A must read for all dementia caregivers
Discovering Adventure in Special Care captures the challenges faced by families and professionals caring for individuals living with the thievery of dementia. Rosemary Dunne offers practical solutions to difficult situations. Her easy to read and often entertaining style of writing makes the reader feel right at home with each scenario and subsequent solution. I wish this book had been available when we were in the midst of our struggles with our own mother's dementia experience.

Great book for classrooms
This book is written for a 11-13 age group, not the baby-preschool audience promoted by Amazon. It is a book I use at the beginning of every school year with grade 7 (12-13 year old) students because there is an excellent teaching package based on Bloom's Taxonomy available, and it focusses on student diversity and building friendships. The book received The Canadian Childrens Book Centre Choice Award for its wonderful story line that focuses a wheelchair bound boy's coming to terms with the new challenges that face him every day.

Dragon Slayer

A wonderful retelling of one of Britain's oldest stories.
Ms. Sutcliff has again blowen the dust from the stories which have lain dormant on library shelves for so long and made them come alive. Beowulf has never been so exciting. His epic battles with three of the most horrifing creature in British liturature are amazingly terrifying and suspenseful but they are also profoundly human. Ms. Sutcliff allows feelings of sadness, trust, and loyalty to seep through the pages of the old story and into her hero's heart. She makes Beowulf not only into a great king and hero but into a great man as well.

How the creative analyst enables understanding
Rosemary Gordon is a London based analytical psychologist in private practice. In Dying And Creating: A Search For Meaning, Gordon shows how the creative analyst enables understanding in her patients to grow when symbolization and creativeness are no longer hindered by paralyzing fears. She persuasively suggests that there exists an interaction between various psychopathological stages of mind and a person's relation to dying and the creative processes. Fascinating, thoughtful, and well presented, Dying And Creating offers an in-depth discussion of the psychology of these significant processes and of symbolization. Gordon also shows that the philosophy of art plays an important part in working out the links between dying and creating as well. Highly recommended to students of psychology as well as active practitioners dealing with issues of death, dying, symbolization, and the psychological processes of artistic creation.

Beautiful series of books - Edward the Unready!
Brilliant series of books about a young bear called Edward. The artwork and story are simply breathtaking. One would just love to give the poor young fellow a big hug the troubles he gets in.

A wonderful book with an unusual and important message
I loved this book and so did my son. It is SO hard to find children's books that say that it's okay to be behaviorally a little different. So many books say it's okay to be different in other ways, but there is not much out there for the child that might be not ready to try new things as eagerly as their peers. Most books seem to tell them to "go ahead, try it, in the end it will be great" but this book admits that Edward was just plain not ready for an overnight, and that being at home was much happier for him. I think Rosemary Wells is one of the few authors out there for young children that truly understands them.

What is eggplant ice cream?
I thought I had tried every flavor of ice cream. From Ginger to Green Tea (still my favorite --Oishii desu ne!) But this book introduced me to what has to be the wildest flavor ever... EGGPLANT ICE CREAM!

I grew up in an Italian family where we had eggplant parmagiana once a month. As a child of the 70s, in a world of canned food and frozen veggies, I thought it was exotic. But it started my love of this wonderful vegetable. This cookbook helps fuel the passion.

This is a marvelous cookbook for anyone who is in love with this veggie, for vegetarians who want more eggplant recipes for their repetoir, or for anyone who knows that eggplants come in more colors than just purple! The recipes are easy to follow. The photos are mouth watering.

I was happy to find this cookbook on a friend's shelf. I borrowed it and have yet to return it. I apparently like eggplants more than they do...

Caribe is paradise
This book clearly explains why Caribe is paradise. With so many pictures, one feels like is on a vacation. There are maps, excellent descriptions and the recipes! Lots of information that I thought was lost. Typical dishes and how they came to be. Plants and their uses. Cultures within the Caribean. Enough history to spike our curiosity. A must read before you visit and a must have if you live here. What a cookbook! Warning: Do not read this book if you are a local living overseas. This book will cause you to forget why you left and make you return home.

An exciting adventure written for children of all ages.
Healing Today (Journal of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers) July, 1999 Reviewed by Shirley Brooker

Emily and the Angels is an exciting adventure which possibly was written for children but holds many thought provoking ideas for adults. Like the Wizard of Oz, the Narnia stories and many other so-called children's books, there are different messages to meet the needs of the reader. It is a story of personal unfoldment and the search for wisdom.

Sarah is a young girl who longs to do more to save the world than just recycling bottles and papers. She is led into a maze by little Emily and meets with a group of others. They find their way out into a world where many of the people have caught a virus and become detached from their shadows. These people are enslaved by the evil and scheming Krinlins. The girls take on a mission to seek help and their journey is frought with danger and temptations that distract them from their task. There are exciting events, which lead them deeper into personal understanding and awareness of other levels of being.

An adaptation of the book is produced in the form of two audio cassettes, a total duration of three hours. It is read by Jeni Barnett in a way more suitable for children than adults.

As a lover of children's stories, I found Emily and the Angels refreshing to read. It contained gentle reminders of how best to deal with issues that arise in life. I enjoyed the book and recommend it for adults and children alike.
