Very highly recommended reading for women's studies
Gertrude Bell was an English woman who lived an extraordinary life of adventure. She rode with bandits, braved desert shamals, was captured by Bedouins, and sojourned in a harem. The counselor to kings and prime ministers, her illustrious colleagues included Lloyd George and Winston Churchill. Very highly recommended reading for women's studies, and 20th century studies reading lists and library collections, Gertrude Bell: The Arabian Diaries, 1913-1914 is wonderfully illustrated with her photography and exemplifies her elegant, vibrant prose, as well as documenting her on of the 20th Century's most daring, resourceful, independent, and larger-than-life characters.

Short snippets of Atwood's glorious style
Some days, you simply don't have the attention span required of you for reading good books. Sometimes, I find even short stories too taxing and poetry much too dense to absorb properly. That's when Good Bones will come in handy, for it will provide doses of short, potent prose.

It's a tiny little book, with tiny short stories (three or four pages on average) that are clever, intriguing and shot through with Margaret Atwood's luscious style. Despite the lengths of the stories, they are in no way lacking in emotion or intensity. They are snippets of random musings, of well-known stories told from somebody else's point of view, of sci-fi fantasies that reflect upon our own humanity...

The stories do not link to each other. As far as I can see, they are writing experiments, little flashes of inspiration that do not fit somewhere in a greater whole (such as a novel). They are ideas, brief contemplation of how the world is, snapshots of human behaviour.

Atwood has a particularly cutting insight into the way things are. I cried at certain stories, not because they were formulated with particular tragic scenes, but because they moved me. Forlorn beauty, half-remembered sensations, the things she could say with a stroke of a pen are those dark, shadowy feelings we sometimes find in ourselves, yet could never describe. Now she has done it for us, and it makes for cathartic reading.

Through Good Bones we are given a glimpse of Atwood's world: usually bleak, sometimes spine-chilling with its prediction of how the world just might turn out, but always haunting and always beautiful. If you have not read any of her works before, this is a great place to start. If you have read and enjoyed her other works, this one will definitely be worth your while.

What a great intro to ecology in the light of theology!
This is a great book exploring the intersection of ecological concerns and contemporary theology. The author basically argues that a strong view of the Incarnation provides a firm basis for ecological concern.

Recommendation
As a third year pharmacy student, I am particularly impressed with the organization and conciseness of this guidebook to non-prescription products. This text is simple to follow, for health care professionals and also the average consumer who has questions and concerns about medications that they are buying over-the-counter.

I like the way this book makes me feel.
I like the way this book makes me feel. Hang on, Hopper! is a very pleasant introduction into Pfister's mycological studies. I find it also gives great insight into his philosophical beliefs. I mean, Hang on, Hopper! Brilliantly, Pfister expresses a lot of the frustrations that encounter today's youth. He provides helpful suggestions for all of us, so that we can keep control, "hang on" if you will, and in the end, triumph.

Mystical yet Practical
This book is excellent, because it helps merge the worlds of spirituality with down-to-earth advice one can realistically use to help themselves be happier and more "prepared" for meeting that special someone. It also helps you identify a potential soulmate, and gives spirituality "lessons" in everyday language that the layman can relate to, without being overbearingly "New-Agey" and full of jargon and/or condescension. Well worth reading, and referring back to when one needs encouragement.
