Birding the biggest state East of the Mississippi
Georgia, the largest state East of the Mississippi River, ironically has many undiscovered birding sites while offering the visitor many specialty birds such as Bachman's Sparrow and Red-cockaded Woodpecker. Giff Beaton's new bird finding guide book is fantastic! It is well organized, easy to use, and full of concise information and travel directions, with many informative insights into birds and the environment. The maps and directions are meticulous. Beyond directions and species occurrence data, there are many helpful tips on how to improve your chances of finding specific species. The occurrence charts are well researched and accurate and offer visitors and locals a helpful benchmark to determine what species should be present in which habitats throughout the year. Local birders and visitors alike should carry this book in the field as they plan their journeys around the state.

A Movement with Help from Friends
This book is a really great book. The author really researched the information of the Civil Rights Movement. She shows us what a lot of us fail to realize, such as all white people and all black people aren't bad people. We need each other in this day and time to combat the cruelties of this world. She also shows that we also need spiritual help as well. If God is for us who can be against us, NOBODY! I recommend this people to people of all ages and races. I guarantee that it will relax you and broaden your knowledge of the struggle of the African-American struggle.

Great item for Black History Month!
This book is an encyclopedia listing some of the earliest African-American graduates from a large public university, namely the University of Michigan. Many readers would be surprised to learn that Black students were on the medical campus
in the 1880's, years before Brown versus the Board of Education.
Dr. Johnson conducted exhaustive research to pull together the details of the physicians included in this volume. Especially moving is the author's own tale of struggle and ultimately success after graduating from South Haven High School, attending Western Michigan University, then attending the University of Michigan Medical School after completing just 3 years of undergraduate study. Dr. Johnson and the other physicians described within the book are role models for current and further medical students of all races and backgrounds.

A MUST-HAVE for anyone interested in Black History or for people studying the history of minorities in the health care field.

a must guide for referees
This is an excellent book written by a master referee who emphasizes the spirit of the game and the role of the referee in promoting fairness, protecting players and letting the game flow. Dirk Baay was a player at Ajax and has been a referee in Colorado for many years. He has an insider's understanding of the game. He presents the rules and shows how to apply them to help the game flow and keep it under control. He has a knack for briefly summarizing his advice: "Don't blow what you see, blow what you must." At the end he presents an interesting series of game situations and disucsses how to handle them. I have recommended this book to two referees who tried hard but just did not get the game. The book is a must for referees who did not grow up with the game and valuable for those did.

The Blues in Gray
The Blues in Gray is a very readable account of the Republican Blues service in coastal Georgia with exciting battles taking place on the Ogeechee River at Fort McAllister south of Savannah, Georgia. William Daniel Dixon was 23 when he began his private journal which he kept throughout his Confederate Service. He was a native of Savannah and lived his entire life there. The editor, Roger Durham, has done an excellent job making Dixon's voice heard. I am Dixon's great granddaugher and am delighted that this primary material is available to readers and scholars.

Definitely worth my money and my time.
I bought this book because the cover had a sticker that said if I did not love it, I could return it and get my money back with no questions asked. I figured what did I have to lose? Patricia Sprinkle has since become one my favorite authors. Her Maclaren Yarbrough books are easy reads. I felt like I knew her characters personally and was already missing them as I read the last few pages. If you like Perry Mason, Ben Matlock, or Jessica Fletcher, you will love Maclaren Yarbrough.
