Rosemary's witch
Rosemary's Witch
The novel Rosemary's witch, by Ann Turner is a story about two young neighbors who are best friends and they try to find out why this witch is taking things from them. Ernie, a chubby boy, who lives down the street, from Rosemary Morgenthau, Ernie's best friend. Rosemary, a girl who moves into a 150-year-old witches house in a town called Woodhaven and she finds out that the witch wants her house back.
Rosemary and Ernie go to the witches house, which is in Rosemary's backyard and they try to find out what she wants and why she wants it. What I like about Rosemary is that she's only eleven-years-old and she's very brave. She's brave enough to face a witch. My favorite part of the book was when she became friends and when she was picking on Ernie before they tried to find out what she wanted, and my least favorite part was when the toads were all over the streets. I think the ending of this book is good because it acts as if there is going to be a part two, another section.
I like the way that Ann Turner writes her books, she gives just enough information; not too much and not too little. Her vocabulary is a little but not much easier than it should be. I think that she wrote the book for ages 12-15. I would recommend this book because it teaches you to be brave and don't hold back on your dreams or on your accomplishments!

The best book, great for a middle schooler.
I really liked this book because Rosemary is the same age as me,and she has to go and find a witch. Rosemary likes to achieve her goals. she was a good character. She did achieve her goal. The one thing I liked was when Rosemary finds she does not have a title, like her father is a history teacher, and hermother is a dancer, and her brother wants to be an archeoligist, but she does not have one. She later finds she does not need one. So that is why I like this book.

You Can Learn Something, Too
That's right, you can learn something, too! "Shelterwood: Discovering The Forest" is packed with information about the environment that will enlightened you as well as your students. For instance, did you know that a baby porcupine is called a porcupette? The teacher's guide contains fifteen chapters worth of creative forest related information. Within the guide, there are eighty well designed activities for children ranging from the third and sixth grade levels, including such topics as how to identify different species of trees, plants, and animals. Also, there are up to thirty three hand-outs that include anything from instructions on how to identify different animal tracks,or simple explanations on a tree's ever changing life. Included in the guide are several tree trivia questions with the ability to stump the best of environmentally educated minds. Of course, the trivia questions also come with well detailed answers that leave you full with knowledge. The teacher's guide may be designed for students, but I guarantee that the students won't be the only ones learning. This is the best source of environmental information for teachers who bring, or hope to bring, nature to the school year's curriculum.

This is a truly beautiful book!
This is a truly beautiful book! The story is simple - a grandfather teaches his granddaughter about the trees and animals in the forest. The text and superb illustrations convey the gentleness of the grandfather/granddaughter relationship as well as the beauty of the forest and need for stewardship. I loved it!

Everybody Needs Friends
Everyone needs to have friends, we all know that. In this story, the Sun is always lonely because he never has anyone to talk to and share stories with. The moon feels the exact same way. One evening, as the moon was rising, he noticed the sun off on the other side of the horizon. The began to talk evey morning and evening and became the best of friends.
This is a great story to show how inportant friendships really are. When you don't have friends, you are ususally pretty sad and lonely. But with friends around, you can joke around, tell secrets, and just have fun. This story shows that importance and what it does for a person. Everybody needs friends.

Sun and Moon
This is an awesome book! It's another one of Marcus Pfister's wonderful creations with beautiful illustrations and an excellent message. This book creatively explains eclipses for young readers in a context that they will enjoy and understand. Besides explaining eclipses, this book also explores emotions and the power of friendship. The illustrations are excellent, they are bright and vibrant with wonderful detail. It is an asbolute must for any classroom or personal collection.

This is the book to buy if you want to impress women!
When I'm in town for a weekend, I like cooking at home. And, I must admit I do enjoy showing off my culinary prowess to women. That's why Tastes to Astonish is the cookbook for me. The recipes are great--they are easy to follow, work perfect every time, and my dinner guests always think I'm a terrific cook. In the back of the book, there are several menus. I have followed three of them, and WOW what great dinners! I plan on making them all of them. Everyone who likes to cook should own this book, especially if you like showing off!

It is a cookbook for all cooks, from beginners to the best.
I love it!!! This "stirring" cookbook will bring these authors to the forefront of culinary brilliance. The authors have a great imagination for creating bold-tasting recipes. Their use of an incredible array of ingredients makes cooking come to life. Their love of cooking comes shining through. Now I look forward to fabulous meals at home.

Who am I?
If a bear wanted to find out his/her family history, this would be the encyclopedia to buy. Being a teddy bear is still very in vogue. This is a fascinating way to find out why we love teddy bears and why they appeal to collectors all over the world.

You can read about all the best-loved bears, from the original "teddy" to "Winnie-the-Pooh. The latest collectibles such as Beanie Bear and the Millennium Bears are also included. Pauline Cockril is the internationally recognized expert on the history of the teddy bear. She is also a regular contributor to Teddy Bear Times.

If you see a teddy bear and instantly want to buy it...this book IS for you. Also look for The Ultimate Teddy Bear Book which is considered to be the bible of arctophily (bear collecting) and is used by collectors, dealers and toy shops around the world.

The first bear listed was made in 1902 and was an experimental Steiff bear. The bears are listed all the way up to the year 2000. If you think you have seen it all...wait until you see the Pink Dino, a Swiss bear with characteristic elongated designs that I think looks more like a monkey. I much prefer the 1991 Pam Howells bear that has a lace collar, shaggy golden mohair plush "fur" and a cute hat trimmed with fabric roses. The Australian Teddy bear on pg. 137 looks somewhat like a koala bear for some reason. :)

I know a place where a lady has bears sitting everywhere in her Bed & Breakfast. You just want to take one of the bears home with you. In each room, she also has a "resident" bear that sits on the fluffy down-comforter covered bed. The whole place is like one big teddy bear picnic. I bet she knows about this book!

It is just unbearable not to own more bears. I must go shopping since I gave away most of my teddies when they had a teddy bear drive for kids. It was sad to say goodbye to some of them, but I know they are now happily living with a child who loves them. I do think it is time to start collecting again!

All Bears DON'T Look Alike!!
This is a great "beginner" book to learn about the points that distinguish one bear from another. Somehow they all seem to look alike at first!!

This book teaches you to pay attention to whether the nose is stitched up and down or from side to side. Are the feet big or are they little stumps? Are the eyes glass or plastic? Are the ears close together or far apart? Are the arms long and pointed or short and stumpy? These all are clues as to the date and manufacturer of the bear!!

Includes a section on repairing an antique bear (less is better!) as well as a section on newer bears!

A great learning tool! Written so it is easily understood........you don't have to already BE an EXPERT to BECOME one with the help of this well written book!!

An involving and complex saga about the human condition
Set in a public high school in upstate New York, starting in the year 1980, Those Who Give is an involving and complex saga about the human condition, as Alyssa Matthews, Jean Tevarro, and Bonnie Mason are caught up in the conflicts between greed and ethics, love and the fear of heartbreak. With a wicked string of irony running through turbulent passions, Those Who Give is commended as being a deftly written and sharply insightful novel, as author Rosemary Cania Maio combines tragedy with comedy, history with prophecy, celebration with indictment, and epic storytelling with memorably identifiable characters.

Moving, literate and real
A book about a dedicated teacher, and her struggles in a bureaucratic system, runs the risk of sentimentality. But Rosemary Maio creates a real protagonist--a human with deep devotion to her profession and her students and equally deep frustration with the obstacles of apathy, selfishness, and privation. Teaching is complex, and the good teachers don't always win. But those who give also receive, and the conclusion of this book, while not a hoped-for happy ending, allows the readers to feel satisfied that he or she has gotten to know the heart and mind of the main characters. This book shows a love of literature, an appreciation of characterization, a flair for detail. This is an amazing first book.

Fun chapter book to read to the preK set
My 3 year old son loves this book (and so do I)! Each chapter is its own story; read in its entirety, the book is a wonderful tale of kindergarten life.

LEARNING AND LAUGHTER ABOUND
Youngsters will enjoy, identify with and learn from these six apropos and funny stories by award winning author Rosemary Wells. With the same friendly characters found in "Timothy Goes To School" the author tells tales that teach young ones how to share, how to take turns, how to work together, and how to persist in achieving goals.

Teachers are depicted as fair mentors who help, encourage and, yes, are firm when it's necessary.

In "Fritz Tries Again" it is Science Fair time and Fritz is determined to make a toilet paper roll Superconducting Super Collider. His classmates don't think this is possible and opt for more realistic projects such as collecting seashells or different mosses. Does Fritz surprise them all, including himself?

During Bird Week Charles, who is not very big and rather shy, chooses to be a bald eagle. Claude had his heart set on being a bald eagle and tries everything he can think of to trade birds with Charles. First he makes fun of him, and then he offers to give Charles his red truck and yellow airplane. But Charles stands firm although secretly he is afraid he cannot sound very much like a Bald Eagle. Does he overcome his uncertainty?

Not all of the fun takes place in classrooms. There are also other adventures for children ages 3 - 8 to follow as they learn about their friends and themselves.

- Gail Cooke

An excellent page-turner. Highly recommended.
Although I am not generally a reader of historical / romantic fiction, I enjoyed this book a great deal. A compulsive read, it is very difficult to put down, giving a great sense of imvolvement with the characters. The interest of the book is enhanced by the well-researched details of life in the past, and (most importantly) how these details affected ordinary people. Thoroughly recommended.

I was spell bound
AN ESSENTIAL READ FOR THOSE WITH CORNISH ANCESTRY. A WONDERFUL ACCOUNT OF CORNISH LIFE IN THE CLAYMINING AND FISHING INDUSTRIES AT THE TURN OF THE CENTRUEY WELL RESEEARCHEDM A GOOD ROMANCE, AND VERY READABLE.

Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover
I was very excited when I saw a new book would soon be available by Rosemary Rogers. However, when it arrived and I began reading it, I quickly saw that it was a reissue of the 1982 novel, with a new cover. Wish it had been a new book, one about Steve and Ginny.

EXCELLENT BOOK!!!
Rosemary Rogers is the Queen. This book is such an adventure it's impossible to sum it up. However, if you only like "sweet" books, this is not for you. [RR is know for being a bodice-riper]

A Very Good Read
I trully enjoyed this book. It was very well written as well as an exciting storyline.
