Absolutely Wonderful!
Beautiful and inspiring story. Fantastic illustrations. Postive messages for children (and adults) about being all they can be and celebrating differences in other cultures. My kids want to hear the "Buzzz Hummm" book every night. They love it and so do I. We also bought Bizzy and Buzzy, the charming and comforting plush toy version of the book's Butterbees and the kids fall asleep with them in their arms. Altogether a marvelous learning and entertaining experience for us all.

Imaginative, sensitive and entertaining for the little ones
This book tells the story of how the Butterbees, offspring of the union of a bee and a butterfly, came to be. The charming tale weaves together important messages about understanding, forgiveness, and love and could stand on its own without illustration. But the illustrations are wonderful, full of life and color. I gave this book to one of my best friends as part of a baby shower gift. She also has two boys, age 2 and 5, to whom she read the book. She called to tell me the boys loved it.

Meeting of minds
Interviewing is a special skill, but effectively interviewing those cultural figures who are working out new ways of thinking is a rare one. With her many interviews of figures like Matthew Barney and Jeff Koons, Thyrza N. Goodeve has become known to art audiences as a remarkable interviewer and writer who is able to work with her subjects to articulate in new and accessible ways the complex ideas that motivate their work. In this book she turns her attention to her mentor, Donna Haraway, whose brilliant and innovative writing yet remains obscure and often misunderstood. The result is a remarkable portrait of a mind and a helpful guide to some of the most compelling thinking of our time.

Review: How Like a Leaf
I really like this book. It's inspiring to read an interview that weaves personal, biographical, scholarly and political testimony into such an attractive afghan; this is a book that manages to be more than interesting, though. It is also useful, and rare, in that it reaffirms the marriage of a human being to her work. Academics who wonder if they lead reprehensibly pointless lives might be helped to remember their own humanity, responsibility, courage, and life by a perusal of this volume. Goodeve's intelligent conversation illuminates what Haraway's chosen art form, the essay, often unintentionally obscures. This book is nutritional; I know more than a few people who should read it.

One of the most best, most underrated golf instructional boo
An absolutely terrific book for beginners. Johnson's philosophy of learning the setup and swing AWAY from the golf course is, in my opinion, the best way to improve your game. Buy it, buy a couple mirrors, a broom, and you'll see dramatic improvement.

This is the best golf instruction book I have ever read.
I have read MANY golf instructional books and viewed many instructional videos. This book is my favorite golf instructional book by far. It is well-organized, easy to read, and has excellent suggestions for improving your game, the swing, the shot and the score. I highly recommend this book for beginners and advanced players alike.

Great Book That Will Bring Back Allot of Memories
This is a great book for your collection. It will bring back memories of your childhood and the past. The author did a great job of collecting memories for all of us to enjoy.

Amazing collection of photos from Abingdon!
This book has many interesting pictures of Abingdon's places, people and buildings. I particularily liked the photos of the MArtha Washington, Barter Theatre and old downtown. It made learning about Abingdon's history very interesting...not like reading a history book at all.

Great for a first visit!
The area of Williamsburg is large that if you are planning a weekend trip or a week's vacation, it's imperative to get a "lay of the land" before you go! This book allows you to do that!

This book helps you decide where to spend your time in this wonderful city: Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, Golf and Golf galore, not to mention the tons of shopping and restaurant choices to make!

A lot of people get fooled thinking that there isn't much to do in and around this town.....this book showcases all the different activities (and when the busy times are at each) as well as giving you a glimpse of what to do and not to do with the kiddos.

I highly recommend visiting this area .....and buying this book before you go!

walking the labyrinth
Fortunately, understanding the nuances of the labyrinth is easier than figuring out what the aforelisted reviewer said in his review!

"Labyrinths from the Outside In" is a primer for the labyrinth as a useful metaphor and mystical tool through which one establishes a stronger connection to self and the larger world around them. It provides a basic methodology and useful tidbits of information which prove facilitating on the journey.

Easy to read and understand while very practical, this book makes for an interesting spiritual journey.

Well done.

A change is long overdue.
This is a book about human beings, and what behaviouir they will justify - and will try to get away with - if they are allowed.

There are so many striking aspects to this book. It's hard to believe that women can suffer so much abuse, and men can continue to dish it out, and men don't have to face the consequences, and women's suffering isn't acknowledged. This is graphic stuff, and it sure isn't sex and violence for entertainment.

Another striking element is how utterly reasonable the authors' presence is, as they painstakingly take us through these criminal offences. And they write as one; you can never tell one author's style from the other's. It is real synergy.

The book reinforces a powerful message. We have to treat each other with respect and integrity; and when we don't, we should be held responsible for our actions.

a law of her own
Written in a straightforward, non legalistic style, this book is a very thorough and thoughtful analysis of why the "Reasonable Woman" standard should be applied to both male and female defendants and victims, in situations involving sex, sexism, and aggression.

Each chapter starts with a study of an actual court case, which the authors then analyze from the point of view of both the Reasonable Man standard which is used in most courts, and the Reasonable Woman standard that they advocate.

They offer compelling arguments to support their contention that the Reasonable Woman standard not only results in truer justice, but at the same time elevates society's standards of conduct.

For centuries, it has been said that "women civilize" a culture. This book convinces the reader that the time is ripe for the "Reasonable Woman" to civilize our justice sustem.

Bouncing with delight
I've developed the habit of giving children's books at baby showers. I try to give a mix of rhyme, fairy tales and story books. I especially like to find books both parents and children will long treasure. The first time I found this book, I adored it so much it was hard to part with it. The illustrations are almost breath-takingly beautiful. I've given it away twice now but feared I might never be so fortunate as to stumble across this gem again. You cannot imagine my joy to find it here!

I love that cover bears the same illustration as the dust jacket. On the down side, I wish there were a better mix of boys and girls in the artwork. There are some little boys but many more little girls. And there are no boys on the cover.

The illustrations are wonderful. Great poems.
I collect children's books. This is one of my most prized. Donna Green does an excellent job with the illistrations. And the poems for children are sure to last a lifetime. This is definately a book that will be passed down for ages. I also own the Velveteen Rabbit, illustrated by Donna Green. Not often can an illustrator do justice to such a treasured stroy, but, her work is magnificent. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talents for the rest of the wold to enjoy.

WOW
It's a great book. I gave it out to the kids in my religion class at the end of last year. Little Acts of Grace is written so young children can easily understand it and acts as a great reminder for older Catholics! It makes a great gift and it's a good book to have in your home collection too!

Wonderful little book!
Although written for young children in order to gently introduce them to some of the little things we Catholics do (sign of the cross, genuflecting, using holy water, praying to Mary or the saints, etc.), this sweet book is a gem for anyone Catholic or anyone who ever wanted to know about such things. The whimsical illustrations are charming and especially appealing to very young children. The book is a perfect First Communion/Confirmation or birthday gift for a child or a gift for an adult who is becoming Catholic or thinking about doing so. I've already bought five copies!
