An exceptionally good mystery
I found this book in the new books section of my local library. It was is a fun, relatively quick-and-easy-to-read mystery. The characters are well-developed, interesting and engaging. The book is about the author of a murder mystery. The author has an anonymous fan who treats the author as if the author were a character in his murder mystery. The anonymous fan recreates the murders in that murder mystery, sequentially, following the murder mystery chapter by chapter. The author, both on his own and somewhat cooperating with the police, needs to find the fan before he reaches the end of the book, because the end of the book is where the character in the book's wife gets murdered. (It is hard to explain, but easy to follow. This is a fun book, not a deep, challenging book.) The setting is familiar to Dick Francis fans: horse barns and racetracks in England. This book was a lot of fun to read, and I would recommend it to a friend. Once I started reading it, it was hard to put down. I would give it five stars. Maybe four and three quarters - the ending was not the greatest, a bit predictable, not too exciting. This is a really good book, though, seriously.

Wonderfully Illustrated and Painted!
I have been following the emerging artistic talent of Craig Orback (the illustrator of Nathan Hale: Patriot Spy) for a few years now. I have always admired his work, and now, with this book (his first I believe), I get to see how talented this young artist REALLY is.

His use of color and composition for his work is stunning and the artwork helps bring this story to life in a really great way.
The illustrations/paintings recall older, classic, illustration styles from books like Treasure Island and Robinson Crusoe.

Really well done!

somewhat informative of Hale's participation but questions
Nathan Hale was an interesting individual who seemed to be used as a scapegoat. He was willing to give his life for what he believed.

Thoughtfull, touching, entertaining, classical literature
I first read this book (actually it is a play) in highschool and though I generally hated to be forced to read a book I really loved this one. I finished way ahead of schedule.

The reason: this book is extremely very well and has an up-to-date message even though it was written several 100 years back. The story is abou a Jewish merchant called Nathan, a templar and Nathan's daughter and the love between the templar and the daughter and the conflicts arising from it.

It is set in the time of the crusades and its message is: it does not matter which religion you believe in as long as you are a decent human being. This message was only written in a play because the author was officially forbidden from teaching his reconciliatory views on religion in university! It must have been a hardship for him, but today we can enjoy a literary masterpiece for just that reason. For me it is a perfect book and it might very well be the same for you.

Nathan the Wise, Minna Von Barnhelm, and Other Plays and Writings (German Library, Vol 12)

One of worlds masterpieces
"Nathan the Wise" is one of the greatest and wisest dramas I ever read, not only the picturesque and interesting backround but also the wise, idealistic and forwardlooking image that the author produces makes the drama worth being read by everybody. Lessing wrote this drama two-hundred years ago and that fact makes it even more interesting to see the message that it tries to spread, because in our-days-world the demand for humanity and tolerance is more important than ever.

Perhaps Collin's best, it has the distinction of being (like Raymond Chandler's The Long Goodbye) an excellent novel which also happens to be a detective novel.

Completely different from anything else Drake has written
This collection of related short stories is completely different in tone, topic, and style from anything else that David Drake has written. Nathan was not yet 20 years old when he fought in the Battle at Green Mountain during the American Revolutionary war and something happened to him that changed the path of his entire life, though we don't find out what until the final story in the book. These stories take place more than 50 years later, when Nathan is coming to the end of his life. In each story he uses his magic to help a different person, often not in the manner they expected or even desired. The hill-billy vernacular, and his conversations with the animals around him, especially his bull, are fascinating in the way in which they fit in with the plot, the animals innate nature, and the fact that the humans around Nathan only understand Nathan's half of the converstions. Once you pick up this book, you won't be able to put it down

GREAT BOOK!
Small book (pocket size), packed with 54 simple, yet mind-blowing ideas.
This is a practical book which can help a person attain a transcendant spiritual experience and get in touch with thier true inner self.
It is a translation of snipets from a major teaching of the 17th century Mystic, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. It is ancient yet speaks directly to the modern soul.
Easy to use techniques. Quick results. This book can help you through life. Get in touch with the infinite light within you.

In brief, this book teaches a meditation called "hitbodedut". It is an active and reactive form of meditation which is a low level of prophecy. It is when a person speaks to God who lies within each person essence. After doing this for a while, a person recieves clear responses and they walk away feeling as if they just had a profound conversation with a really good friend or psycologist. This daily meditation gives one clarity through tough times, helps one make decisions, and overall gives us the piece of mind we all yearn for.
