esoteric architectural representation
Perez-Gomez wrote a very important book, the research on thearchitectural representation, and its roots, is enlightning, anddisturbing, in the sense that he pushes us to rethink our reflexes of perceptions and representation of architecture.

Why should kids have all the fun?
This is a terrific series of fables written by famous contemporary Canadian authors. Like children's fables, they are mostly a vehicle for the authors to moralize... in this case about the state of the country. Quebec separatists, the Tory Ontario government, and the general trend towards government cutbacks all provide fodder for stories by the likes of Margaret Atwood, Rohinton Mistry, Timothy Findley, Neil Bissoondath, Jane Urquhart and Yves Beauchemin.

If you like satire, you'll love this.

Companion Piece
This book must be purchased as a companion to the better-known, "Contempt." I belive this book is Moravia at his best. "Contempt" is better known only due to the film. One Moravia is not enough. These books are seductively elegant--covers illustrated by Pierre Le-Tan--an award winning classic/clever book design--all housing a literary treasure. A magnificent collection! Literature and art combined.

A great sequel to Garey and Johnson
This book is a great sequel to Garey and Johnson. The appendix of this book gives a list of all NP optimisation problems together with their current approximability (or inapproximability results) in a Garey Johnson fashion.

Developing approximation algorithms for NP hard problems is now a very active field in Mathematical Programming and Theoretical Computer Science. There have been a number of exciting developments like semidefinite programming , the Goemans Williamson algorithm for max cut et al.

On the other hand, from a theoretical computer science point of view, we now have a proof that many of these problems cannot have polynomial approximation algorithms unless P=NP.

This book provides an excellent introduction to both areas. A worthy supplement to Garey and Johnson, Papadimitriou's books on combinatorial optimisation and computational complexity, Hochbaum's book on approximation algorithms, Alon and Spencer's book on the probabilistic method and finally Motwani and Raghavan's book on randomised algorithms.

A visit to a world of intense discoveries
This Non-Fiction book can be seen as a documentary novel whose characters are mainly poets facing a battle for enlightment and creative sincerity. Many of them in the middle of very hostile forces. The searchs by Pasolini, Rilke, Mandelstam, Yourcenar, Beckett and many others are told here as Gothic tales from wich we can see and reach our own exits from melancholy. Reading this book we find ourselves into a world of intense discoveries. We can see why Octavio Paz considered this author the best mexican essayist. He is the author of several novels on desire. Three of them are my pillow books: Mogador or the names of the air, En los labios del agua, Los jardines secretos de Mogador.

Excellent study on corruption
This is the best study i have ever read on corruption. As the authors systematicly examine the corruption in Italy, they provide very useful insights for the causes and consequences of corruption in general.(Social, political and economic). It is full of striking empirical examples and stories from the Italian businesses and govermental agencies. this book is both for the academist and normal reader. if you are working on a project on corruption, or just want to learn more about the resons of heavy corruption in developing and underdeveloped countries, this book is a must.

Critical Care Medicine
Published in Textbook Binding by Excerpta Medica (November, 1980)
Author: Alberto Villazon
Amazon base price: $90.50
Average review score:

One of the best books on the subject of intensive care
I once asked Dr. Villazon why he had done so much in the field of intensive care and nutrition, even though he was a surgeon?, and he told me "well I had to see for myself what they were doing in there; I have to care for my patients!". Dr villazon was a pioneer in intensive care, a man of international recognition, and of a vast knowledge. I wholeheartedly recomend this texbook as a basic tome for the student; the current knowledge may be different, but the foundations set by Dr. Villazon are still valid.
Read it, see for yourselves.

Very Well Done
Very well written. Starts a little slow with much preliminary
but fascinating information about the international politics
leading up to the war. After that starts a day by day account of the war and most major battles. I especially liked the many
behind the scenes personal interviews with pilots, Iraqi officers, tank commanders, etc. about their experiences,
Many " stories never told" . It was riveting. Very well researched, unbiased & hard to put down.
