Dreaming All of Us
Books like "Dreaming Me" are gifts or treasures that we rarely have the good fortune to discover. Ms Willis' journey is at times painful yet ultimately joyful. She shares this pain and joy in a compelling writing style that is filled with anecdotes and drama. No matter what your life experiences may be you are quickly drawn into the universal themes that every human being shares. As a white male living in the Northeast during the sixties I was on the other side of the world from a person like Ms Willis. Yet she made her experiences part of me. And like two parts of a greater experience I felt whole after reading this book. I highly recommend it. Thank you Ms Willis for putting your experiences into such a beautifully written book.

Universal Dreaming
This book was read in one marathon session that flew by all too quickly. It spoke to the very core of my being. Having this story told in such a personal way deftly teaches the reader at every level. It's well written and one could easily be fooled that they are simply being entertained with a good read. There were many moments where I felt stunned with deep recognition of a life experience that mirrors a good portion of my own. I connected with this book deeply at the heart level. Most touching were the moments with her teacher, Lama Yeshe. His extraordinary heart helped her heal deep societal and personal pains which have traveled across generations influencing and shaping our culture in difficult ways. Thank goodness Dr. Willis chose to develop the good heart, rather than fight the good fight. One does not need to be in a culturally specific group or religion to recognize and feel Dr. Willis' experience. She reached into the depths of spirit and wrote in a way that touches universally. This lady has a heart that totally outsizes her brilliant, immeasurable intellect and her story will benefit countless numbers. I'm one unabashedly grateful reader.

Loved Your Book
Since I have met Jan Willis a few times through my own work at Naropa University, I emailed her after I finished reading Dreaming Me. Here's part of what I wrote to her: "I just wanted to let you know how engrossing I found your book. It was like talking to you, hanging out with you, to read it. I had put it at the bottom of my pile of "books I want to read" but somehow it jumped right up to the top, and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Please take that as a resounding compliment! Thanks so much for writing it, and for revealing so much of your big heart.

A Perfect Love Story
Author Janice Sims has written a beautiful sequel to 'A Second Chance At Love.' Dr. Solange DuPree and Rupert Giles continue to have a difficult time coming together. However, this time we are given some insight to what makes Rupert such a driven man. Solange's mother finally tells her daughter why she has never spoken of her homeland Port-au-Prince, Haiti. After spending time with Rupert in Ethiopia, Solange realizes how deeply she loves him. She feels she must leave Rupert before she disappoints him or he rejects her once he discovers her secret. She will leave him to spare pain to both of them. But she is kidnapped before she can do anything. As Rupert overhears that 'a woman and a little boy' has been snatched from the streets in broad daylight he knows that it's Solange they are speaking of. The police are on the case but Rupert has his own plans and will do anything to get Solange back safely. When he does rescue Solange he gets much more than he ever expected. Janice Sims has written another moving chapter in the lives of Solange DuPree and Rupert Giles. She writes of Ethiopia with knowledge, love and great skill. Vannie(~.~)

From RENDEZVOUS magazine
Dr. Solange DuPree, an archaeologist, is in Ethiopia assisting friends to reclaim their daughter from kidnappers. She becomes re-associated with the dazzling Rupert Giles, a British man with an iffy past. They agree to tour together for several weeks. During that time stranger-than-fiction events begin to happen. Exciting and informative! Excellent insight into Ethiopian history. SC

Loved it!!
Ms. Sims has done it again! This time the story is Solange's and Rupert's. The book is exciting and adventurous as we journey to Ethiopia.

Rupert is a woman's dream and he and Solange have teamed up. They reach a turning point in their relationship where they would do anything for each other and silently voice their feelings to one another by saying "I will do anything . . . "For Your Love".

The couple's love affair is romantic, thrilling, and exciting. The book will keep you turning the pages. I look forward to another chapter in the lives of Solange and Rupert. Maybe Rupert will get his wish and Solange will present him with a replica of Rupert in the form of little Rupert Jr. Who knows? Certainly there is room in the making for another story.

Read This!
John's work reminds me of a Zen saying-- that you can never step into the same river twice. (Because, as with everything, the river is constantly changing and becoming new all the time). So it is with John's poetry-- it will present new and differing meanings, patterns and images with each reading.

He writes as he feels-- not to some prescribed form or method but simply as he is. Longitudes is a delightful read that you'll wish to share over and over again. My favorite line is from the poem, "The One-Legged Hopping Man-- "In a world of the misbegotten, perfection is seen as error ..."

Do yourself a favor and read this collection.

Tasty Treats!
This book is like a tray full of interestingly shaped and tasty poetic hors d'oeuvres. The sense I get from these damn fine and fun poems, is that of the eternal college student, someone never quite finished with his master's thesis and quite comfortable, nay, ecstatic, with the fact. These are poems full of history, philosophy, art and gritty street hunger, lust and thirst.

Something's going on!
You're walking down the richly-appointed hallway of a luxurious Florntine palace, basking in stupefied wonder and awe of your surroundings. Suddenly, one if the lavish tapestries is yanked away and you're left looking at what's really there-- curious water marks on the wallpaper. That's what reading Birkbeck's poems is like; the yanking away of apparent reality, and the glimpse underneath of the virtual reality. This poet is a magician!

This Series Kicks Bootey
This trilgy of stories is the reason I love to read so much! I remeber back in 7th grade, I picked this book up on a whim, and I couldn't put the darn thing down until I read every single word! I highly recommed this one, as well as the other two in the series.

GREAT BOOK! Get this where ever you can!
Walking through my local bookstore one afternoon in December (lots of years ago) I found this book on a dusty old shelf.. and decided to buy it.. This normally isn't the kind of book I would grab but I was delightfully suprised.. I couldn't put this book down.. I read the whole book in 48 hours.. I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone wanting to read a suspenseful novel without blood and gore.. This book will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. I haven't read the 2nd or 3rd in this series but I am expecting them soon. . . . .

The Suspense Keeper

Good Introdution to the Angels that are Around Us
This is a good introduction to angels. It includes a description of the different levels of angels, their powers and abilities. But the best part is that the author provides steps that will help you to start accessing the power of angels in your own life. She also gives specific accounts of how angels have helped in other peoples lives. After reading this book you will realize that angels can help us in everything that we do; we just have to open our hearts and mind to them. They are there waiting for us to recognize their presence, and ask for their help.

A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!
This book is a real eye opener to the power of Angels. They touch every part of our lives and everyone should know how to access them, how to thank them and how to ask for their guidance. I could not put this book down until I was finished with it and I have marked many notes in it for my own personal use. This book has helped lift my spirits at a time when I thought nothing could.

Great angel book! I highly reccommend it.
Angel power is for me what a driver's manual is for my car. I didn't know how to access the amazing power of the nine choirs of angels before I read this book. I also was unaware of the pitfalls that angel power can eliminate from daily life. Too bad I didn't know about this sooner! Great read. Great information.

A highly recommended reader for the new mother
Baby Matters: What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Caring For Your Baby by natural childbirth educator Linda Folden Palmer provides a straightforward examination of many key issues new parents might be unfamiliar with, ranging from why cow's milk is not the best food for an infant, to preventing and treating food allergies, to the inside scoop on bonding. Dr. Palmer, is an instructor in pediatric nutrition (among other health fields), and writes in "reader friendly", down-to-earth terms especially accessible to non-specialist readers in general, and anxious mothers in particular. Baby Matters is an excellent and highly recommended reader for the new mother!

This is truly a valuable resource.
So your know-it-all cousin chides that your baby's being spoiled by all that attention. Last time you talked, she disapproved of prolonged breastfeeding. What'll it be next? Don't you wish you had some scientific evidence to back up your choices? Well, now you do. Dr. Linda Folden Palmer's book, Baby Matters, exhaustively lists the scientific evidence behind attachment parenting, breastfeeding, and the reality of food allergies. With chapters such as, "The Attachment Advantage," "Bonding: the Inside Story," " Crying & Caring," and "The Dangers of Cow's Milk," Dr. Palmer shows how the establishment of science-conquering-nature has caused unnecessary suffering and heartache to parents and babies alike. Leaving babies to "cry it out," forcing them to sleep alone, giving them formula instead of breastfeeding, ignoring possible food allergies, and indiscriminate vaccination have all resulted in alarming SIDS rates, aggressiveness, emotional detachment and physical illness. Not to be accused of selectively culling sources, Palmer evenhandedly discusses vaccines, for example, deflating the overblown cons and discussing the details of what the research really shows. This is truly a valuable resource for attachment parents, and perhaps if you gave it to your cousin at her baby shower, she might just learn a thing or two. What you (and your great grandma) knew in your heart was right all along'it simply took some time for our society to catch up. 'Reviewed by Regina Cassidy

Babies would tell you to buy this book!
Baby Matters is the latest word on responsive baby care, warmly written and backed up by a wealth of research references and academic articles.

This is the book I wish I'd had when my son was born. I would have had a an abundance of helpful information, I would have been reassured that it was OK - in fact, essential - to trust what my heart told me, and I would have had the perfect book to show skeptical friends and relatives.

Baby Matters would make an especially welcome and useful baby shower gift. It is an excellent choice for any new parent. If babies could talk, I'm sure they would agree!

Shuman and Twombly Make Process of Collaboration Clear!
Collaboration is a popular business buzzword but I haven't found many who can describe clearly how to make it work. This book is like a light in a dark room. It makes the process clear. It goes into a detailed history of how the evolution of technology has increased the power of the consumer to the point where it takes a collaboration of companies connected by the Internet to define, produce and deliver the right products at the right price. The book answered a lot of questions for me. I am looking forward to the sequel. I highly recommend this book! Buy it.

A Sense of Place...a Very Special Place
Many years ago, I read a book by Wilson S. McWilliams (The Idea of Fraternity in America) in which he provided a broad yet probing analysis of how and why Americans have formed and then sustained various kinds of groups. The groups' structure and purposes vary: military, commercial, religious, political, economic, social, athletic, etc. Most groups emerge as a result of what might be viewed as enlightened self-interest. Our nation's motto ("E pluribus unum") correctly suggests one of the basic principles of Colonial solidarity. McWilliams' concept of "fraternity" is quite similar to Shuman and Twombly's concept of "community" even as the two books written by these authors, obviously, also have a different structure as well as different purposes.

In the Preface, Shuman first acknowledges the "conventional wisdom" that if a given business is based on a good idea and that idea is effectively implemented, the business will succeed. Then he rejects it: "In reality, no matter how good a business idea is, no matter how well the idea is implemented, as soon as you open your doors for business [literally or virtually], you will find your business has to change -- not just minor adjustments and small shifts in marketing or product design but radical [italics] change." Shuman then asserts that what he calls "The Rhythm of Business™" (TROB) is the most reliable process by which to develop and grow successful businesses of every size and type, not just today but yesterday and tomorrow. (The Rhythm of Business is the title of Shuman's previous book.) Given this methodology and all of the new technologies, Shuman then shares a "second thought": the business pattern required for the 21st century "is what I call the Collaborative Community™."

In this book, Shuman and Twombly (with David Rottenberg) develop that "second thought" by incorporating -- integrating, actually -- technology with TROB inorder to enable their readers "to stay in touch with us and continue to develop their understanding of how to achieve and maintain success in our new networked world." What they envision, in essence, is a new "fraternity." The material in the book is organized within three Parts: The Revolution in Business, The New Reality, and The New Business Pattern, followed by a "References" section for those who wish to extend and enrich their understanding of various issues addressed in this book.

For whom will this book have the greatest value? Probably owners/CEOs of small-to-midsized companies; especially those who are perhaps struggling, now, with the always-difficult transition from entrepreneurship to professional management. Decision-makers in larger organizations will also derive substantial benefit from this book, especially if they are primarily responsible for business units or even departments within those organizations. Those who share my high regard of this book are urged to check out Fitz-enz's The E-Aligned Enterprise, Segil's FastAlliances, and O'Dell and Grayson's If Only We Knew What We Know.

An Entrepreneur's View
As an entrepreneur, my time is precious and I rarely read all the articles and books on my "to do" list. However, since I knew the authors professionally, I decided to pull this book to the top of the pile. I'm very glad I did.

I enjoy business books that you can read in a couple of hours but that still have plenty of substance. COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITIES fills that bill. It details how business models have changed along with the growth of technology and believes that for the foreseeable future COLLABORATIVE COMMUNITIES are the way to go. If you are interested in insights into strategic timing, information infrastructures and how to build a profitable collaborative community, this book is an excellent choice.

A Different Kind of Strength: Rediscovering the Power of Being a Woman

They were just like us!
Frightened, tired, not understanding. Facing impossible situations without a map, not knowing what to do. Struggling through their heartbreaks - and triumphs. In the midst of it all, finding a strength beyond themselves. Discovering on a personal basis the presence of an eternal God involved in their lives. . . and, when looking back and pondering all that had happened, seeing His footprints walking beside them each step of the way.

Beverly Lahaye and Janice Shaw write about five women from Bible times, putting flesh upon the skeleton of words, breathing life into the forms. Only women who have, themselves, walked through uncharted territory and discovered the faithfulness of God in their own lives could bring these Bible characters to life.

These two authors have done a wonderful job of doing just that!
This is a book I will keep to read again!

REAL Women!
A Different Kind of Strength delves into the lives of the five women listed in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus. Crouse and LaHaye have written an insightful and intriguing book about these women-their weakness and their strengths. The naming of these five women of all the women who contributed to the lineage of Christ has always intrigued me. Among them are liars, harlots, pagans, schemers and such. Sound familiar!? Right! They are as we and therein lies hope and help for us all.

This Book Can Change Your Life
"A Different Kind of Strength" is a different -- and wonderful --kind of book. In a novel and powerful way, it retells the stories of five biblical heroines, and shows how God worked through the strengths and weaknesses of each one. From these unforgettable women, we learn the power -- not of perfection -- but of faith, hope, obedience, courage and wisdom. This book can provide guidance to all of us struggling to live well, and do right, in a fallen world.

Profitable e-commerce regardless of the product or service
Logistics And Fulfillment For e-Business: A Practical Guide To Mastering Back Office Functions For Online Commerce is a straightforward instructional manual to the basic logistics of designing, managing, and running an efficient model for profitable e-commerce regardless of the product or service being offered. From outsourcing technology; to dealing profitably with shipping costs (including the pros and cons of USPS versus other package shippers); to handling customer relations in e-Business; and much, much more, Logistics And Fulfillment For e-Business is a handy, user friendly, "how-to" reference with invaluable, practical advice for any merchant or entrepreneur setting up an e-storefront to supplement (or replace) a traditional brick-and-mortar based commercial operation.

The Author Understands the World of Multi-Channel
I bought another one of the author's book a few days ago and felt she had hit that technology right on the head so I decided to try her logistics and fulfillment book. I wasn't disappointed. I had basically given up trying to find a good book on logistics and fulfillment -- no one seemed to really understand the complexities of the multi-channel world.

This book not only deals with Internet based companies, it gives the reader the information necessary to integrate an online business with traditional channels. It provides complete knowledge of how goods flow from the initial source all the way to the customer's premise. The author explains how to reach the ultimate goal of a state-of-the-art logistics and fulfillment operation. The book details how to determine in real time the sales data, warehouse inventory, production plans, and shipment schedules as an order traverses the value chain. There is even a detailed explanation of the tools need to crunch the necessary numbers into some form of reliable forecasting.

The author really understands that the success in the world of multi-channel requires a well-defined business model and the tight integration between legacy and online applications and systems, specifically in the areas of product category, customer, order, distribution, fulfillment, data, and operational management. While the book does point out that logistics and fulfillment is no easy task, it also explains that optimal logistics and fulfillment is achievable and the end result will make all the effort and money spent worthwhile.

#1 Book on E-Commerce!
This book is the key to successfully planning (and implementing) an e-commerce strategy. While the subject can be on the boring side, Reynolds' writing style kept me interested and wanting more. Unlike most books in this space, and I have read nearly all of them, I was very taken with the expert way in which the concepts are logically presented and how the examples turned on so many lights for me. Reynolds is an obvious expert in this field and I wished she worked on some of the e-commerce start-ups I did - my portfolio would be fatter!!! Seriously, if you need to learn this material, THIS is the book. Now I wonder if she would write something on home-improvement???

A One Time Read
This was the first novel that I read by Janice Sims. Overall it was enjoyable, however, I felt the love story between Georgie and Clay was lacking. There were so many things going on and so many characters being introduced that it was a bit confusing at times. I felt that Georgie and Clay's relationship was being overshadowed by the reunion of Georgie's mom and dad. I became much more interested in her parents relationship than I did with her own. I also feel that Sims did not spend enough time focusing on Georgie and Clay's romance.

Although I have yet to read "A Second Chance For Love," which is a continuation of this novel, I think I will like it better than this one. If you ask me, she could have combined both stories into one book, focusing on Toni and Charles's (Georgie's parents) romance.

A Great Book!
"All the Right Reasons" is another great book Janice Sims has written. Clay Knight and Georgie Shaw make a lovely couple. Clay, a private investigator, is hired by Charles Waters, to find what Mr. Waters thinks is his child. However, a surprise awaits Mr. Waters when not one, but two adult children surface.

The plot thickens not only with the discovery of the twins, but also when Clay realizes that someone is out to murder Georgie. However, that someone is set to not only destroy Georgie, but must destroy Georgie's twin sister, Bree in order to get what the murderer wants.

Toni Shaw, Georgie and Bree's mother, and Charles Waters (Chuck) lover years ago is forced to protect her children in any way possible. Toni must confront Chuck after years of separation, but will the confrontation also bring to surface Toni's undying feelings of love? A love that was never buried even though Toni thought Chuck had neglected her in a time of need years ago. Toni must now confront all of her feelings for all the right reasons -- those for her children as well as to put a close to a past that held deep love and a future that still has love in it for Chuck. Those feelings of love are not only from Toni, but Chuck must also realize his feelings and what he gave up years ago.

"All the Right Reasons" has suspense and romance. Also, there is a story in itself with Toni Shaw and Charles Waters. "All The Right Reasons" is a great book!

Janice Sims Has Another Hit!
Janice Sims has a way with words as she writes this romance, adventure, murder mystery novel. She seems to be able to craft a story of romance with the twists of excitement of adding mystery. This is what we get, Toni Shaw, mother of twin daughters, Charles Waters, Toni's ex-lover and father of the twins, and Clayton Knight the private investigator. So with these major characters we get lots of humor, serious unresolved issues, major love sparks and some dangerous murder attempts. All this wraps up to be one good book that is worth every bit of time you give to read it all. I just have one problem with this book, it leaves us with so many unresolved answers to what happens to the major characters. But then again, I guess we just have to patiently wait for Janice Sims to give us a sequel to find out! If you like Janice Sims, check out some of these other published books of hers I truly enjoyed: A Bittersweet Love, For Keeps, Out of the Blue, Love Letters and Affair of the Heart.
