Cry-star : Never a dull moment
This is an excellent source book for Providence. It gives a great overview of the city and and the important people who run it. The book includes maps of the different areas of the city. From the dismal under-city of Kasm, where the fallen live, to the beautiful platfroms that make up Haven, the home of the upper castes. It also includes the stats for the major non-player characters of the world and how they act and react to each other and a brief history of each.

This book is a must for any adventure in the city and as an excellent reference.

Seize the day and Seize your life
It's been a while since I read this book. Though I'm a self-help junkie, and it's good to stop reading and start doing, it's also good to have a fundamental list of your favorites that you re-read once or twice a year. This book is on my re-read list, along with TRLT by Scott Peck, and Resurrection by Neville. What I can remember about the book is how the author, especially Danny likens the challenge of their past careers to grabbing your life and just doing it. One thing that sticks in my mind is how he says that it just ain't enough to post a picture of your dream house on the fridge. You really have to take action to get it.

Some People
Danny Hoch's new book is hilarious! The characters are so detailed that they reach out and touch the reader's hand, or, more appropriately, say Yo! The monologues give a taste of realism for the youth of America. The various scenarios that Hoch sets up reek of the very sense of what hip hop really is. Hoch makes the everyday trials and tribulations of the American youth into a outrageously funny collection of monologues. All in all, Hoch's Some People contains some of the most innovative writing I have seen in years.

Standards And Schooling In The United States: An Encyclopedia (3 Volumes)

The Most Comprehensive Discussion of Educational Standards
This is encyclopedia is unparralleled in the fifty four essays it brings together regarding the debate over the viability and direction of educational standards and testing in the United States. With essays from notable authors such as Joe Kincheloe, Danny Weil, Bill Bigelow and Bob Peterson of Rethinking Schools, Monty Neill of FAIRTEST and a host of academicians and teachers laboring with the lives of students, parents, and commmunities, this book is by far the most comprehensive and unique book of its kind. With media-driven soundbites commanding the debate Americans are exposed to regarding standards and education, this book promises to shed both heat and light on the issue of how we test children and why by including topics of social justice, racism, social class, gender discrimination, culture, lingustics, community movements and organizational attempts at shifting assessment paradigms, authentic assessment and authentic teaching, psycholgocial critiques of antiquated notions of knowing and what it means to be intelligent, as well as re-defining the role of education as that of a "journey to become human". By tying the issues to changes in neo-liberalism, the encyclopedia achieves its goal of seating the issue of education and standards within history and shows the relationship of the current standards debate to the particular phase of capitalism we are witnessing today. A masterpiece and an important addition to all-too often shallow journalistic coverages of educational purpose and assessment. This book is a must read for anyone interested in public policy, educational psychology, cultural discrimination in testing, racism and high stakes testing, efforts at organizing resistance to current standards and proposals for more comprehensive human efforts at educational reform, and especially for teachers of all grades laboring with the lives of our future citizens in an atmosphere of commodification and de-skilling of the teaching profession. Thank you for this book and continue your efforts.

Step-by-Step Discarding

An excellent book on an often ignored subject
Inaccurate discarding costs countless on defense and often allows declarers to bring home unmakeable contracts. Learn to recognize EARLY IN THE HAND what the critical cards will be... no more throwing diamonds only to see the declarer later run the suit! Roth also gives excellent advice on discarding under pressure and minimizing the damage when you have no choice but to make a disadvantageous discard.

You will a learn a tremendous amount from this book and your defense will improve immensely, for learning how to discard requires learning how to visualize the hand. It isn't usually clear what "the right thing to do" is, but Roth shows you how to THINK about the hand and come to the best decision based on all the information available.

Huw's Review
A great book. This book follows the Stereophonics from the initial start in Cwmaman to the writing of their hit album Just Enough Education to Perform [notice similarity in the names?]. Anyhows, this book follows the story of a once small local band as they turn into an international phonomenon: the pain of getting a record contract; the pressures of touring; the satisfaction of watching your record fly into the charts and of course, the intensley electrifying atmosphere of a live Stereophonics gig. This book truly is great and makes you feel as if you know the stereophonics since they were born. Absolutaly great.

A Fashion Book For Rest Of Us
This beautifully produced coffee-table book arose from a fashion exhibit held by the Victoria & Albert Museum in the early 1990s. I can't say enough about the layout, photography, and amazing color throughout the book. While the exhibit curators obviously labored mightily to put the exhibit together, the book manages to catalog it all in an enthralling way. A bit expensive for people like me, but you should definitely find a copy to browse through if nothing else.
