Great for beginners!
This book gives anyone who is frightened to start - or rather overwhelmed by the magnitude of the job - methods to begin in small ways that are non-threatening. First 2 or 3 chapters alone are worth the cost of the book.

RITA Award Nominated Novel is a Winner!!
Family Next Door is a superb, emotionally involved novel. This SUPERROMANCE was recently nomitated out of hundreds of books by all different romance authors as a finalist for the long contemporary cateogory of the RITA Awards (think Academy Awards of romances). If you want to read a romance novel that is not only fabulous but will leave you feeling good, buy Family Next Door. Also, if you love this novel, check out others by the author Janice Johnson! All her novels in the SUPERROMANCE series are wonderful. The characters are engaging, the plots intriguing, and the novels even possess a sense of humor. Don't miss any of these novels

A Naturalist's Journey Takes You With Her
Janice Emily Bowers writes from the heart, taking an unflinching look at nature - and herself - reflected in the ecology of Arizona: desert, mountains, peaks and canyons. I felt that I was right along with her on these explorations, and I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy outer - and inner - exploration.

Great book but age level wrong.
As a children's librarian, who was a social worker for 20 years, I highly recommend this book, but not for the ages given by Amazon.com. It should read GRADE 4-8 (age 10-14). It is definitely NOT a book for age 4-8.
Each chapter starts with a story of a child encountering a difficult situation (kissing unpleasant relatives, being lured into posing for child pornography, exhibitionists, incest by a father, obscene phone calls, and attempted rape). In each story, the child is supported and helped to deal with the situation. Facts are then given to help young readers understand how to avoid dangers themselves. In spite of the scary nature of the topic, the book is straightforward and positive, about girls and boys finding ways to act with strength to stay safe.

A good buy.
This is an excellent book. Don't be intimidated by the science. It's good as a reference for the fibro patient. I have fibro myself and it helped me to understand the disease and how to help myself.

Great First Hidden Picture Book for Little Ones!
I got this book for my girls who just turned 2 and 3. They both love it, although the 3 year old is quickest at locating the hidden pictures. There are 32 pages of actual hidden pictures and they are in color which is great for the little ones. It keeps their interest more than the black and white pages. There are usually 6 or 7 things you are looking for on each page and sometimes multiples of each of those. We are on our 3rd go round with it now and it's actually become a "bedtime request".

Skip the Last Story and This Book's a Winner!!!!
This is a worthwhile anthology to buy. Janice Johnson's story about a woman who is afraid of turning into her mother is fabulous and quite funny. When her mother sets her up with a great guy, she rejects him . But she doesn't count on him trying to lose favor with her mother, just so he can be with the daughter. Then, Jan Freed's story about a woman, the man she's going to marry, and the family that is organizing the whole event is also a pleasure to read. If you thought your family was tough, just wait until you read about Lindsey's. A note of warning, however. Margot Early's story is terrible. A complete downer. Skip it, and enjoy the other two, which well make up for the last story. Several touching stories about mothers and daughters.

Modern Woman meets Romantic Hero from the Past
Gilbert Randall washed up on shore after a boating accident. Although he was strikingly handsome he wasn't exactly modern woman Erika Van Hamel type. He was one of those chauvinist men who pretend to have no idea how to work a microwave or a can opener.Insisting the year was 1812. Gilbert Randall,Viscount Bedford stared with dismay at the tiny painted toy soldiers of Erika's brother. He could vouch for the accuracy of the battles prior to 1812. But as for the battles after 1812... it was quite clear from those scenes that the outcome of the war depended on information Gilbert Carried- only he was no longer there to provide it.

Delightful, intelligent, and whimsical
The artwork in this book is nothing short of breathtaking. This is a book obviously meant for children and parents to enjoy together. It's humor is both intelligent and silly. The vocabulary may need some explaining for younger readers but will also challenge them. What does it mean to be free? What a conundrum!
