A great book for anyone trying to enter the business.
This book was a great help in understanding the business of commercial acting and modeling. It gives you a well rounded understanding of what to do in any given situation in this industry.

Awesome Book! Easy reading, easy system & educational!
I truley enjoyed the book, " How to Enter the business of Commercial Modeling & Acting...Without Getting Ripped Off!"! I have learned how to act in college, but never how to make great money acting in the business! I never realized how simple it was for someone to get started in commercial modeling and acting! This book is great because it holds your hand throughout the book and makes it so simple to get started. I have already loaned it to a few freinds and a stage mom or two! It was also great to read the interviews from actors, models and the folks who hire talent. The book covered the entire spectrum of the business. I would advise that not only "new" talent read this but experienced as well. I think it is awesome that the author took the time to write this book because anyone reading it CAN NOT GET SCAMMED IN THE INDUSTRY! Like Morgan Creek Productions quoted on the back of the book, "Shark repellent for the sertious actor" it couldn't have been said better! So many people think that they have to be beautiful to model...WRONG! The Author made a great point..He said that "real" people target the"real" consumer. As a matter of fact, when I watched TV after reading the book, it was about 80% real people in the tv commercials. Even radio commercials lately have the everyday type of voice as opposed to the radio announcer type of voice. I never realized there was such a demand for people like me in the commercial industry.

An amazing decription
Comming from a girl scout, this book has any information you could ever want to know on this amazing lady. After reading thsi book Juliette Gordon Low is now my new role model.

Once a GS, always a GS
As a former Girl Scout, and current Assistant Leader, I can really appreciate the work that went in to founding our beloved organization. This book not only provides a historical account of the founder of the Girl Scouts of America, but also tells us about her parents and grandparents and how they too helped in building our country.

What is also intriguing, is this was not the typical philanthropist who knows nothing about the realities of life. Her life was a series of personal struggles as a child and a woman, it was the story of a survivor, a person anyone can look up to. True she was also an eccentric, but this was overlooked by her charm and the love she had for anyone who came into her life.

When I first saw a film clip at Girl Scout camp in the mid-70's, I became enchanted by this lady. Years later, I was led to this group of young ladies once again and found out there was a book about Juliette Low. I was intrigued from beginning to end, because I could identify with her pain and personal struggles. I soon realized that my life with the Girl Scouts would probably never end, as it had been a part of my journey and had helped me overcome my own struggles as a young woman.

I would recommend this book to all Girl Scouts young and old. I do feel however that it is written more for a mature audience, over 16. Not because of graphic scenes or language, but because the writing is very sophisticated and requires an experienced reader.

fabulous children's book
When we come home to visit the grandparents every year, we read the well worn book. My daughter is 8 and loves to read the story now too. It was one of my childhhood favorites. It really is a wonderful book for some one who is moving away or their best friend is moving way. It is too bad it is out of print!

great book to break in kids to the reality of CHANGE
My mom got me this book when we moved out of state; I was 9 years old and terribly missing friends and the comfort of structure. I last read it 30 yrs ago but this book stands out in my mind more than any book I've ever read as a child. A little girl makes a friend by sharing a pretty stone with her. They become "best friends" but then one of them finds out she has to move away. It doesn't try to hide or sugar coat the pain of separation, but at the end another little girl moves in to her old friend's house, and the magic of the stone works again as they get to know one another. I remember their names even - Ann, Jean and Beth... and I can still see their pretty faces so beautifully sketched. Children are resilient when it comes to friends coming and going, but nevertheless it's very stressful to go through. This book should still be in print because families are more transient today than ever. It really helped me a great deal. (I'm looking to buy it now because we are moving in 2 weeks and wanted to read it to my sons!)

Surrialistic fantasy on ageism & age segregation in society
Supurb SF/Fantasy novel of the if-this-goes-on type about age segregation and what has been called "the seven ages of man."

Decades before the story's start a large island or island continent(Australia?)which was formerly divided into parts known as East, West, North and South (contemporary world regionalism?)was redevided into four called Youthstate, Twostate, Midway and Oldstate.

Young couples typically meet in hippy Youthstate, then are migrated to Twostate as children start to arrive and sexual relationships are formalized with marriage. After being reared in nuclear families there the children go off to college in Youthstate and parents to Midway. Finally, grandparents and the single elderly "retire" to isolation in Oldstate until death... From there we have a picqueresque journey from state to state, picking up a few more individuals from each one, in an attempt to reconnect the peoples of the states as individuals and at the same time deal with social disruptions and threats this process creates.

Obviously this is not a typical action novel, more a novel of character if anything, yet there is enough action and character individuality to make it a reasonably good read, unlike so much utopinan fiction of both past and present.

curious boys
it is a good book that has an interesting adventure. two boys run away from home and go up to the top of great mountain. at the top there is a old man, which they think is a creature, that helps the boys realize more about life. the man sends them down the wrong side of the mountain into what they call "old state", thats where all the old people live. the boys see and learn things that they never imagined. the boys do make it home but not before the mountain is put into its original state. hope you enjoy the book as much as i did. s/a : f/17

A Great Mandie Book
I can't believe I ever thought this book would be boring! I read from chapter 5 to the end with my mom. We took turns reading. We are both christians. This Mandy book was VERY suspensful. I don't want to say anything else, because that might ruin it. I'll just say one (OK,3) things about it: 1)Mandy and Joe get kidnapped 2) The kidnappers had a boat. 3) Study the cover. What's wrong with that picture?

These books are great!!
Mandie and Joe explores Mandie's uncle's mine, and come upon an old farmhouse. Mandie and Joe get kidnapped, and solve the mystery of the dress, and Uncle Ned's secret about the mine. I love these books! Once I start reading them, I can't put them down!

A child's exposure to great art can be an adventure!
Young boys and girls will find this day of adventure in an Art museum a visual delight! The children I read it to (I'm a school Media Specialist) were enthralled and their enthusiam generated curiosity about the artists. They checked out other art books. The Art teacher has her own copy for her young child and she loves it! I highly recommend MOLLY MEETS MONA AND FRIENDS for the young reader. It is a quality exposure to great art for the young artist or the future art lover.

A wonderful introduction to art & sculpture for children.
Molly chases Constable's rainbow, dances with Degas's ballerina, dodges Turner's train, plays guitar with Picasso's musicians, and floats on Monet's lily pad. This is a wonderful and fun way of introducing painting and sculpture into the lives of imaginative young readers

Great book for curious young minds!
My niece has lots of questions about lots of things (3 yrs.old) and it is a continuous challenge to occupy her active mind. This book was a great find for her. She has a new bilinqual friend at pre-school and is excited about learning to talk the way her friend can talk! As these kids have a growing awareness about their bodies and many other things, it is great to find books like this that teach and expand a child's world awareness. Lots of fun and highly recommended.

Great teaching tool!
One of the main reasons I got this book was because of how easy it made the information to learn for kids. This book is filled with fun illustrations labeled in english and spanish. Each page also has two sentences, one in each language, which use the featured part of the body in a sentence. I would definitely recommend it!

Entertaining education in concepts and language
My several grandchildren have enjoyed this book as I bring it along on my visits. The size and construction are great for their small hands and the bright colors and animation make the learning process fun and appealing. It seems that most children today know at least one Spanish-speaking family and this is a great tool for bringing better understanding of two languages.

Great teaching tool
This book is filled with fun and colorful illustrations and keeps the information simple for little kids. I would recommend it to anyone trying to teach little kids about opposites or learn simple words in english and spanish.

Book Review
Michael Green's 'George Patton and the Battle of the Bulge' is one creative piece that explains the details of the Battle of the Bulge. Michael Green has been one of the most profound authors on military issues and World War II related books. The book provided in depth information on what Patton and his third army did when the Germans launched a desperate counter-offensive called 'Wacht am Rhein', translated to be Watch the Rhine where the Nazi defenders charged through the Ardennes. Combat maps, quotes from the soldiers, Patton himself and even from accounts of German soldiers gave highlight to strength and weaknesses of both sides of the war. Real photographs and comments from soldiers interviewed at the time, including the American third army, the German Volksgrenadier divisions making Michael Green's 'George Patton and the Battle of the Bulge' a great book for me to read.
Micheal Green is technically one of the most best authors on Patton and World War II related material, with his array of books already published like Patton's Tank Drive: D-Day to Victory and Patton: Operation Cobra and Beyond. All those experience gained from writing these previous books about Patton helped to make 'George Patton and the Battle of the Bulge' better and more comprehensive. Michael's Wife, Gladys also contributed to his works as his co-author and assistant. As we all know, two brains is always better than one.
'George Patton and the Battle of the Bulge' is one meticulously crafted book with details to many fine elements of the war many books overlooked. One hundred sixty pages in font 10 San Serif and pictures describing the war that even tells what weapons the soldiers depicted are using.
'The most important favor that influenced Hitler's decision to attack the Ardennes was the Allied advance across France to the German boarder, between August and September 1944. Hitler Considered this a more pressing danger to Germany than the Soviet advance in the east. The American crew of a .30-calibre (air cooled) machine gun, fires at German positions somewhere in France. National Archives'
Details like this make this book an easy reading for the short time that I am pressed.
The book is divided into 4 large chapters/sections, Opening moves, The German attack and American reaction, The road to Bastogne, Clearing the Bastogne area. This concept of simplicity helps the reader to be not confused with useless details that ruin many great books and chapter titles with known settings (i.e. The road to Bastogne) help the reader to feel easy with what they already knew. A great book about the war has always been awarded for its simplicity and this one is no other. The first chapter, Opening moves starts out like this:
'Many historians and writers have suspected that the idea for the German Ardennes counteroffensive of December 16, 1944. (Know to Americans as the Battle of the Bulge) was first conceived in Adolf Hitler's mind sometime during the last two weeks of July 1944.'
Simplicity and word choice made the book a breeze and without much pain to read. Its like one of the shows from the History channel, the book gives its information in descriptive narratives. 'Despite this lack of confidence, Hitler still retained the respect and admiration of the Army's rank and file in late 1944 till the end of the war.' This kind of writing in my opinion is much easier to read than writing with much high frequency words and have to dig through the dictionary to fully understand what the book is about.
Overall reading this book is a success and I enjoyed reading this book very much. Now I have purchased this book and that is one of the signs of my approval of its '1337ness'. Counted over 190 pictures to help out my reading and that averages out more than one picture per page. Almost a picture book and still provide enough information for me to take the information from the text and process it with efficiency. This book should definitely be published in hardcover and should be a collector's must have for Patton enthusiasts.

Superbly written, like always!
Michael Green is hands-down the best author I have ever read on this subject. With his array of military books, I just can't seem to get enough of his well-informed and enlightening books. The pictures in this particular book are just astonishing and greatly complement the articulate and intelligent text. Green has once again taken my breath away with this book! I recommend it highly, as I do all of his books. My wife and I both know that they are at the top of my shelf!
