In the hands of madness -- Very highly recommended
FBI Agent Shari Rigel survived the Jonestown Massacre as a child. Now she brings that experience as she observes a similar cult. For two months she steals time to watch over Eden to methodically check each camera blind. Admittedly obsessed, Shari waits for the opportunity to stop another mass suicide. Compelled to prevent a reoccurrence of Jonestown or what she witnessed with the Branch Davideans at Waco, Shari intends to stop Father Will before the FBI descends on the compound to usher in another version of Armageddon.

Father Will, leader of the apocalyptic Christian sect, has built a fortress and a prison inside a mountain honeycombed with caves and tunnels. With the aid of computer technology, Father Will selects each new disciple carefully, transferring their wealth his own accounts as he brings them into the fold. He also uses advanced programs to monitor his adversaries, making him a powerful and dangerous enemy. With the mesmerizing grace of a madman, Father Will leads the Remnant to destruction, planning to begin first with the sacrifice of his own first-born son.

Author Georgia Flosi debuts the "Exit Counselor Series" with a gripping account of a mass suicide planned by the cult leader of THE REMNANT. Flosi's experience as an award-winning playwright lends this tale a fierce, convincing sense of drama as it enacts the dilemma faced by millions of people snared by cults today. Heroine Shari's chilling experience at Jonestown keeps the tension building as she relates that experience to the escalating dangers presented by Father Will. Secondary characters likewise present sympathetic and heart rendering contradictions, especially Maya who refuses to allow Father Will to wed her teen child, or to leave without her family. Father Will presents a dangerous brilliant manipulation of scripture in the midst of madness, preparing for an end of chillingly inevitable destruction. A work of burning hope in the midst of dark intent, THE REMNANT comes very highly recommended.

A chilling suspense novel
The Remnant is a chilling suspense novel about an FBI agent who learns of the mass suicide plan of a cult leader. Trapped between the madness of Father Will and his Remnant cult, and the deadly threat of the FBI itself, she struggles to survive and save as many lives as she can, including Father Will's firstborn son. Author G.J. Flosi's debut novel The Remnant is recommended as a gripping, tense work showcasing the insistent, self-destructive human impulse and the equally relentless battle to preserve the light of hope even in the darkest hour.

A superbly presented historical study
Secret Yankees: The Union Circle In Confederate America by Thomas G. Dyer (Professor of Higher Education and History, University of Georgia) is a superbly presented historical study of pro-Union sympathizers in Atlanta, Georgia. These are Civil War participants who have been largely overlooked and ignored in both traditional civil war studies texts and popular culture movies such as "Gone With the Wind." Dramatic and personal, with special emphasis on the life and struggles of Vermont native and Unionist Cyrena Stone, Secret Yankees is an incredible insight into a little-known aspect of America's deadliest war. Secret Yankees is a seminal and significant contribution to the growing library of Civil War literature and highly recommended for Civil War Studies supplemental reading lists and academic reference collections.

Yankees...in Atlanta!
Professor Thomas G. Dyer's book is a highly important and enjoyable work. All readers can benefit from this excellent work; however, for those with an interest in literary mysteries, Dyer's work offers a special treat. Who was "Miss Abby," the author of a "diary" dated at Atlanta, Georgia, 1 January through 22 July 1864? No one knew. In 1976, the University of Georgia library purchased the manuscript "diary" from a book/manuscript peddler without demanding its provenance, a decision soon to be regretted. The question of authorship was daunting indeed. Faced with a fictitious name and the swollen population of Atlanta toward the end of the Civil War, most writers would have surrendered--not so, this 20th century Sherlock. One would have thought that any stray Yankees in Atlanta would have fled like scalded rats with the first booming from Sumter, or that those remaining were securely confined in the local asylum. Not so, Dyer informs us. Yankees...in Atlanta! Aunt Pittypat would be appalled. In the early stages of his work, Professor Dyer was rightly concerned that the manuscript "diary" could be part of a published work. At an early stage he was also aware that, at best, the "diary" in the collection of the University of Georgia library was perhaps only a transcription of an unknown original document, which he yet thinks was a diary written by Cyrena Bailey Stone. After a careful search of all standard reference, and even rare sources, he found no evidence whatever that the "diary" had been published. However, as is often the case when doing original literary work, Professor Dyer's neck was stretched nicely across scholarship's bloody block. The ax fell. Well into the project, the manuscript "diary" in the University of Georgia library proved to be part of a 1903 novel, "Goldie's Inheritance/A Story of the Siege of Atlanta," by Louisa M. Whitney. To add insult to injury, there were three copies of the novel in the Georgia Room, University of Georgia (where Dyer is Professor of Higher Education and History), as is the manuscript "diary." In the words of a Confederate song writer to President Lincoln, it was "Root Hog, or Die!" Die, Dyer did not. As with Lincoln, he goes on to prove his worth by providing his readers with a new thought provoking view of Atlanta, the home of "Gone With The Wind," during the Civil War. Concerning this work, the following facts are most regrettable. Professor Dyer was not able to locate the supposed original diary of Cyrena Bailey Stone, nor was he able to locate a single example of her handwriting; hence, the manuscript "diary" in the University of Georgia library must remain in doubt, its provenance unknown. The fact that the heroine of this story, Cyrena Bailey Stone, the supposed author of the "diary," was a loyal Atlanta Yankee slave owner, and that other loyal Atlanta Yankees in her nest were also slave owners, would seem sufficient to undermine the basic premise of Professor Dyer's work. This may be so, at least in part. However, Professor Dyer's important contribution does not rest on the faults of the characters which infest his work, nor does it rely on the authenticity of the manuscript "diary" in the University of Georgia library. The thoughtful reader of Professor Dyer's superb work will soon learn why this is so. Working under the burdens I have outlined, Professor Dyer has produced an important seminal work. This work is a must for all readers of southern history.

Heartbreaking, Inspirational
I believe this book is a very inspiring book that tells you how one lives its life. It gives me a very vivid picture of what the author is writing about, It is like a book come alive, and it's like a movie in some way. I am very proud of this man who sees an opporunity and takes it and achieves it. I can see a deaf man who can do anything, Not even blood stops this man. Death overflows this book, I can see the smoke of the dark cloud come out of this book and it feels scary but is also a very inspirating book which is full of true scenes that happened to him. I recommend anyone to read this book. It may encourage young kids to achieve their dreams and not to let anything stop them. Who can be an Emt like this man and face alot of discrimation? I wonder who can stand this much?
Read this book!

Compelling True Story
I can't believe it. He saw my worst nightmare five times over every day.

Suspensful and Sexy
This book was so good. It had passion, drama, suspense and a whole lot more. I feel like I am in the story with the characters when I am reading Monique Gilmore's books. She has a way of drawaing you into the story. I could hardly put the book down. Definately a good read.

EXCELLENT!
Yvonne Taylor never thought she would fall in love again after the betrayal of her fiancee Desmond.

She decided to go to LA to start a new life. Her cousin Adrianne seemed to be living the life as an accountant, or so Yvonne thought.

Yvonne unexpectantly met the handsome Sean Germaine on her flight to LA. She kept telling herself not to let her guard down regarding this hunk of a man. To say the least Sean got under her skin. Yvonne and Sean were drawn to each other.

Yvonne's cousin Adrianne was definitely another story. I thought Soul Deep was a excellent book. It was definitely power packed and had alot of intrigue. I admire Ms. Gilmore and love the way she writes. This was a wonderful story about making your dreams come true. Learning to move on after a devasting life experience is definitely explored in this book.

The Best Junior League Cookbook I've Seen
A friend gave this book to me as a gift and I have enjoyed every recipe I've tried. The selection is unique and not "show-offish" like so many of the League cookbooks are. These are easy to prepare, quick recipes for those of us in the real world who don't want recipes for entertaining, but rather an assortment of good meals for the every day mom who just wants to nurture her family. There is a huge selection here, (over 700 recipes) but my favorites were the "Chidrens' Favorites" and the "Desperate Gourmet" section. Planner in the back is good too. My mother-in-law likes to "read" cookbooks (as if they were novels) and never cooks from them. If you're one of those people, Ma says it's also great for armchair reading.

Very enjoyable! Finally, an all-around great cookbook!
This is the best cookbook I've ever seen! It is wonderfully organized with the best index I've found in any book. Recipes are indexed several different ways which makes locating them a snap. The party planning information is so helpful to figure out how much to make for how many people and the sample occasion menus are much more inventive than I would come up with on my own.

Thanks Jr. Service League of LaGrange, Georgia for such a wonderful book! It's so nice to find great recipes that use ingredients I have in the pantry!

This book is fantastic!
This cookbook has been around for over 20 years. It has great, easy recipes that are easy for the busy mom to fix. Be sure to try the Elegant Chicken. The Flower Pot Dessert is one that is easy to assemble and will certainly be a topic of discussion at any function. The Utility Club of Griffin, Georgia first printed this book as a fundraiser over 20 years ago. My mom was in the club at the time and has recipes in the book. So far, over 20,000 copies have been sold. The Utility Club still sells The Stuffed Griffin as it continues to be a money-maker. We are a service organization with all of our proceeds going directly back into our community. If you don't already have this book, you need it!

Great book, easy recipes!
My mom gave me an older copy of the book when I moved out on my own. I've gotten the new version and enjoy it just as much. It really surprises the wife to see delicious London Broil thrown together in 30 minutes. Drawback: She's threatened to chain me to the stove.

Excellent Series
Birmingham has a very similar style to Marcia Mueller, and the lead characters are very similar -- they're real people with real faults that you can relate to.

I've read each book in the series and enjoyed each one more and more as I've gone along. If you love Sharon McCone, you'll love Sunny Childs.

Excellent regional mystery
Gunnar Brushwood used to be a famous bounty hunter but he is now the owner of Peachtree Investigations located in Atlanta, Georgia. Because he knows he is not a very good sleuth, he employs Sunny Childs as his lead investigator. Gunnar usually lets Sunny make all the decisions. However, because he likes fame, media time and glory he overrules her decision and sets himself up for one of the biggest disasters of his life. Record Company owner Jeremy Ratkin hires the agency to find out what happened to his wife who disappeared from a locked room.

The wife, famous country singer Georgia Burnett, has been kidnapped. When the criminals demand a ransom, Jeremy agrees to pay it. Sunny and Gunnar are going to exchange the money for Georgia but before that can happen, they both realize that the whole scenario is publicity stunt designed to promote her next album. Sunny wants no part of the farce but Gunner decides he wants to be in the spotlight and finishes the exchange. Sunny quits her job. When Georgia is murdered two months later, Gunnar is charged with the crime. Sunny agrees to help on his defense, a move that places her in danger.

Sunny Childs is an exotic mixture of savvy moxie and vulnerable woman. She is the perfect private detective that wins fans and make the series a surefire hit. Ruth Birmingham knows Atlanta and the State of Georgia ands imbues local color into her realsitic characters. The mystery is dynamic and impossible to figure out yet once all the answers are revealed it all makes sense with no loose ends left behind. SWEET GEORGIA is a fascinating and complex who done it that makes for exciting reading.

Absolutely Amazing
A former teacher gave this book to me recently as a gift of comfort-- my mom died a few months ago of cancer. At first I was skeptical- how could a book written for young children who witnessed 9/11 help me deal with my situation? But then I opened it and started reading. I was extremely moved. Ms. Heard has done an incredible job of putting together some very high-quality poems and finding the right people to illustrate them (the pictures are also beautiful). The best part for me is that the book includes poems which look at greif from all angles: from words about crying and despair to lines about the fact that there is hope and not everything is lost. I would recommend this book highly to ANYONE dealing with any type of major loss/trauma, or anyone who simply enjoys good poetry and illustration.

Comfort & Hope
Though 9/11 events were the inspiration for this book, it can be cherished by anyone who has experienced a set-back or loss. I strongly recommend "This Place I Know" as a sympathy gift or as a resource for someone who is hurting.

A good book for choosing garden tools
If you are a beginning gardener and don't know the difference between a shovel and a spade, or what to use them for, this book is immensely useful. It is certainly worth the price and the time it takes to browse through it to find and understand the exact tools you will need for your individual garden before you go out shopping. In addition to pages of full color pictures of each tool, it contains historic accounts regarding the tools and some nice quotes about gardening. After reading this book I felt like I understood garden tools, whereas prior to reading it, I just used tools in a haphazard way without understanding their purpose and how they could help me in the garden.

Truly wonderful
A piece of art, fits the coffee table and yet is packed with valuable information
