This book together with Giselle Freund's "Photography and Society", Susan Sontag's "On Photography", Petruck's "Camera Viewed", Trachtenberg -"Classic Essays on Photography", is essential reading for any student of photography at college level.

This small book from a very small publisher (best known for its lovely facsimile edition of the 1922 Paris edition of ULYSSES) contains some of the best poems published in 1999. It was neglected by poetry reviewers, perhaps because of obscurity of Orchises Press. Nathan has been writing and publishing poems and translations for many years, often with major publishers, but as things go in publishing, because of the quietness of his voice (sometimes desperate never demure) he is neglected now that he is at the height of his powers. Nathan is perhaps the greatest spontaneous and lyrical story-telling poet in the language. I mean the poems look off-the-cuff, but the stories have a matter-of-factness implied by the title and the intensity of fables. These poems exhibit an art so well-managed that once you read them, they sit like pebbles cool in your warm hand. Sure, Nathan handles the big themes -- fate, faith, love, death, loneliness, the ecstasy of beauty, the terrors of time -- but without apology (the ironies are profound and never break the surface of the poem). There's almost an otherworldly sadness in these little fables of consciousness. Nathan's poetry is pure in the only meaningful sense of the word: pure experience. Apparently, Orchises Press has sold out of the first printing. Order it and be part of the wave that coughs up the next printing!

I borrowed "Preventive Cardiology" from the library, and after reading through it, I decided to purchase it! Excellent background of epidemiologic information complete with crisp charts and graphs, great up to date explanations of pathophysiology, well formed treatment recommendations and guidelines presented. There is a wealth of up to date information consistant with the current primary literature on laboratory and diagnositic tests, medications, diet, and patient assessment. "Preventive Cardiology" is well written, easy to read, and a great reference tool for all health care providers.

This book is a must for anyone preparting for their Physics Candidacy exam. The advanced graduate students traditionally pass this book down to the incoming graduate students. Nice challenging probelms with clear solutions. Good luck studying for the exams!

A brilliant review of what we/society have done to "drug" our children in a spending stupor and what we need to do to stem this cultural tide and raise responsible & healthy children when it comes to managing money/spending.

Let me be the first to say I too am part of the problem; I've indulged my child and mis-taught my son with illusions that spending is happiness. Mr. Dugan describes how I/culture are misleading our children, if not selling them out, for the sake of marketing gain: business profit over our children's happiness. We're allowing business advertising to be the stewards of our children's spending/financial health. Mr. Dungan shows us how to take back that stewardship and how not to abdicate our child-rearing responsibility (about spending) and what to do to raise wise-spending young adults.

I have a few years to try to undo whatever harm I may have wrought. Of course, it's hard to rectify a bad habit once started, so I envy those of you who get to Nathan's book early. For those of us who can't, I advise we buy a copy for each child, tell them upfront what we intend to do & why, and then go about the task of raising spending responsible children, and in doing so, healthier, happier young people.

The books title is true. If you don't have alot time to learn Access, this small book will give you a crash course that still manages to teach some of the most important topics. I have looked at and used other books and this is the best short course I've seen.

This book is recognized as a classical worldwide. Indeed, it is the most comprehensive book on wave propagation, diffraction, and scattering to be found nowadays over 20 years after it was written. No wander it is referred to as "the bible" of electromagnetics. It is a must for any one in the business of electromagnetics, analytical or numerical and it is the only book I own that is frequently used both for research and as a graduate course textbook.
