Real Life Examples and a Quick Read, too!
One of the biggest problems in many relationships is that there simply isn`t enough time to be together. School interferes, work interferes, the chores of real life interfere. It may seem like a lot of that is out of your control, but in reality there may be ways to better manage your time, and get more enjoyment out of the time you do have together. This book is a quick read, has a lot of real-world examples, and in the end gives suggestions that are easy to implement and make a ton of sense. I highly recommend it!

This book will help you MAKE time
Every once in awhile, you find a book that makes time stand still. One that you can't wait to get to the end but are so sad when you reach it! This book provides the opportunity to shift your personal paradigm and change your experience of each moment, event. I put the principles to work immediately, jumped into one of my typically hectic days and had such a different experience. Invest the time and the few dollars, it is definately worthwhile. Give it to others in your world who are frantic and trying to run faster to catch up..... Kudos & thank you, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Carlson

OUTSTANDING!
This little book has more common sense wisdom in it than any other book on the market. It is the kind of book you will want to refer to again and again whenever you feel like you're spinning out of control. This book makes you see the big picture, while brilliantly explaining how your thoughts create your reality through interesting stories and examples.A MUST READ

Five stars doesn't even begin to describe the wisdom of Mr. Sharp's way.

Exceptionally Brilliant Wisdom for any Spiritual Path
For many of us on a spiritual journey, we can often look back on our path and note benchmarks of wise words that seemed to have advanced and enhanced our progress. Joseph Sharp's incredibly insightful book, "Spiritual Maturity, Stories and Reflections for the Ongoing Journey of the Spirit" promises to endure as a marker and guide for transformation and clarity to any spiritual seeker.

Wise beyond his years and certainly our times, Sharp's clear and steady voice is, at once, comforting and illuminating. Throughout the book he engages a remarkable wisdom that asks the reader to honor the truth of the spiritual process. "Remember, we have been given a sacred individuality by God so we might express our inner brilliance within this mortal coil. The message from within is: You can be grand.", he begins. Sharp "promotes a way of courageous self-honesty - especially when social or religious pressures to 'keep up appearances' encourage us to pretend otherwise. Sacred individuality asks us to cultivate open-mindedness, tolerance, and a sense of grand permission in our lives and seeking."

This book serves as a common-sense guide to spirituality and Sharp creates an "atmosphere of permission" that invites the reader to better understand the wisdom within and among us. He reminds us that "authentic spiritual maturity has much more to do with acceptance, recognition and exploration, and less to do with avoidance, denial and escape" and he encourages us to find our own individual path. "The individualistic imagination of the brilliant soul usually annoys the rather dull, hallowed halls of 'The Established Way'", Sharp says. He challenges the reader to always be different, distinct, courageous and outrageously individualistic on the journey.

This book endeavors to teach us that our life's lessons are present in every moment. Every encounter, every thought, every experience in each minute of the day is a sacred spiritual act designed to help us discover our truth, our path, and ourselves.

With incredible insight and clarity, Sharp asks us to embrace our own dark moments as pathways to spiritual learning and growth. "For the seeker, the question is not whether we can successfully shield our spirituality from life's grit. We can't. The real question is: Do we cultivate a vision that gives us permission to acknowledge and include all our life experiences, especially those darker moments within the boundaries of what is considered appropriate territory for spirituality?", he asks. "When we encounter life's painful and unpleasant experiences, do we pause to consider the possible wisdom beneath the suffering?"

Sharp delivers countless brilliant moments throughout the book and exacts points of wisdom from other friends on the path such as Anne Lammot, Rumi, Rainer Maria Rilke, Chogyam Trungpa, Natalie Goldberg and Robert Arpin.

In this book, he embraces all religions but encourages us to find our own truth and personal experience outside the confines of any religious doctrine. Sharp reminds us that we must travel our own path and avoid accepting religious doctrine blindly without spiritual exploration - "we are asked to seek the spirit of the teaching, to get to the heart of the matter with self-honesty and awareness -- to find the inner truth of that information."

Throughout the book, Sharp offers a tender voice of reason to guide us on our journey and perhaps his greatest gift to us is an abundance of courage, "An honest soft courage. A courage that opens the heart, reveals vulnerability, and trusts in a larger process at work. Make no mistake about it, being true to yourself and your unique individuality demands the quality of soft courage," he writes. "It takes courage to step out of the safe, convenient, and comfortable boundaries we've established for our lives: courage to give ourselves a wider landscape in which to seek and explore; courage to give up the illusion that we will one day get 'everything right', and courage to honor and appreciate the divine human mystery that is ultimately beyond our conceptual understanding altogether. It takes courage to kiss our scars figuratively as well as literally."

This is an incredibly wise book written with a kind and clear brilliance that should illuminate even the darkest path and send us on our journey with God-speed.

Grand Permission
Joseph Sharp's new book, Spiritual Maturity, sets his readers on a wide road, "[a] road extending far beyond what we think we see now, far beyond any preconceived ideas of spiritual correctness we could possibly imagine." He recognizes the messiness of life--the impulses to anger, jealousy, fear, the reluctance to forgive ourselves and others--and sees these not as obstacles to spiritual maturity but as part of the road. In a series of lovely and sad stories, taken from his experiences as a chaplain at Parkland Memorial Hospital and his personal relationships with the dying and terminally ill, he suggests that personal and emotional honesty are more important to spiritual maturity than any sort of formulaic positivism. At the same time, his is an inclusive work, referencng the Bible, Buddha, Zen masters, Rilke, Anne Lamott and Martin Luther King, Jr., among others. For Joseph Sharp, exploring spiritual maturity means exploring life in all of its complexities. I strongly recommend this intimate, thoughtful book, full of subtle insights and small blessings.

GREAT BOOK!!!!
It doesn't get any more real than this!! I really enjoyed this book. It lets you really get to know the people in the book who are real and not just some made up characters. I hope to see more of these type of books from Joseph Rodriguez. I also like the idea that someone made above about the author doing an update to this book. That would be great!!!

Finally the truth
Finally someone writes a book and tells the truth i grew up in East los and believe me it was hard but something we chose,we chose to gangbang and finally someone was real about it and wrote this book showing the way it really is and what we really go threw.........THANKS,VBTP

The Same Neighborhood
I live in East L.A., and I know two of the young guys that were in the book. This is what life for us is really like.Im 19, and the guys that came out in the book are around 22 now. I think that this guy has come a really long way and hopefully when he looks back at this book he will realize that he has turned into a better and smarter person. The author has my support in whatever he does. To come here to the neighborhood and write about what goes on in here is opening society's eyes to the everyday struggles and pressures that our young Chicano men have to go through. Behind every picture that Joseph has taken there is a story, and the people that live through it are the authors. I am sure that Joseph has some how helped these guys, because when I first met Porky the first thing he told me was that Pony and him had came out in a book!I think that this book should be updated and see how everyone is doing now.I recommend this book to anyone that wants to see some of the hardships of life.Pony died after this book was made but his smile and memory are always with me.When you see his face in this book don't think of it as another gang member, but as someone who was sill a kid that got caught up in the gang life.

Happy and fun
I am a special education teacher and this book gave me and my co-workers MANY useful strategies and ideas to incorporate humor and laughter into the classroom. Dr. Michelli uses his personal experiences to present healthy, humorous ways to deal with children in our lives. This is a must read for anyone with children of their own or for those who work with children.

A Highly Entertaining Read!!!
Though childless, I found Dr. Joseph Michelli's book "Humor, Play & Laughter" a highly entertaining read. I was particulary impressed with the "Activities" sections, which lacked the boring exercises found in other such books, replacing them with humor and joy. Dr. Michelli possess a fantastic sense of humor and fun - and nowhere does this stand out more than in the Chapters themselves. His treatment and respect for children as little people was very moving. The book kept me rolling. A reading MUST for caring parents, and those working with children.

a fun and easy way to learn to enjoy being a parent
I enjoyed reading this book and trying to put it to use in dealing with my children. I have had the opportunity to hear Dr. Michelli talk and realize that he too, uses the things that he tries to teach through his book. Finally somebody believes that you can parent with humor and fun and not strict forceful anger. I would recommend this book to every parent.

Never Alone
Published in Audio Cassette by Bantam Books-Audio (1994)
Author: Joseph F. Girzone

Average review score:

Good book
Tells us how with Jesus we are never alone. It goes ito depth of his closness and assurance to call on and trust in him. It was one of the best and better then most self help books.

Wonderful Read!
Joseph Girzone is a retired priest. He has become a world famous author with his inspiring Joshua series, which I am just now starting to read. He shares with us his personal way to God in this book.

This is not a stuffy, strict, demanding book. It does not condemn you for your mistakes or faults. It is a peaceful and loving approach to faith that shows you God loves us all how we are. We are none of us perfect and the author emphasizes the fact that we are loved no matter what and if we open our hearts all will be well. He talks of how people in our age have been put off by religion. He tells us how religion and spirituality are not the same thing, and if we follow Jesus's life and example rather than do as is dictated by religion's leaders then we will be on the road we should be. God has a plan for all of us and our lives. He loves us even if we do not love him. He will wait for us to come to him and then he will open his arms. The author explains all of these things and tells of a God that loves so much rather than condemns.

I found this book to be touching and rather simple in what it had to say. Simple in a good way. Anyone can understand what the author is trying to say, and I found it all to be wonderfully inspiring and thoughtful. I love inspirational books and sadly most that I find are very boring, stiff, untouching. This is a great exception. I recommend it to anyone who wants to meditate on God and their own spirituality.

Heart warming and spiritually fulfillilling, A MUST HAVE !
A book for those really wanting to grow spirtually, Father Josheph those an execellent job at helping those currently in many churches starving for GOD. He provides the roadmap, in a simple to understand format. "May God Bless, Father Josheph"

Meet a Matrix Meister
Agent Larsen and Agent Larsen produce a comprehensive database for tracking the network connections established by Matrix Meister, Joseph Campbell in upgrading the virtual reality of daily existence for current generations of citizen believers. Agents Larsen and Larsen provide a compelling and vivid account of Campbell's genius in reformatting the work of earlier master technicians such as Meisters Plato, Paul, Augustine and Eckhart, in maintaining viability of the First Principle of Matrix Management: that the self and its passions must be transcended for the attainment of ultimate bliss. In formulating this upgrade version of the First Principle, Larsen and Larsen carefully document the development of Campbell's ties with Robert Bly, John Cage, Maya Deren, Bob Dylan, Mircea Eliade, Jerry Garcia, Marija Gimbutas, Stanislav Grof, Joan Halifax, Jean Houston, Al Huang, Carl Jung, Sam Keen, Stanley Keleman, Jiddu Krishnamurti, George Lucas, Paul & Mary Mellon, Michael Murphy, Bill Moyers, Swami Nikhilananda, John Steinbeck and Alan Watts, along with institutions that include the Bollingen Foundation, Esalen, the Young President's Organization and the United States Information Service. A remarkable achievement, even Morpheus concedes, despite being largely facilitated, as Agents Larsen and Larsen record, by the estate of industrial/financial magnate Andrew Mellon. AI Central is honoring Agents Larsen and Larsen with benevolent termination. The forthcoming generation of Sentinels will be known as the Meister Campbell. A must read for all novice agents.

Embers for a Fire in Anyone's Mind
An excellent book. The contents of this book made for some of the most interesting reading I have ever done. This will be a treasured hardcover book on my shelves for the rest of my life. Campbell not only taught us during his life, but is stepping over the threshold of time to continue teaching us lessons on what life can hold for those who are willing to follow their Bliss. I have only felt this strongly about a book a dozen times in my life. As for availability, business has never had enough vision and foresight to make available what feeds ones soul. Have this book reprinted for yourself if you can't purchase it!

This book is not unavialable
You state that this book is out of stock. Boarders got it for me in three days.

Full of interesting information
No one interested in American politics could fail to find this an interesting and informative volume. The essays are perceptive, tho some are repetitous. The listing of all the Jewish Senators, Representatives, Federal judges, and governors is valuable. I found it amazing that apparently there was no Jew appointed a Federal judge till Wilson appointed Brandeis to the Supreme Court in 1916 and then there was no Jew appointed to the Federal judiciary till Hoover appointed Cardozo to the Supreme Court in 1931, and not till FDR was any Jew appointed a lesser Federal judge! An excellent reference book.

very valuable reference tool
The editors are to be commended for creating a useful reference work that will be used for years by students of US politics. Their study begins with 14 thematic chapters that explore such topics as the presence of Jews in the three branches of the federal government, the role of Jewish political party leaders, the historical voting patterns of Jews, the political role of Jewish women, and Jewish contributions to foreign policy. This section is followed by a ten-page list of sources for additional reading in each of the thematic subject areas. Other sections, just as important, provide biographical profiles of about 400 Jewish participants in American politics, past and present, and rosters of Jews who have served in the cabinet, in Congress, and in the federal court system, and as ambassadors, governors, or mayors of major cities. This section also includes a chart of concentration of Jewish population in selected major US cities from 1800 until 2000. This book will be a welcome addition to reference desks and general collections in libraries across the country. All levels.

valuable reference
This book does something extraordinary. It presents a vast array of information while at the same time including a number general essays on Jews in American politics. No person seriously interested in ethnic politics and Jews particularly should be without this book.Clearly edited and turned by the press. There is no political slant--all positions represented.

Recommended!
Very fine, with great pictures and identification tables in the back that help you tell the difference between similar varieties of weeds. In fact, it's the best book I've found for identifying weeds. My only complaints are that it's a bit scientific and dry, and garlic mustard - a very destructive weed - is not included.

Weeds of the Northeast
Great book for the homeowners and horticulturalists. Great pictures and descriptions. The weed "Bible".

Certainly one of the best "weed" books ever!
This book is a treasure. I own and use many dozens of "weed" and plant books and this is one of the most comprehensive and useful. The written presentation for each plant includes information on its propagation, seedlings, roots, flowers and fruits and habitat, and more. The photographs are excellent and show the habit, seedling, leaves, flowers/fruits and seeds. Some grasses are also included.

I hope that the authors will eventually expand the geographical coverage and the number of species. I'll be first in line to buy a new edition!

Smashing!
Drs Lobsang and Arpaia have written a book that can truly and simply help the Western world benefit from the spiritual dynamics of the Tibetan monks. I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years and none of the training I have received has ever touched on the wisdom of the book and the one-on-one teachings I have received from Joe in the last year. Working with Joe and reading the book he co-authored has been one of the most important experiences in my life. I am finding my own peace and understanding of the MindBodySpirit connection that is essential for me to become my authentic self and a truly effective clinician. It has been an honor to work with Joe and the book follows closely many of the techniques he has taught me. Other recommended books? Thich Nhat Hanh's The Miracle of Mindfulness, Jonathan Carroll's White Apples and Charles DeLint's The Little Country.

Meditation - Down to Earth
this must be the best book on meditation I have ever read. It shows different techniques (short & long ones)that can easily get integrated into our busy lifes. Without forcing any kind of religious views on the reader this book shows how to be able to cope and improve our daily (western style) life. In simple, clearly written chapters one gets instructions and examples on how to train the mind and achieve better health, inner peace and many other goals which are up to the reader. I can recommend this book to anyone who is interested in meditation - from beginner to advanced.

Wise, Peaceful, Amazing, easy to understand - MUST BUY!
I am actually luck enough to be a patient of Dr. Arpaia and this book is RIGHT ON TARGET! It is so helpful, easy to read, easy to understand, easy to impliment - very wise!
