Right on Target
With so much to absorb in so few hours during the day, this beautiful book allows us to glean the jewels from ACIM and immediately receive the full benefits of its purpose--a gift of peace and healing with generous reassurances of love. It is thoughtfully compiled and offers delightful food for thought for so many of us that are short on time, but still long for spiritual sustenance. I plan to include it on my holiday gift list for friends and family. Peace

A great distillation of the Course's main message
I found the Course to be too dense. This, however, is just right. It has all the essential truth in a much easier to digest form.

Thank You Marianne and company,

Daniel

Wonderful.
I'm not a serious student of ACIM, but have a passing familiarity from the books and tapes of Marianne Williamson and others. This volume, which I found purely by accident (are there accidents?), is a beautiful collection of quotes from the course. Reading it serially, or picking it up and opening to any page leaves one with a true sense of peace. I would absolutely recommend it for those who find the full text of the Course too much to take on.

Hit home
My father spent many years in canadian prisons and I read his copy of the book. He endured alot of the same experiences as Roger. Ithink the book helped my father tell me what he found so painful to express. As the the bible says the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. But I think Mr. Caron helped plant a new seed. A realistic look at prison life without having to go there myself.

Phenomenal
This book is so easy to read. I'm not a reader and books aren't my passion but this masterpiece kept me going till the end. For those who don't like to read or who are forced, I suggest you start reading this work of art!

A must read, difficult to put down
This book has really opened my eyes to prison life in the early years. I had the opportunity to meet Rodger and he discussed his early years in prison. The sad part was he stated prison life became an easier life for those long time felons. He is once again behind bars, his words must be true. He has witten two other books, JO JO and Bingo, excellent reads.

This book really gave me new insights
A wonderfully well-written, amazingly informative book on women's psyches. I recommend it to everyone - man and woman. You will be glad you read it.

Lyrically written, perceptive & worthwhile read
I think this book contains a wonderful mix of legends and folklore, along with articles, poetry and of course, a Jungian analysis that is multi-dimensional. If you're interested in mythology and analyzing the characteristics or relationships of the Roman/Greek goddesses, this is the book to read.

An Introduction to the Aspects of The Goddess
This book was recommended by my niece, a psychologist, about eight years ago. I devoured it and re-read many sections. It was a learning experience and a growing experience for me. It assisted in opening my heart and my mind to the strengths present in myself. I have begun the wonderful journey of paganism within the last year. Because of this book, I was familiar with many secular concepts of the mythology of the Goddess and quite accepting of the Divine within my heart. It cleared up many misconception that have been erroneously perpetuated throughout history regarding the journey of the pagan. Yet it also is relevent to ALL women of all faiths. It brings our strengths to the surface and makes us proud of who and what we are.

The best little book I have ever read
This book was funny and moving. It made me cry. I loved it so much. Anyone and everyone should buy this book. It completely disproves that you have to be famous to write a great book.

one night
I came home tired and discussed with work, people, life. I saw a copy of the book on the table and picked it up out of boredom. After the secound chapter I couldn't put it down. I stayed up all night and read. This book has given me knew perspective on live. I cried for a half hour after I finished and now I want to share it with everyone I know,.And the scholarship fund what a fabulous idea! You won't be sorry if you purchase this book.

Heart to Heart Worlds Apart
I read this book when it first came out and was so impressed that I bought several others to share with my friends and family.

This book is easy to read and is so touching. It's a book that everyone should pick up. It taught me so much about how to love others, no matter what race, creed or color. What an awesome example this author is to everyone in the world. If everyone could feel the same way as she does, there would be peace throughout the land.

I'm still buying more books to help share her message and I hope that everyone else will too. It would be awesome to help some of these less fortunate people be able to get a college education. Don't miss this book!

A Fantastic Tool
As one begins to learn the homeopathic methodology, repertorising is a difficult, if not ominous endeavor. This book helps to sort out the many nuances of old, and clarify much of the "older" jargon. This puts the learning curve back in the present! I have utilized this book extensively in my studies with the British Institute of Homeopathy. I recommend it highly!

Excellent book for the novice homeopathic practitioner
This is the kind of book I've been looking for for ages! It explains to the novice homeopath just how to begin taking a case and using the Repertory in practical terms. Wonderful! It also includes simple history-taking forms & templates. I highly recommend this book!

Very Helpful Reference
My mother has found this book to be a very informative and helpful reference. When she started losing some of her plants to rot, the book explained what it was and how to treat it.

Finally, an iris book that talks about borers
"The Gardener's Iris Book" describes itself as an introductory book for American gardeners. In my own experience, books about irises tend to fall into two categories: beautiful and fun to read, but not particularly useful or well-organized; and books that I can take out into the garden and actually use. This volume manages to straddle both categories, which is good because I like to look at beautiful pictures of irises, but I've also discovered that they are not particularly easy to grow. I've lost two complete plantings of Bearded Irises to borers, and even managed to kill off a bed of hardy Siberian irises.

Why bother with a touchy plant that has such a short growing season? That's easy: because they're one of the most beautiful flowers in the garden when they do bloom.

The author has a gift for clear, succinct phrasing, very well-suited for a 'how to' manual on growing irises. He also loves his subject--in the chapter on Louisiana Irises, he refers to himself as 'Johnny Iris Seed' because of his habit of planting his extra rhizomes in the mud at the margins of farm ponds, park pools, or even roadside ditches. "Most will establish themselves and give pleasure to passersby in years to come."

After forty years of growing irises, he has learned that a good garden springs from a healthy, living soil. He suggests using pesticides and commercial fertilizers only as a last resort. For instance, in the section on Iris borers, he starts with the least toxic methods for ridding your garden of these pests: carefully clean up your garden debris in late fall and early spring to limit the number of borers that will hatch. Monitor the young foliage fans for notches, then pinch the fan below the notches to squash any burrower (a mano a mano approach not recommended for the squeamish).

Irises can also be treated with beneficial nematodes. I tried this method one year with some success, although the neighbors probably wondered why I was running around with what looked like a horse hypodermic and sticking it into iris stems. According to this author, the nematodes can be sprayed on plants or used as a soil drench, so I can throw away my hypo.

"The Gardener's Iris Book" is fun to read straight through to the appendices on Iris specialist nurseries (listed by state), and iris books and computer resources. However the book is divided into sections that treat irises with similar growing characteristics, e.g. those requiring substantial moisture or those that thrive in dry conditions. These useful subdivisions allow the reader-in-a-hurry to concentrate on the irises that thrive in an environment most closely resembling his or her own garden.

The Gardener's Iris Book is fabulous!
With fabulous photography by Roger Foley et al, this is an indispensable reference on irises for newcomers to these flags or old-times iris lovers. All the essential care needed for a spectacular display of these moving flowers. The Gardener's Iris Book is a wonderful way to learn how to tend your new crop of these amazing & historic plants. This is a book I've often re-read, the information I keep gleaning comes just at the right time. END

Hiring Great People

A Good Read!
Kevin C. Klinvex, Matthew S. O'Connell, and Christopher P. Klinvex present a guide to creating a more effective hiring process. They cover each step, from defining the job to hiring the best person. The book provides techniques for attracting the right employees through advertising and promotion. It also covers effective use of applications, interviews, testing, and background checks. This book is clear, well-organized, and easy-to-read. While some of the suggestions may be obvious to those who are experienced at hiring, they are presented in a careful, step-by-step way. We at getAbstract recommend this book to those involved in the hiring process in larger companies, from company owners and top managers to human resource professionals. Small business owners who wish to use more sophisticated hiring techniques may also find it useful.

Outstanding
Hiring Great People provides an excellent, common sense approach to handling some of today's more challenging staffing issues. From recruiting to orientation and everything in between, hiring managers can depend on the sound advice presented by Klinvex, Klinvex and O'Connell.

Professional Must Have
Whether in your briefcase or on the bookshelf, this is a must have for the human resources professional or for any professional involved in selection and hiring. This book is really appropriate for any audience. I have used it as a textbook with my graduate personnel selection classes.

Hiring Great People is a well-written, easy to read book. At the same time, it presents highly technical information in a format which demonstrates how such information can be turned into practice. There are may useful hints, guidelines and forms in the book. As I have indicated above, I have used this book as a text in graduate courses. It is more valuable than books which cost five times as much.

This is not a book about fluff or fads -- it deals with the latest research and technology in the practice of personnel selection in a highly readable fashion. I find myself turning to it repeatedly for advice on topics such as interviewing and competency assessment.

Best study Bible!
I love this Bible - I make sure this is the Bible our church gets for our graduation gifts for the seniors every year - it's also the Bible I bought my wife. The print is clear, and it's a durable Bible with lots of accurate notes.

A wealth of info, a great buy!
This study Bible is one of the best versions out there. It is very easy to follow and understand. It has outlines and footnotes that allow you to apply each verse to everyday life.

BEST STUDY BIBLE AVAILABLE
I am a Seminary student and have gone through many study bibles. However, this work by W.A. Criswell is by far the best in the business.

How to Play Guitar: A New Book for Everyone Interested in the Guitar
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (1980)
Author: Roger Evans
Amazon base price: $10.95
Used price: $8.95

Relearning to play...
After having my guitar stolen 20 years ago, I lost interest in ever playing again. But now I have rekindled interest to reteach myself to play, most importantly to teach my son to play. This book has helped tremendously in relearning everything that I had forgotten about the guitar. The lessons are simple to follow with step by step finger placements and illustrations.

For the Absolute Beginner
I wanted to learn to play guitar but had no idea where to start. I didn't even know how to change the strings on my guitar. Luckily I found this book. This book teaches you everything you need to know including how to string, tune, and hold your guitar. I learned to play chords and finger picking faster than I ever thought possible. The slow, iterative approach builds upon previous lessons which give you the skills to tackle the next lesson. A lot of books I have seen throw you right into the deep end which can be frustrating for beginners. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how to play a guitar. If not for this book I probably would have become frustrated and quit playing before I even began.

The best choice for anyone just starting--really!
I just happened upon this book by chance when first beginning my quest for literature on guitar instruction. Simply put, I didn't want to pay for lessons from the very beginning if all I needed were some basics (holding the guitar, tuning, learning the parts of the guitar, some basic tunes and chords, etc.) to get my feet wet. I was previously intimidated by guitars and guitar playing, sure it was hopelessly complicated. Evans' easy and approachable text, very good illustrations and slow, step-by-step instructions totally changed my outlook. I've learned so much already, and I barely play four chords well! Although most of the tunes you learn early on in the book aren't necessarily "popular" ones, they get the job done. Later on in the book you learn the skills to approach any kind of music. In my opinion, it's the best bargain out there. My only suggestions would be a spiral binding and accompanying CD for future editions.
