Otto Ping was an early 20th century photographer, who did work while secluded in the back hills of rural Indiana. His work is noteworthy not only because of his results that are comparable to the work of the famous Dorothea Lange, but also because he was complely self taught in the art and science of the then emerging art form. He had an instictively unerring eye for images which transcend time. The photos speak directly to the modern reader, comments by the well known art historian Douglas Hartley add depth to the book. A wonderful piece of midwestern history.

When I read this book to my grandchildren they really had fun. Otto is a regular kid that shoves his feeling in a box when he doesn't know what else to do. This silly box grows and grows until it cannot hold the feelings in any more. When the box explodes this slimmy goo gets all over the town. Otto's Dad comes to the resue and has a talk with Otto. It is a very warm talk that makes Otto feel so much better. They talk about not putting your feelings in a box. Otto's Dad lets Otto know that everyone has trouble letting their feelings out. Including Dads.
I loved the silly goo and so did my grand kids we all giggled and had fun.

This book was a refreshing change of pace. The content was real with an excited, happy boy wanting to play and please his loving and busy mom. A typical mom with projects to complete - and typically crazy about her child. When mom corrects her son - it is what moms really say and do when trying to juggle home office and bored children. The solution is real too! Many moms and kids will relate to this "rainy day" situation. My son and I love this book. It is usually in his top 5 when reading to him. He is an "all boy" 3 year old!

Here's a how-to book whose title doesn't do it justice. Indeed it has twenty floral arrangements, with background detail for each of the six historical periods they represent, but more importantly it's densely packed with information about materials, tools and techniques that miniaturists can apply to other plants and flowers. An ideal book for beginners without being simplistic. Good value.

This book is an excellent resource for helping those entering or presently involved in ministry or Christian service to learn their natural ministry abilities. Based on the Myers-Briggs Temperment Inventory, the strengths and weaknesses of all the personality type indicators are detailed and discussed with candor, compassion and objectivity. Understanding the natural strengths and weaknesses one possesses will help greatly in doing ministry. It will also aid in identifying an area where one may be experiencing a call or strong interest. This book is an effective tool to aid in the sorting and experimenting process. While the authors are experienced professionals in the use of the MBTI within the business community, their knowledge of human personality in ministry and spiritual leadership is well researched and integrated in this book.

Very good book for anyone working with cancer pts. Hospice nurses, home health nurses, or anyone involved with chemotherapy. Simple to locate information, good explainations. I work in both Hospice and with outpatient chemotherapy. Have recommended and ordered for coworkers. Have used when preparing talks for nursing students.

echocardiography examination has to take the clinical picture into consideration. the echo-diagnosis has to be in a sense a clinical diagnosis. thus echocardiography is a specialised cardiology consultation. this is the underlying philosophy of 11 edition of practice of clinical echocardiography. the chapters are written to address different clinical situations. the chapter on vulvular regurgitations deals with the different patho-physiology of mitral and aortic regurgitaions... what is contractile dysfunction and which echo parameters detect it. finally what type of surgery is more successful, for instance chordal sparing valve replacement or reconstruction.
the chapter on hypertension is also remarkable on clarity. in fact it is futuristic and visualises ,the nature of treatment, nutritional or drugs therapy, based on echocardiography.
next how to proceed with a case of atrial fibrillation, or systemic embolisation or endocarditis. in fact all clinical situations are described in details which is astonishing and with different perpective compared to available texts on echocardiography.it is a change in focus, towards integrated and correlative approach to echocardiography.

Not only an excellent introduction to the treatment of patients with borderline personality disorder, but also an extremely lucid explanation of object relations theory and its application. Because the authors define "borderline personality organization" quite broadly, the techniques they outline are applicable to nearly all patients in long-term, insight-oriented psychotherapy. This is by far the best introduction to the murky world of object relations theory, and to the work of Otto Kernberg, that I have yet encountered. In spite of its cumbersome title, it is probably destined to become a classic.As Peter Fonagy says on the back cover: "It is a must have."
