Good for young childres
I am buying the 2nd copy of this book for my 2 year old grandson. It is one of his favorite books but due to his age and the fact he looks at this book a lot, it has some torn pop-ups. The pictures and pop-ups are large and colorful and are a good learning tool for a young child because there is not so much on a page that it overwhelms them. I highly recommend this book.

Favorite in "Snappy" series
We have most of the SNAPPY books but this is one of our favorites. My 2 year old son absolutely loves all of these books. I would highly recommend the whole set.

You must have this book!
We received this book as a gift and it has become THE BOOK to be read often and daily to my daughter. She has learned what all the animals say and at 18 months pages through the book, making the sounds all on her own. The book is very sturdy so despite the test my daughter is giving it most of the pop-ups are still intact. I plan on purchasing all the other books in this series.

Just the path, ma'am
Confused or adrift in your practice? Maybe reading a lot and putting off actually getting on that cushion you ordered? Well, read this book (and Ayya Khema's *Visible Here and Now*) and you will be confused, lost, or procrastinating no more. Brilliant insight shined right where you need it. GET THIS BOOK!

Sensible mysticism
Finally, a Dharma text that avoids the unnecessary mystical, vague, and ambiguous writing notorious in much of Buddhist literature without devaluating the inherent mystical, vague, and ambiguous nature of Buddhism. Bravo, Mr. Flickstein!

Whoa!
Let's get clear about specifics here! This book addresses ONLY vipassana/ insight methods. Very little on the jhana ("tranquility") practice, which is what you would be talking about if you draw a close association between this book and the Vissudhimagga. So that is which side of the street we are talking about, okay?

Having said that, it's a marvelously good piece of writing, a must-have for every Theravada practicer. You can avoid wasting your time trying to unravel the Vissudhimagga, the Vimuttimagga, the Patisambhaga, also the The Seven Purifications book, and the Seven Insights book (all being translations from Sri Lanka). (You guessed it: I have read them all.) I found this to be EASY READING!

But you will have to look elsewhere for jhana practice methods.

The Best BSC Mystery Book Ever!
Abby and the Notorious Neighbour is quite simply the best Baby-Sitters Club Mystery book I have ever read, and that is saying a lot, because I have read almost all of the BSC books, including the mysteries and the super specials and also the super mysteries, which are really exciting. In this book, Abby's sick and has to stay home for a long time and at first she;s bored because she has nothing to do, but then she accidentally comes across a show on TV called "Mystery Trackers" where they show the most wanted criminals on the loose and in one of the episodes, the show features a criminal who Abby is positive is her next door neightbour, Mr. Finch. So then she decideds to investigate and has a lot of fun doing it, so she's no longer bored. And there is a very interesting and suitable ending. I would recommend this book to any BSC fan or just anyone who loves a good mystery!

soooo coool
This book was great. No, more than great. Totally awesome! This was such a creepy mystery, and Abby and Kristy solve it in the coolest way. This was soooo realistic. The first time I read it I could hardly put it down.

All I CAN SAY IS THAT THE BOOK WAS GREAT !!!!!!!!!
The baby sitters club girls rae my favourite book carecters. they are sooo awsom. The mystery Abby and the notorios neibourgh was one of the best books Ann M. Martin ever wrote.

Not Just for First Grade
I am using this book with my preschool son to reinforce the letters and sounds. This book contains simple, easy to make and learn ideas for games that teach big concepts. There are plenty of ideas to accommodate different learning styles.

Excellent-Both for Fun and Learning
This is a fantastic book by 2 very dedicated professional educators. It is very worthwhile both for its 'fun' interactive activities with your children, and as an extremely valuable educational tool for 'stealth teaching'! (Your child thinks they are just playing, while they are secretly being educated!) We have also found it very useful in helping your child with any learning 'issues', (reading, math, etc.) using enjoyable, interactive activities.

We VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book

A+ Activities is A+ with a Florida Teacher too!
A+ Activities For First grade is a fabulous resource for both parents and teachers. Each of the activties that I am using are easy to present and cost very little. These are two components that mean a lot to a teacher with ltittle extra time and $. Parents have commented that their children love the "extras" presented in this interesting and creative handbook. It's a perfect gift for the holidays. Any teacher or parent will love it. It is adaptable to any age group. A terrific buy too!! My compliments to Naomi Singer and Matt Miller.

Excellent!
This absorbing work presents the knowledge and reminiscences of a modern healer. The nature of healing and wisdom, herbalism and dreamtime, signatures, similars, patterns, elements, temperaments, and constitutions are all subjects of discussion, as are alchemy, chemistry, and the use of medicinal plants. Wood intertwines personal clinical knowledge with information gleaned from traditional herbalism, native American shamanic herbalism, traditional Chinese medicine, and homeopathy. Over 40 plants are described, including information on gathering, preparation, indications, and usage. Presented in a familiar and informal style, the information is not only enjoyable to read but succeeds in imparting a real sense of the healing qualities of each herb.

Deeply Amazing
if you already know how to talk to plants, dont buy it

This book puts it all together.
This herb book is one of the best I've read because of the vivid descriptions. I've been able to help myself much more effectively with herbs now than in the past due to the detailed descriptions. The author explains traditional systems of classifications and includes examples that really stick in the mind. It's obvious the author has a deep understanding and love of each plant.

Great Book!
This book was really good! Throughout the series Claudia really never had much of a "love life". This book gave her some. Also in this book, we get to know Claudia's seventh grade friends better. I think it's great that Claudia's adjusted to seventh grade, and still going strong with the other members. Keep it up Ann!

Magical
This deck is truly magical as is the book "hallowquest the arthurian tarot course" which is its companion. This book is out of print and I was fortunate to get it used after buying the deck! The deck is a teacher and will take you on many journeys. Arthur's lesson is a powerful one which we desperately need today. I think the expression "you and the land are one" holds true for all of us for when we separate ourselves from the land we perish, hurting only ourselves. This deeper message is evident throughout the deck. When returning to the land we return to ourselves. The mystery, magic, wisdom of this deck sings its song for all to hear.

A Well Thought Out Deck
The Arthurian Tarot was the second tarot I bought (the first being the incredibly dull 1JJ!), and despite having since amassed a collection of 15 decks, it has remained my main reading deck for the last 9 years. This deck lends itself to the type of reading that I mainly carry out, which is that concerning personal developmet & exploration of issues, rather than prediction.

This deck follows the Rider-Waite initiative in having a pictorial minor arcana, rather than the bland arrangement of pips so beloved of occultists. The suits are different only in the fact that Spears replace Wands & Stones replace Pentacles, with Pages becoming Maidens. The illustrations embody the feelings of each card perfectly, you can feel the isolation & imprisonment of the eight of swords, the defenciveness of the nine of spears (wands) is clearly evoked by the strong cliff edges and the Washer at the Ford powerfully embodies the forces of Death.

This deck expresses the whole range of experience, refusing to soften the less desirable aspects of life by wrapping them up in soothing colloquialisms. The cards, like life, depict suffering, cruelty & harshness alongside those of love & abundance. This makes it the perfect deck for confronting your inner landscape, and journeying through it, in order to bring restoration & wholeness. This deck is also backed up with two further books, Hallowquest & the Arthurian Tarot Course, which aid those interested in going deeper into the cards than mere prediction.

The book that comes with the cards describes the myths that the scene on each card depicts, which aids the interpretation somewhat, with the myth often embodying a process that the person is currently going through. Also included in the book are some themed spreads, such as Merlins Mirror & Mabons Gate, which I have found are great tools in unravelling the Self.

I must admit that those interested only in prediction are most liklely going to be diappointed by the book, concentrating as it does on more esoteric matters than whether or not someones going to get that house they're hankering over. But that's not to say it's not adaptable to this use, just it's more suited to exploration.

And if anyone is trying to decide whether to go for this or that horrid Legend deck, go for this one, it has finer illustrations and its composition shows that the author's of this deck actually have a knowledge of their subject. The Legend deck is a poor attempt at a copy.

Arthurian Tarot for Personal Enrichment
I have been working with Tarot, divination, astrology and shamanic practice for many years, and Caitlin and John Matthews' "The Arthurian Tarot" is by far my favorite deck. Though I also use Robin Wood Tarot and Universal Waite and Hanson-Roberts and others as well, The Arthurian Tarot lures me again and again with its Celtic and Arthurian/Grail imagery, mythology and symbolism, and its excellent artwork. The "arched-window" border that frames each scene depicted gives the impression of personally observing the scene firsthand from wherever you are in time and place. The Tarot journey is the journey of "The Seeker" in all of us. The scenes are more "realistic" than traditional tarot decks, and sometimes they are more harsh as well. The paperback book "The Arthurian Tarot" that accompanies the deck succinctly describes the myth and legend behind the cards' meanings. Keep in mind that the Matthews' background is rich in Grail lore, Celtic and Druidic study, and Shamanic Practice. Their considerable knowledge and practice in these areas is evident in the symbolism of the cards as well as the explanations in the accompanying book. Caitlin provides helpful first-hand descriptions of how the different spreads have been used with her clients, and many helpful suggestions in using and interpreting them.

If one is already even minimally knowledgable regarding the traditional Waite/Universal tarot meanings and symbolism, it is no great leap to accomodate the Arthurian symbolism. The book lists the traditional Celtic Cross spread along with several other interesting and useful spreads, Excalibur Spread, Merlin's Mirror etc. The Arthurian Tarot is the better deck for use in personal growth and enrichment, as the symbolism and mythology lends itself to this kind of psychological work.

I also own and heartily recommend the companion work by the Matthews, Hallowquest-The Arthurian Tarot Course, (purchased through Amazon.com) which more elaborately explains the mythology and symbolism, and utilizes the The Arthurian Tarot cards in a year-long personal journey of self-discovery and enrichment. There you see that the "arched-window" effect of the cards is carefully planned to assist the Seeker in shamanic meditations to enter the scene and interact within that realm rather than merely be an observer of it.

All things considered, this is a tarot experience that everyone could benefit from, and I heartily recommend the Matthews' Arthurian Tarot.

Covers more than needed, which can be both good and bad
This book is excellent for anyone with little programming expericence. If you have ZERO experience, then I recommend starting with on of the "...for Dummies" books first, as the terminology in this book may be hard to grasp at first. But if you're moving over from C++, Java, or VB, this is a great place to start. In fact, this book contains much more needed for just beginning, and by the end of the read you should be able to write a full-fledged Windows app with little problems.

The downsides of the book are few, but important to note. First off, the author doesn't spend enough time visually describing how OOP (object oriented programming) works. Before you know it, you'll be diving into classes, methods, delegates, and events before fully understanding basic concepts. Chapters 9-12 are by far the most difficult in the book to follow. Most everything else is cake. Also, because the book is just loaded with information, it may be hard for a beginner to differentiate from a beginners topic and a more advanced topic that you may never use.

Overall the book is a great read and I recommend it for anyone who wants to jump into C#. I easily finished it within less than a month with a pretty sound basic knowledge of what C# is about. After reading this, I recommend buying Professional C# (Second Edition) from WROX along with The C# Reference book they also put out. With those three books, you have a foundation to do just about anything you can think of.

Great book but remember it's designed for beginners
Great book if your are new to programming. However, it is, just like the title implies, designed for beginners. If you have any C++ or Java experience you might want to skip this book and go straight to Professional C#.

Beginning c# as easy as pie
I purchased the 'visual blueprint for c# 'first went thru it
in three weeks. This book was like the dummies and then
I bought 'the "begining c#' and went through it like
lightning.
This is the best book I see for getting you on yur feet with no
programming experience and the examples were certainly
very easy to follow.
I have no complaints.

The Doo Wop Bible
Get it. Very well done book. It just about have anythimg you want to know except for the kitchen sink, but who cares for the kitchen sink this is Doo Wop.

A comprehensive book everyone who likes doo wop should have
In recent years, due primarily to the PBS series on Doo Wop, this musical genre is being rediscovered. Finally, there is a comprehensive book on the who's, why's and what's of the definitive music of the 50's and early 60's.

Although this book sometimes over-emphasizes the specific sounds of the music (shoop de doop etc.) and spends too much time on certain groups, it is a great (and relatively inexpensive) resource for song titles. I especially liked the chapter on song styles from different parts of the country.

If it has a weakness, it isn't as comprehensive a guide on specific groups as is Jay Warner's book on singing groups. Still, all in all it is an excellent resource guide and a book any Doo Wop afficianado should have in a collection.

Very Informative
nowadays it's hard to get folks to sing on key.but this book showcases many great Acts that had there stuff together&were the real deal.you get alot of insightful information that details the great stuff from the good stuff.a solid comprehensive book that is very detailed&on point all the way through.this is a very important form of Creativity that needs to be fully appreciated by many.it's the basic for Harmony in any group that wants to be taken seriously as a vocal group.a must have great facts&insight.
