable eccentrics.

There's a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake

Our Favourite Book
This book has been the favourite in our house for a long time.It has been read so many times, it is known by heart. A great book to share with the 3-8 year olds.

A Powerful Book
In my view, this book is about power and sorting out boundaries.Being a little kid sometimes makes you feel powerless: everyone is bigger and can do more things than you. Imagining yourself , or an ally , to be equally or more powerful is part of growing up. It is also fun to imagine a world where there are no limitations e.g. you can eat cake all the time. And instead of being scared by noises at night on the roof, it is much more comforting to imagine that it is your big powerful friend, the Hippo. That's why kids love this series of books about the cake-eating hippo.

Simplicity with Layers
Simplicity with layers underneath is the essence of a picture book and this book has both. I don't want to read War and Peace with our kids. I want to share a story which seems simple on the surface, is heaps of fun, but which gives you something to talk about with your kids. Our children both LOVED Hippo on the Roof and they came back again and again to the concept of the kid's alter ego having all the freedom she craved. They even picked up on the fact that the cake and other things she wanted were not always that good for her. (I swear I didn't coach them...) Lots of kids have imaginary friends, not many of them have hippos on their roof. I bet they wished they did.

Searching for Answers
At the end of a long search for an answer to extreme fatigue, I found Thyroid Balance by Dr. Rothfeld. The language is clear and understandable, yet indepth and a little technical. This book spoke to me about my symptoms - there they were in print! And it gave enough detailed information to help me and my doctor determine the answer I'd been searching for. Very informative, analytical, easy to understand and follow, and a great resource for me.

Great book!! Very informative and in-depth. A must have!
I was diagnosed with Hashi's in September of 2002 and didn't know much about it. I looked at several books, but didn't learn much. I found this book and there is so much information. It is written in easy to understand language, and really goes deep into everything you ever wanted to know about the thyroid, treatments, and almost every other question something with their thyroid out of balance wants to know. This book is not just for people with Hashi's, but for everyone with their thyroid out of balance. I definitely recommend it.

Excellent Information About Throid Problems
I have had issues with throid imbalance for over twenty years and this is the best book I have ever read on this subject. The information is thorough, clear and easy to understand. I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks thay they may have throid imbalance. I even sent a copy to my son.

Dog Show World Explained
Interesting, well-paced examination of the dog show world, spotlighting the best-known show in the US. I liked the author's focus on several "top dogs" from the 2001 show -- I really got involved in their stories, and appreciated the updates at the end (love Henry the Field Spaniel!).

The book is basic enough to explain the intricacies of showing to novices, yet manages to still be interesting to those involved in showing. I recommend this book highly -- hope this author writes more on the subject!

All FOUR PAWS UP for this humorous, knowledgable book!
This book leads you from start to finish on the road to Westminster. Along the way you learn what it takes in time, money and fortitude to even be invited to enter you precious 'furkid'. Deborah writes with a wonderful sense of humor and knowledge of the show dog world.

We are waiting with liver 'baited breath' for her next doggie book!

Almost as good as being there!
Deborah Wood's *Top Dogs* is a great read for anyone who has ever been intrigued by the mystique of Westminster...experienced dog person or interested channel surfer...I came to love the dogs, owners and handlers whose journey to Westminster Wood chronicles, because she deftly captures the soul of each one.

Wood obviously LOVES and knows dogs and respects the tradition of Westminster...but her keen, and often iconoclastic, humor also gives us a knowing and warm wink at the eccentric, passionate world of dog shows.

She's the one you want to go to the Garden with...she's funny, wise and generous.

Cancer Survivor
As a cancer survivor, this book is a perfect gift to a loved one who's just been diagnosed with any form of cancer or long-term illness. It reminds the patient that taking care of themselves, both spritually and physically, during the medical journey is so important. Nice illustrations with sparce words makes it a book that has great meaning with very little effort to read. I have this in my kitchen on a book stand, changing the pages frequently, to remind me that it's always good to take a few minutes to "smell the flowers" and I'm eight and a half years from my treatment. Perfect gift --- much better than flowers or candy as it lasts longer!

Wonderful and Uplifting
This is a totally enjoyable feel-good book. I loved every word and the drawings were marvelous. I cannot say enough good things about this masterpiece. If only I could give 6 stars!

Delightfully presented, practical information
Delightful is the best word to describe this charming little book. And it is a very strange word indeed to describe a book that deals with the problems of serious, chronic illness, but the combination of few words presented in lyrical style, along with beautiful, brightly-colored watercolor prints of flowers results in a delighful presentation of practical information on a very sensitive subject.
The two women responsible for the book - the author and the illustrator - have "been there, done that". Both are survivors of serious illness and have - along with their families - faced the questions that surround such illness, including the decision to use (or reject) life support and to move ahead with life despite some limitations following illness. They provide lots of practical, insightful information that can be useful to anyone - male or female - facing serious illness and/or surgery, but do so without losing sight of the inherent joy of life which, like the flowers that they use to illustrate emotions, seems to occasionally wilt as we face crisis situations.
The book is more than delightful; it is a charming, useful, practical guide to anyone undergoing a life crisis.
It seems strange to say that I enjoyed it - but I definitely did and plan on ordering additional copies to pass along to friends when they face similar situations. I highly recommend it!

Awe Inspiring
If you are open-minded enough and aware this book will widen your global scope and move you down your life path with new vision.

An eye-opener
This is a wonderful, thought provoking book on life. We need more stories like this one to pass down to our children.

If you have ever walked in a forest you will LOVE this book.
This book is what life should be all about. Is it a legend or a fact? If you have been to the forest you will see what this story is all about. A GREAT story that will plant the Seed. A GREAT story to read to children and for adults to comprehend the meanings.

Whitefeather's Woman
John Whitefeather is a hero who will linger in your imagination long after you've finished reading Whitefeather's Woman. Using the perfect balance of strength and vulnerability, Deborah Hale has created John Whitefeather, a man who has his own secrets and prejudices, yet finds room in his heart for shy, emabttled Jane Harris. Jane wants to start a new life in the wild west, far from the frightening world she's escaped. Her plans don't include falling in love, yet John's gentle ways are exactly the balm she needs to heal her wounds. Make room on your bookshelf for Whitefeather's Woman. You'll want to read it more than once.

Another emotional read....
When it comes to romances, it's always about the guy for me. Oh, I want a well-drawn heroine, but my enjoyment hinges largely on whether the author has created a hero I can fall in love with. Deborah Hale has done it here with the gentle-natured, blue-eyed Cheyenne leader, John Whitefeather. Handsome, strong, gentler of wild mustangs and flighty maidens.... But Hale's heroine is no slouch, either. She has come west to Big Sky Country to escape violence at the hands of her erstwhile fiancé. A city girl, she's a fish out of water, but she's a quick study. Whitefeather himself is no stranger to violence at the hands of the more powerful, which gives him a profound bond with Jane. But how can either of them be sure Jane's need for him is not borne solely from her need of a protector? Another emotionally rewarding story from Deborah Hale.

THE BEST YET!!
From the very moment Jane Harris meets incredibly sexy John Whitefeather I was enthralled.

Without exception, Deb Hale's knack at writing intricate stories of love and desire capture my complete attention. The scenery and characterization is so vivid and complete, you'll be drawn into this story right away.

Whitefeather's Woman is absolutely heart-rending. Schedule some time to read this one, you won't be able to put it down.
