This is a must-read for all "Mandy Book" fans. In this adventure Mandy and her friend Celia are traveling to Europe on the 'Queen Victoria'with Mrs.Taft.She and Celia discover the steerage section of the ship and befriend Lily and Violet Matersan. They also discover a stowaway! If you are a Mandy Fan and haven't read this book,I suggest that you read it A.S.A.P. Also if you aren't a member you should join the Mandy fan club.

Mandie books are mysterious and where ever she goes she finds a mystery. Mandie does many things wrong, but asks for forgiveness. I recommend Mandie books to ALL people!!! Especially people age 9-12! I love them and I guarantee you will too!!!!!!

A hardcover book that can keep your memories or you can plan your things. If you want to be well organized, then this is a good datebook to have. It also includes the birthdates of all the people that are close to Mandie.

This book is a wonderful escape for anyone who picks it up, but if you are familiar with Cape Cod or the coastline of New England you'll find it even more appealing. The people and places so accurately described in Taber's work will make you a convert and read all of her books. Her prose is so superb that you forget you're reading at all and feel that you're having a conversation with Gladys herself. Gone from this world for over two decades, Gladys is still alive with such a presence in these pages that I open her books when I need comfort and I feel as if I'm speaking to my grandmother. An accomplished professor of Writing, a Wellesley grad, a naturalist, and a New Englander, Gladys Taber will remind you that all is and can be right with the world.

An excellent and thorough accounting of the Airedale Terrier. But its scope goes beyond just the history of the breed but tackled in detail the desirable physical characteristics and the proper grooming. Outstanding visual aids leave nothing to the imagination on the proper length of coat when stripping. Again and again, I come back to this book when I am grooming. It compares the bone structure with other canines as to fully explain and offer understanding as to what is desirable physically and why. This is a must for every Airdale Terrier owner's collection.

This book gives us a glimps of what neighborly love and kindness use to be like. The character, Mandie, has a sweet heart and curious nature. There is a new girl in town,and Mandie is set on making friends with her. The setting is a small rural town. The story was like reading a "Little House on the Prairie" saga. I was surprised the way the book took off in an unsuspected twist. The book is a quick and interesting read. My 7 & 10 year old daughters liked it so much, they have asked for the next book, "The Mystery at Miss Abigail's". I liked the book because it showed my girls a compassionate way to help a family.

This book is one of the most important studies that uses oral history and folklore research. Beginning with stories about night riders and beliefs about the supernatural, Fry documents stories about white people's use of folklore to attempt to intimidate African Americans. The book traces out stories of night riders and legends throughout American history as it demonstrates how the stories began with the patrollers and the KKK. She demonstrates how the stories continued into the 20th century and how the old beliefs transformed into plausible scenarios that make sense in relation to contemporary social tensions. The book has been critiqued for not dealing with black people's resistance to oppression, but this criticism misses the mark of what Fry accomplishes: namely, she has written a careful analysis of relationships between belief, oral history, and systems that establish hegemonies. To further balance out the aspects of resistance that show up in these complex belief systems, I would recommend reading Patricia Turner's excellent study "I Heard it Through the Grapevine."

My Spanish-speaking students are willingly doing the activities in this book. It validates their heritage and life experiences and creates opportunities for interpersonal learning. The grammar reviews are easy to understand and some students are experiencing "discovery" of written Spanish for the first time.

This book captivated me and changed me. The detail about inner healing in this book was dramatic and amazing. It helped me understand that there is a physician within. It was wonderful getting to know Gladys better through this book. Reading it made me want to be a physician. I will soon convince my peers who intend to be physician that they need to read this book.
