"First with the Most" Forrest.
Published in Hardcover by Bdd Promotional Book Co (1991)
Author: Robert Selph Henry
Amazon base price: $105.00
Average review score:

Excellent concentration on Forrest's campaigns
Forrest was an amazing man, a complex man, before, during and after the Civil War. Men despised him because he was so bloody effective, but those same men were forced to grudging respect of Forrest's brilliance. This is not a balanced view of his life, but an excellent concentration of his campaigns. I would suggest reading Jack Hurst's work and John Allan Wyeth's in connection to this book. I have seen some grump because Hurst did not have maps and military information in his book. This will give them all the information they need.

Henry work is essential to understanding the whole, but the other two works should be utilised in conjunction to obtain a fully understanding. I cannot recommend them enough for someone starting in the search for a man that is so amazing.

Flo Jo and the Funny Suits
(3 elementary students: ...): It's a very interesting book. It tells about Flo Jo's one-legged suits and her unique personal style. It inspires people never to give up on something you love a lot. There were times when Flo Jo was worried she wouldn't be able to compete, but somehow she perservered through the difficult times. In this book you will find out that Flo Jo made many new world records in running. (We don't understand how she could sign autographs with her six-inch long fingernails!!) Flo Jo wasn't allowed to run in the hand off relay because her fingernails were too long. In the end, the the coaches let her keep them (the second time). We would recommend this book for people who are looking for a good biography and love running. We think the reading level for this book is appropriate for grades 3 and up, or as a Read Aloud for grades 2 and up.

Robert Frost who? We want more Matney!!
I was sitting at work today pondering life, love, and happiness when I came to the realization that all the answers are in a collection of poetry I had recently read, called 'For A Year Or Two.....'

A the ripe age of 26, Mr. Nathan T. Matney has managed to fashion a book with more introspective thought than can be found in the most popular Lando and Vada collections...one could even argue that his razor sharp combination of wit, charm, introspection, and self-deprecation couldn't be matched by anything put out since the days of Harriet Tubman and/or the Louisiana Purchase. One could argue that. Or, about that one could argue. Or, that one could about argue.....or something. Help me out Nathan T....

But digress I do. The effect this book has had on me is extraordinary in that I haven't been able to make a movement for days. I can no longer eat, sleep, or drink and my thoughts are running wild with...something or other.

Kudos to you, Nathan T Matney. I've recommended this book to all 5 of my friends, so I expect some kickbacks when the checks come your way.

Highly recommended
Exposes the Founding Fathers for what they really were. Gives us a new perspective from which to view our system of government and the people who run it. Not for die-hard patriots. For: those who always felt their high school history books were leaving something out! Makes you appreciate other cultures' ways, especially the Native Americans...specifically the Iroquois. Easy read.

Frege's Puzzle
Published in Paperback by MIT Press (1986)
Author: Nathan Salmon
Amazon base price: $12.50
Used price: $13.95
Average review score:

Heart-rending Romantic Tale
An outstanding work of unmistakable brilliance! Frege's Puzzle is THE philosophical problem of the latter half of the 20th C. (excluding world hunger and the brad pitt-gwyneth paltrow breakup). if you do not own and read this book (buy now!), then you will never know whether Lois Lane believes Clark Kent is really identical with Superman.

Russell thought that Frege's Puzzle was a pretty serious concern (he wore out several leisure suits worrying about it), and here Salmon defends what has been termed the Millian (who?) or naive theory of descriptions. It is a clear and rigorous case in favor of a semantics of direct reference and propositional attitudes.

This book is destined to become a classic, along with Moby-Dick, Hamlet, and 'Bugsy Wabbit.'

If you like the show, you'll like spending 3 hours with this
This is a refreshing way to spend your time listening to some of the best interviews from the show. I like the show but sometimes don't have time to catch it on NPR. This audio set gives me lots of the memorable interviews I've heard or partially heard over the years. It's a great collection of some of the folks who are major influences in their work. The inquisitive and probing questions of Terry Gross really open up conversations with the likes of Tracy Ullman and Dennis Franz, they sound like us. These are wonderful snippets of real life.
