Great book for a toddler
My two-year-old son LOVES this book. He loves to yell, "MOUSE! MOUSE!" every time he sees the little mouse, and he loves to hunt for the mouse in all of the pages of the book. The book is mysterious but not creepy, and the suspense is lifted at the end of the book when the CAT suddenly is the one being stalked! I would definitely recommend this book as my son points to it asking to be read to...."mouse? mouse?" Certainly worth the money. Buy this book! You'll love the illustrations too!

Mouse, Look Out!
My 3 1/2 year old loves this book! We have taken it out of the library so many times that he has it nearly memorized! His favorite thing to do with this book is to say "Mouse Look Out! There's a cat about!" every time it is said in the book. While he never tires of having the book read to him, I never tire of reading it. Very highly recommended.

Mouse, Look Out!
A mysteriously abandoned mansion serves as a terrifically spooky setting for a cat-and-mouse tale. As the mouse slips through the "gate no one opened" and the "door no one knocked on," we fairly shout on every fourth page, "MOUSE, LOOK OUT! THERE'S A CAT ABOUT"--until the end, that is, when we shout for the cat to look out for someone else with orange eyes. The suspense of the simple plot is marvelously enriched by the rhythmic, rhyming verse, darkly realistic paintings, and the strange mystery--never explained--of why the long-ago owners of this ghostly mansion abandoned it with all their possessions still inside. This gives the book an unspoken subplot for imaginative ruminations on the side. The artist's sense of perspective brilliantly accentuates the vulnerability of the mouse and the menace of the cat, and end papers showing an ominous front view of the house in the beginning and a satisfying conclusion in the back garden at the end are unifying elements. An edge-of-your-seat tale just right for story time, slumber parties, and Halloween.

Baja through the eyes of love
This lady brought me to love a land and people in a manner I never dreamed possible. A must read for the romantic as well as the pedantic.

... the beginning of a literature of Baja...
... this writing is like the geography [of Baja], desert surrounded by water. Rich, yet sparse; full, yet hungry. Like Mexico, full of soul. This book is much more than a regional tale: it is the beginning of a literature of Baja ...

I can't wait to pass it on to some friends...
I bought this book and it was so enjoyable that I read it in one sitting! I read constantly, but I can only think of three or four times in my life where I've read a book straight through. It's a wonderful story and I can't wait to pass it on to some friends...

Amazing Journey
From the title to the last pages, this book was comforting and a must read for anyone dealing with the loss of a child. It is well-written, funny, and pulls at your heart strings. Thanks Judy and Kyle for sharing your story!

A "Must Read" For Anyone Who Has Lost a Child
I would like to recommend this book, "Quit Kissing My Ashes" by Judy Collier. It is a "Must Read" for anyone who has lost a child. I lost my child in August of 2001. Reading this book convinced me that I was not going "crazy" receiving my "angel" signs from my little Christie. This book only proves that our loved ones are with us all the time, and our signs, no matter what we feel or believe, let us know that our children stay with us, even when they have "crossed over" to the other side. Judy Collier relates to her readers all her signs she and her family have received from her son, Kyle. Judy lets everyone know that there is life after death, and if a person truly believes and lets themselves feel, that these signs will just keep being received by those who have the faith that God's love is truly present at this sorrowful time. I, for one, know this is abosolutely true, even though I admit that my little angel tries to tell her mom to "Get a grip" as maybe I take "signs" a little too far. But, you know, if it makes me feel better, what the heck!!! When a loved one dies, especially your child, a person has to dig really deep and learn so much more. Thank you Judy for writing this much needed book, to let us all know we are not crazy!!! Most importantly, thanks for letting us all realize our children are okay. I believe all parents only want their children's happiness and peacefulness with no worries or pain. Now, I realize my angel and many others have this. So, I tell others, when you see us cry, it is not for Chrisite, but for us who, of course, miss her so deeply. But is she okay?? You bet, and I can't wait till our entire family will one day be together again. Read this amazing book and feel your own signs at your time of grief. With faith in God, and listening to your innermost feelings, you too will realize what Judy herself tries to convince others what she has truly felt and come to believe on her amazing journey--our kids live on and they are okay.

Powerful, profound, and intensely personal testimony
Judy Collier's remarkable autobiographical book, Quit Kissing My Ashes: A Mother's Journey Through Grief, is the powerful, profound, and intensely personal testimony of a teacher of special-needs children and bereaved mother whose beloved son Kyle died in 1996. Her intense mourning and her soul-deep grief are candidly presented, as is her eventual consolation obtained through working with a spiritual medium who was able to make her son's presence known to her on multiple occasions. We are compelling presented with Collier's personal experience and understanding that death is a only a beginning, not an end, and that the ones we love are always present with us in spirit. An uplifting, deeply moving book, Quite Kissing My Ashes is highly recommended for students of metaphysical studies in general, and anyone who has ever lost a loved one, in particular.

The Rice Diet Report Called Me to Durham and Started My Jour
The Rice Diet Report came just in time. I was sitting on a lounge chair when it collapsed under my immense weight. Two weeks later I was in Durham on the Rice Diet. I had bought Judy's book months before, but it took that ephipany of falling through that chair to get me to Durham. In Durham, I lose a hundred pounds and found a culture. I also found a career documenting diet culture. Thanks Judy, always thanks.

Jean Renfro Anspaugh

Truly Works!!
I tried the Rice diet after trying everything else. I tried breathing exercises, aerobics, tae-bo, soup diets, every fad diet listed on the web, the hollywood diet, grapefruit diet, mayo clinic, great american and the list goes on. I never received the results promised. I discovered this book and thought I'd give it a try as well. I bought a 2.50 box of rice, and about $10 worth of canned and fresh fruit for the week. I started at 168 lbs on Wed and was down to 163 by Sat. After that I have just been eating "normal" foods (according to the book) and have maintained for two weeks. With other diets, I gained the weight back within a couple of days of returning to regular foods. I plan to start again today to remove 10-15 more pds. I was tired of the bland rice after four days but I did not have to stop, I could have moved to phase II and continued. However, I wanted to see if I could maintain once lost and YES I CAN!!!!! I know that I can lose this weight on the rice diet and if it starts to come back I now know how to get it off for good. With God's help, I'm determined to go all the way.

A GREAT TOOL FOR PEOPLE SERIOUS ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT
I PURCHASED THIS BOOK THREE YEARS AGO, AND ALTHOUGH I WASN'T SERIOUSLY OVERWEIGHT I DO HAVE A TERRIBLE TIME EATING RIGHT AT TIMES AND THIS BOOKS GETS MY APPETITE IN CHECK. BY EATING ONLY AT SPECIFIC TIMES OF DAY AND NOT SNACKING IN BETWEEN I CAN GET A HANDLE ON THINGS BEFORE ANY SERIOUS WEIGHT GAIN. THE WAY THE BOOK IS WRITTEN REALLY DRAWS YOU IN AND MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE IT IS THE DIARY OF A FRIEND WHO WANTS TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT. GREAT BOOK.

a sweet little fun book that is an excellent buy f
i am the mom of 2 teens and i picked up this book for myself at the children's school book fair!!! I am semi vegetarian...and i am trying to watch my diet so this book came in handy without boring me ...it is dog earred already!!! the recipes are kind of 'buried' in the paragraphs which is a little bit frustrating...but you can flip thru the index to find a favorite...it does not have photographs but it does have illustrations in green and black...many of the facts are grouped into easy to find boxes...so this is a easy read...i recommend the book because you will not go broke by running out buying this item or that because many of us have these staple in our kitchen most of the time...you can also improvise on the recipes according to your tastes...who says adults cannot find gems of a book in the children's book section?

My favourite cookbook ever! 5 stars
This book is really really good. The recipes are delicious and it's easy to understand. It also has some useful nutrition information and some other tips. There was a breakfast chapter that I especielly liked cause I think it can be so hard to fin something that's quick to make and that is nutritionus in the morning. But here you can find some good recipes. I recommend this to any vegetarian or vegan. The recipes are vegan but can be made with dairy products and eggs if you like. This is the best vegetarian cookbook I've ever read. Buy it you won't be sorry =)

Recipes that appeal to teens.
Getting teenagers to eat healthy meals isn't always easy and vegetarian teens are no exception. The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook by Judy Krizmanic provides a good selection of nutritious recipes that will appeal to vegetarian teenagers - as well as those whose teenage years are behind them.
Besides offering a variety of recipes in sections typically found in most vegetarian recipe books, Krizmanic also includes useful chapters on "Easy Pasta Dishes" and "College Cuisine." "The How-To-Get-Your-Nutrients Substitution Chart" and calcium and iron sources listed are informative and helpful as is a "Glossary of Basic Cooking Terms and Unusual Foods." An icon pointing out those recipes that are easy to make is also useful.

Beginnings and Endings.
This wonderful children's book explains the history of the ill-fated ship, from the beginning of its maiden voyage in England to the discovery of the boat at the bottom of the ocean depths by Dr. Robert Ballard. The illustrations are lively and vibrant, giving depth to the easy to understand, yet enchanting text. I have read several children's books about the Titanic and this one seems to have the best of everything.

Well Written and Educational
This fabulous children's book recounts with wonderful illustrations and simple language the tragic and familiar story of the Titanic. When the movie came out my children (then 5 and 8) were not allowed to watch it (why ask for nightmares? ). This book, carefully written with attention to detail, was sufficient to satisfy their need to know about this event in a manner that was sensitive, appropriate and accurate. There is even a picture in the first chapter that shows a cut-away style picture of how the ship was set-up: "Fancy rooms" on the top decks, swimming pool and squash courts at the bottom, and all kinds of rooms in between. Someday my children will be old enough to handle the feelings that the movie evokes, but until then, (since we live in Washington State) I want to be able to use a ferry once in a while! I'm very thankful for this well written, historical children's book!

I LOVE THIS BOOK!
When I was in the 3rd grade, this was my favorite book of all time. I literally must have read it 100 times. I can't believe that I found it on Amazon.com! I am so excited to read it again. I would recommend anyone to get this book- especially Titanic enthuiastes like me(this book made me one).

A Cat's Life: Dulcy's Story

Simply wonderful reading from first page to last
On a late winter day in 1972, a cat (soon to be named Dulcy) found a woman worthy to be her human and with whom she would live for the next seventeen and a half years. When Dulcy's lithe and graceful hunter's body began to fail, and the time came to say good-bye, then her story became a song of acceptance and bravery that would drive to the core of anyone who has ever felt close to an animal companion. Dee Ready's A Cat's Life: Dulcy's Story is beautifully, memorably illustrated by the spectacular artwork of Judy J. King and simply wonderful reading from first page to last.

A Cat's Life; Dulcy's Story
As one who has been "owned" by many felines during my lifetime, I found "Dulcy's Story" to be the history of a wonderful relationship between human and pet, all of the joys and all of the sorrows until the ultimate sorrow of losing a companion of many years. I've gone through it so often and it never gets easier, whether the decision to take the pet to its final rest is made by me through euthanasia or by a natural death. Reading "Dulcy's Story" demonstrates just how these beautiful creatures wrap us around their little paws until we become slaves to all their whims and demands, and we love every minute of it! Unfortunately, many of our family and friends don't understand our loyalty to our pets and, therefore often dismiss us as a little crazy. But that's all right - we know we're OK; it's the rest of them that we worry about and even feel sorry for them if they have never known the unconditional love of a furry friend. Dulcy was a very special cat to a very special human, and the story of their life together is a wonderful testament to their relationship.

It makes me wonder if one or both of my current cats were to write a book on their life with me, what would they say? I would like to think that they would say their lives have been enriched as much as mine has been living together for nearly nine years and hopefully many, many more years.

The Magical Bond Between Cats and Their Humans
If you were to take a survey that asked what a cat did with its life, chances are people would say "nap, look out the window, and get into stuff." And of course theyÕd be right. If those people lived with cats, however, they might have a lot more to add, and if they loved their cats, they might understand the magic that a cat brings to the life of the family it lives with.

The author of this book invites us to observe how this magical bond comes about between human and cat and how deep such a relationship becomes when each learns the ways of the other and grows to love and depend on the other.

Dulcy fits the stereotype many people have of cats. SheÕs independent, persnickety, bossy, and fastidious. But as we read, we find out some amazing things. Dulcy actually teaches her human how to understand cat language; and we learn that she is very complicated indeed and experiences many human feelings. We see her express jealousy, superiority, intelligence, impatience, understanding, loyalty, and above all, love.

Dulcy lives a long, full life and has many adventures, some humorous and some humiliating. And because the book is written in her voice, she shares many of these adventures with us. We get to know her human, too, and while we sometimes wonder how Dulcy puts up with her humanÕs foolishness, we come to understand her human in the special way that Dulcy understands her.

In the end, when Dulcy has been very ill for a long time, her human does not want to let her go. When she takes extraordinary measures to prolong Dulcy's life, we get the sense that Dulcy hangs on to life purely for the sake of her human. Just when her human feels that there is no hope, Dulcy manages to scrape together a few more days, even weeks. And when she goes, she goes sweetly, leaving behind a look of love and a lifetime of memories.

great reference
This is one of the best color, texture reference books I've ever seen. It is definatly a must for all visual artists. The addition of the cd-rom is also a big asset.

A Great Resource for Scenic Artists
Juracek's book has practically every type of surface you could want to duplicate in real paint. I find it a great tool both for use with designers and in trying to guide clients who have no art vocabulary and only a hazy idea of what the hell they want- the images provide a fine jumping off place. It is already a "must have" if not exactly an industry standard- though I'm sure that day is not far off either- highly recommended. Everyone I know has a copy.

Great reference for computer graphics texture creation
This is the book that everybody who writes shaders should have. It's just wall-to-wall reference images of every kind of surface or material you could think of.

I found the CD-ROM to be useless, however, mostly due to the fact that the images are all quantized to a palette of 256 colors each. This makes them completely worthless as texture maps. But that doesn't detract from the fact that the rest of the book is a fantastic visual reference.

tut's mummy
this is a good book for someone around the age of 5 to 7. the book is in really easy to read and in large print. there are 48 pages and it was done in 1988. i think the illustrations could have been a little better. but if you have young kids they might want to read this.

King Tut!
My 5 and 7 year olds LOVED this book! They could not get over the fact that this was a true story and there really is treasure out there to find. They even took it to the neighbor's house and read it to him! That says it all.

Hidden Treasure - Secret Tombs - a Mummy!
Great little book, perfect for the early reader. My then-first grader loved this story of the death and burial of an ancient Pharaoh and his subsequent discovery in the 20th Century by Lord Carrington. Chock full of photos and beautiful, almost impressionistic illustrations. Large print, easy to read.

Tut's Mummy proved to be a valuable part of our Egyptian study. Oh... My daughter's older siblings (then in the fifth and sixth grades) liked the book too!

X-Codes

Worth your money
Reading this book has inspired me tremendously. I've
never believed an Eastern writer could cover so many
fields that actually are the interests of the western
people.
I believe the writer has done a great deal of reading
and research prior to and/or during his writing of
the book which he mentioned he had taken 4 years to
complete.
As for comments on what are all about in the X-Codes,
I have found most of them are already adddressed by
prior reviewers.

My only comment is that it's worth your money to read
this book.

Here are the answers you may be searching for many years!
The book covers a broad and dramatic contents of great interest to modern seekers of the truth. The cover is also very beautifully designed. But why is there a tear dropping down from an eye that looks out from the Cosmos? The fact that we are born imperfect into this world is already good enough reason to really cry in secret. Why are some people suffering while others are enjoying? Is God really fair to all humans? If not, what programs could HE use to ensure all are treated equally and fairly when each soul gains entrance to this world? Read this book and you will discover the answers too.

Buy "X-Codes" Immediately! Simply Brilliant...A Must-Read!
"Scientists have shown that forces emanating from extraterrestrial bodies, particularly the Sun and Moon, affect species on the Earth ranging from potatoes to man" says author, spiritualist and visionary Francis Hoy. In his brilliant new book, The X-Codes, the reader is treated to an exploration of who we are, and why!

Mr. Hoy intelligently discusses cosmic harmony...the influence of extraterrestrial bodies via four fundamental forces; gravitational, electromagnetic, weak nuclear and strong nuclear. We learn that these encode our genes, and therefore affect human nature and behaviors.

This reviewer believes that the insight and loving kindness found in The X-Codes are the result of Mr. Hoy's growth and ability to discern his true and higher Self...the mission we all have. Indeed, how to achieve it is the stated purpose of this provocative work.

The X-Codes delves into not only genetic coding, but also reconwaves (the emanations from the solar system), astrology, reincarnation...and physical death. We learn of the very real possibility that, as the Sun, Moon and Planets matured and thus did their emanations), so did we. Wouldn't this account for the disappearance of, say, dinosaurs?

The X-Codes is a splendid marriage of science and spirituality. Francis Hoy has given us a thoughtful and remarkable presentation that ranges from creation to demise...and an insight of the greater divine mission that follows.

This reviewer recommends The X-Codes to everyone with an astrological bent who is interested in the evolution of humankind, and the interplay of celestial forces that still direct our destinies!
