A book of Grace
In contrast to Pope John Paul II's "theology of body", Cardinal O'connor presents a much simpler, yet as elegant collection of pastoral essays on the true meaning and practices of love and marriage. The books aims at the restoration of Divine Mystery in the avenue of life called "Covenant", which most of our contemporary society has ceased to believe in. A perfect blend of inspired Wisdom and everyday experiences- this is a must read for Christian of all vocations.

Anthology of Feminism, Technoscience and Reproduction
Sixteen essays make a contribution to "cyborg anthropology" and "cyborg feminism." Volume considers human reproduction through the lens of an interrogation of the cyborg metaphor, its power, pleasure, promise, and threat. Section one essays discuss medico-technological interventions in conception and contraception including production of "technosemen." Section two includes essays by Emily Martin, Rayna Rapp and others, examining gestation and the use of medical imaging (ultrasound) and screening (amniocentesis) technologies to produce "normal" and "healthy" fetuses. Section three essays consider technobirth, focusing on the medical monitoring and management of the mother's body. Section four considers childrearing in a digital culture, including essay by Sherry Turkle on cyborg babies in a culture of "simulation." Exceptional introduction by David-Floyd and Dumit provides historical/theoretical overview of cyborg metaphor as quintessential postmodern myth and tool.

Great for kids and adults
My neice and I read this a-page-at-a-time while on vacation. Now I'm buying it for her birthday. We enjoyed a daily chuckle and an occasional laugh out loud as we considered the musings of these insightful children. I have three babies of my own and my niece is a pre-med pediatric student. She and I identified with these letters and we wondered how God might answer. Our favorite: "Dear God; Maybe people in this world wouldn't kill each other so much if they had their own rooms. It works for my brother and me." If you have children under 10 and woder just what is going on in their busy minds, you HAVE to have a copy of this. If you don't have children and enjoy hearing the voice of innocence, you'll like this book too.

Has it all !
This is definitely THE book on centering prayer that I wish that I'd read first - rather than any of the approximately seven others. Compared to so many other books, on this topic, it provides a surprising amount of needed "how to" basics.
At the same time it is a short book, written in a light and easily flowing sort of style and tone.
While it is the book that I wish that I'd read first it also is a book that I'll repeatedly come back to - rereading portions of it that are particularly meaningful, to me. It really "says" a lot of the sort of thing that makes a person pause and think and reflect, and thus put somewhere inside onself where it can later, at the appropriate time, be brought to daily life experience.

Divine Inspiration: From Benin to Bahia

A book with moving photographs and interesting essays.
Divine Inspiration is an unusual coffee table book because the pictures do tell a thousand words, and because the text is helpful and interesting, not just filler. It is a good, respectful introduction to the Yoruba religion and its many offspring in the Americas.

five for sorrow ten for joy (consideration for the rosary)
This book is unusual. It was written by a Protestant minister from England and he said that the rosary should be recited by all Christians and not only by Catholic Christians. Protestants do not say the rosary. The rosary is and always been a R. Catholic devotion....... in honor of the Mother of God.
