A must in the canon of Literature and Addiction Studies
The Invisible Enemy presents a cross section of American Writing and Writers dealing with alcoholism. From Cheever to carver to Tille Olsen, it talks of children of recovery and the language of drink. A great addendum to the understanding of why one writes the way they do. Needs to be reprinted. YES!

Good stories, one stand-out
I read this book when I was much younger, and I have a fuzzy memory of enjoying most of the stories. But the one story that I still remember clearly -- and that is worth the price of the entire book -- is "Reb Aharon in Search of a Miracle." Despite its rather cumbersome title, this story -- about a young Jewish boy blinded by a grenade in Jerusalem in 1910 -- is truly affecting.

Excellent selection from the Israeli Folklore Archive (IFA)
This wonderful selection of recorded oral folk tales gives a taste of the vast treasure trove in the Israeli Folklore Archive (IFA) collection. Until the multi-volume collection which Professor Dan Ben Amos is putting together for the Jewish Publication Society appears, this is the only IFA selection available in print in English, to my knowledge. (IFA founder Dov Noy published two selections, one for University of Chicago Press, the other -- also Moroccan stories -- for Herzl Press, both now out of print.

Objective Afrocentricity vs Biased Eurocentricity!
Any objecive, unbiased and well argued book on African civilizations or history deserves a 5 star for me: the reason being simple, there are not many of such books in the world! Ms Monges has presented both sides of the argument (an art of arguing) and has logically and objectively rejoindered some of the eurocentric views and arguments very well. I have read 3 other books on Africa and Kemet (Egypt) and all share to a great extent the same well argued, objective and afrocentric view as potrayed by Ms Monges. I have always asked myself what do european anthropologists or so-called egyptologists mean by: 'negroid', but not 'negro'; to rephrase, black but not black enough? Indeed I have found several of the their arguments very irrational, absurd and illogical. Indeed Ms Monges does well to deal with most of the misconceptions surrounding Kemet, Kush and Africa. She seeks partly to adduce evidence for the Blackness of Egypt by comparing it to other cultural practices in modern Africa. Something which she does very well! Jesus said: there is nothing that is hidden that will not be revealed. Thank You Ms Monges for you objective Afrocentricity!

Ideal para nuevas parejas (Great for new couples)

Wen My wife and I got married, we had no sexual experience. This book was very heplful, it allowed us to reade it together. It's strait foward lenguaje and pictures are unbeatabel.

The Best of Iowa
License to Cook Iowa Style, in the popular recipe-card file size Stocking Stuffer format, is chock-full of the best recipes and notes about the best of Iowa in the heart of the Midwest. The navy blue and white cover features the Iowa Sesquicentennial.

In tribute to the development and progress of 150 years, hardy, delicious recipes reflect natural products of the state as well as the diversity of its ethnic population and community lifestyles. Typical recipes from areas with notable concentrations of specific ethnic groups include: an Amish-Mennonite Tapioca Pudding, Czech Kolaches, a Danish Kringle, Norwegian Rye Bread, Dutch Currant Bread, and others.

Band night, church social, or just backyard ice cream recipes preserve a culture that still prevails in many Iowa communities. There are prize recipes for preserving the bounty of the backyard garden, including: pickles, chutneys, and jams and jellies. And with an air of "State Fair," recipes for meats and poultry abound, along with the breads, pies, cakes, and cookies.

"Seeing Iowa" lists many of the well-known, and not-so-well-known, places of interest to travel and see. Line drawings illustrating some of these attractions are found throughout the book, which presents a nostalgic flavor of the past along with the vitality of the present - for example, there is a section of recipes with the ease of preparation and serving tailored to suit the "Tailgator."

Excellent for personal collections and as a memento of Iowa.
