A PAINLESS WAY TO GET YOUR DOSE OF ART...
I BOUGHT THIS BOOK BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN AN ART LOVER SINCE I WAS A KID. PART OF THE ENJOYMENT OF ART IS HAVING AN INTERPRETATION TO GO ALONG WITH WHAT YOU ARE SEEING. THIS BOOK WILL EXPLAIN WHY EXPERTS VIEW CERTAIN WORKS OF ART AND PROCLAIM THEM "GREAT". IT TEACHES PRINCIPLES OF ART FROM PAST AND PRESENT PERSPECTIVES IN A UNIQUE, 3-DIMENSIONAL WAY. IT ALSO INCLUDES INTERACTIVE ACTIVITIES SUCH AS A MOBLILE YOU CAN BUILD AND EVEN CHARACTERS THAT YOU CAN PLACE IN THE PAINTING TO UNDERSTAND CONCEPTS SUCH AS VANISHING POINT AND HORIZON LINE. EVERYONE WHO HAS SEEN MY COPY HAS BECOME ENGROSSED IN IT. EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY LIKED ART!

A wonderful introduction for the clueless.
I am one of the artlessly clueless. This book, and the others in the series, have all been wonderful fun, which is why they are also wonderful learning tools for beginners. Low stress, major payback, and marvelously intelligent all the way through. They won't make you an expert, but you'll have a good time and be better for it, too.

Where pop-up books and art history meet.
A beautifully designed pop-up book that's a MUST for any collector. Very educational and interactive.

Discovering the oversights of a majority of leaders
This was an entertaining and insightful world of Management Consulting. The book is filled with practical quotes, funny and at times pathetic anectdotes of Management type errors.

Frame breaking
The Balancing Act takes a fresh and innovatinve approach to the many demands of leadership and organizational development. Well researched and easy to read. There are many gems that are worthy of re-reading when impact of concept is fully understood and implicaitions for change. I strongly recommend. Kurt Southam, Ph.D. Management Consultant

Outstanding. All org leaders should read
This is an excellent look at what motivates people, and what business leaders need to do to revitalize their organizations. It is one of the best I have seen at assessing and molding the cutlure of an organization. A colleague and I liked it well enough to visit the Praxis Group and meet two of the authors. We found them to be very engaging, down to earth, and exceptionally talented at the analysis of an organization's leadership and culture issues.

If you want to be a good student, read this book.
I got through this book when I was in middle school, and I am really happy I did. I saw for myself how much the tools I learned in this book helped me through my schooling, especially later on, from High school on up. I was always one of the top students, even in "trouble subjects". So what, you might say, I know a lot of top students. I do too, but most of them cannot remember much of the subjects of the tests where they got such great marks, only a few months later, not to mention after finishing that course of study and later on in life. The difference? They don't know how to study, they study for the test or for the grade. This book will teach you how to study to leand and understand, and you'll be able to use those things for life.

Couldn't have done it without it!
This is a great book. If it weren't for this book, I wouldn't be where I'm at today, and the subject of computers and technology would be completely lost on me. This book helped expand my knowledge in this field ten fold. Any difficulties with study can be taken by the horns, and you can increase your literacy, more than you could ever have imagined. I can't believe how effective, and how fast the results are obtained by utilizing the data in this simple to understand textbook. Kudos!

What a find!
This book should be in every school. It's full of information and exercizes that teach a kid (or anyone, I guess) how to learn. My brother was a COMPLETE DISASTER in school until he worked through this book.

This is the book on youth evangelism
I am a 9 year veteran of youth ministry and I have read hundreds of books on youth ministry, but this book tops my list. It is the only book that I feel shares my philosophy for evangelism in youth ministry. I use it as a training tool for my youth staff. Whenever I get burnt-out or discouraged or some adult has complained to the senior pastor that a teen has green hair or an earing, I always go and reread this book and it lights the fire again. GET THIS BOOK!...

A youth worker primer
I first heard of this book from the head youth guy of our state. Hutchcraft is well known for his radio ministry, and his book reflects his years of front line experience. Great illustrations and motivational sections alongside real practical advice. I think the "Four Deadly Decades" and the "12 Sentences That Define a Generation" alone are worth buying the book.

A must for anyone who works with teenagers
I absolutely believe this is one of the best books in dealing with our current trend of teenagers. Hutchcraft gives specific ideas on how to reach this new generation of teenagers. I put this book above Boshers and Fields as the top three in student ministry.

GRRRRRReat & Insightful Reading
Though I have only been exposed to the gay sub-culture, know as BEARS, for almost 4 years, it was fascinating to read the history of how this wide spread community began. Ron Suresha seems to have opened a whole new realm in the way I look at this group of masculine, "regular Joe"group of men.
The interviews in this book really get to the heart of what makes up the psychy of a BEAR man. And suprisingly, we are not much different than any other man..gay or straight!
These are very candid interviews and even give some insight into the author's 1st encounters with the BEAR sub-culture, back in its infancy!
GRRRRRRRReat job Ron & I am anticipatorily waiting for your next book!

very well done
the best of the 'bear' books so far. some of the interviews are quite thought-provoking. though there are plenty of critical things said throughout the book, it's the affirming comments that i remember. bear culture has been in the past a path for some gay men to grow and learn more about themselves and others. the book suggests that this phenomenon has not completely passed....

A Bear on "Bears on Bears"
I was given "Bears on Bears" as a gift, and read it from cover to cover with interest and excitement. As a self-described bear who has been in a relationship with another self-described bear for 23 years, I thought "I had seen or knew it all." I was wrong. Ron's book opened my eyes to a much wider world, filled with diversity, a sense of history, and evolution. His interviews with a wide spectrum of men (and even a couple of women!) gave me comfort in knowing that my own experiences were not as unique as I once thought, and allowed me to learn more about the people and events that enable me to live the life I currently enjoy (as well as better understand myself). I highly recommend this book to anyone who is part of or interested in the "bear scene" not only in the United States but also around the world. It's a great read and a great learning experience.

The best book on indoor aeromodeling!
Ron William's book Is an incredible resource for indoor flyers. Indoor models have seemed mysterious even to many outdoor flyers, but this book shows how to go from a simple Delta-Dart like glider to world class F1D planes weighing around 1 gram. Although the Aircraft types are a bit dated (Easy-Bee is now rather difficult, F1D planes are now much smaller and covered in plastic, Superthin plastics replaced many other coverings...)The building techniques are the same, and so are the formulas for loading and prop-form carving. Contest flyers should also get Lew Gitlow's newer book "indoor flying models" but William's Book is a truly indespencible resource.

A Classic Book!
This is a fantastic book. Although it's getting old, it's probably the best book ever written about building indoor duration models. It may also be the best book ever written about model aircraft.

The author obviously put an enormous amount of effort into it, and it will be very useful to anyone who wants to begin building these fragile and beautiful models.

The book is almost an inch thick, and contains detailed instructions on almost every step involved in building indoor models. If you've never built a completely successful rubber-power model plane before, this book might be a really good place to start. The first chapter starts with a beginner's model. Subsequent chapters cover more advanced topics, up to the world-championship F1D class. You could easily go from any skill level to being able to build any model in the book, using only the instructions and plans given in the book.

Although the book concentrates on rubber duration, there is also a chapter on scale models and one on hand-launched gliders. There are many illustrations and they're excellent (I think the author is an architect).

The only thing wrong with this book is that it is now getting old. For example, chapters two and three which describe the easy-bee class, were obviously written at a time when the class was was less competitive than it is today. Nevertheless, the building and flying information given in the book is pretty timeless. People who want more up-to-date information should probably buy Lew Gitlow's more recent book as well.

Useful, enjoyable, and still the best book on its subject.
Ron Williams' book is a pleasure that I've gone back to many times, both to enjoy his prose and his clear drawings and to answer questions and come up with ideas on my current project. A dog eared copy from the library was responsible for my entry into this hobby. Williams covers several types of indoor flying, with plans and instructions for a number of models, ranging from the easiest beginner's model to challenging F1D models with a couple of feet of wingspan that only weigh as much as a dollar bill. Both the prose and the artwork are clear and elegant; you might be tempted to copy some of the drawings to hang in your workshop. The book is showing its age slightly; it has no mention of Tan II, and the EZB designs aren't anywhere near as light as we have today, but it still serves as a wonderful introduction and reference. Williams also didn't seem to realize how easy Limited Pennyplane is, recommending instead EZB as the first serious model. Despite these small flaws, I recommend this book without hesitation, and I'm trying to get another copy to give to newcomers. This book should be republished!

The Canary Caper
My name is Arden Feldman. I think that the book was very good. I liked how they solved the mystery. I really liked the part when the kids came out of the bushes and they looked like ninjas. I could not stop reading the book because it was so good.

Good Mystery
What I like about the book is that the book has a lot pages to read and is interesting about A canary.
The canary is lost and there are three kids, Dink Josh and Ruth that found the canary.
The book is a good book for kids who like mysteries.
I like to read too much.

Nice children's mystery!
My 5 year old son loves this series -- we read them as quickly as they come out. In this one, pets are disappearing -- but why? These are not exactly mysteries -- unlike, say, the Clue Jr. books there's no way for the reader to solve the crimes before the crooks are caught -- but they are interesting and fun to discuss, chapter by chapter, as the plot thickens!

Chinese Tonic Herbs

The only Chinese Herbal book that really EXPLAINS things
I have several good books on Chinese herbs, but Teeguarden's book is the only one with full, complete explanations. He includes:

1. Section on the five elements (water-wood-fire-metal-earth), what "cool" and "warm" and "yin" and "yang" mean.

2. Section describing the most-used and important herbs like Ginseng and Dong Kwai, Ma Huang and many others. This section includes photos of the herb shown as they are sold in herb shops, tips on getting the best herbs, the Chinese name (and Korean, sometimes) The names are both Romanized and in Chinese characters, with the Latin name, and the active chemical components and their effects.

3. Formulae for herb tonics, because Chinese herbs are not used alone but in combination (and the reasoning behind the combination.)

4. Philosophy of Chinese medicine for health (prevention versus cure) and much more.

The book is very readable, too. While I very much like other books I own, this one is such a classic, I consider it a MUST-HAVE if you are interested at all in Chinese medicine and definitely the first one you should own.

A must-read...don't miss the last chapter
I found Ron Teeguarden's new book "Radiant Health" to be the most easily understood and comprehensive book on the subject that I've ever read. Many Westerners, during the last several decades, have become aware of the benefits of Chinese Medicine, specifically acupuncture. This book brings to light the extremely effective system of Chinese Herbal Tonics, which is an ancient tradition of promoting and maintaining a state of radiant health rather than treating disease once it has developed. Considering the cost of health care to both individuals and society at large, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in maintaining their own personal health or providing for the health of society. Not only does Ron Teeguarden explain in detail the properties and uses of each of the tonic herbs but he has a rare talent of making very complex and profound concepts easily understandable to the layman. One suggestion that I would make is not to miss the last chapter called "Six Lessons The Tonic Herbs Have Taught Me." Some readers might get bogged down in the middle of the book where each of the herbs is described. If that happens to you, just skip to the last chapter and then pick up the book, from time to time, to read about an herb or two. The last chapter was my favorite because it beautifully expresses the degree to which the tonic herbs can transform life and raise it to a pinacle that is the birthright of every human being.

No more snake oil.
Ron has certainly opened the eyes of those of us who wish to avoid the chemicals of modern day medicine. This book will guide you to the Chinese herb that is right for you and your health. While he makes no claims of cures, I can attest to the renewed energy and vitality I have attained from his advice and knowledge

Pictures are very good, information too.
Well I consider that this is a very well illustrated book as well as all those from Audubon Society, pictures are impressive.

The information on the book is very useful, it is also very detalailed for a pocket guide, and I consider a good aspect the way to find clouds, is quick and you will easily learn to classify them.

Good Book
Nice pics. Nice info. Good boo

So easy to read! Such beautiful pictures!
This book is similar, though much more condensed, to the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Weather. It has some of the most beautiful weather pictures I've ever seen! The text is also right next to its corresponding picture, making it very easy to use. The small size makes it perfect to carry along with you everywhere!
