Absorbing, informative, worthy of its subjects
The relationship between Gladys Presley and her son Elvis is lovingly detailed in this excellent book. Both people were larger than life and this book explores their profoundly deep kinship, their effect on one another and how he would have to go on without her. Definately worth reading, even if you are not a disciple of the King; by the way, if you're not, why aren't you?

End of Shadows
The point of life is finding out how to get along with God. Otherwise, the writer of The Epistle to the HEBREWS says that we stumble through an imperfect copy, or shadow, of a real world until the shadows end and reality begins with faith in Jesus. Author Gladys Hunt asks questions aimed at understanding what the epistle verses say and how to apply their meaning to a more spiritual daily life. Her study guide makes for helpful and relevant reading, particularly with Richard Bach's ILLUSIONS, Ari Goldman's THE SEARCH FOR GOD AT HARVARD, Thomas Merton's LIFE AND HOLINESS, and Teresa of Avila's THE WAY OF PERFECTION.

A Fabulous Read
Dorothy Gladys Spicer is a true master of words and spellbinding mystery as she gradually weaves her story to its crescendo. This is truly a captivating book; once I picked it up, I never let it down!

A young woman, Dorcas Gray, is an orphan with special powers ( extrasensory perception ) to see into the future and past. She is capable of also peering into the lives of others and finding truth. She has been taken out for adoption several times before, but her powers speedily spook off her 'would-be' parents. Dorcas can sense things with no assistance at all, but with the aid of a magic top, she can also look deeper into the lives of others and uncover their most valuable and painful secrets. When she is fifteen, she is taken out into the world once again, this time by a farmer and his wife in the smug provincial town of Southbridge. Then, a week after her eighteenth birthday, she is offered a job by a wealthy well-to-do woman who requires Dorcas to look into the past to uncover the fate of a boy who has disappeared twelve years before. Timid, insecure Dorcas is hesitant to accept the job at first ( she resents her powers and accuses them of bringing on misery, which is the story of her life ) but then realizes that it is a great oppurtunity, and that she would be glad to get away from the Fenwicks ( her adopted parents, who are often abusive). So, she travels to Southbridge and is immediately aware of a strange, eerie feeling possessing the shadowy mansion. She is hired to 'find' the wealthy woman's elderly aunt's missing grandson through her clairvoyant vision. She enters life as a medium with constant fear, not wanting to publisize her gift, but she feels obligated to help the kind old woman who has employed and taken her into her home, who still clings to the hope of finding her missing grandson, Steven. In the search to find Steven, Dorcas meets the old woman's grand nephew, Michael. Together they search intently for the boy, attempting to find meaning in the girl's seances, which often come in strange riddles and such.

Soon after, Mrs. Abbot, the old woman, is found dead in her bed one morning. The police arrive when the doctor is unable to sign the death warrant, concluding that the woman was most definately strangled to death by some person(s) occupying the house. Shocked Dorcas is sure of her's and Michael's innocense, and fearfully avoids the other various occupants of the mansion ( all relatives of Mrs. Abbot.) Both she and Michael begin their thrilling search for Mrs. Abbot's murdurer and Steven's abductor, feeling sure that both cases are connected in some way.

The remainder of the story continues at the fast pace equivalent to the first part, with a dramatic spine-tingling twist that leaves the reader spellbound. The final drama set in the dark mystical mansion builds up to a shocking, chilling crescendo where the mystery of the two cases are solved.

A fabulous read, a terrific read, a thrilling read! I highly recommend this work of art to any book-addict who craves suspence. There also is a romantic spark included, for those who are interested. I'm sure all will agree that Miss Spicer is a sophisticated writer, a remarkable authoress!

Living Image
This book should join the ranks of Agatha Cristie's and Mary Higgins Clark's works. It is a non-stop, page-turner mystery, set in Manhattan. To top the cake, the ending is immensely satisfying, the book well thought-out and well executed. A murder mystery buff can't ask for more.

Lovely illustrations and fun facts....
This book details the facts and characterisitcs of the life of these fascinating ladybugs. This story provides informative facts on the life cycles of ladybugs from a larva, pupas, and finally transforming into a beautiful ladybug. The illustrations portray the numerous activities ladybugs goes throughout their simple life such as feeding on aphids, how they keep themselves clean by washing their face with their front two legs, sleep locations, places they have traveled, and where one can gather vast numbers of ladybugs on the mountains, fields and gardens. This is an old book (copyrighted in 1968), but it still does a fine job of explaining about ladybugs. If you're lucky as a ladybug, I hope you'll get a chance to read this wonderful book.
