Fossils and Faith Evolution Darwin Dinosaurs
People holding in Darwin and his adherents have some thinking to do, for this book shows me hoe really no serious thoughtwas put into the theory to start with, rather a ideological drive to assert the impossible non-excistance of a Dvine Master,

Anyway what can isay, this is but one of his few workd of which i like quite a bit and recomend for all pepole seeking... ...well anyhting that might imply the truth of actuality as we may perceive it.

there is other stuff from him on the net, otherwise he's allso put some stuff on aish.com among other Jewish outreach websites.

Of the interactions between God and his creation
Fossils & Faith: Understanding Torah And Science by Nathan Aviezer (Professor of Physics, Bar-llan University, Israel) is a thoughtful, serious, scholarly analysis of the books of the Bible and the evidence of modern science, and endeavors to show that accepting the truth of God does not mean that one must discard rational thinking. A profound study of both evidence and theology, persuasively argued and with an especial emphasis on the importance of the Torah, Fossils & Faith is a dichotomy between practices filled with meaningful ideas that bear reading for people of all religious faiths. Fossils & Faith is highly recommended reading for students of the complexities and interrelationships of science and religion, of the interactions between God and his creation.

A Young Girl's Past
Francine Christophe's account of her experiences at the French Concentration Camps at Poitiers, Drancy and Beaune-La-Rolande, it is a very interesting book. She tells the story in a very personal way. She leaves nothing out and tells an honest story about her experience in the camps. Her honest writing helped me understand the hardship that a whole group of children survived during War World 2. I would want people to read the book and see what those people went through at those camps.

A woman remebers herself as child in a concentration camp
It is horrible, very real and at the same time beautiful.

Finally, a Bible for Evidenced Based Therapy
Nathan and Gorman have provided mental health practitioners with an essential reference. No practitioner of psychotherapy or psychiatric chemotherapy can afford not to buy this book (purchase price notwithstanding). This compendium reviews treatments for major psychological disorders and offers effect size estimates for the benefits of treatment (i.e., how much better off are people after treatment than if they got no treatment at all). In addition, the authors summarize the quality of the research on which their reviews are based. They not only examine psychologically based treatments, but also medication treatments for some disorders. All practitioners and consumers should read this. As a faculty member in a clinical psychology graduate training program, I recommended this book to my students as optional reading - and almost all of them bought it because they found it invaluable. I hope this authors will choose to update this book every ten years ago (it is very recent, so it needs no updating now). If they do, I have no doubt that Nathan and Gorman will come to be inextricably associated with this monumentally practical work, the way that Gray is associated with Anatomy. Kudos to the authors for giving us this essential reference.

Excellent guide to therapies and their effectiveness
The authors have done a great job of summerizing the effectiveness of a wide range of behavioral health therapies from medications to systematic desensitization and more. Clear and easy to follow. Great book!

Handbook of Federal Indian Law With Reference Tables and Index
Published in Hardcover by William s Hein & Co (1992)
Authors: Felix S. Cohen and Nathan R. Margold
Amazon base price: $98.00
Average review score:

A primary text in the area of federal Indian law.
This is, according to publisher William S. Hein & Co., a "reprint edition" of the Handbook of Federal Indian Law, written by Felix S. Cohen while he was in the Office of the Solicitor at the Department of the Interior. As a reprint, the original title page is included and shows that this is the "Third printing 1942" version. This page also indicates that 1942 was the original date of publication. In other words, this *is* a reprint of the original work by Cohen, and it includes the Foreword by the Secretary of the Interior, Harold L. Ickes; the Introduction by Cohen's supervisor, Nathan R, Margold; and an Acknowledgements section by the author. Hein reproduced this text because the original publication, and a 1971 reprint edition produced by the American Indian Law Center and the University of New Mexico, were out of print, and this is - without doubt - a primary text in the area of federal Indian law. In 1982, an updated version of the Handbook, edited by Rennard Strickland, Charles F. Wilkinson, and others, was published under the title Felix S. Cohen's Handbook of Federal Indian Law (Michie; ISBN 0-87215-413-0). This rendition was described as "a more thorough-going revision of Cohen's work than was first anticipated" (p. x). Their introduction discussed the history, uses, and popularity of the 1942 Handbook and of the 1971 reprint. The 1982 volume, however, was presented in a different manner than Cohen's 1942 Handbook, but it did include legislative and legal materials through March 1981.

The Source for Information on Federal Indian Law
This is the bible for federal indian law. If you can afford only one book on federal indian law, this is the one. The original, written by Felix Cohen and published in 1947 is even better, but it is hard to obtain and very expensive. Rennard Strickland was editor of this updated version.

Healing Racism in America: A Prescription for the Disease

This book changed my life
In an age when the discussion of race has become mired in pointless sociological and intellectual discourse, Nathan Rutstein's "Healing Racism In America" comes as a breath of fresh air. Mr. Rutstein is on the mark when he states that the solutions are spiritual and personal, not legislative or political. Indeed, the book's most candid assertion, that racism is not relegated merely to skinheads wearing white hoods, goes directly to the heart of the matter: mainstream America, however "progressive" or "liberal" it may deem itself, continues to live in denial. However fashionable pointing an indignant and self-righteous finger at the KKK and like-minded groups may be--easy scapegoats for the masses--the average Joe is also implicated. And well-intentioned measures like Civil Rights legislation and Affirmative Action, although placating people initially, have ultimately failed to eliminate the underlying problem (even exacerbating it in some cases). As the book's title implies, the real remedy, like any good prescription, may taste bitter in the mouth at first, but ultimately leads to genuine healing. Do we have the courage to take the medicine?

Should be required reading for every person in America
Nathan Rutstein has given an accurate description of the disease of racism in America. He describes the struggles within ourselves to deny it, identify it, and utimately how we can heal ourselves from this crippling disease. I liked the book because it addressed the idea of unknown racism...rather, racism that you didn't even know was happening because of misconceptions and conditioning in all of us from our learnings and our families. It's a must read for all high school students and should be included in every persons home library.

Husbandry: The Surest, Cheapest Way to Leisure, Plenty, Prosperity & Contentment, Plai Ly Demonstrated

Author: Nathan Griffith
Amazon base price: $18.00

The Best!
Of all the farming/agricultural/rural/back-to-the-land books out there, this one stands above them all. It is concise, easy to read and practical - - It is the only book you need (we've all heard that before, but it's true in this case!)

Good living in the country without tons of money.
Nathan Griffith's "Husbandry" tells how anyone can achieve a good living in the country, even if they don't have lots of money.

It's the only book of its kind I have seen, giving the author's first-hand, no-nonsense accounts of good living by sustainable management of rather small, cheap parcels of land.

The author is a classically trained musician, but for many years has lived primarily from the amazing bounty of his little bit of marginal land in a rural part of Appalachia.

He tells how to find and evaluate country places, how to examine their titles at a courthouse, and how to buy them cheaply.

Then comes a great deal of in-depth guidance on:

1. Preparing the land to support you.

2. Getting drinkable water from it.

3. Raising all types of poultry and livestock on it.

4. How to milk a cow and make butter, cheese, ice cream and yogurt.

5. Butchering meat and making ham, bacon, and excellent sausages.

6. Training draft horses and oxen (even for beginners).

7. Managing pastures and meadows, field crops gardens and orchards.

8. Harvesting sugar, honey and molasses.

9. Preserving food.

10. Rustic Construction, Repairs, Blacksmithing.

11. Making soap, charcoal, lime, leather, etc.

12. Rural sanitation.

13. Saving and improving seeds and crops.

...And on and on. And all of it without dependence on debt, drugs, petroleum, chemicals, gimmicks or outside help.

The book is only about 300 pages, but there's so much on every page it takes quite a while to read it all. There are also plenty of helpful illustrations.

This book is a fascinating look into making a very good living, whether or not you have a "respectable" income.

Reading it has set me to seriously pondering chucking it all, and do like the author has done: Namely, achieve a peaceful, leisurely and independent life, while making the planet a better place to live--at least for myself.

Understand Group Process and Train Leaders
For the part of Leadership that can be learned- that isn't that charismatic indefinable quality- this book is the best. Train all committee members to be leaders and to understand what goes on among them as they work or learn. Group dynamics are not an exact science but neither are they a huge mystery, and this book pulls together solid organizational theory to give a very practical guide to understanding and working with groups. I recommend it highly to all in church leadership (including and especially lay folks.)

A powerhouse of information packed into one paperback.
After critiquing quite a few books, Turner's was by far the best. This can be used by leaders and participants. This book is better than buying several individual books.

New, revised 4th edition
The book gets bigger and better with each new edition. The latest revision just came out in July, 2002. There are about 600 pictures and all are in color. It is by far the most complete book on Louis Icart.

Louis Icart, the complete Etchings.
Anyone remotely interested in the work of French artist and illustrator Louis Icart, will be impressed by the comprehensive presentation of his etchings. The colour printing is excellent, and in chronological order one can see the development of his career, his charming females in various fashion garments of the period, and also nude, curiously rival the work of Australian artist Norman Lindsay, although Linday's nudes are of the buxom variety, and perhaps more agressive than sleek French models whom Icart make so decorative. Icart is firmly in the tradition of great French Art, after painters like Boucher and Watteau. My only small regret there was not more text about Icart, but this is a book of pictures and as such a recommended reference work.

Letting the Character and Person of God Interpret the Bible
Here is a great book for people just beginning to delve into the realms of God's nature and character and work. This book deals with some of the main names/titles of God as found in the Old Testament. God's names and titles are each a sermon in themselves. So often, people define God by first defining who they think, or want, man to be. Nathan Stone turns that around very simply by showing that God is the "mold" into which all other views must fit. God is who He is. We cannot change who God is just to make room for what we want man to be or to make the Bible say what we want it to say. The foundation of Bible interpretation is revelation of the Person of God. That must be determined first before any other doctrinal study can be studied Biblically and accurately. Get a copy of this book and start learning who God is; and accept what God reveals Himself to be, whether you like it or not, because God isn't going to change for us. Then rethink all your doctrinal beliefs in light of your new Biblical understanding of God. Nathan Stone, with this book, will get you well on your way.

A Bible scholar "must have"
This book presents a concise and detailed explanantion of the many names of God as they are used in the Bible. Readers will find it to be spiritually and academically satisfying. There are excellent references to Bible scriptures. This book would be a welcome edition to your Bible reference library.
