Essential Guide for Michigan Waterfalls
I carry this book with me whenever I go into the U.P. I like to photograph the waterfalls of Michigan and this guide is constant travel companion. The book gives clear directions on how to get to each of the falls. The falls are broken down into the corresponding counties. Not only is this a unique guide it is a comprehensive guide to Michigan falls. The only minor enhancement that could be made to the book to make it even better is more photographs of the falls. However, the bit of mystery of what the falls will look also is a good motivation for exploring more and more. There are more to Michigan falls than Tahquamenon. I highly recommend Bond Falls. This book is the bible to exploring the falls.

Fantastic Book
I highly recommend this to anyone who's interested in waterfalls. The photography is very nice and the directions are clear and concise. My family and I visited twenty-four waterfalls so far this summer/fall in the Marquette area using this book.

Great Guide to Michigan Waterfalls
We recently took a vacation to the upper peninsula. On our way up there we stopped by a friends home who gave us the guide. We met the folks we were staying with in Munising, they said they loved to explore waterfalls, but were unable to find many just going on the directions from the locals. With this guide we were able to easily locate many falls, the directions are right on, down to the tenth of a mile. I would heartily recommend this guide to anyone wanting to explore Michigan's Waterfalls. We are buying this guide for our friends so that they can explore and know exactly where to find the falls.

storyline of book
For the sake of his twin, Shaw Campbell would storm the gates of Hell. Yet his brother was not in the hands of the devil, but of Merritt Lamont, a female firebrand who would defend her family's honor to the death... and readily take Shaw with her! In these vengeful times of clan warfare, Merritt knew there were few men she could trust. Yet there was something in the eyes of Shaw Campbell that spoke of a man of peace. A man who could all too easily capture her troubled heart

excellent highland romp
this book concerns two clans/families at war--the Campbells and Lamonts. When his brother goes missing he sets out to find him and what he discovers about the Lamonts and the events around Sutton Campbell's disappearance lead to a mysterious Black Campbell who is revealed at the books climatic ending.

This book has a perfect mix of romance, action, adventure, and mystery. I was totally drawn into the awesome characters that Langan portrayed so excellently.

I found Highland Heaven at a garage sale. Intrigued by the cover art and back synopsis I bought it. A week or two later I finally got down to seriously reading it. After the first few chapters I found myself being drawn in more and more to the story unfolding. The characters are what really grabs one's imagination. The story is great as well with action, adventure, and romance being intertwined with each other masterfully.

I would love to see this made into a movie; I think it would be pefectly adaptable to the screen.

This is one great book, and will definately spark the imagination and appeal to the romantics as well as the more action oriented.

A book you won't want to put down!
I found this book packed with exciting adventure. Shaw is torn between defending his family, his land, and the one he comes to love verses remaining a man of the cloth about to take his vows. Will he pick up a sword and fight? Read the book and find out! It's a super read.

A Hole Is to Dig

An overlooked classic -- Early Sendak for kids and adults
This book is a terrific classic -- a listing of definitions, "laws" if you will, that are really almost self-evident in childhood. Each page contains a collection of drawings that illustrate the definition of something. The illustrations tend to show the early Sendak style, but in this book, there is essentially no overwhelming background -- each boy or girl or dog is illustrated in black and white (or beige). Each picture is self-contained, but there is some flow to the text on certain pages.

It's difficult to describe this book, but there is really a separate level for adults in these definitions that makes this an enjoyable read for parent and child. For the adult, this book evokes the simplest play of childhood and a return to certain basic principles that were probably totally accepted and later forgotten. I don't know why, but this is an overlooked classic. I can't think of another book like this.

A wonderful book that my kids want to hear over and over
Or maybe it's me that picks out the book over and over at bedtime. I was really touched the other day when my 5-year-old son helped my 3-year-old son zip his jacket, looked at me and said "a brother is to help." A great book that everyone should read.

Mind-blowing! brilliant!
My girlfriend got this book as a Christmas present, and I picked it up and read it. We don't know why it isn't listed with the zen books! Simple, profound truths about the world we live in: dishes are to do.

Great Collection of Spiritual Lectures.
I have been interested in Neville's material for past two years or so. I read his books and lectures daily and can honestly verify that he is a very outstanding teacher, mystic and Bible scholar. According to some people, Neville is going to be one of three people remembered for their achievements in this world.

What makes Neville's lectures such great source of information is that this man devoted most of his life (over 40 years) for studying the deeper and inner meaning of sacred writings and he knew everything there is to know about the life. Not just that, but he had a very wonderful way of incorporating his knowledge and understanding into practical everyday guidelines and suggestions that will help you if you try them.

Neville never speculated with things - he spoke of personal experience and understanding of life. He says again and again that we should put his material into a test and it will prove to be the truth.

This book is a collection of transcribed lectures from later years of his life. Due to its highly spiritual and mystical nature, this book is recommended to advanced students of spiritual life. Eventhough Neville always wrote clearly and so that he be udnerstood, this book is not for everyone. If you are new to Neville material, I should suggest you read his book "The Law and The Promise" which serves as a wonderful introduction and helps you to understand what he is speaking of in this volume.

Naturally -- I would like to see more bible scholars to read this book because so much of the Bible's meaning and message has been misunderstood... This book should be found in any New Thought student's library.

Great Master Piece. Absolutely Lovely.

Realizing the power of the imagination within you!
If you have been trying to change something in your life that no longer fits your style of living or your belief in the real nature of Truth, this is a book that will help you immensely. Neville is filled with the passion of his knowing that he has discovered the way to become the man that he has always wanted to be. The way to do this is by your own imagination, your belief that you are already a co-creator with God, and that you can do whatever you set your mind to do. All it takes is to use the power that is already within you. This is a book that will stir your deepest desires and help you bring them into fruition. Just think, you can change your world by your deepest thoughts! Enjoy!

Immortal Man by Neville Goddard
Neville's works need to become mainstream study for a tired world. His message speaks to a truth I have always thought and pondered but could not find the evidence with which he writes so definitively. Immortal Man is a masterfull work.

A wealth of solid, practical, accessible information
Collaboratively written by gerontology expert Anita G. Beckerman (College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University) and Ruth M. Tappen (Christine E. Lynn Eminent Scholar Chair and Professor in the College of Nursing, Florida Atlantic University) It Takes More Than Love: A Practical Guide To Taking Care Of An Aging Adult is a straightforward, "user friendly", caretaker's guide for anyone charged with the responsibility of looking after an elderly loved one. From learning how to balance one's time and needs, to assessing physical and mental well-being in one's charge, to communicating effectively with doctors and health professionals, It Takes More Than Love offers a wealth of solid, practical, accessible information and is a "must-read" instructional and advisory for anyone new to the task of looking after older family members or associates.

it takes more than love
This book is written in a way that is never condescending; it talks to the reader as if one were sitting in their kitchen or living room. The content of the book is very thorough, concise, and informative. It truly is a Dr. Spock book for the older adult. I loved the sharing of personal experiences; they make one feel that they are not the only one living through this time of life as a caregiver. I also became aware through reading this book, of the importance of caring for self, even if the time needed for this is sparce. The ideas to achieve the time were very helpful. I highly recommend this book to all caregivers and also to all young adults to have to think about what they may need to know as they get older, and perhaps become caregivers.

The Baby Boomers guide for caring for aging adults
'Straightforward, easy-to-understand, and never condescending'describes "It Takes More Than Love". As we as the Baby Boomer generation faces situations that we may remember taking place with our grandparents, we are now faced with. It may not be just our parents, but as we get older so does our family. Reading this guide helped me to realize that communication is key. That although we want to continue life as we know it, things do change and we must cope with this change. People get older and we must be able to recognize the signs and not feel that we are alone. One of the most helpful discussion was the constant advice that as a caregiver you have to take care of yourself. Use paper, use disposable, perfect is not necessary...love, caring and communication are.

A Must Read Book
I thought Jake's Journal was a wondreful book. I liked how you described the animals and people. The story takes place in the canyon, Jake and Boomer take a hike up to the airplane wreck. I thought that was cool. I hope you make more books like this one and I would like to read some of them.

No one wanted the book to end.
I work in a Resource Room with eight 5th and 6th graders. Every day each child reads with an adult. While reading with a child the others "listen in" at times instead of doing their work. Well, every child ended up reading this book! It grabbed their attention immeditally and kept it all the way to the end. They wanted to be there with Jake and Petey and not one kid wanted the book to end!! It also kept every adult's interest which does not happen very often with children's books.

I can't wait to read it again!
The school library is closed over summer and I want to read this book again and I want to read Boomers Journal again which is a book that happens in the same place. I have a little brother too but I am a girl still he always hangs around with me. It is a short book but I could only check it out one time after we moved here and before school was over. So I have to wait. It is the total best!

The definitive look at an American Modernist: Marin.
The evolution and transformation of Marin's art is brilliantly revealed in Ruth Fine's John Marin. The novice and long time art lover can be assured that they hold a treasure with this out-of-print masterpiece. Informative and well paced this comprehensive publication also delights in the shear artistic energy emanating from Marin's work. The beautifully reproduced drawings, paintings and-- most of all-- his signature watercolors are simply breathtaking. For anyone interested in the American Modernist movement this book delivers a master: John Marin.

Ruth Fine's "Marin" is an American Watercolor masterpiece!
I had the privilage to visit the National Gallery and view John Marin's work in toto a few years ago. He is truly one of the most obscure of the great American abstract watercolorists of this Century. I did not purchase the book at the time, assuming that I could purchase it anywhere back home. Now that it is out of print, I am in a desperate search for it. Marin's work is extrodinarily fresh, alive and engaging. Abbeville Press must reprint for bookstores, libraries and the public to enjoy this man's great talent and fine work!

A enjoyable work about a magnificent american artist
JOHN MARIN was really a great artist. His paintings, mainly water colors, were divine. And RUTH FINE showed us with her irreprehensible work about MARIN. However I figured out he still is very unknown in US. Most salesmen of big book stores or arts stores in N.York don't know him .The book had been very well edited and printed, but unfortunatly it's out-of-print. ABBEVILLE PRESS should print it again. The book should be available at least in all Public and Universities libraries. American people and students deserve it.

Review of Father Water, Mother Woods
Paulsen writes about seasons in his hometown being determined by types of fish caught down by the dam, under the Ninth street bridge, or in frozen lakes, and not by dates on calendars. When fishing ends, hunting is the obsession for Paulsen and friends he calls "orphans of the woods." He explains, "When we were in the woods or fishing the rivers and lakes our lives didn't hurt."

This book is a nature lover's choice. Paulsen writes of growing up in a small Minnesota town and he intertwines this town's life with stories of adventurous boys. Two of my favorite essays are "Running the River" and "Bow Hunting." The first is a hilarious tale of an overplanned camping trip gone wrong when the boat, full of supplies and boys, sinks, forcing the boys to walk back to town. "Bow Hunting" is a coming of age essay in which a boy, after killing his first doe, poignantly describes his realization that while his life will continue, hers will not.

Bringing The Outside In
This book truly brings nature to your fingertips. As a reader, I felt as if I was out in the wild, experiencing everything of which Paulsen wrote. With the descriptive settings and easy-to-relate-to tales, Paulsen makes the reader feel as if they have entered the woods along with the characters in the story. The essays on fishing and hunting in the northern woods are definitely his best work yet! This book is easy to follow, yet has very deep and interesting accounts.
I recommend this illustration to anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. If you want to learn about cold, winter morning fishing excursions, or hot, summer days in the woods, this is the perfect book to help fulfill your curiosity. Father Water Mother Woods is worth your time of reading and is definitely a classic.

Excellent Book
This is an excellent book. The book is written in such detail that it is easy to imagine yourself being there. This is a great book for those of any age. It will bring back some good memories of your childhood.

How to Teach Dyslexics and Other Nonreaders: The Hasty Way To Reading

Teaching by non-teachers
We were lucky none of our children had any reading problems. I am sure not having TV in the house until the youngest one had learned to read helped a lot.

Since then, however we have seen children close to us with reading problems. This is why I think the book by Ruth Hasty is wonderful. She tells us, in words I understand, "How to Teach Dysexics and Other Nonreaders". The case histories and simple instructions make it easy for anyone, with a desire, to teach someone to read.

It must be very satifying for everyone who has used this system to see the results.

How to Teach Dyslexics and Other Nonreaders: The Hasty Way t
I have read and used this method with success. It works in the classroom (I was a third grade teacher) and with my grandchildren. The approach is straight forward and easy to follow. I especially appreciate the 10 minute per night limit. Ms. Hasty encourages us to set a timer so that instruction is completed while the work is still enjoyable. Suggestions that will praise and encourage your student without using candy are also included in this book. I especially recommend this book to parents and anyone who can work individually with a non reader. This approach will work with all ages, including adults.

How To Teach Dyslexics and Other Nonreaders
I have taught adult non readers to read for over twenty years. Most have had dyslexia. Ive tried several ways, with limited results, though most have improved markedly. My present student had more difficulty than I have ever encountered, I worked with her for three years, with little progress. Then my friend Ruth Hasty, the author, sold me her book, and the unheard of happened. In just a few weeks my student was reading almost normally. It is an amazingly simple and effective method, I highly recommend it. Try it, you'll like it. Sincerely, Jan M. Goucher

In Search of Your Time

GOOD USE OF OUR TIME IS A MOST VALUABLE ASSET
I really enjoyed reading IN SEARCH OF YOUR TIME. I saw myself reflected in many of the examples that were given. I find that reading it over and over again is a benefit, because each time I read it I glean something more. I feel that good use of our time is one of the most valuable assets that we can incorporate into our lives.

Be In Control Of Your Time
Wow, this book is an eye opener! I am a goal oriented person, and drive myself to the limit. As I do this, my time seems to pass ever more quickly, and I find myself drained by the end of the day. Sometimes I have to ask myself if it's worth it.

When I read Ruth Martinez's book, IN SEARCH OF YOUR TIME, I got a huge AH-HA! Now I have an entirely different perspective of time, how to use it and how to make it work for me. Oh, I'm still too busy, but it's more a conscious "being in control" of my time, rather than my time being in control of me. I keep my copy by my bed so that I can snatch a thought before going to sleep.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who doesn't have enough time in his or her life. It gives a common sense perspective to everyday life.

I REFER TO THIS BOOK WHEN I FEEL OVERWHELMED
When I begin to get overwhelmed and frazzled at work, I pull out my book and read a section of it. I calm down and take some deep breaths, which helps me get through the situation. This really works for me. The situation is still there, but I can handle it better. I find that I'm more focused afterwards, and it just helps me to do a better job.

I would rate this book as 4 ½ to 5, and the only reason I would give it 4 ½ is that it is short, and I think a lot of people would like a longer book. For me it is fine, though, since it is small enough for me to carry in my purse so I can refer to it whenever I feel the need. Since I can't rate it by halves, I have to give it a 5, as the content is excellent.
