tea time
I absolutely was intrigued by this book, read while sipping a cup of tea. My favorite teas are Republic of Tea, I'd recommend those as well! I liked learning about "TGBOP", Oolong teas, how to brew teas, teas from different countries, etc. I am by no means a tea snob, just a tea lover. This book is great for tea drinkers of any kind.

A Quick and Easy (and Fun) Guide!
A good book for the beginner, a nice and easy read for everyone interested in tea. The authors accomplish to talk about tea (origins, history, manufacture, types, how to purchase, taste, brew, etc.), to deal with "controversial" topics such as the use of teabags, and to communicate their personal tastes and views, without drifting off into snobism.

All in all, an enjoyable read written by people with obvious love for tea.

Perfect for the Tea Beginner
This book impressed me. It is easy to read, has a personal feel, and covers all of the basics (what tea is, history, where it is produced, how to brew it, tea tasting, tea ceremonies, etc). Many resources are listed in the back. I have five books on tea so far (a beginner), and this is my favorite. If you only want one book on tea, this is my recommendation. The health section is pretty basic, so if that interests you, you might want to also look at a health-related tea book (green tea). This book describes the general regions, whereas the Tea Companion book describes the individual tea gardens (which may or may not be useful to you.)

It's a wonderful book that the child participates in!
My daughter and I love this book. The pull out figures give her a way to contribute to our quiet time. I took the figures to an office supply store and had them laminated so they'll remain in good condition...and they have! A wonderful contribution to any child's library!

My 2-year-old's favorite book
The perfect just-before-tucking-in book! My daughter loves it and asks for it every night. She carefully tucks each animal into the appropriate bed--and even chides Tiger for having too much cake at the birthday party. The only problem is keeping track of all the little paper cut-outs! I even thought of making a back up set on the color copier and having them laminated...but I'm not Martha Stewart.

A Great Bedtime Preparation Story for Toddlers
This is a very nice story about friends falling asleep and tucking them into bed. My child enjoys tuckng each of the sleepy friends into the beds provided on each page and wishing each one a "Goodnight". When the story is over each of her friends are tucked in, and she is ready mentally to join them in going Goodnight! Each page ends with the same text "Let's tuck them into bed. Goodnight, [animal]." So the child begins to read along with you. I have a two year old, and she obviously does not read, but she expects that each animal will be tucked in and bid goodnight. Then it's her turn--and she goes without fuss!

A neat book that any kid will enjoy
I saw this book shop worn in a book store and found it in mint condition on Amazon where I purchased it for my son who is 4 yrs old. He really enjoys this book and wants to know about everything on the page. A really neat book that should be put back in print again. I don't remember such neat pop-out books as a kid and this one takes top prize for me. If you can find it used your child will enjoy it.

GREAT BOOK!
My child and I spent many nights and days discovering new and exciting things in this COLORFUL book!

Your child is LOVE this creepy book!

The Ultimate Bug Book - With Full-Color Pop-Ups
This is an incredibly informative book. My 5 year old son loves it so much that we are ordering it again. Our first one is very dog-eared. The illustrations are superb and the pop-ups really bring the world of insects up close and make it easy to understand. We have spent many wonderful hours reading this book together and, as a result, my son now knows a great deal about bugs and their habits. It is a very hands on book and shows children amazing facts. The cricket noise, scratch and sniff stink bug page, and the huge pop-up moth are our favorites. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a child who is interested in learning about bugs. It is sure to bring them many happy memories.

Fabulous Book for an unfortunate topic
When my husband was diagnosed with cancer our children were 5 and 7 years old. This book gave us the tools to use to talk to them about cancer. Illness, chemotherapy and even death were topics that we suddenly had to confront. Dr. Harpham's book provided insight in dealing with a frigtening topic in a calm and reasuring manner.

When a parent has cancer:
This is an excellent guide for being a parent, not just a parent with cancer. You can tell that Dr. Harpham has put enormous energy into making sure her children are affected as little as possible by her illness. Our children would be so lucky if they were not affected by our bad days, our obcessions, or our tainted view of reality. There are a lot of feel good about being a parent books out there. This is an excellent practical guide.

This is a stunning book written by a survivor
Based on her own experiences with cancer, Harpham offers insightful, compassionate and sound advice to parents. Most books on this subject talk about how to break the news to children and deal with their initial reaction. This book goes beyond that, dealing with the issues that arise during the long months of treatment. Becky and the Worry Cup is a wonderful companion piece that will comfort children of all ages

All youth should have this book
This book provides the reader with stories of real young people who are making positive change and then gives you the tools to help you too. as a teen in america, i often feel that society just thinks we're evil. wendy lesko's book reaffirms what i guess i knew inside- that we can be leaders of Today... everyone should read, and re-read this book.

one of the best books i've ever read
This book provides everyone, from the uninvolved individual, to the adult ally, to the veteran youth activist, with something. This is an empowering book, both fun to read, plus loaded with information tools. I turn to this book frequently, it helps me with work, and it is a great gift for anyone!.

The book has been co-authored by a youth-
When I see a book about student activism and getting involved, I first check to see who wrote it. This book was co-authored by a youth-- that's what makes it special. I don't see how an adult can write, on their own, about being a student activist. Wendy Lesko walks her talk and put a great resource together.

Hands down the best resource for Law School information
If you're applying to law school (or are thinking about it), and you only get one book to research American Law Schools, get this one--trust me. You get four pages on every ABA approved law school (which are, really, the only schools one should be concerned with--with very few exceptions). Two pages of stats listing nearly all of the valuable information that you want to know, and also lots of information that you should know (but might not realize). Also two pages where the law school writes about itself. This book's information is probably more accurate, complete, and up to date than that in other publications (nearly all of which I've all read). The LSAC gives you the stats (so they are directly from the authority), and the law schools give you their spiel (which may be good and bad). Check it out. NOTE: Make sure you get the most current edition, they print a new one every year.

The cover says it all
The cover says it all. This book gives the pertinent facts on all of the ABA approved schools. It also gives a brief summary of law school and the field of law. It does not rank the schools in an arbitrary matter. It gives you the data so you can rank them yourself.

The other Soto master
This is a great book! When most people think of Japanese masters who brought Soto Zen to the US they think of S. Suzuki, but I feel this book is way better than Maezumi's San Francisco counterpart's Zen Mind Beginer's Mind. Appreciate Your Life is far better at getting to the heart of Zen.

excellent
A refreshing, personal approach to zen buddhism, after the (on purpose) mind numbing of the Blue Cliff Record or the Gateless Gate. Often very inspiring. Right up there with Shunryu Suzuki and all the other more colorful modern Japanese lineage. We who think we are lost, feel more found, after this finger.

great book
This is a great, comprehensive painting guide for anyone who is interested in getting into oil, acrylics or watercolor painting. It shows all the basics needed including the materials available and needed and it also shows (at least to me) some advanced techniques. Great for any beginner and maybe even intermediate painter. The only complaint I have to make is that I would have liked that the book covered other kinds of painting too, such as glass painting, but I guess it makes sence that they didn't really get into that since it seems to me that it is a classic kind ot painting school.

A huge resource for anyone painting anything!
I am very pleased with the work I have created using this book. I had a lot of questions about watercolor and oil painting. Most of the other books I purchased and studied left a lot of the beginner things out....like how to actually mix colors well. The format is wonderful as well, you can go from one exercise to the next a really get some techniques under your belt. The approach to demystifying the products needed for each media was fantastic. You are shown what each product is for and when you might use it. The instuctions in the book include clear step by step pictures...so you don't start feeling lost halfway through the exercise. The best part? There is no rigid rules, the dialogue is personal and encouraging. You flip through it and start itching to paint!

Arts and Crafts Exhibition
This paperback is a reprint edition of an important exhibition catalog that was originally issued in 1987. The exhibition, which was held at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and which bore the same title as this book, was comprised of 225 design-related artifacts (furniture, glass, silver, ceramics, textiles, wallpaper, books and architectural drawings) from the era in design and architectural history known as the American Arts and Crafts movement. The book is important because of the thoroughness with which it documents, interprets, and illustrates the moral, esthetic and social reforms that enabled the Arts and Crafts movement to flourish. Included in the 400-page volume are eight essays by various experts on the subject, who introduce more than 300 photographs (including 55 color plates) in discussing a wide range of topics, among them American Arts and Crafts Architecture, The Art of Work, The Role of the Schools, House and Home, and A More Reasonable Way to Dress. The text and illustrations provide ample evidence of the continuing influence of Arts and Crafts: "In altering attitudes toward the fabrication and use of objects," writes curator Wendy Kaplan, "it changed the fundamental perceptions regarding design, the home, and work." (Copyright by Roy R. Behrens from Ballast Quarterly Review, Vol. 15, No. 1, Autumn 1999.)

A well illustrated reference of American Arts & Crafts.
Wendy Kaplan has succeeded to capture in her book, "The Art that is Life," the broad scope of the movement. It is wonderful to see and read of the various elements that made up this rich period in American craftsmanship. From the aesthetics in architectural styles, to the furnishings within them, this book helps to put into perspective the far--reaching impact the movement had on the American consiousness. This well illustrated volume has been a handy reference to me as a collector of Arts & Crafts items, since its publication in 1987. Fortunately now it is available in paperback form as well.
