5 Stars is All?????
I'd give it more if I could...This book is fantastic. The way it is "set-up" is a little odd at first, but you get the hang of it quickly. The writing is beautiful, gentle, kind, I wanna say more, but you get the picture. It is definatley not the type of book for a (shall I say) non-believer in all things spiritual. It's spiritual and celtic, "other-world" has invoking prayers, etc. It's not hokey by any means, but if you are not open-minded you MAY think so. Someone who is ready for the right teacher to appear will be ready for this book. If this book (or author) find their way to you, consider it a blessing and read her. You'll be pleased the universe brought you together.

A necessary investment in Celtic spirituality!
Blessed be the spinner of the universe for giving us Caitlin Matthews! If you want a book to guide you DAILY on your path toward Celtic spirituality, this is it. I read from it morning and evening, and take it with me whenever I leave home. It is both comforting and thought-provoking! Companioned with Caitlin Matthews' The Celtic Spirit: Daily Meditations for the Turning Year, you have an infinite supply of daily and special devotionals as well as Celtic lore with meditation suggestions.

Blessed Daily Weavings
Caitlin Matthews proves herself once again as a pre-eminent wisdomkeeper of our ancient Celtic inheritance with the release of Celtic Devotional. Mirroring the ancient formulaic prayers to the elements found in the Celtic tradition, along with the wondrous invocations and declarations of the bards of the Scottish, Irish and Welsh traditions, Celtic Devotional provides a numinous doorway through which the modern person can re-invest their life with meaning within the twilight times of dusk and dawn. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

We love Snappy Books!
As always, this Snappy book is adorable and loved by our 2 year old! This book is the greates number book I've ever seen (as a preschool teacher, I've seen many), because it really encourages kids to count, in a fun manner. Each page coordinates with the number, for example, the page with the number seven has a lion with seven whiskers, but all the other creatures on the page, are pictured in sevens. The book also shows the written out and the numerical form for each number. It was an instant hit in our household!

Great Book
My daughter received this book when she was a couple months old and she is now 6. She still loves it! The pictures are wonderfully colorful and the pop-ups are amazing. The book is not thick, but big, which lets for big, colorful pictures. Also, the pop-ups do a cute action as you open the page up. This book is vivid and entertaining enough to even capture an adult's attention. A definite buy!

Great books for ANY age!
I have a three month old daughter and her eyes light up when she sees the pictures of the animals and the bugs! The pictures are so bright and capture her attention! Hope to see more books, perhaps with sea creatures, birds, rain forest animals....! Great job!

Lovely little story!
I am a grandmother of 16 and my grandchildren and I were delighted by this simple but effect story. We found it to be charming and warm. Just the type of story children need to teach positive attributes to them. parents could learn a little about tolerance and acceptance as well!

Choco-imaginative!
Hey, what else could anyone ask for in an adventure story for children. You've got Chocolate, pyramids, to lost boys, and a monkey (changito) to save the day! What an imagination. Even the Aztecas couldn't have come up with this one. We loved this! Recommened to readers of all ages. We also bought there T-shirts and posters. Great stuff!

Monkey fun!
This was so much faun and educational at the same time for our children. The short adventure story actually taught them somehting about another part of the world, and kept their attention. It was a fast paced story. We loved the package that the book comes in and the free iron on t-shirt decal that was a free gift! A free gift with a purchase. Now that was great!

A heartfelt life lesson
This book brought to my heart a flood of emotions that will not likely be forgotten. It is an absolute "must read" for every parent to their child and for themselves. A truly magnificent peice of literature... Bravo Your Honor!

great present
My son received this book as an early Christmas from his grandparents. We lived in New York for 11 years before moving out of state. Mom bought it to remind us of our old place. Our son was captivated by the beatiful pictures and the beautiful and inspiring story. He is at an age where stories like this affect him personally. After we read it together he asked if we could visit that tree when we go back to visit grandma and grandpa. In a child's simplicity he said,"see mom, if people try hard enough they can do anything" Thankyou Mr. Cuomo it is a beautiful story you share. Thank you Mr.VanFrankehuyzen for the illustrations that brought the message to life.

The Governor's words will always be a learning experience.
The illustrations are just the way I pictured them at the time of the first writing.

The Governor's sensitivity and caring ways always show through in his writings. Gov, thanks for continuing to teach us with such thought provoking simplicity. My grandchildren also thank you.

Separates hype from hope, again and again
When this book was first released, I gave a copy to my 75-year-old mother, who has osteoarthritis. Over and over, she's told me about consulting this book when trying to decide whether or not to try some remedy that a friend has suggested. She feels that it has kept her from spending a fortune on snake oil, and has made her bold enough to try alternative approaches that have been helpful, such as glucosamine-chondroitin supplements. Obviously it was the perfect gift.

An Excellent Guide For Anyone, Traditional or Nontraditional
I found this book very helpful in making sense out of the confusing array of alternative therapies out there these days. Ms. Horstman provides a no-nonsense overview of many traditional healing techniques, together with a comprehensive bibliography and medical references. The organization of the book makes it very easy to use, too. Overall, this book shows a high level of quality on all levels, and is a valuable resource for those of us in search of health and healing!

Great resource
Overall, a finely-written and much needed compendium of arthritis information. Judith Horstman did a wonderful job of sifting through the medical literature to produce an easy-to-access resource for the (often) confusing world of alternative arthritis treatments.

Excellent Book to start Biochemistry!
Mathew's Biochemistry is an excellent book to start this difficult subject! The easy diagrams and interesting notes just keeps you wanting to learn more...Read, read and read. If only it could have a more clinical focus it would be 100% perfect. Combine it with "Harper's Biochemistry" and you will soon run A+ on scores! To die for!

A really excellent Biochem book.
There are so many books out there that is really tough to choose one. This is certainly one of the best available. It combines up to date data (3rd edition - 2000) with great easy to understand writing. It may not be the best books available... but it certainly is one of the best.

great book!
I am a biochemistry major at the university of the philippines. i have several biochem books on my shelf and i just recently purchased a copy of the 2000 edition (i also have the 2nd ed). the book just keeps getting better. the book really helps a lot especially when the class lecture corresponds with how the book presents the subject matter. as a biochem major, i'd say this is a pretty good way to present biochem. it makes it seem easy and fun to read. you look at the pictures and read the caption and you learn the idea in a flash.

Mary Anne's Revenge (Baby-Sitters Club Friends Forever, 8)

Sweet Revenge
Here's the deal. MaryAnne, as you know, has broken up with Logan. Cokie is still after Logan, and she's also still attacking MaryAnne (you know what I mean).

Both MaryAnne and Cokie are on the yearbook team, or whatever you call it (I read this a few days ago). Cokie is in charge, and she's most enthusiastic about the parts like "Most sporty", "Most likely to be seen in Beverly Hills", etc. Cokie is convinced that she fits in most of this categories, and is being mean to MaryAnne, spreading rumours and everything.

MaryAnne teams up (sort of) with Cary Retlin to get her revenge on Cokie. But in the end...
It really is Sweet Revenge. Read it and find out. The Real New MaryAnne is much better than the Old MaryAnne or the Not Good New MaryAnne. Hope you liked this review.Br

Yo go girl!
By far this is the best book in the bscff series. Mary Annedefinately proved she not just meek shy girl always behind someone todefend her. This time that punk Cokie finally was cut down to size, by Mary Anne. First Cokie made fun her by her big breakup with Logan, then lied about Logan saying that she begged him to get back with him. Also said he going with another girl{which was true}, then she sabotaged the yearbook ballots! . That's when Mary Anne did her own scheming as well, along with the BSC's rival, Cary.In this book you could see Mary Anne try on new attitudes and maturing from the old quiet Mary Anne! She even snuck out of her house! Now that's major improvement! Also in this book Mary Anne and her parents settled long overdue conflicts.Mary Anne has proven herself to Logan, BSC, Cokie, the whole school,... and herself that she is here and here to stay!

A Wonderful Book
I have always loved the books on Mary Ann. I am, like Mary Ann, also very shy and sensitive. After reading this book I walked away feeling braver and stronger. I love the new Mary Ann because she is not only her caring old self but also a new more confident person. This book is really an insperation. It also shows you that when you belive in yourself, with a little help from your friends, you can do anything. This book is a true treasure.

Thank you, Muppets!
This is a great kids' craft book. The projects are colorful and substantial. The instructions are meticulously presented. Adults will also enjoy doing these crafts! This is a good book...no lame, boring projects here! Nope! This is Muppet quality fun stuff!

Why did I not give this book 5 stars if I like it so much? Well, sometimes I felt the level of difficulty indicators were off a bit. Also, I simply wish there had been more of this book...a thicker book with more ideas. Most crafts would be appropriate only for older children. I wish there were more options for wee ones.

I recommend this book wholeheartedly to homeschooling parents, elementary school teachers, scout leaders, Bible school directors, and the like. Others may want to check it out at the library first to see if it would work with your children. Still, I bet if you bring home a stack of kids' craft books from the library, _The Muppet's Big Book of Crafts_ will be the most creative, colorful, ambitious one in the pile.

Wocka, wocka, wocka!
I LOVE THIS BOOK! As a more 'mature' muppets fan, I can highly recommend this book, both for it's practical craft suggestions and as a darn fine book to look at. The photos are superb and nearly all my favourite characters were featured. So far, we have only had one failure among our craft attempts. The 'wax paper butterflies' ended up being 'runny crayon blobs' but we still had fun making them! This book will definitely be a keeper long after my kids have outgrown the projects.

Not just for the kiddies!
I never considered myself a "crafty" person before I got my hands on this book! My roommate got it over a year ago and I had to get my own copy because we soon won't be living together anymore. It is true what the other reviewers have said that there isn't a lot for little kids in this book (though there are at least 20 good things for children) but there are a zillion crafts-for-kids books out there. This book is for EVERYBODY! Really, these projects could be handled by children, but many of them take patience that some children don't have. The projects in this book may take longer than projects in other books, but the end result is probably much better, too. After all, these projects come from the Muppet Workshop, and we all know the Muppets they make are not like ordinary craft puppets. My favorite project in this book is the "Eggshell Mosaic" which involves selecting your favorite drawing/picture (I did Sailor Moon, my friend did Tigger... there is a stencil in the book of Fozzie Bear), making a tracing of this picture onto cardboard, dying eggs the colors you will need to color in your tracing, and gluing the broken colored eggshell pieces into place! It looks like a fancy tile design you might see in a subway station. Everyone who has seen our eggshell mosaics is impressed! All of the projects have easy-to-follow instructions and helpful hints on how you may want to do your project. It is loaded with color photos of examples, and step-by-step drawings. I must have at least ten bookmarks in my copy, all marking projects that I can't wait to do! I can't stress enough what a great book this is. These must be the things Muppet Workshop people do with their children on the weekends. I don't have kids yet, but when I do, I am sure we will wear this book out until it is ragged.

Understanding 2
The second edition in the Air Disaster format places us in some of the more difficult to understand disasters that have taken place. The central subject being the Douglas DC10 and the two major disasters that nearly ended it's career as a passenger liner, first the American Airlines O'Hare disaster, which of course was the result of negligence on the part of maintainance lazyness. I wonder if those who changed the engines that way before that tragic day can live with themselves today.

The second DC10 incident is the tragic Air New Zealand Antarctic sightseeing flight. Human error and the events leading up to the aircraft's demise are explained in great detail but there are still to many unanswered questions.

Once again Macarther Job has done well on a subject that is still very much taboo for many people.

Continuing success story
This second volume is perhaps even better than the first. Technology has allowed the collection of more data from more recent accidents, allowing the author to truly delve into the details of the selected accidents.

Some say it's like watching a train wreck, you just can't look away. I think it's more of a knowledge is power series - those who may fear flying may gain a sense of security from the detail and the true infrequency of these events - plus from the amazing detail and dedication shown in the investigation of each incident and application to the airline industry.

Not as good as the 1st one; better than the 3rd.
If you really liked the first Air Disaster book, then get this one, because it is fascinating stuff.

In my opinion, the most tragic accidents are the ones outlined in chapters 2 to 7 and 9 & 10. For me, the most interesting read was concerning an American Airlines DC10; just after takeoff at Chicago O'Hare airport - the left engine ripped off by itself and separated from the wing, tumbling out of control down the runway. As you can imagine, the subsequent scene as the aircraft careened out of control were horrific.
It was eventually found that this incident was caused by Continental's air maintenance crews, who removed the engines and mounts as one piece instead of the way that McDonnell Douglas had specified them to be removed separately, and consequently the engine mounts were damaged. So there you go: human error after all!

Yet another unique crash involved a collision between a 727 and a Cessna. How could two planes collide you wonder? Only one way to find out...
And also included is the infamous Air New Zealand DC-10 that crashed into Mt Erebus during a scenic flight over Antarctica.

This edition includes two photos (one is especially spine-chilling) of planes that are within [split]seconds of crashing. One can only imagine how the crew and passengers felt at that time.

This book also made me aware of one very ubiquitous misconception: people think that if you're flying on a 747 at 37,000 feet and all four engines fail, you'll hit the ground like a dart. This simply isn't true. A 747 with no engines takes roughly 23 minutes with a 3-degree glide slope to reach the ground from this altitude! Moreover, it can resume level flight on only one engine! Incredible.

If there's something else that this series has taught me, it's that an accident is most likely to occur immediately after takeoff, or sometime within half an hour of takeoff.

Story of Christianity: A Celebration of 2,000 Years of Faith

a colorful read
I really liked this book as it is so colorful. A lot of history books fall down because they have very poor presentation. I am interested in art as well and I found the illustration really helpful. Another thing I liked about the book is that one author is a priest and the other a layman, a Protestant. Yet the two really gel well together. I have a new respect for the variety of Christianity and the influence it had on our culture and civilisation. Just to think, without the popes, America would not be geographically the way it is today.
I wish there were more in the book. Hopefully the paperback will have more. One last thing. This book is in no way designed or written to convert anybody. It is a scholarly, yet popular presentation of the largest religion in the world.
Full marks and a great read.

An inspiring book!
While it's written to be a Reference book, I couldn't put it down! I read the entire book, including the marginal notes, over two days. It was fascinating reading, and I am in awe of how much research these gentlemen had to go thru to assemble such an enormous history! Equally impressive was how fairly they treated all of the different Protestant faiths.
Lastly, while I attend an Assemblies of God church, I have gained more respect for the Catholic church, as well as other denominations. I feel more 'connected' to other Christian faiths, and see how little really divides us. It definately kept me awake all night -- feeling full of joy!

Inspiring, lavshly illustrated, comprehensive, a must!
This amazing book has absolutely delighted me. The obvious good feeling between a Catholic Priest and a lay protestant has given birth to a super overview of the history of Christianity. It is beautifully written, visually stùnning and a must read not only for those well versed in their religion but for those still seeking to enhance their knowledge. Kudos to the authors|
