Some of my favorite recipes are in this book!
This book is essential for any holiday family traditions. Ms. Nathan not only shares some wonderful recipes (try the Orange Chicken - it's easy, fun and OUT OF THIS WORLD!......) but she also shares her family's traditions and give you wonderful ideas to enhance your own celebrations. My family loves this book and we refer to it on a regular basis.

I would give it more stars if I could!....

The Coach and Us: The True Story of the Birth of Holistic Basketball

A letter to the authors
Dear Mr. Yellen and Mr. Kozak,

I just finished reading your book, 'Coach and Us.' I am an avid golfer and found quite a few relevant tips for improving my game.

Your book discusses taking control of the mind and will. Many golf improvement books suggest the same, but don't explain how to do it.

Your book not only explains how to take control, but also illustrates how greater commitment, more practice, clearer thinking and a better attitude, relate to many goals in life.

I will follow the precepts in the book to improve my golf game (I'm sure my handicap will drop); I will also use them to enhance my life.

'Coach and Us' is more than a basketball book, albeit a great one, it is a guide for self-improvement. Thank you for writing such an inspirational story!

Concurrency Control and Recovery in Database Systems
Published in Hardcover by Addison-Wesley Publishing (1987)
Authors: Philip A. Bernstein, Vassos Hadzilacos, Nathan Goodman, and Vassos Radzilacos
Amazon base price: $42.00
Used price: $23.00

Best book for Transaction Manangement & Concurrency Control
The Concurrency Control and Recovery in Database Systems, by Bernstein, Hadzilacos and Goodman is the jewel for the Theory of Transaction Management and Concurrency Control in Database Systems. Despite of the fact that it is out of print (the last edition going back to 1987), it is still consider up to date and the best source for important aspects of the implementation of the transaction manager of a DBMS such as: - Transaction design -- query formulation, isolation, degree desired, and transaction length - Serializabilty -- criterion for serializability, serialization graph, serialization order - Atomicity -- avoiding dirty reads, repeatable reads, phantom reads - Concurrency control -- two phase locking, resource & data contention, thrashing, detect deadlocks, intention locks, deadlock avoidance protocols, other concurrency control mechanisms - Recovery -- tolerating failures and guaranteeing atomicity, quantitative conclusions

Again, I would recommend this textbook to anyone who interests in the theory of Database Systems in general and at the Theory of Transaction Management in particular.

Regards, Prof. Sarbanes C U N Y Queens College

P.S. : I am looking for adopting this book for my database course for the Fall 2000, but I can NOT find this text book easily. Any help for this matter, would be greatly appreciated.

China for Dummies
The contemporary Atlas of China is a great place to go to find quick answers to all questions regarding China. The pictures and art work are excellent and there is just enough text to inform you about China, without over doing it and boring you. My kids loved using this resource because it provided conscise answers to their many questions - we continue to use this book to help better understand current events in China. This is much better than any encyclopedia or any flashy web page because you can pull it off the shelf at any time amd quickly get some insight as to why the Chinese gov't or people may be doing something that we in the U.S. don't understand.

Crucial book for helping you bring more harmony to each day
This is one of the best books I have read. I read every word. It provides brilliant ways for you to bring calmness to upset people, convey your support and help people feel deep rapport with you. As America's Communication Coach, I quote from this book during my presentations. As a motion picture director completing "LIVING, the motion picture," I use these methods to uplift my team members through the stress of filmmaking.

Interesting, Historical Fiction, Perfect Book for a 9-l4 boy
Very interesting book about a cattle drive, a boy and his friends. Very descriptive without being boring. A good story for any boy. My sons, ages 6, 9, and l4 have read, or been read to, the entire series. It has some parts where Nathan gets into trouble and has to figure his way out. There are gun slingers and fights. Nothing dirty. He does call upon God to help him. Any boy Christian or not would enjoy this book. Very well written, a good story. A boy (or girl) could easily relate to this. It's one of those books I (a mother) looked forward to reading to my sons.
