A must reading for spritual understanding of Old Testement.
Have you ever read and read the words in the OT and have to re-read to understand what was said or why its there. Read the story of Esther thourgh the spritual eyes of Fuchsia Pickett and the word will come alive. God has a purpose and plan for everthing. This story makes it clear and you can see the Holy Spirit working it all out. We in the body need to excersize our spritual eyes and see what hidden treasures the scripture has for us.

Spurring Women on towards Biblical Wisdom
This book is geared toward women seeking spiritual maturity and is lined with the sound truth provided by Mohney's biblical examples.
It is an easy read, motivating, and instantly applicable to one's life. The topical set up and structure of the book encourages great discussion when read as a group. Mohney is focused in explaining both problems and solutions while remaining extremely relevant and readable.
Overall, this book diserves 2 thumbs up! Five stars across the board!

This is a wonderful book that will break your heart.
This book was the first of her books I read. I couldn't put it down except to get more kleenex. It is a rich and sensitive story about tragic illness and love that knows no boundaries. Every woman should be so lucky as to have a Charles in her life, even if only for a short time. I highly recommend this author.

Touched by the garden
I have never had a green thumb or a plant to prove it. I have had a hardtime culivating things in my own life. But this book opened the doors of my heart to really see that All I have to do is to trust the Master Gardener to work through me in mentoring others even my children. I have also noticed that my generation is at a loss do to the effect that we can ask "Where are the mentors?" I do not want that for my daughters. Thanks to the author for a wonderful why of reaching the heart on mentoring

wonderful
I remember reading this short book first when I was much younger, and most recently a few weeks ago, at almost twenty years of age. This is a fabulous story - it was then and I think I enjoyed it even more now. One of the major things I took out of it was the reason some parents are so adamant about their children making presents rather than buying them - when you make something the end result isn't the sum total of the project - there is time and love and thought involved. When we, in today's over commercialized society, just walk into a store and pick up the first thing we see some of the individuality of the gift is taken away almost. And so although Mama wasn't immediately impressed by her wonderful store bought present as Anna hoped, as soon as she learned the amount of work and time that was spent in earning that money is when she truly understood the impact of the gift. It also teaches children that although parents and adults may sometimes seem unreasonable and uncomprehensible to our young minds, there is a rationale behind what they do. Sometimes finding out what that is is more important than following the "rules" so to speak. :) A truly delightful book, perfect for younger readers as well as older. I recommend it to everyone.

Fairy Tales meet reality....
Friesner does a marvelous job of combining the elements of romance and fantasy into one to create this not-quite-storybook tale. It reminds me a bit of the style of adventure found in The Princess Bride, but quite a bit more down to earth. This is what happens when it ISN'T all happy endings anymore

Webb's approach with this book is clearly spelt out in the introduction. He wants to examine the books from a biblical theology farmework. (The following is a quote from the book.)
"What is necessary here is for me to make clear the kind of biblical theology to which I am personally committed and will practise in the following chapters...Its focus is on the unity of Scripture, while doing full justice to its diversity. The key to this unity in diversity is found in the gospel preached by Jesus and his apostles, to which the New Testament bears witness. This gospel is everywhere anchored in the Old Testament, of which it is seen to be the fulfilment. In short, the kind of biblical theology that will be practised here is an evangelical one, not just in the sense that (some) evangelicals practise it, but in that it derives its rationale from the evangel (the gospel) itself." (p.15)
The examination of each of the Old Testament books is divided into 3 sections: I. The first section is an attempt to let the book speak for itself. II. The second step is to examine the book within the wider Old Testament framework. III. Finally the book is examined in light of the "New Testament gospel with its basic `promise and fulfilment' structure" (p.16).
Webb offers some great insights into the text of each of the books while at the same time engaging contemporary scholarship. While demonstrating a great sensitivity to the text, Webb provides us with some wonderful insights - allowing the text to speak for itself, and allowing us to clearly hear what the text is saying. This book had me opening my Bible and reading with a greater clarity these five books.
