Thorough course in literature for children
I just got finished using this book for a course in Children's Literature, and it was extremely informative.

Since I am interested in children's literature (to read, and possibly to write), it was great to find out about all the different facets of literature for children, from historical children's lit, to multicultural lit, to award-winning literature.

If you are a teacher and haven't taken a course on children's literature, this book is a must-read (it even includes helps for the classroom at the end of each chapter). If you want to write for children, check this out -- it's a veritable goldmine of information to get your book noticed & published.

Great resource for children's literature
This book covers a wide range of genres of children's literature. It is written in an easy to read style, and covers everything a teacher or media specialist would need to begin working with children's literature. It was outstanding! The addition of the CD-ROM gives even more resources. I think it is a wonderful book.

The very best teacher's reference for children's literature.
Norton has once again done the impossible-- making her best-selling text on children's literature even better. The newest edition provides concise yet helpful summaries of the finest in children's books, and offers an updated CD-ROM tool to help teachers search and discover just right books. I heartily recommend it to all elementary teachers!

Short and Sweet on Strategy
If your golf mechanics are ready to use on the golf course, then it's time to think about how to lower your score. Tom Watson is one of the best strategists in the game of professional golf. Read this book to discover how he picks clubs and where to hit them in various circumstances, how he hits repeatably shaped shots (straight, high and low fades, high and low draws, skyballs and worm-burning knockdowns), and how to get the advantage in matchplay. The goal is to lower the golf score, not to hit the world's most pure drive. And this is a good thing.

Highly recommended.

Hands On Golf Book to Play Better
Step by step, this book is like a playing lesson. From the green backwards, Watson helps us realize what course maintenance is all about. This book will really help us begin to think a round out, rather than just look at the yardage, the obstacles and let it rip. Smart golf book. Higly recommended.

excellent golf strategy bible
even a beginning golfer can reap benefits from this important publication. mr. watson is in touch with how to transfer knowledge to another golfer. this volume is so important to have if you are at all serious about the game. this book serves a wide variety of players from hackers wondering where they might get back strokes to single digit players seeking a new perspective. this is one must book for a golfers library.

The Library Card
The Library Card is four short stories about kids who never thought they would ever be interested in reading until a "magical and mysterious" library card comes and takes these kids to the library and turns these lazy punks into inquiring minds. This is one of the best books I've ever read. I would recommend this book to anybody!

Moving Day for Tooter!
Have you ever wanted to run away from home? Well, Tooter does - she hates the smell on the farm and will do anything to get away! Tooter won't talk to anybody because she doesn't want to live on Aunt Sally's farm. Aunt Sally likes the silent treatment, but it drives dad crrrraaaaazzzzy! Tooter thinks she's going to croak because there isn't any McDonald's.

The book is great because its funny and interesting.
I liked this book because it contained funny stories. For example, Tooter handcuffs herself to the sink in protest over a move to a farm. She also walks around the farm with perfume to block out nasty smells. The end is heartwarming. I would recommend this book to people who like funny stories.

Don't Remodel Without It
While recently completing a remodel of an adobe house in Tucson, Arizona, I searched for just such a book. Now in the final stages, I stumbled across it. This would have made my life a whole lot easier had I found it months ago. It defines this style, and gives hundreds of examples that can be emulated. It is beautifully done, and having purchased it several hours ago, I can attest that I have not been able to put it down. I have it marked with sticky notes now, 11 in all, of ideas that will really enhance the remaining aspects of our remodeling project. I can't wait for my husband to get home, so that I can show him this book.

My brand new FAVORITE THING I OWN!!![.]
This book just arrived yesterday, and before I even got 2 chapters into it, I KNEW it was my NEW FAVORITE THING that I own!! Up until now, "Mexicolor" and "Mexican Tiles" by Masako Takahashi have been my 2 favorite, pour-over-for-hours, someday-dream-about books (no offense, Masako!!). Even still, for exploring different categories and wonderful photos of artesanias I ADORE "Mexicolor"; and for the history and definition of Talavera tiles, as well as photos SPECIFICALLY of tiled interiors, "Mexican Tiles" can't be beat. But THIS book....!!![.] What can I say??!! All around, as far as Mexican interior design goes....Donna McMenamin ROCKS!!![.]

More sedately, now: I REALLY appreciated the opening interview with Mexican-architect-turned-Arizona-resident Rafael Rios-Ghinis where he lays out and defines very succinctly what a "Mexican Style Home" IS. I have know for ages WHAT I love when I see it, but had never been able to DEFINE it, even to myself. Reading Mr. Rios-Ghinis' words was like a crystalization of all my unfocused and unconscious favored design elements..."Oh, yes, I like THAT!!", "No, no, that's not quite it". Amazing! I suddenly have a STYLE!!![.] And all this time, I thought I was just......"colorful"!!![.]

So...for all those of you who don't get QUITE so excited over interior design....I don't know what to tell you. And for those of you who find what you need/want/like in all of the traditional "House Beautiful", "Home and Garden", run-of-the-mill decoration books you can find all over and anywhere....I don't know what to tell you either. But for you kindred souls, whose hearts about stop beating for joy if you make an awesome flea market find of a "retablo", "jarra de talavera", "máscara de Michoacan", or "batea de madera" (and YOU know who you are!!![.])...those of you who NEVER, EVER, EVER find YOUR design taste reflected in ANY of those other design books....any of you who may have heard the comment more than once, "Gee, your house sure is....COLORFUL...", all I can say is: "Go Donna, go Donna...!!![.]"

If, someday, I am fortunate enough to realize my fondest little private dream, I will live in a house designed by el maestro Rafael Rios-Ghinis and decorated with the help of this FABULOUS designer, Donna McMenamin. Siempre se puede soñar ¿verdad?

The Best Book on Mexican Interiors Yet!
This is the most comprehensive and beautifully written and photographed book on Mexican Interiors to date. Living in San Miguel de Allende personally, I have seen many, many books on our incredible homes here in Central Mexico, but none have even come close to scratching the surface as has the work produced by Donna McMenamin and Richard Loper. They discovered homes previously never shown in books or magazines, and have produced glorious dialogue and outstanding photography in this stunning tour de force. It should be an absolute must to all lovers of Mexican architecture and interior design. I cannot praise this book enough, and have never seen anything as brilliantly gorgeous as this outstandingly superb work of art.

Great Illustrations and Music
My 3-year-old has mastered putting cds in her computer drive solely to listen to this cd over and over again. She follows along in the book with each song and sings out loud. Illustrations are beautifully done and we have enjoyed drawing, painting and coloring our own versions of these Unpopular Animals. Many thanks to Nana for this gift to her granddaughter!

Unpopular Animals Review
What a gem! The characters come to life in a thrilling and enchanting way. The most alluring piece of the children's text is the artists portrayal of the animals. This book is sure to become a classic and loved by all children for many years to come!!!

Great for grandma/child interaction
This is a wonderful collection of versus for interaction between adult and child. This is a great way to engage children in reading rhymes.

Important Alternative View
Anyone interested in exploring spirituality must read this book. It provides a thorough and well documented alternative view to the beliefs of people like Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung, James Hillman and more recently, Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy. Reading this book will raise your consciousness and help you complete your own life puzzle.

FABULOUS!
This book has impacted my view of and relationship with the Goddess on many levels. Each manifestation: Virgin, Mother and Crone, is examined in a scrumptiously poetic style that speaks to the womansoul. Thorough explorations of each image are complemented by poem/scripts honoring each face of the Goddess. Time is spent comparing the ways of the Goddess to those of the patriarchal God.

Of particular interest are discussions on the topics of the suitability of worshipping a Goddess and no God, and the refutation of the Goddess as Warrior archetype and the notion of the Divine as sexless.

This book has crystalized my relationship with and understanding of the Goddess. I would encourage any interested party to read it.

Inspiring..a real study of the Goddess
A wonderful study, backed up by history and archaeology, of Goddess worship through the ages. There are no wishy-washy theories here - rather, everything is backed up by reference after reference. A delightful read, a must for any serious student of the Goddess.

7th Edition worth its weight in gold
Whaley and Wongs updated bible for paediatric nurses is essential reading now it has gone in to its seventh edition, Those who had the 1995 version will already be familiar with the fully comprehensive care plans and evidence based practice rigorously detailed within the book, but 2002's new edition not only updates knowledge but also improves clarity using excellent illustrations, and also includes an entire new chapter regarding community care- an issue at the forefront of modern nursing. This is a core text for all students and qualified nurses alike.

antsy nursing student
I have a hard time reading some books that are required in nursing school. However this book is exceptional! I loved this reader friendly textbook. It is very easy to understand. I wish more of my books were like this one. Thank you Donna Wong.

The definitive pediatric nursing textbook
The 6th edition of this textbook is the best ever. Wong as usual provides the latest research with every topic covered. The color-coded chapters make it easy to use. The CD-ROM is very useful as a study aid and to view clips of nursing procedures. Highly recommended for nursing students and practicing pediatric nurses.

Why Can't We Just Get Along ???
Donna Franklin's new book, What's Love Got To Do With It, is a passionate, unequivocal indictment of racism and white supremecy in American society. Impeccable scholarship becomes a tool for her laser-like examination of what has gone wrong with black male/female relationships, and no stone is left unturned. No-one is let off the hook. Not white males. Not white females. Not black males or black females.

A crime has been committed. Who is guilty of this crime? Who must pay? Who must be held accountable? For the destruction of black male/female relationships? The destruction of the black family? The destruction and denigration of African culture and consciousness? The insanity of homocide, suicide and fratricide in the black community? Slavery is Donna Franklin's answer. Miss Anne and Uncle Charlie out back, in the cabin, in the bushes, in yo bed room, in de school room, in yo mind.

Insanity passing for sanity. Black man walkin' down the street mumblin' to himself, holdin' himself like he gotta piss. Black woman standing on the street corner with a blond wig on her head charging two dollars. Apein' mr charlie. Apein' miss anne! Playing in the dark, writin' blues for mister charlie, wearing black skin and a white mask, with no name in the street!! Because - Nobody knows my name!!! Not even me! What's yo name Boy??

Franz Fanon said it best: "The Negro is a slave who has been allowed to assume the attitude of [the] master. The white man is a master who has allowed his slaves to eat at his table." "Relationships between black men and women in America are in crisis," says Donna Franklin. "The current divorce rate for blacks is four times the 1960 level and double that of the general population." "Interracial marriages have risen from a reported 51,000 in l960 to 311,000 in l997." "The rates of violence between black men and women are higher than those of other races." ". . .Seventy-two percent of the African American husbands reported using a confrontational style of dealing with marital conflict. . ." "Forty-four percent of married black men admit to having been unfaithful to their wives, almost double the percentage for whites." Sixty percent of young black males between the ages of 18 and 24 are caught up in the criminal justice system.

In the end Donna calls for healing. But healing in this instance must be spiritual as well as social. The cancer has spead too far. The community is too sick for surgery or psychotherapy. To heal the rift between black men and women will take time. But time alone won't do the job, as Donna implies. We must understand the history and place today's black male/female relationships within the context of that history. This book goes a long way toward helping us to understand -- to understand that history and context. Holding up a mirror to American society, Donna Franklin reveals strange fruit hanging from the poplar tree. No matter how painful, America, you must have the courage to read this book!!!!

What's Love got to do with it?
This book provides a much needed historical analysis of the emergence of the current tensions found between black men and women. I have always been interested in africian-american history and this book is one of the best history books I've ever read. It is supebly written and carefully documented. The author even provides hope by asking the reader a series of questions that can help him/her determine (if answered honestly) whether they are part of the problem or part of the solution. This book is both informative and thought provoking and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the black family or gender relations in the african-american community.

Let's Talk!!
Donna Franklin provides an excellent basis upon which African American men and women can talk about the history that currently effects our relationships. This fabulous book is one to share with your partner. I shared this book with my mother. She, as I, was able to relate to the entire book. It allowed us to share different experiences and talk about our experiences from a generational perspective. Kudos to Donna Franklin for having the courage and vision to write this needed book!

Heart racing, spellbinding, love story
I have always enjoyed a good mystery and a breathtaking romance. Whispers on the Wind is both. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, awake until dawn just to find out what happens. If ever there was a man to fantasize about, it is definitely Max. It made my toes curl just picturing in my mind everything he speaks of. Definitely a keeper!

Sweet, sexy, riveting read; keeps you hooked until the end.
This is a fantastic read, one which kept me turning pages long after bedtime. Ms. Fletcher's ability to tell a story, a love story, is fantastic. It is sweet and sexy, and so is the hero. As a fellow romance writer, I admired Ms. Fletcher's characterizations-the characters leaped from the pages. Even minor characters were well-rounded. The dual love-story/ghostly attraction was funny, sexy, sad, and frustrating; all the emotions the characters felt. I clapped my hands when the heroine finally figures out part of the great mystery-I won't ruin it for you! You must read this book

Maxmillian Radborne "My Hero"
Without a doubt this book would make a wonderful movie. John D'Salvo would make the perfect Maxmillian.
