A Book That Finally Got My Grandson's Attention
I purchased this book 2 years ago from a street vendor and I thought it would be a good book because my grandson is African American, and I thought it would be something he could relate to. He was 3 at the time. I didn't realize how much he would come to love this book. It has beautiful pictures, the faces are so gentle and it seems so real that it's hard to believe it's a story. He's going on 5 and this book has been through all his rough and tumbling yet at bed time it's still his favorite book to go to sleep to. I would recommend this book for anyone.

This book saved my sanity
I had a Hysterectomy when I was 24 years old. Life for my entire family became a living nightmare. No one told me what to expect. I was suffering from post-hysterectomy syndrome for seven years and didn't know it. When my therapist handed me this book I was immediately intrigued. I too had considered myself "castrated". After reading the first five pages, my life was forever changed. It was as if everything suddenly made sense. I don't know if Mrs. Stokes is still with us, but I would like to tell her Thank You. You are an amazing genius. Thank You Thank You Thank You. Any woman who is having second thoughts, or Uterine/Ovarian problems, with the scare of Hysterectomy hanging over their head MUST read this book. You will be able to make an informed decision.

A Great Guide! Concise and Authoritative.
After going through a few Kundalini episodes and trying to find a good guide book on 'handling' or understanding this experience, this book is one of the best I've found. Next to 'Kundalini - A gentle Guide to Awakening'. The author makes explicit the connection of Kundalini and Chakras and the endocrine system, and describes some medical research done in Japan. Soon, this phenomenon has to move out of the fringes of mental pathology and into some kind of coherent cultural integration. But, not likely, I guess. Meanwhile, for those of us wondering what the heck is going on with us, books like this are invaluable. May God bless you with Light&Love, and make your own awakening a gentle one.

An Ideal First Book on Chakras
Chakras are energy centers associated with well-being and consciousness. It is a very, very complex topic and if you are interested, you need to start from a beginners' book. This booklet is like a "kindergarten" level book about chakras. Try reading this. If you can't even manage this booklet, forget about chakras---it is not for everyone.

Behind the cameras !
In the past, History used to be very boring: You had to study only the 'great facts' of the 'great kings or presidents' and besides that, to memorize a lot of dates, names and places. And the only valuable documents to study were the called 'official documents'. Fortunately, it changed. Today History and historians discovered another way to do that: We don't have to stay looking only for the 'official documents' anymore ! Today historians could research in different ways; They learned that not only those documents are the important ones but that other things or writings could be exellent objects of study and we won't be obligate to listen only the 'history of kings' anymore ! Among these new objects of study is the cinema with her movies and Marc Ferro is a pionner on studing the cinema as an object or 'document' for the historian's work. There in the book you will learn that the cinema is much more than the explicit things you see on the screen; it's politic, social and mental life and more important, it's History and it also made history ! As a History student (almost an historian), I truly recommend this book for the History or Cinema lovers. You won't see a movie the way you use to see it anymore !

An illuminating reference on the milieu of color
Colors in Context is a beautiful and informative resource on colors that is a must have, whether you're an architect, graphic and web designer, fashion designer, administrator, teacher, librarian, artist, or virtually anyone who communicates with color and content. Published by Graphic-sha and the Color Intelligence Institute, the book offers 56 themes and 658 colors. It's is an authorial resource, listing colors by general categories: countries, history, ideology, religion, mythology, literature, art, music, celestial bodies, nature, and flora and fauna, to name a few. For each color sample, the author provides a color's basic name, genealogy, and common, indegenious name, as well as its CMYK percentages, Munsell Value, an informative explanation and background of the color, and a cluster of words describing that color swatch. I've used many color guides in the past, but this is by far, the most functional, well-designed color reference to date. Enjoy and learn.

Simple things made astonishing...
I am a huge fan of Ms. Nye's work. I write poetry for children myself, so I am always looking for new work for kids that is unique (there seems to be an inundation, currently, in the children's market, of mediocre poetry) - I knew I couldn't go wrong with "Come With Me". This is what poetry is all about - taking the simple, the everyday, and turning it into something astounding! In this book, Ms. Nye makes even the smallest of journeys (a word as it travels from mouth to ear)wondrous. How different these trips will now seem to us.
Each poem will leave a "Wow..." in your throat, and a great desire to explore your world, to discover the all the words to describe it. (And Mr. Yaccarino's ilustrations are bold, vivid - a perfect compliment.)

CORRECTION: Andre Kostelanetz' stereo recordings were superb
Professor Musiker is badly and sadly mistaken when he disparages Andre Kostelanetz' outstanding stereo recordings of popular music during the 1960s and '70s. (See final paragraph of entry on Maestro Kostelanetz) These superb sides sparkle even more brilliantly today when heard via the magic of CD and Dolby digital Pro-Logic, dts, Surround-Sound.) Furthermore, to state that Kosty's stereo recordings are "unrecognizable" is total nonsense. Anyone familiar with the Beautiful Music boom of the '60s and '70s can verify that the Kostelanetz sound was identifiable, recognizable and unmistakable. The popular music recordings of Andre Kostelanetz, Percy Faith, Mantovani and Henry Mancini (in that order) formed the earthquake-proof foundation upon which was built the Beautiful Music stereo FM radio format that was the most popular radio format in the U.S. during the 1970s. Also, Prof. Musiker is incorrect when he states that Andre (the GIANT of Beautiful Music) Kostelanetz succumbed to a "commercialized syndrome" when he recorded these magnificent albums of popular music. If the Professor is suggesting that Kosty really didn't like the music that bore his name, he has not done his homework. He should contact legendary producer Teo Macero in New York, as I have done, and learn the facts, which I will relate in great detail on my future website now under construction. (Teo Macero produced most of The Maestro's extraordinary Columbia recordings after the dawn of stereophonic sound in 1958) Yes, the final paragraph of this book's entry on Andre Kostelanetz does a tremendous disservice to The Maestro's mighty contributions to quality pop music during the last two decades of Kosty's spectacular life. I call for nothing less than a full retraction and correction of the said final paragraph in the Musikers' otherwise excellent and extremely useful sourcebook. Finally, though Prof. Musiker does not explicitly state this, there are allegations in other circles that Maestro Kostelanetz had little or nothing to do with the arrangements of these recordings. That he merely "waved his arms." Your humble reviewer intends to address this issue in depth when my website is "up and running." This should be by the end of the year -- just in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of a great American conductor and patriot, The Magnificent Maestro Andre Kostelanetz. In the meantime, I encourage all readers of this review to enjoy Kosty's Wonderland Of Sound recordings.

Psychology that makes sense
At last there is freedom from the confusion of Transactional Analysis, Gestault and other Psychotropic drug therapies. The book is very refreshing. You must read this book to know how it works in practice. Glasser's approach enables a therapist to keep their cool so to speak, Yes, common sense is back!

Holly and her children knew that Col was innocent and they decided to do whatever was necessary to help him. Holly was not only doing this for Col, but for herself as well. Holly's husband was a newspaper reporter and was working on Col's story when he was killed in a hit and run accident. Holly, however, does not believe that her husband's death was an accident. She believes that the person that killed Col's brother also killed her husband.
While trying to find the truth Holly and Col fall in love with each other, but they know that their future is very uncertain. I loved not only the love story between Col and Holly, but the relationship between Col and Holly's two kids. There was also a very real element of danger throughout the book. There was also a dose of comedy. I found it extremely funny that Holly, a widow with two children, was so embarrassed about buying condoms. Naomi Horton is an excellent author. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.
