This book was great!!
This is the final book (4 in all) in her Summer Ballad series. This tells the story of Brandon and JoBeth. It was very well written and Ms. Crowe wraps up the story with a bang. You also see all your old favorites from the first 3 books!! I liked it a lot.

Pretty Good :)
I love paranormal romances and even though the DreamScapes series is cancelled this is a pretty good book. The Author created a unique world where the forces of evil and good are pushed and a dark man must overcome his issues to love Cypess (the main female). Though I must say *don't confuse this book w/ real witchcraft, Wicca or anything else!!* I know Wicca and though this book talks about Wiccan thing the author kinda fantacized them- but that is to be expected- it being a "fantasy" book. So all in all 4 stars... :)
Great interracial romance!
You don't find this type of book with Harlequin often, so this was a delightful suprise. There is magic and the passion between Cypress and Drake was hot. This is one of my favorite books this year.

Rather simplistic telling of the life of a fascinating woman
Emma Edmonds ran away from home to escape her father and an arranged marriage. She eventually settled in Flint, Michigan, where she pretended to be a man, using the name of Frank Thompson, both to protect herself and to enable herself to make a decent living (she sold Bibles door-to-door). When the Civil War broke out, Emma signed up for the Union. Besides being an army nurse, she fought in several battles, went AWOL when she had malaria, to prevent her sex from being discovered, nursed herself back to health, and rejoined the war. Grant sent her on 8 spying missions in Confederate country, all of which she carried out efficiently, disguising herself one mission as a young black man; she was promptly enslaved and forced to dig trenches for the Confederates--ideal, for she had been trying to find out what were the exact locations of the enemy's trenches. The book is full of such stories; there's never a dull page, thanks to Emma's colorful and courageous life. Stevens writes for the young market; I think her writing errs on the side of being too unsophisticated, but that's a fault that can be overlooked when dealing with such splendid material.

Well-written, beautifully produced work
Silber, who is director of museums in Leeds, England, and a well-known Jacob Epstein scholar, does an excellent job of delineating Gaudier's development as an artist. Her prose is fluid and elegant, and her interpretations insightful and persuasive. Her prodigious research is evident throughout the work, especially in the much-needed catalogue raisonee. This is an indispensable book for anyone interested in 20th-century sculpture.

Very interesting and informative ! Excellent !
Hong Kong has gone through many transformations in its political, social and economic history. It was a British Colony and it is now a part of China. This book examines, explores and provides us with an intimate portrait of some of the most influential personalities who are the movers and shakers of Hong Kong. It is seen through their eyes, as former British Subjects and now citizens of China. It is not everyday that one country changes hands to another completey different country. This book shares with us their feelings and provides us with an inside look into their personaql life. It is very vell written and deep. A must for any reader on Hong Kong. This book is not only important about the social and political transformation of Kong Kong, but it is also about people who are no different from any of us, but have just applied themselves harder and worked profusely for their personal accomplishments.

How this book help me....
I bought this book to assist me in understanding the WISC III and how it is interpreted so I could be knowledgeable at my daughter's PET meetings. Very technical and detailed.Wouldn't consider it to be easily read but once you sit down with a WISC exam and the book it becomes much easier to follow. Would suggest to professionals as well as parents.

Excellent inexpensive poodle book
Though dated (the clothing will kill you!), this is a handy little book. Helpful information on training, altho the author doesn't mention how to get the dog to walk on the lead without trying to bite it. (Here's how: as you walk, hold a doggie treat in front of the dog's nose so he's more interested in the treat than the leash. He'll follow the treat. After a couple of feet, give it to him and then go again.) Well worth getting if you can find a copy.

On southern historiography
I would recommend this book to anyone interested in southern history with at least one qualification. This is a rather serious work. The book is a collection of thirteen historiographical essays on a broad range of southern historical topics. Because it is a late eighties publication, a good deal of the most recent scholarship is reflected in its pages. If its a quick read on southern history you want, this may not be the book. If you want to understand what historians have said over the years about southern history (a must for graduate students), then this is definitely your book. I recently purchased the book knowing shamefully little about southern historiography, and now consider the book indespensible, without substitute.

a short, but great read
I was hooked into this book from the beginning. The Making of a Schoolgirl is a story about a young girl named Becky and her experiences in an all-girl boarding school during the late-Victorian times. Though the book stated only a few events that occured during the school year, you get the general feeling of how life was for Becky. She meets other girls her age(she never really hung out with them before; her brother, Jack, was basically her only friend), and she learns about all their strange, quirky behaviors and manners towards others. I liked this book alot, and it's too bad that it's out of print.
