An excellent book for the beginner investor.
This well written book gives the beginner investor the information needed to understand investing in stocks.

The book goes through setting your goals, assesing your risks and rewards. It teaches you about common and preferred stocks and the basics of buying and selling stocks.

There is a chapter on different investment strategies and then the book takes you into fundamental and technical analysis of a stock.

Finally the book touches on mutual funds, rights, warrants, and options.

All in all this is an excellent book and is one that any beginner investor will learn a lot from.

Good book for starters.
This is an excellent book for any one who wants to know about stock market terms and how it works. Chapters on Mutual Funds, Options, Rights.. are also very informative. A must read for anyone before starting to invest in stocks. Worth for the money.

Textbook
This book is written well enough to be used in a college course on the stock market. I cant say its helped me make money in the market with all the problems that have come about recently. This book will teach you enough about the technical side of stock trading, but not about managing a portfolio of stocks and mutual funds.

Absolutely delicious recipes using easy-to-find ingredients.
My kitchen shelves are full of recipe books claiming delicious recipes for low-fat cooking. Many have ingredients only a gourmet cook would have or ingredients found only in organic food stores or specialty shops, neither of which is located within 60 miles of my home. Don's recipes are absolutely delicious and easy to prepare using readily available ingredients. All recipes I have prepared could be served to any guests without fear they "taste" low fat (in other words tasteless). Many authors use similar ingredients over and over and their recipes began to taste the same--not Don's, all have a unique taste. I can hardly wait for another cookbook from Don Mauer--I'll be one of his first customers.

Great Tasting Recipes
I got your book and I love it. My husband is not use to eating alot of low-fat foods but he loves it also. The recipes are so easy to make and alot of people can't tell that it is low-fat. I wish he would make another book with even more recipes. Thanks for making the book we really enjoy it.

outstanding
This book and Don Mauer's other book (Guy's Guide to Great Eating) have helped me lose over 70 pounds. As other reviewers have stated, the recipes are both easy and flavorful, but I think the best thing about the recipes in this book is that they are so satisfying that you don't think about the fact that they are low fat as you are eating them. This cookbook is going to be a big part of my weight maintenance plan!

California Boomer: Keeper of the Story

A GIFT OF GRACE AND DIGNITY
-California Boomer: Keeper of the Story- was both a joy and trial to read. A joy because it touched me so deeply and showed me how important life truly is. A trial to read because it hits at the marrow of personal emotions; sometimes difficult to look in the mirror! This book is a gift of grace and dignity in its positive outlook, concerned nature, and ability to express at times conflictual themes in a profoundly honest way. "Boomer's" self exposure can, and no doubt will, make some feel very uncomfortable. If you've been hiding out in life this book will just scare the hell out of you. If you have a tidy, well tended emotional life you will be challenged by this book. Easy to read short stories that confirmed one thing for me, "never give up on life!" The author is unique, not easy to define, and just when you think you've figured him out BAM up comes something else. This book is worth your time and money.

POWERFUL AMERICAN STORIES
Totally enjoyed Boomer. It is hard to define a book with so many important parts, so many insights. You can't but be touched by this author's journey through life. Boomer is a collection of stories about the author and the many people of his life. This book is striking in both its softness and then hard hitting, gut wrenching experiences. The book at times seems almost odd for its inclusiveness and acceptance of at times seemingly different insights and life positions. But it all comes together and we are left with a profound message of Life, Love, and Hope. This is more than a California story, it is a story of the human condition; good, bad and inspiring. I believe that Mr.Noyes-More has written a book for us all. Boomer is a book of courage and honesty well worth the time and money.

"TALES OF THE CITY" BUT WITH GUTS
As a media person I found "Boomer" an exceptional work. The book offers a tour de force of the California Boomer years with deeply etched personalities, emotional environments, and political-social life. This book is personal and yet cuts through many topics and insights. Any one story stands on its own, but all the stories together provide exceptional reading. Being in Hollywood media I was interested in the stories about Hollywood personalities, some mentioned by name others renamed (but I knew who the author was writing about). Yet the entire work has given me great pause, reflection and a thankfulness for the author's message. Boomer is a good read.

A classic in Civil War Literature
This Book is not only regiments history and a lott of beautiful accurate illustrated uniforms, is history alive. The only thing this book lack off is sound but thanks to the hands of Don Troiani the paintings are so full of live you can hear it in the back of your mind. Art by Don Troiani, text by Brian C. Pohanka. This book presents in a beautiful landscape format his unique view of the war and the men who fought it. Each painting is accompanied by an extensive background text by noted historian Brian Pohanka The good thing about this book is that if you consider yourself a Civil War historian or reenactorss a just a fan beginning to study the civil war, you won't find the typical error of other authors, this would help you enjoy the painting one by one so you can understand better who and how was this War fought. One last thing DO NOT PUT THIS BOOK ON YOUR COFFEE TABLE people fall in love with this book so fast that they can even stole from you, believe me this is the third time I buy this book. If you enjoy this book you would love Don Troiani's Soldiers In America, 1754 - 1865.

Fantastic paintings, and eloquent text!
If there is one art book that should be in every Civil War buff's library, this is the one! It's a beautifully done and wonderfully written chronology of the war, as seen through the eyes of artist Don Troiani. These impeccably researched and incredibly detailed paintings make one feel they are witnessing the actual events! The text by noted Civil War historian Brian Pohanka is a perfect compliment to Troiani's artwork; it is both informative and moving at the same time. Highly recommended!

Wonderful art work from America's best Civil War artist!
This a a wonderful presentation of Don Troiani's art. The added bonus here is text written by Brian Pohanka. As a Civil War and an art enthusiast, I have seen no finer book. The research Mr. Troiani goes through to ensure the accuracy of his paintings is impressive. I find that this an invaluable source for "what it was really like" during the depicted events in the Civil War.

Speaking & Listening from the Heart
Kelly Bryson uses humor and fun "plays on words" to teach us how learning to communicate compassionately brings us more love, empathy, intimacy, and overall enjoyment of life.

This book is a fun read and also caused me to revisit past interactions, and see that by taking this new approach at communication, the end result can be both me and the other people are happy and get our needs met.

I highly recommend this book!

I was tired of being one of the 'nice dead people'
"I was tired of being one of the 'nice dead people' in the world, so the title of this book spoke to me. I was totally skeptical that it could really help. But after reading it I really was inspired to start "dancing in rhythm to the beat of my own soul, and learning how to enjoy it when people freak out about it." (A quote from the book.) It really has become my guide from depressed "doormat" through
overly "obnoxious" aggressiveness to an evolved, enlightened, more empathic assertiveness. Kelly's real life stories, hilarious humor and refreshing theories teach the mechanics of integrity and loyalty with oneself. It is convincing me of the self defeating dynamics behind self sacrifice. Plus the pratical principles and tools of Nonviolent Communication are helping me with my only relationship issue - "Self Abandonment!"

It is fun to be true to oneself instead of just being nice
I thought it was fun finding out what relief it is to follow up ones own needs instead of being "nice" to others. Great book, I highly enjoyed reading it.

It worked for me!
My 10 year old sister was given this book as a gift. I'm pretty good at history, so I thought learning all the presidents in order would be really cool. I read the book for 20 or 30 minutes, took the quizes, and by the time I was done I could name all the presidents in order, and backwords. The book also gives you clues to help remember the 5,10,15,20,25,30,35, and 40th presidents.

Within 30 minutes, I knew all the U.S. Presidents by heart
Wonderful, silly book which will teach you the U.S. Presidents, in order, in 30 minutes. The book has a story which incorporates word associations for every president as well as some quizzes to help you memorize them. Also, has a short biography on every president. Great book for all ages.

It really works!
When I picked up this book and saw that it claimed to enable anyone to memorize the Presidents in 20 minutes, I said, "Yeah, right." But I gave it a try and it works! I really did learn the Presidents in 20 minutes (not any less). It works by means of cartoons and key words that are similar to the President's name and connect the cartoons to that President (ex: money rowing for Monroe). The cartoons are funny and all link together. This is a great book; you should try it.

Positive Advice
"Don't Retire Rewire" is a positive approach to changing stream mid career. Sedlar and Miners are well qualified to write this book after working with literally 100's of men and women who have found themselves in a new situation, either an early unplanned retirement or job transision.

Their positive approach is a breath of fresh air....sure to give the reader lots of advice you can put right to work.

Finally, Some Hands-On Advice for ex-CEO's
I'm 48 and a former CEO of a large real estate information company based in New Jersey. Last year I voluntarily gave up my CEO title -- and all of its day-to-day responsibilities -- and assumed the role of Chairman. I did NOT realize what a huge role difference this would be and the impact it would have on me. Stripped of a large part of my "power base" I felt cut adrift, unfocused, at times even desperate.

Don't Retire, REWIRE has been a beacon of light for me, providing a clear framework for mapping out the second half of my life. This is material that I've been searching a long time for, a book that helped shift my thinking from income statements and balance sheets to life's core benchmarks -- those soulful areas such as following my passions, developing my skills, and pursuing my dreams.

The most valuable part of the book for me lay in the case studies of how real people faced the challenge of life's transitions. It sparked dozens of ideas which I narrowed down to one very fulfilling direction that I'm exploring now.

Read REWIRE -- but then USE it and FOLLOW it. It could be life-changing for you, too.

It Makes You Think!
I have been looking for a book to guide me and my husband thru the process of retirement, which will shortly be upon us. Don't Retire, Rewire! is a great guide with a lot of thought provoking questions. We both read the book and sat down and to talk about what we learned. We came to the conclusion independently that we want to continue to work in some fashion. Without this book, I don't think we would have the confidence we need to chart our new course. Sedlar & Miners have a unique perspective on planning and executing a retirement plan. I have bought a copy of the book for my sister and brother. It should be on every pre retirees required reading list. It is a great resource of information as well. Reading it saved us a lot of stress and needless worry.

The American Drive-In Movie Theatre

Authors: Don Sanders, Susan Sanders, and Donald A. Sanders
Amazon base price: $29.95

Interesting Info
Being a huge fan of drive-ins, I really looked forward to reading this book. The only criticism I have is the sequence of the actual chapter text of the book, and the information inserts that the author has throughout. It is very "chopped" up. Reading the chapter, then turning the page to find there is information pertaining to something else on the next page. The chapter text starts a couple of pages later in some cases, breaking up the continuity. Other than this, it makes for a very interesting read for those who enjoy nostalgia and want to be transported back to a more simpler and fun time.

A "must-have" book for all nostalgic baby-boomers!
Surprisingly little has been published on this colorful little slice of vanishing Americana. The Sanders' book is richly illustrated and well organized, letting the pictures drive the story. Buffs may seek a bit more statistical information, but there are sidebars aplenty and I daresay that all but the most sophisticated enthusiast will learn something new about this wonderful institution. I cannot wait to see what the Sanders' plan for an encore!

I Loved It!
This book made me love drive-ins even more! The photos tell a wonderful story, as does the lively text. It will make you remember a better time.

A MUST READ for anyone interested in prostrate cancer.
This is an excellent first hand description of how one individual faced the challange of being diagnosed with prostrate cancer. As a recent prostrate cancer survivor, I can personally relate to the "human" aspect of this challenge.

The author goes into the issues of fear, loneliness, denial, outrage and all other emotions most people experience after being diagnosed with cancer. Of particular signifance is the way he openly deals with the reluctance many men have in facing prostrate disorders because of the sexual ramifications of treatment options.

African American men get prostrate cancer more than any other ethnic group and they have the highest death rates. This book can be especially usefull to African American men as the author is both African American and a minister.

If you are a male forty or over or a female who has the interest of a male in this category...... you can benefit tremendously by reading this very personal account of how one person dealt with this growing problem.

It's About Time!!
After reading just a few chapters of this thought-provoking and emotionally charged book, I mused to myself: "...it's about time that someone captured their experience in such a fashion that the average person could understand and relate to their message."

Thomas Walker's book reinforces the message that a diagnosis of cancer is devastating news; yet, with adjustments in mental attitudes and the support of loved ones, it is a challenge that can be understood and overcome.

Walker also maintains a delicate balance between medical and layman's language, which is a definite plus. This is even more meaningful because it is coming from a person who has "been there..."

Kudos to Walker for his courage, his commitment and his stamina in completing his project. I definitely look forward to reading a sequel to this amazing story, and I hope that one is in the works. It is definitely a "must-read."

Excellent resource for anyone confronted with this dilemma!
Rev. Walker has captured a very emotional experience in a concise and readable manner. He takes the reader on an unforgettable journey of anxiety; confusion; doubt; revelation; indecision and the whole gamut of emotional dysfunction that accompanies being diagnosed with cancer.

As a layman, he has a knack for asking the right questions and taking technical terms and turning them into plain, everyday language.

This book should be read by all men (and their families) who are confronted with a diagnosis or who are symptomatic of prostate cancer. It is sincerely hoped that Rev. Walker will remain cured, for his experience in this paperback is worthy of a sequel...

Soldier X Review
Soldier X by Don Wulffson is a suspenseful book about World War II and the different countries involved in the war. Erik Brandt, the main character, is also called X. Wulffson writes a great story about courage and bravery when Brandt is forced into the Nazi army and is later put into Russian hands.
When Russians invade the German camp, Brandt becomes stuck under a tank with a dead Russian soldier. Brandt speaks Russian fluently, because of his family background, and soon becomes this Russian soldier so no one recognizes him as the enemy. In the hospital Brandt is being taken cared of, he receives his nickname, X, from a man in the bed next to him. Over the weeks X meets new people and really becomes a Russian. When the hospital is bombed, both X and Tamara, a lovely nurse X is in love with, must flee for their lives.
Wulffson does an excellent job explaining the hardships they go through together. By reading this book, not only do you learn about things you might not have known about World War II, but you also learn some of the German and Russian languages. I believe this book may be a little too depressing or descriptive for some, but otherwise I found it to be a very interesting book, full of new facts and trivia.
I think this book is directed towards a more mature audience because of the topics discussed. This was another superb book by Don Wulffson who has already won the Distinguished Achievement Award for his educational writing. Soldier X is a historical fiction book that parallels many German soldiers during World War II on the Eastern Front.
In this serious but suspenseful and even entertaining novel we can learn more about the hardships of World War II.

Soldier X
Imagine bullets flying past your head, machine gun shells hitting the ground, land mines going off at every second.
Erik Brandt, a young boy, half Russian and half German, trapped behind enemy lines wearing dead mans clothes, has experienced all thses things in the action packed book Soldier X by Don Wulffson.
Erik Brandt is fighting for Germany and he is on an old rusty train to go to World War Two. While on the train Erik hears high level bombers deep in the dust. The other soldiers on the train call him X when the train came to a stop and X jumped out. He was under heavy fire, later on after the battle X switches clothes with an enemy soldier, X is now trapped behind enemy lines. Can X get back alive?
This realistic-fiction novel, Soldier X, is an action packed war book full of excitment, for example one part in the book when X gets attacked by tanks and other enemy soldiers. X has nothing to do except throw grenades at tanks and shoot his rifle. The book has a lot of different and dangerous situations.
I liked this book a lot because it had action and a little suspense because you don't know if X is going to live or die. Its a really good book and it is not boring.
Soldier X is a great book, If you love action and a dash of suspence and a touch of mystery then Soldier X by Dont Wulffson is the book for you!-- By Matt

Worth the Money, and a book also for adults
This is another good book which I read recently. It is stated as a children's book for those aged 9-12. Indeed, the book was written in such a way which is easily comprehensible. However, I do not think that a 9 or 12 year old kid would understand the horror of war itself or the feelings of losing their friends and parents during a war unless they are very smart or they live in war-torn countries like Afghanistan. Their great grandparents would definitely do. The book also contains some passages which are very bloody and brutal for kids to read.
I strongly believe that the book should not be treated as a kid's book. If the author is right in his claim that "the story is not only true, but also loosely parallels the experience of an estimated thirty thousand German soldiers during World War II on the Eastern Front", which I have no reason to believe otherwise, this book should be treated as a war memoir of a former Hitler Youth member whose name is "Soldier X" and not as a mere fiction.
