You should read this if you can afford the price.
I feel puzzled nobody so far has reviewd this excellent text by Novikov (and Fomenko). The view-point is somewhat different from Bredon or May or Spanier, but together with Part 2, they form a good introduction to "geometric" topology.

Connecting genetics with conservation
This 28 chapter compilation does an excellent job of furthering the growing connection between the disciplines of population genetics, ecology, systematics and evolutionary biology with those of conservation biology and risk management.

Several contributing authors discuss a particular molecular technique and how it can be applied to a specific question in plant and animal conservation biology. Each chapter does an exceptional job in discussing the relative cost, time, advantages and disadvantages of using a specific molecular technique and its relevancy to a specific question. Additional chapters review approaches to analyzing molecular data and their utilization in several case studies. For each case study, authors provide hypotheses, detailed background description of the organism, the molecular technique which best suits the question pursued, elaborate discussion of the data, and finally, insight that has been gained from the study and can be utilized for further management and conservation. In depth discussion of how inferences can be made from molecular genetic data in defining a tangible "unit" for conservation in management programs makes this section the definitive strength of the volume.

This volume reinforces the notion that the largest threat to populations and species today is our little understanding of their environment and the protection it demands. This compilation successfully explores this topic in both theory and application and it defines the future of molecular approaches in conservation biology.

An exciting way to learn MR imaging of the brain
This is an excellent collection of high quality MR images of the brain, each accompanied by a brief clinical history, radiologist's findings, a discussion, and a list of suggested reading. The 100 topics cover a vast area of clinical neurology, from common disorders to the uncommon and the rare. The presentation in the form of a teaching file gives the reader the opportunity to study the cases in an interactive way. As a practicing neurologist, I found going through the pages of this book an enjoyable, and of course, a profitable experience. I have no doubt that all those interested in clinical neurology, from undergraduates and postgraduates to practicing clinicians will find this book an exciting way to learn MR imaging of the brain and sharpen their clinical acumen.

This book is a must for Murphy fans!!!
This book is a fantastic description on how a half hour sit-com is produced. It is wonderful with its behind-the-scenes looks and character/actor bios. Though it may be a little out of date (it was published during the second season), this is the only Murphy book around and it is well worth its money.

Napoleonic Revolution

Excellent look at Napoleon's legacy
I'm a French major and read this book for a research paper. I liked it so much that I bought it. It's well written -- no pompous, stuffy academese here -- and highly interesting. Napoloen was able to put into effect the societal changes that turned France from a feudal to a modern society. This book tells this history by examining not only his military career, but also examines the Napoleonic Code of law, his administrative reforms, his fiscal reforms, his relationship with the church, and his effect on the French education system. Did you know it was Napoleon who instituted the "bac" in France? Or that 21 countries in the world, and the State of Louisiana, still use the Napoleonic code in some form? Fascinating man and fascinating period!

A Narrative Harmony of the Gospels
Published in Spiral-bound by Goss Publishing ()
Authors: John A. Rivet and Robert B. Goss
Amazon base price: $15.95
Average review score:

A definite harmony.
Having read this book, I have to say that I'd recommend it to anyone. And I don't only say that because my father published it.
It puts all the gospels together and makes them easier to navigate through. It's not an obscure, scholarly work, anyone can understand it.
The edition for sale here at Amazon.com is an older one, but in some ways the spiral bound edition is better. When using it for Bible Study, you don't have to worry about breaking the spine, and it's very easy to hand around.

There is now a paperback edition, retitled "The Man From Galilee: The Life of Christ in Harmony", but both editions are exemplary.

Finally, State Health Policy is Recognized
I am now a happy man. Finally somebody has recognized the critical role state governments play in American health care. Too often researchers are drawn to the federal role, missing the powerful and quickly changing role of states in the development, financing, and delivery of health programs.

This is a compelling, insightful discussion of the evolving role of states in American health policy. It also successfully deals with the tremendous variation in the health policy approaches of states and the variation in their respective capacities for change.

To be honest, as a former state Medicaid director and state health commissioner, I have found few academics who understand state government. However, these authors for the most part grasp the complex nature of health politics and policy in the states. They should be congratulated for their insight.
