Should be a required textbook for ALL health professionals
I WISH this book were in the hands of not only all mental health professionals but also family doctors, couselors , etc . .

I am deeply distressed that my son has suffered for 3 years now and none of the doctors or therapists along the way ever questioned his basic biochemistry. He has had the typical treatment of simply being put on medication which may cause him further problems the rest of his life. If any of the professionals he has seen to date had read this book and known about the many possibilities of causes and cures of schizophrenia, perhaps he and the family could have been spared the brunt of this devastating illness. We are now working with a ND and seeing some improvement.

There are no simple answers or step by step instructions for curing any one individual, of course. But the information in this book opens the door to so many possibilities -- for the practitioner and lay person alike. This is the most comprehensive book I've read yet on the subject. In addition to a bounty of information, this book gives hope and encouragement that is so very much needed by sufferers and their families.

Buy 2 copies and donate one to the health professional of your choice!

Finally an alternative medicine book that is good
Before I bought this book, I had read some pretty horrible "natural" books dealing with mental illness. Therefore I did not have high expectations for reading this book. I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a great book, and the scientific references are not bad either (most natural remedy-based books have either no references or unreputable references). I especially liked her section on the role of histamine in mental disorders. Histamine plays a much larger role in mental illness than the conventional doctors currently think. For example, only 20-25% of Americans have allergies, yet 85% of depressed patients have allergies---a four-fold difference, and very statistically significant. Histamine may also contribute to anxiety and ADD. This is elaborated in my new book, The Failures of American Medicine.

The best book on orthomolecular (Nutrition based) medicine
This book focuses on how to fight mental illness with up to date advances in nutrition. In the medical field this area of treatment is called orthomolecular medicine. While this field emerged out of research of treating schizophrenia with niacin in 1960's, today orthomolecular medicine offers very effective and safe treatments for large range of mental health conditions. The book covers a broad range of treatments from Vitamin, mineral & herbal treatments to issues such as cerebral allergies (food allergies that effect the function of the brain) and sugar imbalances. Out of all the publications on orthomolecular medicine I have read to date, this one stands out as the very best. This publication combines exhausted in-depth research conveyed in an elegant and well-written fashion. The rich presentation of the book arms the layman reader with knowledge that is far beyond the quality of any professional books on the subject. If I had to change anything about this book, it would only be the title; I would call it "natural brain healing ", since I find it very valuable to all mental illness. It is a real shame that mainstream psychiatry ignores these monumental advances in their own area of science. To them I say, wake up, and smell what is right under your nose.

Creating Union is a must for healthier relationships.
Creating Union brought great change in my life with my life partner, children, friends & people I encountered in my everyday life. I found that Creating Union had great insight to peoples' hangups that prevented healthly, spiritual growth in order to relate to the world and mainly to oneself in an honest, loving, kind manner. I recommend this book to all people. It brought me in touch with me which in turn help my relationship with my life partner. If this book has found you concider yourself blessed. Enjoy!

Great book for root cause analysis of relationships
This book really gets to the core of relationships and why we behave, feel, and live as we do. We are so beautifully delicate human beings with so much potential if we just knew how to release that potential! This book explores our conscious and subconscious beliefs about relationships which broadens out to other aspects of our lives as well. If you liked, "Men are from Mars..." you'll love this!

"Required Reading"
"Creating Union, the Pathwork of Relationship," by Eva Pierrakos and Judith Saly, is the deepest, most insightful book on creating and maintaining the man/woman relationship, within the vision of Christ Consciousness, that I have ever read. It should be "required reading" for anyone involved in a relationship, searching for relationship, or even thinking about relationships. Self-knowledge and honesty, essential to any loving union, are the keys to this joyous fusion of the souls with each other and with God - it is "life." All my thumbs are UP!

Delightful wit
It's good to see this offbeat little classic back in print. John Collier is perhaps better known for his short stories, but this first novel was an exquisitely funny satire. It tells the story of Emily, a chimpanzee who pines for a certain Englishman, Mr. Fatigay, while he teaches school in Africa. When Fatigay returns to England, he takes the friendly chimp with him as a companion, for he realizes that she is clever... though he has no idea that the silent chimp is able to read and to recite literature in her head, nor that she loves him. Emily is handed over to Mr. Fatigay's human girlfriend in England, who will tolerate no rival of any sort and treats her new servant shabbily. Still, Emily finds time to dress up and sneak out to London and the British Museum Reading room (where she is taken for a fascinating woman of mystery!) among other absurd adventures. Though the book is lighthearted, we do feel for its protagonist and her hidden love. Collier has a keen eye for the petty foibles of humankind, and of course the big joke is that the chimp is more intelligent and sensitive than any human here. The premise is somewhat outrageous, but the good writing allows us to suspend disbelief and go along for a ride filled with subtle giggles and wicked belly laughs.

What she said!
I totally agree with the previous reviewer. "His Monkey Wife" is a tour-de-force of English light humorous fiction on the order of "The Canterville Ghost" or "Three Men And A Boat"; as fantasy or literary pastiche it rates with "Orlando." And as Eva Brann emphasizes in her introduction, no heroine of English literature since Jane Eyre can match Emily for moral sensitivity, wit, grace, and spirit. Any woman who's lost her heart to some unworthy Mr. Fatigay and suffered nobly for it will love Emily and recognize her as a sister, if not a biological cousin.

delightful reading
If this is not a lost treasure, I don't know what is. "His Monkey Wife" is exceptionally unique and delightful to read. I found myself identifying with and empathising with Emily (the "chimp") and rooting for her throughout.

If you want to be closer to Spirit, get this book
Reading this is like having a tender, loving, personal
Spiritual friend...better than Jimminy Cricket on your shoulder
in the guise of conscience...this book helps enlighten, uplift
and heal. I've been using it for more than 20 years and
all the Werber books are the top of my vast book list as FAVORITES! Try it, I believe you'll cherish it as I do.

Like a private conversation with Jesus
I have read all four of these books countless times..for years on end. They have run together in my mind...like dreams that continue on and on. But such a beautiful consciousness. I actually don't read them from front to back. I sit and meditate a moment, eyes closed, ask a deep and silent question that I need help with, and then randomly open a page and point. The ANSWER IS ALWAYS THERE. Better than I Ching, astrology, or anything I've found. Brilliant, sensitive, thoughtful. Not everyone will appreciate them. You are ready or not for such books. If you have found your way to this review...I suspect you are ready! Love and blessings for happy spiritual enfoldment...and after this, try Goldsmith! Linda Schiller-Hanna

The most uplifting spiritual guide available!
Eva Bell Werber has an incredible gift in sharing encouraging words from the Lord. Never a day goes by that "In His Presence" doesn't add some meaning to life. Bell opens up the doors allowing the presence of the Lord to enter and guides the reader to a higher understanding of what it means to truly have a relationship with the loving Father. This book worships the Lord. Soak it up!

Lieh-Tzu: A Taoist Guide to Practical Living

A Great Taoist Work
The Lieh Tzu is the one of the less known Taoist classics, yet perhaps the most accessable and enjoyable one. It's a collection of 111 stories said to be by the noted scholar Leih-Tzu around the fourth century BCE. (Who's it really by? Who knows? And who cares?)

The stories cover a variety of topics, such as choosing what is important, how to lead a group of people, archery, choosing ones targets well, Confucius, why one chooses to be a Taoist, and much more.

My favorite quote is "Enlightenment is a very normal experience, attainable by everyone. Therefore, there is nothing mysterious or secretive about it."

A simply wonderful, tranquil book that is enjoyable to read and contemplate.

An "opening" by the translator...
...of the Taoist classic fables, all of which can be read as simple stories or wells of wisdom. I particularly like the tales of the Yellow Emperor.

A well-kept secret of Taoist wisdom.
This book, unlike the more well known works by Lao-Tse and Chuang-Tse, is mostly made up of stories, and is very well suited to children. I read my library's copy, and I wish I could buy a copy to keep for myself, and for my children someday. It is an immensely comforting and wise text we owe to Lieh-Tse, a Taoist master who lived about two centuries after Lao-Tse.

Inspirational, touching, and worthwhile!
Michelle's story is one of courage and determination. Soccer fans in particular will be interested in what she has to say, but even those who don't appreciate the sport should be touched by what she's endured.

I especially enjoyed her teammates' input and the humorous stories about their time spent together. I'm a big fan of the Women's National Soccer Team in general and really appreciated these insights. Michelle also shares thoughtful remarks about family and team staff members who have inspired her to pursue her dreams despite her fight with CFS.

Sometimes you don't realize how good you have it until you hear what someone else has dealt with. This book is a very worthwhile read and may even help you to organize your own priorities!

A TRUELY INSPIRATIONAL BOOK FOR ANYONE
I am a young soccer player who suffers from CFS. After reading this book I became inspired to work even harder. It is a great read for any soccer player or anyone who suffers from CFS. A wonderful book! Thank you Michelle!

Great inspiration
For those who battle hard and never quit, Michelle's story is a great inspiration and story of hope, faith and perseverance. Great details about the Olympics and the US Women's Team as well.

An excellent translation of a document on Internal Alchemy
For research into Taoist concepts of Internal Alchemy, this is an excellent translation of a classic Taoist document. Wong even provides some helpful clarifications to the text that make it very readable.

For those studying philosophical Taoism or meditative Taoism that does not involve complex Internal Alchemy, it may not be as useful a resource. It's extremely complex and may seem odd to eyes of people unfamiliar with certain Taoist practices.

Excellent...
Eva Wong has done an admirable job translating several classic Taoist texts for Western consumption; in this book she continues to uphold the excellent work. These texts were allegorical references for internal alchemy (Qigong) and I have yet to find better translations.

Wong starts the book with a general overview of some of the historical discrepancies around the text, particularly when and by whom it was written. Her explanation, although somewhat short, is quite informative and sets the stage for the translation. She also provides information to assist the reader in understanding the somewhat 'cryptic' discussion of such terms as "yellow sprouts" and "true vapour".

The translation is actually very informative but the reader must leave behind the Western preoccupation with trying to put everything into direct terms. The Taoist's spoke of internal alchemy in a very poetic manner - something which I feel is probably the best method possible. That is, a lot is up to the intuition of the reader (with the help of a proper master) which is the best way to understand the subject. For those who have been cultivating this book will be an invaluable asset.

Highly recommended.

Great book on concepts and theories of Taoism!
This book caught my eye in the bookshop. I flipped through a few pages, read it, and i immediately liked the information offered there. It offers a concise and detailed look into the theories of health and longevity in Taoism.
The original text was written by 2 Taoist famed sages, one being Lu Tung Pin, which is perhaps one of the most popular figure in Taoism. WIth this book, you can learn about more indepth concepts of yin and yang, true yin within yang, "dragon" and "tiger", phases of the moon, the importance of the vapor and vitality and lots more! I couldn't put it down since i bought it. I don't know why, perhaps its the delivery of the concepts thats unique in this book... very well translated and written.

New Orleans for the unintiated
My wife and I had never gone anywhere near New Orleans. The Unauthorized guide pulled no punches and gave amusing and thorough advice on subjects we hadn't even considered. It is very useful and we heartily reccommend it to everyone.

An excellent practical guide.
I used this book to guide me through a recent visit to New Orleans and it proved invaluable on numerous ocassions. The writing is tight, informative but not dry, and it covers a lot of issues which other guides fear to address. The section on avoiding crime and scams.."I know where you got those shoes" was invaluable and saved me some money and some strife! The restaurant guide is excellent and the affordability rating very accurate. Using this guide it was easy to get the best for the least at every meal. Pay attention to the guide, especially about "Mothers" and "The Gumbo Shop" and you can't go wrong! The swamp tour info was also a great help and the guide wasn't wrong when it recommended one over the other (we did both). I highly recommend this guide and really...can't praise it enough!

Travel guide becomes a moving guide
Although we'd been to New Orleans numerous times and thought we knew the city pretty well, this guide took us places we'd never been before and really helped us discover parts of the city and its people that it would have taken years for us to accumulate on our own. It guided us so artfully that our experiences in New Orleans led us to move here full-time.So many guides steer you to this or that, but one of the biggest assets of this guide is what it steers you away from: the bad restaurants and ones that aren't worth the money, the overpriced amusements, and high crime areas. What it does give you is not so much of "what" is in the city, but the "how's" and "why's" of life in New Orleans. And it's pronunciation guide to street names and the like in New Orleans is as valuable as if you were going to a foreign city. Which, of course, you are--New Orleans is the United States' most foreign city!
