Great Past Life Experience and Great Reading
I was totally enthralled with this book. I couldn't put it down. It brought to life the old west and the women who lived in it. Anyone who ever wonders about what the "real" old Tombstone was like needs to read this book. Don't let this one slip by you.

Have we met before?
The most captivatingly written book I have ever read. It has brought Tombstone to life for those of us who want to know the other stories that didn't make the history books.

I highly recommend it to everyone.

Completely believable and fascinating reading!
Tombstone, Earp brothers, soiled dove girls, shootings, cowboys, Indians, mining, gambling, the 1880's in the wild, wild west...what else can be more interesting to read? The Bird Cage Saloon was only opened for 8 years, but what stories those walls can tell. Well written, and spellbinding, this large book goes by very quickly and is easy reading, planning to reread it many times. Have visited the Bird Cage in person many times in the past and recently, I have updates since the book was written if interested after reading this book. Enjoy your step back in time to the 1880's!

Spinning Straw is not a fairy tale
SPINNING STRAW - The Jeff Apple Story - written by Phyllis J.D. Green, related by Patricia M. Apple, is an absorbing story of a child with Serious Injury Behavior. While many treatments are attempted and the unpredictable behavior of Jeff is recorded, the reader marvels at the patience of his parents and care givers and at their ability to keep on hoping something will work. Rumpelstiltskin, a funny looking little man, offered to help the miller's daughter spin straw into gold. In her desperation, she made a deal with him. Jeff Apple's family accepting help from every one that could give them hope of healing for Jeff were as desperate. They spun a lot of straw but never succeeded in spinning it into gold. They never knew more than temporary success. While his parents and kind therapists tried every possible means to teach him to refrain from self injury, Jeff continued to inflict pain and abuse to his person, sometimes injuring those trying to protect and care for him. The reader learns much about SIB and the character of those who seek to keep the sufferers safe from themselves. Such a sad story, Mrs. Green tells. She explains the day by day routines that sometimes worked and the reader became hopeful with the parents and therapists and feels the disappointment and frustration at failure. The reader identifies with the mother, who has to agree to dreadful things like electric shock, restraining sheet, cold showers. The reader knows the anguish and guilt Mrs. Apple felt in allowing her child to be so treated. And yet her desperation made it imperative that she accept these in a hope of saving Jeff from himself. Yes, Pat Apple had to make an awful deal, as the miller's daughter did. Well written, it is not a happy story. It is a epic story of the victory of the human spirit over dreadful circumstances to continue to love and hope. The title SPINNING STRAW is intriguing and apt.

Love Defined
"Spinning Straw; the Jeff Apple Story," is one of those rare books that brought me to tears. I can't imagine being a parent of a child who could test the limits of love as Jeff Apple did. The family's plight in dealing with a child with Self Inflicted Behavior made me realize that problems my wife and I had in raising three children were insignificant in comparison with Jeff's demands on his parents and siblings. Phyllis Green does a superb job of telling that story through the eyes of"~ Jeff's mom."~ performance. Throughout the book, I felt the fear that the inevitable self-destructive event would take place, but I could almost not bear to accept it when Jeff's death occurred."~ determination. Nether extreme is ever suggested. What we have is a moving, real-life story, told in a manner that brings all of the reader's senses, emotions, and mental awareness into the process.

Memorable Story
As an author in North Carolina, I had the great pleasure of meeting Phyllis Green when I was promoting my book in Chapel Hill. I attended a book event where Ms. Green appeared with co-author Patricia Apple in Burlington and was fascinated with how this story came about. SPINNING STRAW is the true story of a boy with a self-destructive disease and how his family made it through the ordeal and everything in between. Green and Apple have captured the essence of the human spirit and touched me as a person. Anyone with children will appreciate SPINNING STRAW and will take away a different perspective of parenting. 5+ stars!

Wonderfully quaint and homey
Patricia has done a wonderful job of creating a book that will serve as a perfect introduction to French food and cooking. Her balance of recipes and anecdotes make this one of the few cookbooks out there that you could actually sit down and read cover to cover without actually preparing any of the food, and still come away feeling like you've gained something. Most of the recipes are very simple and easy to put together, as most Bistro food is, and yet quite delicious. Of special interest to the Francophile is the appendix listing many of Patricia's favorite Bistros throughout France.

A must have addition to your cooking library!
If you only own five cookbooks, this should be one of them. The recipes are pure pleasure -- comfort food at its finest. I have taken years of French cooking lessons and still turn to this book every time I want to make a simple meal for my husband & I to enjoy after work. If the only recipe you tried were the one for Mme. Caretet's potato gratin, it would be worth the purchase of the book. Everyone that tries them says they are the best potatoes they have ever had. But don't stop there -- the book presents you with a wealth of eating adventures.

Absolutely the best
My wife and I own many cookbooks, but none has come close to giving us the pleasure we have found in so many of the recipes in Bistro Cooking. We are both rank amateurs in the kitchen, but we have been able to handle virtually every recipe we've tried in this book (I did give up after three attempts at the potato pie from L'Ami Louis). The book includes Ms. Wells' favorite recipes from France's great bistros. Mind-blowing potato gratins, delicious fish recipes, hearty stews, unbelievable roast chicken, a strange but fantastic dish of poached eggs served with a simple red wine sauce, winning desserts, it really goes on and on. Ms. Wells is a great writer, very entertaining, and the book is full of wonderful tips. Even seven years or so after we bought our copy of Bistro Cooking, it's always a special day at our home when we make something from this cookbook.

Math and every day life
I've read this book in the original Portuguese many years ago and was pleasantly surprised to find an English translation in the US. It is the same gem that I remember it to be, offering the delightful adventures of a very keen and wise man, who masters not only the Art of Mathematics, but the Art of Living as well. A joy to read and highly recommended to everyone.

A Very Inspirational Book
This stories in this book have been compiled during a most appropriate time, as Pope John Paul II has proclaimed this year, 2003, as the "The Year of the Rosary". It is an amazing collection of narratives that describe the power of Our Lady's prayer, the Rosary. Each story tells how the Rosary was a profound influence in each author's life, and reinforces what those of us who rely on the Rosary know for a fact - that miracles still happen every day through Mary's intercession. It is light reading, and highly inspiring. It would make a great gift for new Catholics, or for anyone.

MAGNIFICENT READING
This is the most inspirational book that I have read in a long time. The stories are so interesting and it's hard to put the book down.
I can honestly say this, when you read this book, you will definitely want to pray the rosary more often.
Try it. You'll like it.

Read this book!
"101 Inspirational Stories of the Rosary" is a must-read for all people seeking more information on this age-old prayer. Instead of a heavy theological treatise, this book provides concrete, very readable, examples of the power of prayer.
Sister Patricia Proctor has done an excellent job of putting together a very readable, remarkable book.

awesome!!!!!!
Well,i thought that this book was really cool!Out of all the 11 richie tankersly cusick books i have, this was one of my favorites. It's about how trica works at muffin mania at the mall, and then she starts seeing this weird guy stalking her, giving her strange looks that worry her.Thats when she gets a message by her boss that her car was smashed up,so when trica goes to see whats wrong with it,there isn't anything wrong,so...she gets a phone call in the parking lot.....well,you'll have to read it.It's exciting, and if you like horror and mystery, then get this cool book.I'm sure that you won't beable to stop reading it.

My FAVORITE!!!
This is THE BEST book I have EVER read. I'm 13, and the book that got me hooked on Cusick was Someone at the Door, another great book. In The Mall, my favorite characters are Wyatt and Storm, because of what they turn out to be in the end and because, when together, they say great sarcastic one-liners (which are my specialty). I also like "Athan", the way he's so pervertedly obsessed with Trish and how he actually lives IN the mall. That was cool.

Excellent
This book is VERY god, and i would recomend it to everyone. Normally i dont like to read books, but when i read this one i could not put the book down.
PLEASE PLEASE read this book it is excellent.

A REALLY SCARY BOOK WITH A LOT OF MYSTERY!!
THIS WAS AN EXCELLENT BOOK AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO PEOPLE WHO LIKE SCARY BOOKS. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN TILL I FINISHED THE WHOLE BOOK. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST R. L. STINE BOOKS I HAVE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mind reader
I think the mind reader is a real good book because it keeps you geussing on who did it and how did they do that. What I like about the book the most is that the main character. Ellie deals with stuff that every day people whould do just not finding the bodys and have visons but some people do have visons. I could read this book 1,000 times and I bet if you read it once you would read it again. so if I were you I would read it.

Awesome Book
I read this book in 3 hours! I think it was the best R.L. Stine book I ever read! I love his books. I almost have all of them. Just a few more til I have allof them. This book should be a super chiller! It was kind of freaky, but then all the details they gave came into view.

A terrific book
I thought that The Secret by R.L. Stine was great! And I'm glad that Jonathan managed to keep the amulet buried for 100 years until his great grandaughter found it and unleashed the evil . And the part where Hester chants "Abigail came to my house" was scary and a little weird. P.S. FOr some people who heard that the Raven woman didn't come out, it did. If you don't believe me check Borders.com and type in Fear street sagas and there you'll see the Raven WOman Fear street saga #17. Thank you

One of the best Fear Street books ever!
I felt that this book was one of the best out of all the Fear Street books! I found it was gross when Ezra Fier and his family went back to Wickham to find nothing but a few ageing neighbours and lots and of rotting corpses. But than it quickly goes to frightening when the ghost of Hester Godde takes Ezra's daughter Abigal to the grave and Hester's ghostly whisper ring's through the air "Can Abigal come to my house?" which swiches to a gleeful chant of "Abigal came to my house!". Well all in all this was a great book and I look forward to reading "The Burning"! ~Justine

A very Frighting Story! Keeps You On The Edge!
After years of searching Ezra Fier beleaves he has found the Goodes in the village of Wicham. Only the Goodes are not there anymore. As for the rest of the people... DEAD! The Fiers move ino the Goodes old home-in Wicham-hoping they will return. Young Abigail Fier befriends a young girl who kills her! She was the ghost of Hester Goode. By marrying Delilah Goode/Wilson. Jonathan Fier thinks he can end the curse. But at the wedding Delilah is shot and killed! Jonathan buries the amulet along with his father and the curse. It stays buried for 100 years! But Elizabeth Fier finds the "pretty necklace" and unleashes the evil once agian. Franklin Goode kills Elizabeths sister Kate and tells Elizabeth it was suicide. Her brother Simon kills Frank before he kills Elizabeth. To escape the curse he changes the family name from Fier to Fear. And that is only the begining....

"Excellent book to understand what's going on"
This book is excellent for anyone involves in a emotional abusive relationship. I was with an emotional abuser for 31 years. I read the book. I did it. I left. After a month of reading it finally I could do it. I could understand that I am not the wrong one and I could get what was going on for first time in my life. And knowing that encouraged me to leave. It was the knowledge i was needed to be able to leave so unworth relationship. If you really want to help yourself, go ahead and read this book. I can tell you, i was scared to read it when i read some comments that someone after read it in two weeks left. And I bought the book and waited two weeks to start reading it. Then I read it and when i was reading it I felt worse and i thought it was the wrong thing to do. Now I know it was the best i could do for myself. I recovered my life !

BE A PERSON - NOT A DOORMAT
I am living with a daughter who has become verbally abusive and most ironically, she is in the medical profession. But she seems unaware of her abusive ways, constant criticizing, refusal to be pleased, temper tantrums. This book by Patricia Evans is right on target. The book needs to be read slowly and maybe in segments to fully appreciate its thoroughness and value to the abused person.
Although most of the writing is about marital situations of abuse, Ms. Evans states that abuse can come from anyone. I also have an abusive older sister. But now I feel I can handle these
difficult people in my life. This book is valuable, and the small
price makes it even more attractive.

Educational - it opened my eyes
At the advise of a counselor, I read this book. I had been living this for all of my married life.Over and over I could relate to what others had experienced.
Not only did I become aware of why I felt like I did, I also became aware of how I was abusive to others. Abuse is such a subtle thing, and most of us never realize what we are doing to other people. I think especially when we are trying to protect and defend our own self from such abuse, it is easy to fall into
the trap of abusing.
I'm so thankful to have read this book. Several friends have read it also. It has helped our personal lives, and in some cases our marriages to get better.

An exciting Book!
This Book Is about a girl Named Vada. Her mother died before she could know her mom. She has a stepmother Shelly. Now she is pregnant and Vada is being kick out of her room for the baby on the way. She had a best friend Thomas that died two years ago. She got a necklace from him before he died. Vada had a chance to find out about her mother by visiting an Uncle Phil in Los Angeles. Her uncle had a stepson Nick, that showed her around Los Angeles. They found out a little bit of information about her mom due to the fact that the Highschool that her mother went through was burnt down. Nick and Vada were looking all over for A guy named Jeffrey Pommeroy address and they got the address that made them so happy! Vada and her Uncle Phil were driving close to Jeffrey Pommeroy's house suddenly, they found the house and then Vada went in and Talk to Jeffrey. He told Vada about her mother's past. Vada asked Jeffery If he had any Pictures Of her Mother but he said no. I have something better, it was a movie about your mother. He asked Vada If she would like to keep the movie of her mother and she said, that she wouldn't mind at all. Jeffery gave her a hug and then gave him a hug back. Well This book Is a really good book! You have to read what will happen to Vada and everything else. So Read the ending of My Girl 2 It's a great book!

It rocked my world.
I loved this book. It is adventourous, romantic, exciting, and partially sad. It was a 4 tissue story. The book is about a girl who is writing a report and has to find out information about her mother who died after Vada, the girl, was born. It was a great story. I think anyone that likes to search for new things and enjoys a little mushyness would enjoy this story.

GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
I just LOVE this book! A great sequal to the first book. It's mainly about a thirteen year old girl, Vada Sultenfuss, who has been assigned to do a project on someone she admires but never really met. Naturally, she chooses her mother, who died because of birth complications. Her dad's an undertaker, who remarried to Shelly, the lady that does the make up on the...uh, deceased people. Now Shelly's pregnant. It's not one of those fairytale stories, where Shelly's the evil wicked fairy stepmother, or anything. Really. Vada actually likes Shelly, but has mixed feelings about it. She doesn't mind there's a baby, but she feels bad about the fact that she'll have to give up her room, something her mom had chosen. Another thing is that she's afraid that Shelly might die too. In the mean time, she has her new friend Judy to think about, whose currently dating the oh-so-cool-and-totally-snott-faced...(drumroll, please)Kevin Phillips. Soon, she decides to go to L.A., her mothers bithplace, to find out more for her report. Once there, she meets up with her Uncle Phil, his girlfriend, and his almost stepson, Nick. It starts out as a bribery thing, really, with Uncle Phil paying Nick five bucks to take Vada from the airport, and ten to take her around the place. Vada finds Nick incredibly disagreeable and wonders why he tags along anyway, if he dislikes her so much. She finds out more about her mother, though usually dissapointing bits, but eventually confides in Nick pretty many things, such as her mood ring and Thomas J.They become friends, really good friends. Really, REALLY good friends. Dare I say, a little more? Then, she finds out about some guy her mother had already been married to, and begins to worry that this Jeffery Pommery guy could actually be her father. She finds out once she meets him, though, that she's wrong. Totally, completely, embarrassingly wrong. She even got to keep a vidio tape of her mother singing and acting. So, in one little Spring Vacation, she finds out about her mother, gets her ear pierced(barbaric customs, Nick calls it) and gets a sort of couisin, once Phil proposes. Not that they want to be couisins, they'd rather be... well, Vada doesn't say, but you know. Now, at the airport, she gets her first kiss. Second, actually, afterall, Thomas J. kissed her first in the first book, but that's another story. Anyway, guess who does it? Nick, of course. On her way back on the airplane, she finds a tiny box with the chandeleir earrings that she wanted, along with a note saying, "In memory of barbaric customs. Love, Nick." Intrigued by the "love" part? Too bad for you, that's basically the last we ever heard of Nick. Once home, she rushes to the hospital to find that she is now a sister. Stepsister. Whatever, you know what I'm talking about. I'm not about to tell you the end- okay, I already told you most of it, but still, it's REALLY worth reading!! Since most people will probably see how long this review is, they'll probably skip it. Well, there goes twenty minutes writing to a waste. Oh well. Just one last thing: YOU...MUST...READ...THIS...BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
