Instead, Campion is drawn into the glittery world of high fashion and theater, where appearances are often confused with reality. When Georgia's husband Sir Raymond Ramillies dies under suspicious circumstances Val is implicated and Albert goes into high gear. He uncovers one ugly secret after another, but the pieces never seem to quite fit together. Motives such as blackmail, greed, drugs and jealousy all abound but Campion is unable to pinpoint a suspect who has both means and opportunity.
This is one of Allingham's longest novels, and certainly is the most complex. It provides glimpses into London's fashion and theatrical world as well as some shattering demonstrations of the prejudices and flaws of the Great Britain's rich and famous. Written in 1938, the book reflects the morality of the times. A sensitive reader may find some statements that are, to put it mildly, politically incorrect. These are unfortunate, and provide an insight into the thinking of the upper classes on either side of the Atlantic, but should not be permitted to detract from the overall quality of the novel.
One of the special delights of this novel is the reappearance of Amanda Fitton, heroine of the "The Gyrth Chalice Mystery." She comes to Albert, seeking help, after a hiatus of six years, and manages to become engaged to him in the space of one evening. She becomes Campion's loyal, if irreverent, assistant and very nearly steals the whole novel. Lugg also gets in his share of grumping and grousing. "The Fashion in Shrouds" is one of Allingham's best, serving up mystery, humor, suspense and social commentary in great big, heaping doses.

In Part I, Kasper tackles the God-question as it is understood today by beginning with an analysis of modern atheism and how modern theology must respond to the critiques of atheism. He then moves on to human knowledge of God, and treats both the philosophical arguments for God's existence and the theology of the self-revelation of God in Jesus Christ.
In Part II, Kasper traces the history of Trinitarian theology beginning with the Scriptures and then moving on to historical Trinitarian theology. He pays close attention to the conciliar teachings. He is also critically evaluates the thought of every theologian he treats, which is most of them.
In Part III, Kasper enters into a systematic theological discussion on the Trinity and concludes with his own formulation of an answer to modern atheism, which is founded in Johannine Trinitarian theology -- i.e., Jesus' High Priest Prayer (Jn 17) and the formula: "God is Love" (1 Jn 4).
This book is necessary for any graduate theology student. The casual reader, however, ought to beware. This is a very difficult book; one really needs a basic understanding of both philosophy and theology to get the most out of it.

WRONG. Gray Highway approaches the American UFO mythology from a totally new angle: two friends embark on a roadtrip of famous UFO sites. From Roswell to New England, to the mesa vortex of Sedona, they scrounge the American landscape for signs of intelligent life...and often come up with the unexplicable. The co-authors recorded their experience vigilantly, and their back-and-forth narrative is the work of people unhampered by commercialism or preconceived notions of the subject matter. Which isn't to say they don't know what they're talking about!
Gray Highway is a light but literate exploration of how a collective mythology shapes the American landscape. Whether you believe in little green men or not, you will surely be taken in by this very original and entertaining book.
for architecture students, this book is a must. enough said. :)

I've also visited the GreatBuildings.com website, where you can see hundreds of the buildings free of charge, but it's even better having it on the CD , because there are thousands more images, and you're not slowed down by the modem.
