It is up to the consumer to fix the american economy
Roger Simmermaker does a very good job of showing why "consumer patriotism" is so important in improving our economy. He not only presents a well thought out and easy to read discussion, but also lists an enormous variety of products - giving details on which country they are made, and whether or not the company that makes them is a U.S. or foreign owned company. This is important information for all of us to know so that we can make well informed purchases. For example, some of the best automobile tires in the world are made in the U.S. by U.S. owned companies such as Cooper, Goodyear, and Kelly. However, most people don't realize that Michelin, General, BF Goodrich, Bridgestone, Firestone, Dunlop, Pirelli, Toyo and Uniroyal are all made by foreign companies, often in foreign countries. What does this mean? When you buy the american made products you keep american families employed. When you buy foreign made products, you send your money off to some foreign country, adding to our trade deficit, putting americans out of work, and decreasing the amount of tax dollars available to the federal government and the states. Every American who wants a strong U.S. economy and good jobs available for their families and friends needs to read this book before making any more purchases.

A Real Guide For What We Can Do About This Mess
Are you shocked when you enter a store and can't find anything at all made in America? Would you honestly like to do something about it? Roger Simmermaker's book not only explains what is going on but offers a practical manual for how we as consumers can positively start to turn this situation around. I wish I could afford to buy a hundred of these books and start passing them around to my friends and coworkers.

Excellent Book
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in doing their part to keep the U.S. economy strong and to keep Americans employed. It's time for all of us to stop complaining about our economy and start fixing it by purchasing American products. The job you save may be your own!

This book is exactly what I have needed for my christian wal
I am going through a transistion in my christian life that has given me such a thirst for the word of God and a thirst for a deeper powerful prayer life. Each time that I am awakened at 6:00 in the morning I know that I am going to have a special time with the Lord. I looked down at the end of my bed yesterday when I was awakened and this book was there. I finally figured out where it had come from, but I had had it for about a year without actually "seeing" it. I picked it up and I knew I was suppose to read the book with my devotions this am. I started reading the book and could not put it down. The Holy Spirit began a work in my heart and life learning about a much deeper prayer life that Roger Morneau has experienced. Every story and example taught me how precious it is to call on Jesus. I have had similar experiences of my own and many times the same type of prayer had gone out and I have seen God work quickly and sweetly. This book is a book that every christian, new in christ, and old in christ, needs to read to increase their prayer life with Christ to a much more meaninful deeper walk with Jesus. I wish that I could meet Roger Morneau and be in his meetings. What a wonderful 127 pages of blessing. Thank you Roger Morneau and thank you Jesus for your inspiration to Roger to write this for us. Shelva Christian

Each Story is a Celebration!
...a celebration of the power and faithfulness of the Almighty God. A simple, straight-forward personal testimony of the power of God in the human life -- very inspiring, very heartening, very faith provoking! Wonderful stories of answered prayer, angelic intervention, and the power of intercessory prayer. Also, check out Garrie F. Williams' books on the Holy Spirit, which have similar inspiring true-life stories and personal experiences. Both Morneau and Williams employ only the Bible as reference guides, and both are right on the mark. If you can get a copy of it, also pick up Morneau's "Trip into the Supernatural," which although terrifying, is awe inspiring -- a vivid depiction of how the Shepherd will leave the sheep to find the one lost lamb.

A Must Read For Building Faith in The Power of Prayer!
This book was excellent in my opinion. Roger Morneau gave testimony and example one after another of how God answered his prayers and those of people he met in his life. He did not fill up his book with personal opinion, but instead placed scripture and examples there clearly for us to just take it and run with it or not. I highly recommend it.

A brutal title for a quite fiendly book
"Creativity...what's it good for and how to get it for yourself" might be a less confrontational title, but maybe not as "creative. Von Oech doe an amazing job in presenting a 4 part strategy for becoming more creative. His book is full of illuminating excercizes and I've found it to be a great text for a college class which I teach: "Stimulating Creative Behavior" class.

The only criticism I might have is that he hasn't included a section on feedback in the creative process. In addition to his aptly titled four creative roles of "Explorer," "Artist", "Judge," and "Warrior,"I have added the "the Returns Manager." Would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in getting a creative edge in any field. The chapters are full of ways to bring out the natural creativity within everyone. You can't go wrong with this book.

First a Whack...Then a Kick
This book should be read in combination with A Whack on the Side of the Head...preferably after you have read that book. At least that's my suggestion. In Kick, first published in 1986, von Oech introduces four stereotypes:

The Explorer

The Artist

The Judge

The Warrior

Von Oech devotes a separate chapter to each. Also, he assigns to each quite different values, priorities, mind sets, predispositions, and parameters relative to creative thinking. This is a brilliant conceit. In varying proportions, each of us is (simultaneously) an Explorer, an Artist, a Judge, and a Warrior. Each plays an important role in the creative process. Von Oech explains how and why.

As in A Whack on the Side of the Head, he provides various exercises in combination with a rigorous analysis of each of the four stereotypes. As is true of Whack, Kick will be immensely valuable to executives in any organization which needs a culture within which to generate and then nourish fresh ideas and new perspectives. The same is true of all self-employed people (especially independent consultants) whose customers or clients expect them to address the same need. Finally, I think that school, college, and university classroom teachers can devise all manner of appropriate applications of von Oech's ideas.

I strongly suggest that you buy both Whack and Kick. Also Roger von Oech's Creative Whack Pack. Read and then re-read all three. Absorb and digest the material. Let the ideas percolate for a while. (The material in all three is remarkably cohesive...and intellectually combustible.) Then try this experiment the next time you and others in your organization get together to brainstorm. Whoever chairs the discussion is designated the Judge. Depending on the size of the group, designate one or two others to be (respectively) the Explorer, the Artist, and the Warrior. Require everyone to think and comment ONLY within the strict limits of each assigned role. After about 15-20 minutes of brainstorming, re-assign all roles. Same requirement: each must think and comment only within the strict limits of her or his role. No exceptions.(Once you read Kick, you'll know exactly what I am suggesting...also why.) I'll bet you a beverage of your choice that the results will surprise and delight everyone involved. Also, and more to the point, it will prove to be the most productive brainstorm session that anyone in the group had as yet participated in. Just think (creatively, of course) how much more will be accomplished at the next session!

In addition to von Oech's A Whack on the Side of the Head, there are other excellent books also worthy of your consideration. They include those written by Edward de Bono, Guy Claxton, Michael Michalko, and Joey Reiman.

Inspirational!
I sure did get a whack on the side of my head. Claiming not to be a writer, I just received an acceptance for my first manuscript. The idea for my book was inspired after reading A Whack on the Side of the Head. I carry it with me as if it were my bible.

AN EXTRAORDINARY FIRST VOLUME
As a former reviewer with Publishers Weekly, I can only say that it was a great mistake for PW to pass on reviewing this volume. They blew it! The only thing this landmark work of a great American poet lacks is a recognizable name and established reputation. If you can't find it anywhere else, go to a library and try to find it.

This small volume of work gets my highest praise.
I do poetry criticism for a poetry journal in Vancouver, B.C. A friend passed this collection of poems on to me, and I was deeply impressed with the sophistication and originality of the langauage, the striking imagery and the multiple layers of meaning packed into the symbols and metpahors used. This is truly a masterwork by a writer of immense gifts.

GREAT STUFF! WHAT AN AMAZING WRITER!
Here is a major voice in American verse. The first part of the book has poems that are imaginative, deeply imagistic and original. The second part of the book is even better with poems that offer a profound if soemwhat obscure vision. This is perhaps the most powerful philosophical poetry since T.S. Eliot. What a fantastic read!

Heartfelt mystery
This is a complex and deeply felt tale that uses the mystery form brilliantly. I am great fan of Simon's books.

Moses Wine for a new era
This may be the best book in a superb series.

Brilliant, better than the author's The Big Fix
I think this is the best Moses Wine novel.

great in-depth curriculum
This secular curriculum has been an invaluable resource in the homeschooling of my son this year. The lesson plans are very in-depth, easy to follow and well thought out. I also appreciate the wealth of added lesson plans and activites that are included. I supplement and subtract according to the level of my son's understanding. It's a great guide for me as his teacher. The only negative I've found is with the quality of the paperback itself. The cover tears from the book binding. This happened with both books I bought. The first book I returned. My second book just tore recently. I would recommend if this book is printed again that the publishers consider putting it in a ring binder which would better hold up and be more practical in a homeschool setting. Overall, I highly recommend this book to homeschoolers.

Can't Ask For Much More!
This is my first year homeschooling and this book has been my lifesaver. It lays everything out for me so I spend more time educating my son instead of developing lesson plans. The only thing that was frustrating for me was having to flip back and forth between the sections. This and copying the accompanying worksheets probably contributed to my front cover separating from the book. I like the fact that I can supplement or substitute in areas that I choose. Overall, a must have for the homeschooling family on a budget.

We love it!
I am currently homeschooling my 5-year-old daughter using this curriculum and so far it has been an absolute pleasure! The daily lesson plans and supporting activities provide an excellent springboard for us to work from. The corresponding worksheets are not only educational, they're also fun for my daughter to do. I can't print them up fast enough for her!

I don't know whether or not they fixed the problem with the binding (see below), but so far I've scanned most of the worksheets in the book and it's held up very well.

This book is concise, thorough and easy to navigate. I highly recommend it to anyone who has decided to homeschool their first-grader and doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg for their curriculum.

Robin Williams move over
This is a funny book and much more! Great humor to help relieve the sadness of recent events. Also very empowering. I'm a definite "type A" ... lead a very successful and stressful life.
By pumping up my sense of humor and using the author's tips I feel much more relaxed and in control of stuff. Another great side effect is I've discovered laughing my way to sleep helps me sleep soundly and wake up in a good mood. I now relish my nightly reading time. It's like having a good box of chocolates, without the guilt (I'm Catholic). And with my new humor muscle, no one's falling asleep on me any more during my presentations. My only complaint is that I will reach the end soon and there is no sequel yet. I just may read it again.

I recommend this book for presenters because
It is beneficial to presenters because:

It is an easy read, entertaining, funny & instructional. For anyone wanting to be a comedian, a professional speaker, or just wanting to add humor to their life, this is a must-read!

If you want to learn about laughing, personal benefits of humor, why we laugh, or how to see the funny side of life, this is a great place to start.

If you are a professional presenter, or want to be, this book takes you, step by step, through the hows and whys of finding and using humor.

It explains types of humor, how to remember and tell a joke, how to prepare and present your humor.

I have implemented several of Roger's tips in my presentations and in the Therapeutic Humor class that I teach.

HOW TO BE FUNNIER (Happier, Healthier & More Successful Too)
HOW TO BE FUNNIER gets a five star rating. For speakers and entertainers this guide is a must read. For everyone else it's a fun read . . .with much to be gained. The material is mostly inside tricks and techniques used by professional comedians and humorists. It's presented in a very funny and very easy to understand and easy to use manner. It's something that anybody can put to use since everybody can benefit from a stronger sense of humor. The examples are great! You see exactly how it's done and whether you want to improve your ability to be funny, write funny, delivery funny, be quicker witted, recall jokes and stories or just have a stronger sense of humor in general it's all there and very easy to follow. It's even makes a good "self help" book for improving attitude or moods. It has the widest variety of humor and humor styles I've come across. My appreciation for humor has skyrocketed since reading this.

A Fun Book
I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't help but be a little critical but I wish Rosemary would put a little more sex in her scenes. If you've read "The Insiders" now that was sexy and erotic, it really turned you on at times, but then again there were some scenes that were uncalled for. "The Insiders" was the beginning of my book collection. I also loved "Crowd Pleasers." Anyway, "Love Play" was fun to read. There was a lot of spitting drama between the two main characters which I enjoy. I thought Rosemary could have done a better job with the ending....it was just too easy to figure out that the characters would have been happily in love with each other. I mean she just went into "boy, I think I love you" and it was over. I thought if the two characters were going to keep bickering, their should have been a lot more passionate sex between the two and not in the last quarter of the book. I was getting tired of waiting till something sexual would happen. I've read a lot of Rosemary's novels and think this book will be my last. I've been reading a lot of Kat Martin books lately and I now have a new collection of her books. She has a lot of steamy loving, clean of course, sexy scenes that really turn you on and make you feel good and a very well written stories. You should check her out. Sorry fan readers. I guess I'm just a little more disappointed with Rosemary's books. Anyway, I really think this book is still worth reading. I just felt I had to speak my peace.

What? No Sequel?
For such a twisted "love" triangle I throughly enjoyed Mrs. Rogers work, and I really didn't want this novel to end. It is a love story on a major detour, and is something I certainly wouldn't have thought of, but I am glad Mrs. Rogers did. As surprising as the plot was, I was even more surprised by the ending, and would really love to hear more about how all turned out in the end. I truly wish that more of the story was still left to read.

I didn't want it to end...
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Just thought it ended too abruptly, maybe because I didn't want it to end...
