La Mujer En La Muralla
Published in Paperback by Planeta (January, 1990)
Author: Alberto Laiseca
Amazon base price: $10.50

Laiseca's best novel
An incredible work of investigation and imagination (not very clear where one finishes and the other starts), one of the best novels of all times. Funny, sexy, smart, poetic, historical, etc etc, it has everything really. If you live in Argentina it's very easy to find cause it has been reprinted lately; if not, you better move here and learn some spanish, I don't think it has been transllated. And then you might just happen to meet Lai in the flesh, he's very aproachable (and no, I'm not related to him at all)

Excelente

Excellent and concise review
This book is a wonderful introduction to the care of Latino clients. Different sections deal with the basics of the evaluation and then the book moves on to different groups of Latinos in the U.S. Highly recommended!

Unsure about poetry?
These story-like poems poems are accessible to the uninitiated. "Mason Jars by the Window" last line is devastating.

The Lives of the Gods- Surrealism via the Short Story
This brazen collection of joyfully sinister short stories is appropriate to the melancholy, brooding atmosphere that is associated with the paintings of the author's brother, Giorgio de Chirico. Alberto Savionio (aka, Andrea de Chirico) was a master of lurid description. His prose triumphs over the mundanity of daily existance while simultaneously shoving in the reader's face the bleak and formless features of existential truth. All this in a highly entertaining, playfully obscene, and compact little collection. No lover of surreal literature (or surrealism in general) should be without this lip-smacking mental delicacy.

The Ultimate Sense of Wonder: an Initiation
Again and again I am surprised and seduced by the Spelling Stories of this amazing Novelist and Poet, author of the breathtaking books: "Mogador, The names of the air (City Lights editor.), and "On Lips of water" (Santillana, Ed. as "En los Labios del agua"). This time, Mogador, the well known City of Desire is inhabited by the Garden Stories of Jassiba's Lover, transformed by her absolute and radical Desire in a new male Shajarazad, menaced of erotic death. Each Night of Love is exchanged only for a new Imaginary Garden, the Tale of Someone's Paradise. He becomes a better reader of the most intense Desires in the World, thus a better reader of her Desires. The World is translated in his Tales into an Erotic Poem adressed to Jassiba. We witness the initiation of this lover poet, and go with him, moving through words, through time, through nature in a way that seems at once precise and full of imagination. One of the most amazing book on the Sense of Wonder and Desire that we can read now.

more than reading
When I went into the pages of this book I discovered a new way of understanding my senses and my desires. As important as learning how to read, through the lenses of a poetic an sensous adventure. Telling us the story of Fatma, in the imaginary and walled city of Mogador, this book opens a question about women's desire that only each one of us, women readers, can answer. This is a masterpiece of subtility, a book to share with the dearest persons, a tale to read and read again. I found an english translation of this book as Mogador, published in San Francisco by City Lights. The sequel's title of Los nombres del aire is En los labios del agua. I could not find an english translation. Anyway, both books exists in french. Les visages de l'air, and Les levres de l'eau. An amazing experience for the senses more than a text to read.

Modern Colombian Architecture
An outstanding modern colombian architect that is able to grasp the very best of Colombia and its materials. A book with amazing photography and colour, highly shows Restrepo's achievements. Minimalistic in a way, rustic in others, Restrepo's sense of space is truly amazing. Truly a modern Latin American architect, well respected and talented. A must!
