Unveiling the torture within the soul of an adolescent girl.
Grace, sixteen-years-old, lives within the tyranny of her emotions, mind, and environment. She develops a severe depression after the death of her father, which later blooms into Schizoaffective Disorder from outer sources. She also carries a deep fear of the 'Surely People', a group of hoodlums who cluster in her neighborhood that are cruel, degrading and evil. Finally, it also defines the bond between her and Luke, an antisocial patient labled as psychopathic. Together, they struggle through trying to release themselves from their internal hell, while also realizing that although they are hospitalized, they are as normal as the outside world.

High-strung, remarkable, engrossing and tender, "I Can Hear the Mourning Dove" reflects the true self barricaded within every person. It is a bipolar item, for many of its subjects are abstract and powerful. It clearly pulls you into the suffering of the main character from the first sentence, and never lets go, even after it has been read through. It is my favorite novel, and will always be remembered.

Beautiful story
I Can Hear The Mourning Doves is one of the books that you start reading and you just can't put down until you have finished reading it. It is the story of a young girl who struggles to survive after her recent suicide attempt. Grace is put in the mental hospital, where she meets a boy named Luke. Luke is the type of person Grace fears. Luke is dangerous, rough, and he has no respect for anyone or anything. However, he is the only one who is able to connect with Grace, and he is the only one who can help her. I highly recommend this book.

Really great book
I read this book in 8th grade and I've been trying to find it again ever since...and i'm in my twenties. This is one of those books that you'll never forget. Even though its description sounds depressing, its actually a really great and funny book.

Angelic Revelations of Divine Truth, Volume I

Jesus and the Celestials give us the True Gospel
This is truly 'the book' for the New Millenium. If you ever wondered what is the nature of God, what 'the soul' really is, if there will be a second coming of Jesus on earth, what were the actual events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus (the account of the events of Easter are like nothing I'd ever imagined) ,and more, much more...this 'is 'the book for you. I had been a biblical scholar for over thirty years when I was fortunate to stumble across this wonderfully powerful and most believable book. The contents, even if they are read as fiction, will astonish most readers. I feel I have been given a real account of the Gospels by those who were actually there. This book offers no shortage of attempts to correct the many errors and interpolations of the Gospels as well; something most open-minded biblical scholars will embrace. As an ordained Christian minister,I cannot give a higher recommendation...read this book!

Incredible & wonderful - it will change your life
I thank my lucky stars every day that this book (& volume II) came into my life. As a very dubious & cynical atheist, I approached these books with considerable skepticism... and to my utter amazement, found that they contain the Truth. My life is entirely transformed & I've seen others' lives transformed also, thanks to the Truths contained in "The Angelics".

Do yourself a favour, read this book... God's Divine Love is waiting for you & this book tells you how to receive it.

The most important, life-altering book I've ever read
Quite simply, this is the single most important, life-altering book I've ever read or will read. The messages ring with truth, beauty and authority. For all those seeking the Truth, this book should be read, reread and treasured. In it can be found "the pearl of great price."

French Aircraft of the First World War

XXL book
This is XXL book not only in its size and weight, but mostly for the contents. I wish I had similar on other air services of Great War. No doubt is worth the money paid...because it accumulates huge amount of systematic information which helps in orientation among sometimes confusing mess of names and abbreviations of French air service. All planes (even prototypes and concepts) have at last one photograph. For example Nieuports are covered on 70 large pages, SPADs on 50 - monographs of its own. Taking in account the difficulties caused by destroying many of original sources it must take years for the team to produce it.

superb aircarft reference work
This is without a doubt the finest study of French military aircraft during World War One to be published, and will become a classic reference. It presents a very detailed organizational account of the units of the French Air Service, and then a complete detailed account of over 400 aircraft types hat were flown. More than 900 photos, over 180 three-view drawings in 1/72 and 1/144 scales, 25 pages of color art work by Alan Durkota of 56 different aircraft. 1997, new hard bound, color laminated cover, 9 x 12, glossy page stock, 618 pp. FLYING MACHINES PRESS series

An Inspiring Testimony
This is truly an honest and inspiring testimony of amother's experience with prenatal diagnosis and termination. Itchallenges the notion that God would never guide a woman to choosetermination when a genetic anomaly is prenatally diagnosed. Mrs. Lyon is open about how she struggled with guilt and depression, but has now found a healthy way to cope with her pain. It should be read by any Christian person put in this position who is struggling with a life-changing decision.

God is looking for you
Believing in God and growing in faith are not once in a lifetime activities. Rather, belief in God and faith are something that grow and change over time. James Martin, editor of How Can I Find God? offers the reader many opportunities to reflect on who God is and how God can be found in life. Most of the people included in the book are from the Judeo Christian tradition, and most are Roman Catholic, which is logical since the publisher is a Catholic publishing house. Some of the people included are theologians, but others are writers, activists, political leaders, parish priests, and simply ordinary people--all trying to find God in life. Each entry gives the reader the sense that finding God is both a journey and a task, and no entry claims to have the correct answer. Readers can get a sense that as we search for God, we are not alone. Others have the same questions and concerns as we do. For this reason the stories are very helpful.

The book is a great selection for a religious reading group. People who are in a preaching or teaching ministry will also find the book helpful. This book would probably not be helpful for people trying to prove God's existence, but it is very helpful to show that even if we do not always feel God's presence, God is in fact real and very much at work in our world.

Great survey of thinkers and believers on the search for God
I love books that make me feel good (with no moralizing). Contributors are rightfully humble in addressing the ultimate question. Good to hear the spirit alive in people of varying faiths. I passed it on to my mom and my friends, who loved it.

A truly outstanding group of interviews.
What an excellent job the editor has done in terms of bringing together the thoughts of philosophers, clerics, farmers, and even a jailed, cocaine-addicted young man all with their own story to tell and their most intimate thoughts to share. Mr. Martin's well-conceived cross-section of some 60-plus respondees to "the quintessential question" deserves special mention. I can recommend this little treasure highly.

about CV Glines author
I had the great pleasure of meeting Gen. Doolittle in 1985 at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas Texas at the dinner in honor of him sponsored by George Haddaway. Years later I got to know CV Glines and see him regularly now.

This is the most thorough biography I have seen on Gen. Doolittle and CV worked closely with the General and later his family. The book answered one of my lingering questions about "The Raid on Tokyo": Was the Hornet spotted AND reported by the picket boat that they sank? The answer came when an outbound flying boat passed underneath the B-25s as they approached Tokyo.

I am not looking forward to the portrayal of Gen. Doolittle by Alec Baldwin in the new Disney Movie "Pearl Harbor". I have a sense of dread and foreboding about what Disney may do to the facts

Enlightening
I found this book to be two things. First, it was a wonderful overview of US air history delivered by an indisputable authority on the subject. Second, I learned a lot about a true American hero, both in achievement and personal life. How refreshing to discover a humble, brilliant, down-to-earth individual who made such a positive impact on our country! The book was well written and easy to read. In some places it threatened to be tedious, but nothing serious (hence the 5 star recommendation).

The life story of the outstanding aviator of the century
It was the privilege of a lifetime to be asked to assist General Jimmy Doolittle in writing his life story. He had said for years that he thought an autobiography would appear to be too self-serving but his family didn't agree. I had written a biography of Jimmy and three books about his famous raid on Japan during WW II so they thought I could do the job. The title comes from his answer to a question about whether he would like to live his life over again. His answer: "No. I could never be so lucky again." I would like to hear from anyone who reads this book. Jimmy died in 1993 and will be eligible to have a commemorative stamp issued in 2003. If you agree that a stamp should be issued, I would appreciate your input which I will use to justify one.

I Wish...
This is the story of a little cricket who comes to realize his true beauty after being helped by a wise old spider. The little cricket lives in Swampswallow Pond where most of the other crickets are happy spending their days fiddling. This little cricket is not happy. He has been told by the frog at the edge of the pond that he is ugly. He envies all the other creatures that live in Swampswallow Pond. The cricket questions several of the creatures about his beauty, but it isn't until he comes upon the wise old spider that he is able to find his own beauty. Follow Up: Ask students what they think about the story. Students will brainstorm ideas about wishes. Students can write about their own wishes and dreams.Make a class book. Students will write about some things they like about themselves. Draw a different student's name each day and have everyone write the student a letter telling them what they like about that person. Perform this story as a reader's theater.

Wonderful and inspiring!!
I am a senior in high school, and our English teacher shared this story with us, and had us to look for a deeper meaning. It is wonderful and inspiring. I want a copy so I can share it with my children one of these days.

Another take on the Merlin legend
After the Romans abandon Britannia, the queen of the fairy world, Mab, is determined to bring the Britons back to worship her and the rest of the old gods. She first tries through King Vortigern, but, failing there, creates Merlin. Part human, part fairy, Merlin learns to walk a road between the old ways and the new, angering Mab. She turns on him, only to find his human side gives him powers the fairy queen never expected.

This is a good read. Compared to Mary Stewart's Merlin series, it's a little lightweight, but a really nice and off-beat look at Merlin.

It's a keeper in my library. So's the movie...

The mini series adaptation and whole lot more!
If you loved (or even just liked) the Merlin TV miniseries, and also if you love Arthurian tales, this won't dissapont you. Granted, the tales is told in a lighthearted manner with many liberties taken with the legend of Merlin but that's what makes reading Arthurian tales interesting, each author brings his own spin on the story. What really makes this book worth reading is the wealth of background information regarding Merlin's life. Many scenes in the book are not shown in the Miniseries and that gives the story a wider scope. Parts like Merlin's magical training and his encounters with Idath and Herne the Hunter as well as a further exploration of the mystery of the Grail.

It's the best book i have ever read!
This is truly a fantastic book worth reading...I admit it's pretty thick, but don't let that scare you off..once you start reading, you won't be able to put it down! If anyone knows where you can find 'Merlin : The King's Wizard' and the third book ( I don't know what it's called ) please e-mail me at hsinginez@hotmail.com! Like I've already said, a terrific book looking back at the magical times. After you read this, you'll believe that a magical time really did exist!

As a professional singer, I greatly enjoyed the chapter on arranging. What a unique concept for a book.

Review
What sets this book apart from the rest is its motivational style. When I Sit Down to Play not only gives you the tools to learn how to play the piano, but it convinces you that you can do it.

Great info!
This book packed so much information into 166 pages. It was great - concisely written.

Fun for the lay "historian"
Ever wonder where the stuff you think of as everything came from? James & Thorpe have used a good range of experts and a fair amount of book reading to help them create an entertaining look at where ideas, activities, and objects come from. In 12 categories ranging from medicine to sex to sports, they look at 102 subcategories. The general introduction to the book explains why they've tackled this topic and each chapter has its own introduction that explains the categories and the reasons for including each subcategory. I wouldn't go as far as to call it "academic" or "scholarly" but its nice to see someone popularizing the periods of human history I love in a way that I can support.

Fun book on the history of "things"
This was an entertaining volume on the history of some of the things we think of as "modern" inventions. Many of them were already known to me from other sources, where I came across them in preparing for my MA in history. Inventions like "Greek fire" the first flame thrower, the "Bagdad battery" a possible device for electroplating, and the early trepinning surgeries are some of those familiar to me. More surprising was the cataract surgery and plastic surgery to repair nose and ears practiced by the Romans and probably invented even earlier in India or Babylon. This is a great book for anyone who wonders "Who was the first to..."

Excellent reference and fun to read
This book is describes ancient inventions and construction projects predating 1492. It is well researched, documented, and illustrated.

There is an assumption with some that earlier humans were rustic simpletons. This book dispels that notion. It describes everything from the mundane (wine, cosmetics), to the grandiose (an early Suez Canal), to the dangerous (trepanning, i.e. drilling holes in one's head as an early form of surgery), to the practical (mills, weapons, paper). One of the strangest discoveries is of a cave that is made to resemble hell.

In addition to the expected inventions from Egypt, Greece, and Rome inventions from all over the world are represented including ones from South America, China, and ancient Scythia the area where modern Ukraine is found. Inventions from that area include the earliest form of shelter (mammoth bone huts), domestication of horses, the earliest melodic musical instruments (flutes), maps, trousers, jewelry, ovens, houses, soap, and saunas (in which hashish was thrown on hot stones).

This is a feel-good book. It documents the creativity and imagination of humans.

Looked forward to every page
The first thing I noticed while reading this book was that there were no lulls in the action. It seems that every part of Jesse's short life was exciting. The author at times makes Jesse out to be almost a saint, but it doesn't interfere with quality of the information that he has provided.

This is one of the very best books on Jesse James.
I found this book in Arizona, of all places. It's one of those books that is hard to put down once you start reading it. I have read alot of books about Jesse James but this is one of the very best. I highly recommend it.

Fascinating novel from a James family member's perspective.
Interesting perspective from a family descendant of one of the most enduring western myths. This treatment recounts family legend and an inside psychological look of a mythical legend who actually existed, not only, as a western hero, but also as a , father, grandfather and great grandfather. Interesting insights on Jesse's fear of death and acceptance of his inevitable fate, his constant search for vindication for his actions as a noble cause, and his incongruous beliefs of love of family and revenge.
