This book is an adeptation of the last half of Dragons of Winter Night. It is a very thick comic book that was written in 1985 after the original chronicles came out. I have only books 1,2,3, and 4 and all of them are pretty acurate in there interpretation of the original.

worth reading
i havent read it yet but i have a feeling that this will be an excellent novel

I've never heard of this

Outstanding Reference for Space Craft Fanatics!
I can't believe how fantastic this book is! I got it for christmas and have a hard time putting it down. Considering the weight of this encyclopdiac work that's saying something. Pound for pound worth it's weight in gold or platinum! Only a few notable omissions that I would have liked to see (ie. "The Valley Forge" from Douglas Trumbull's "Silent Running" ) Probably the most amazing relvelation is that many current designs have thier genesis back in the late 40's ! Truly a must have for anyone who dreams or dreamed of interplanetary voyages!

The Dream Machines
Exellent book for any rocket or sci-fi enthusiast. The illustrations and drawings bring home man's facination with the heavens. I have read numerous publications concerning rocketry, and by far this is the best book I have yet to see published to date. I was blown away by the sections, 'The Archaeology of the Spaceship', and 'The Experimenters'. All dealt with rocketry ante-WWII. There are also page after page of NASA concept vehicles that were never flown, including several pages of Apollo and Space Shuttle designs that did not make it to the lauch pad, but yet look like they are ready to just rocket from the page. This book would be a great source of information for those who scratch build model rockets. Color illustrations, 3 view diagrams, an appendix of U.S., Soviet, and international lauch vehicles; what more could one want? If I could only own one rocket book, this would be the book I would chose over all the rest! Buy this book, heck buy 2 and give one to a friend!

Miller, Ron, The Dream Machines, Krieger Publishing:
Comment: Sensational chronological roundup of text, photos, and sketches of virtually every spacecraft and launch vehicle design every conceived but never built. A gold mine for space-struck baby boomers.

In this little gem of a tome on the hazards and opportunities of Personal Finance, Schutz has done an outstanding job of penetrating the maze of investment intracacies!

Based on extensive personal experience in the Insurance Field and later as a Financial Planner, Schutz has given the experienced and the neophyte investor a "Summa" which can provide for a lifetime of sound ROI.

Though not a Contrarian, Schultz leaves the well trodden path of pure Equity and provides a broad foundation of cash-amassing Insurance, Debt Cancellation, Be-Your-Own-Banker, and Asset Allocation.

And all in an easily readable, compact, case-history supported book.

This reviewer has over 45 years of investment experience and has tried these principles. He just wishes he had access to the book at the beginning of his investment career rather than during retirement. However, the past few years of application have resulted in providing a much sounder and more profitable financial situation.

Do not miss "Financial Truths For The 21st Century", just the "Seven Secrets" are worth the modest price of admission!

REQUIRED READING FOR THE 21ST-CENTURY CEO

The book is witty, entertaining, and often irreverent, and his no-nonsense advice has made him both popular and controversial. His audiences are truly enlightened by his wisdom and unconventional advice.

Invaluable advice for the entrepreneur & business owner.
In Financial Truths For The 21st Century, financial advisor Ronald Schutz show how to build wealth that will not be eroded by taxes or decimated by a "down" market; play a comfortable and secure retirement; ensure genuine financial security for loved ones (even after you're gone); become independent from the high interest rates and minimal returns of bank loans and financial instruments. For the small business owner and entrepreneur, Schutz's provides invaluable advice , including a "must-read" chapter on employee stock plans. Financial Truths For The 21st Century should be required reading for anyone seeking to brave the complex and often hazard riddled road to economic security and financial planning success in today's competitive, exploitative, and occasionally deceitful marketplace.

FINALLY -- A BOOK ABOUT ME!
"Golf Nuts" is a book about people who share a common passion. Head Nut #0001 - Ronald Garland goes into grave detail about how he established the "Golf Nuts Society" and some of the unique characters that belong to this growing organization. This is a great book if you know someone who is obssessed with the game of golf. Its very easy to read. The sample test in the back of the book to see if you should be committed is hysterical, the glossary and world records will leave the reader in stitches because only those searching for the "secret" will understand. I loved the book so much that I joined the "Golf Nuts Society" -- #3177.

Golf Nuts: You've Got to Be Committed
This is an excellent book. Very enjoyable. I am so glad this book came out in time to give as Christmas presents. Ron Garland and Brian Hewitt are terrific!! I recommend this book to anyone who loves golf!

stories about the lunatic fringe of golf.
the glossary is worth the price of the book. absolutely pure golf slang.

Excellent Book
Dr. Leifer, a psychiatrist, borrows from his Buddhist practice and his
clinical experience to offer profound insights into the sources of
anxiety and depression in the West. He makes a compelling case that
the projects we develop to make us happy become the sources of our
unhappiness. Meditation can help reduce the three "poisons"
that make us miserable--desire, aversion, and ignorance.

You will be happy you purchased the Happiness Project
Very good discussion of Western and Buddhist thought on psychology. Highly recommended.

Extremely interesting book
Valuable information about buddism, "Freudism", and western spirituality.

A Refreshing Read
I find this handbook a refreshing read; it is quite different from some other handbooks and also, I learnt a few new things from it.

Would recommend to others if I know they are looking around for a book on EM.

I Highly Recommend ThisBook
This book helped me gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for electromagnetic (EM) theory. The book not only answered many of my questions on the subject, but also helped me sort out and solidify my existing knowledge on EM. I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially students like myself desiring a real grasp on the subject.

The book does a great job of explaining why high frequency circuits behave so differently than low frequency circuits. I now also have a much better conceptual understanding of magnetism, reactive components, parasitic effects, transmission lines, diffraction, and radiation. I was pleased the author included the Relativity and Quantum Physics chapter, since it helped refresh my memory on those subjects.

Many of my fellow classmates majoring in electrical engineering are totally clueless when it comes to understanding the theory behind EM. To many of them an inductor is nothing more than a little circuit symbol and equation. To many of them permittivity and permeability are just numbers. To many of them EM waves arise solely because of a fancy vector identity applied to Maxwell's Equations. I truly hope they find this book.

An accessible treatment of a challanging subject
I'm a Systems Engineer for a major test and measurement equipment manufacturer and have an MS in Electrical Engineering. Since my job responsibilities have begun to move into the area of wireless, I have been looking for a "intro/refresher" on electromagnetics. One of the problems I've had is that books on this subject are either too math-intensive (filled with triple integrals, etc.), not technical enough, or pure theory (with no hints as to how I might actually USE this information)

This book, on the other hand, strikes a rare balance between these extremes. It's rigorous enough technically, but also does something very few books do -- it explains the WHY and the HOW as well. There is a lot of practical advice on how to apply the material in this book as well.

This book has been very useful to me both as background knowledge as well as in solving some very real problems (e.g. in antenna design/analysis).

I buy well over 50 technical books a year, and this is by far one of (if not the) best. Highly recommended.

the home garden handbooks
I am looking for someone that knows something about old books like the home garden handbook published in 1927

No finer book for the finer points of Excel
I am a heavy duty user of Excel and I support users of the application too. This is one of the best books I have seen on Excel's most powerful features. The chapters on array formulas and range names are the best I have read on the subject. This book is outstanding. I am here writing this review because I was hoping to order a copy for work.

Very good for those who want to know Excel more
One of the excellent book of Excel. However it is out of stock. I lent it from the library and can't find it from any book store. I hope the publisher will re-printed it.

A Nice Guide to Growing Garlic.
Most gardeners don't think of growing garlic, because it is so plentiful and inexpensive at the local grocery store. The problem is that there is only one kind of garlic available at most grocery stores and markets, and that limits variety to be sure! There are over 72 different cultivated varieties of garlic! Each variety has its own distinct aroma, flavor, and level of spicyness. There are even hot garlics! Elephant garlic isn't a true garlic, so it doesn't count.

This book is an indispensible introduction to, and guide for growing garlic, and it even has some places listed where you can get the different cultivars of garlic.

The book is arranged into 3 parts. The introduction deals with the natural history of garlic. The second part deals with the different varieties, and the difference between the hardneck and softnect varieties. It also deals with the history of cultivated garlic. Examples of different garlic include Korean Red, which is a hot garlic, Spanish Roja, Polish, German Red, Inchilium Purple, Silver Skin(the variety usually found in stores), Montana Giant, etc. Each one has its own characteristics and each one has different storage time, growing time, and harvest time.

The third part deals with the cultivation techniques and gardening techniques associated with growing great garlic.
The author has gone to great pains to explain in detail the different methods used in growing garlic, from a commercial scale to the individual organic farmer to the individual home gardener. It is extremely helpful to the garlic novice, that is for sure.

I have used the methods outlined in this book, and in 1999, I liked this book so much that I ended up finding an organic garlic grower in Texas, and got 7 varieties of garlic and started them in a raised garden in October of 1999. In just 8 months I had my first harvest, and it was really cool to grow such distinct garlic in my own garden. This stuff is also expensive, the rare garlics, so it is advantageous to grow your own.

This book is softcover, 229 pages.
I highly recommend it to the home gardener who wants to try something new and delightful.

If you only own one book on growing garlic--this is the one.
If you only own one book on growing garlic--this is the one. From the history and enzyme groups of garlic to "how to properly clean and store" it, ron covers it all. The Bibile for garlic growers. Get the suppliment from FillareeFarms.com to get the most up-to-date expert information on this wonderful fun food.

If you want to grow great garlic, you need this book!
Garlic is not just what you find in the supermarket. And once you begin to realize the enormous variety available, you, too, will want to have that sensational patch in your back yard. This book is the "how to and what is" bible for garlic growers everywhere. Even we were able to grow good garlic thanks to all of the guidance from Filaree Farm. Get this book now. You have until fall 1999 to prepare your garden for growing garlic. And while you are doing all of the planning, be sure to place your order with Filaree for garlic "seed" they will be harvesting late this summer. Just remember, though---the lusty, mouthwatering descriptions prove to be irresistable. Just because Filaree offers more than 450 varieties does not mean that you have to plant all of them, even though you will want too. Be prudent!

And, if you love garlic the way we love garlic, you will also want to order a dozen or so varieties just for eating! Start with Chesnok Red,a purple stripe hardneck garlic that is absolutely sensational when it is roasted.

this is a great reference (for all ages)
this is a great book: well written; comprehensive but not encylopedic; engaging and entertaining. it was intended for junior or senior high school students and some of it's suggetions and examples reflect that BUT please don't let that stop you from buying it. it is simultaneously a good introduction to poetic forms (and poetry in general), a quick reference for the more advanced student, and a source of inspiration for practicing poets.

One of my favorite books
I use this book all the time! I've had it for over 10 years and find myself continually going back to it. Recently I began writing a poem every morning before getting out of bed, and this book is invaluable for helping wake up my brain and start the creative juices flowing. The forms are clearly defined with good examples given, and the sheer number of forms included is inspiring! If one isn't working for me that morning, I simply flip to another. I've used this book with teenagers and with adults in poetry-writing exercises--it works well with all ages.

Wonderful book for writers as well as teachers!
This book is my favorite poetry handbook--and I have several--because it covers so many forms in such an clear, undry (i.e. entertaining) way. It's fun to read. I've taught poetry writing at about 40 elementary schools through the Writers in the Schools programs and children's literature at the University of Iowa. The Handbook gives a passel of forms that can be used with kids of all ages. In the children's lit class, the book was a means of showing the wide variety of forms. The undergrad students in that class, most of whom weren't that familiar with poetry, were dazzled by all the possibilities that the book opened up. As a writer, I enjoy reading about the different forms and examples. You can try writing in one of the forms, or try making up a new form based on forms in the book. Either way, you learn, you enjoy, you think, and you write, thanks to the Handbook.
