Poot rules!
This has to be one of my favorite Coville books ever--and since I've collected about 50, that's saying something. This story continues where MY TEACHER IS AN ALIEN left off, and lets you know the story behind Duncan Dougal (the class bully). His life is pretty rough, seventh grade is going pretty badly, and he only has one nice teacher--Miss Karpou. When he finds out that one of the teachers at the school IS an alien and no one believes him, Duncan feels that he has to prove there's a threat.
He ends up getting his brain *fried* to increase its brain power--and meets the alien's pet, Poot. Poot has to be one of the most appealing sidekick-pets ever. A telepathic, green-glowing, shape-shifting slug, Poot instantly takes a liking to Duncan.
I don't want to reveal the ending, suffice to say that I highly recommend this book!

This is a Great Book
My Teacher Fried My Brains
By Bruce Colville

This book is about aliens who do something about Earth. They think we're poison! There is a boy named Duncan and he always gets into trouble. He zapped his brain and got smarter somehow, and meets Poot, a purple glowing slug.
I like this book because you never know what is going to happen next. Once Duncan got sucked into an alien ship. I didn't know what was going to happen to him.
I think the author wrote this book to make people wonder if there are aliens.

My Teacher Fried My Brains
I thought this book was good. It was suspenseful and you didn't know what would happen next. The book was about a kid named Duncan. He is not too bright until his principal also called the Mancatcher volunteers him to go to the front of the class in science and put a big machine on his head. Then someone turned the crank and it felt like ants were walking around his brain. Then he realized it made him smarter. He went back at night to the classroom and used it again. But he used it too many times and now he has five senses. He can hear the radio and tv in his head. He goes to the home economics teacher which he thinks she is not the alien but boy he's in for a surprise. If you want to know what happens to Duncan, you sould read My Teacher Fried My Brains.

Great scrap quilt book
I like scrap quilt books, but don't have the money to buy them all, so I compared a lot of them, and this is the one I bought. I feel like it has the best-looking combination of scrap quilts. Colorful and attractive, good patterns.

A Must For Your Quilt Library
This is my favorite quilting pattern book in my entire collection. So often there is only one or two patterns in an entire book that interests me - I have already made 4 and plan to make another 5 from this one source alone! Also, it is a great way to use up scraps of all sizes and equally fine for getting ideas for swaps (I personally recommend the 'Dahlia Delight' pattern for this purpose). The directions are easy to follow, the selection of patterns has a wide range, and the pictures are printed clearly and large (no squinting). You will not be disappointed whether you are a beginner or an advanced quilter.

Best book I've every bought!
Terrific book filled with projects that are great for the beginner and even better for the advanced quilter! Clear instructions, great photos, a real idea generator! You won't be sorry you bought this one if you enjoy more traditional quilts!

A new Father's thoughts.
I could only image what my two month old daughter thinks as she smiles at me,"I know this man; he is my father, who loves me and cherishes me, and he will protect me. I know his voice because before I was even born, he spoke to me and comforted me. I know that I already love him, even though I can only let him know this with my little smile." Phoebe is at peace with her mother and me because we used the Sleep Talk scripts. And, we are convinced that Phoebe sleeps all night because we continue to use Sleep Talk today.

Sleep Talk works
What this book does is provide words (scripts) of encouragement to read to your child while they sleep to help with problems they might be experiencing. For example, my son wouldn't go to sleep easy AND would wake up more that once during the night. Getting him back to sleep took some time. This went on for two years. We tried everything including the Ferber method. Within three days of using one of the scripts in the book it was easy to get him to sleep. If he did wake during the night he would go back to sleep on his own or be easy to sooth and fall asleep. This was using a script right from the book. Even more amazing was when we would fight with him to give nebulizer treatments. As I fought with him through a treatment I made sure he knew what the nebulizer was and it was good medicine. That night I read a script I wrote using the same words I used during his treatment. The next day he was calm and took the "good medicine." This book provides scripts for many situations and gives you the tools to write your own scripts. It is easy to understand and you can be using the method in short time.

A Wonderful Tool for Childrearing
How I wish I'd had this book when raising my children! It's now at the top of my list for new parents. Not only does the author give specific scripts to use with children as they sleep (with impressive results from clients), she offers wonderful little tidbits on dealing with issues that arise in all families. All of this is presented in a loving, thoughtful, intelligent and logical manner. One of my favorites is the "one-finger" technique. Instead of saying, "No, don't touch that!", she suggests, "You may touch that with one finger." When I'm fortunate enough to have grandchildren, much of what is presented in this gem of a book will be put to good use.

Our family's favorite December holiday book
A few years ago I was lucky enough to overhear our school librarian recommend this book to another parent at the school book fair. There was only one copy left so I took it.

Now, each December I get out our family's box of holiday books and this is the first one we read. My youngest child handed me a tissue before I started reading it last December! She knows how this book touches my heart and warms my soul.

I have given this book to family and friends ... young and old. Great book to spread the message of what is really important -- at the holidays especially.

A "Heart Song" for the Holiday Season from Patricia Polacco
Trish loves it when her family celebrates the eight days of Hanukkah. Her mother stays home from work, her Babushka makes delicious potato latkes, and her Grandpa carves beautiful animals out of wood as gifts. But while her family is preparing for Hanukkah, Trisha visits their closest neighbors. Instead of finding them busy decorating their house for Christmas, the neighbors are bedridden with the deadly scarlet fever that is sweeping the area. Trisha's family has been spared from the epidemic, but they cannot enjoy the Feast of Lights while their neighbors are unable to celebrate their holiday. Then Grandpa has an idea and "The Trees of the Dancing Goats" becomes "that Christmas...when Santa really did come."

Patricia Polacco wrote and illustrated this wonderful holiday story as a "heart song," in memory of an incredible winter on her family's farm outside of Union City, Michigan. This makes "The Trees of the Dancing Goats" even more special, because this is one of those stories that when you finish reading it you wish it were true. Learning that it is indeed a true story makes it only that much better. The illustrations, done in marking pens and pencils, capture the spirit of the season and the love the author has poured into this remembrance of her mother and her loving grandparents. This tale of the best of the Old World and the New World is a holiday book to be shared.

One of my all-time favorites!
Drawing upon her own family's experience, Patricia Polacco shares a story of true holiday giving. Her Russian grandparents teach the meaning of friendship and miracles as they relate the story of Hanukkah and as they reach out to their Christian neighbors who are suffering from a deadly epidemic of scarlet fever. They adapt the symbols of their Jewish celebration to bring Christmas to those who are too ill to create their own festivities. Polacco's colorful illustrations capture the warmth and spirit of the characters and do much to enhance this wonderful story.

The Mourning of Angels
Patricia Edminsen captures the essence of the 1960s in her book "The Mourning of Angels."
Her real-life adventures in Peru as a Peace Corps volunteer lets the reader see the poverty and devastation that existed in the backroads of that poor nation at the time.
Lydia, the protagonist of the book, brings to life the adventures shared by the volunteers during John F. Kennedy's administration and the contributions made by these selfless people.
Not only is the book factual, but it stirs the soul with the realism of sexual encounters in the life of an innocent Catholic girl, away from home for the first time.
This is one great novel.

Living and Loving in Peru
Because of its touching love story, this is a fast and easy read. But don't be misled, because there is a lot more to it. The book is packed with history, politics, and culture. The reader is introduced to the diversity of Latin America, where the Indians, the Mestizos, and those of Spanish descent have plaited themselves into a rich and colorful braid. The result is entertaining and informative. I'd like a sequel about Lydia after she's returned to the States.

An inspiring story
"I've just finished reading it, and I loved it. It is a very interesting and inspiring story. I followed it very carefully.Es un libro muy informativo, muy entretenido, lleno de vida y esperanza."

Filled With Tips and Tricks of the Trade
"Over 75 Good Ideas for Promoting Your Book" is not the most original title for a book, but it's certainly an accurate one.

This how-to booklet (it's only 72 pages) is filled to the brim with tips and tricks for getting your newly published book covered in the media and read by the masses. Each tip is highlighted in bold, with an easy-to-follow explanation underneath. Side-bars provide extra insight into promoting your work; instead of just saying to write a press release, this book shows you how. Within these pages, you'll learn how to make a commercial, how to get your book into bookstores and how to give testimonials.

Patricia L. Fry is the author of 10 books, so clearly she's had practice in promoting her books. Though most of her tips seem like common sense, they're presented in a straight, no-nonsense fashion that anyone can follow.

If you've just finished writing your latest nonfiction book or novel, start preparing your partials and query letters. Once you've mailed them, immediately buy this book and map out your promotion strategy.

Unique promotional ideas that work and sale books!!!
Over 75 Good Ideas for Promoting Your Book by Patricia L. Fry is a valuable resource for authors who want to succeed at book promotion. Patricia offers so much information that the reader will never run dry of promotional ideas again. She provides what only someone who has been in the trenches of book promotion for over 30 years can; unique promotional ideas that work and sale books...

Highly recommended
The most obnoxious complaint I hear from writers is "my publisher doesn't do enough to promote my book." Every time someone voices this complaint, I ask what they are doing to promote their book themselves. I am usually met with a shocked stare. Writers write, why should they promote? Not only why, but how writers can promote their work is answered in Patricia Fry's OVER 75 GOOD IDEAS FOR PROMOTING YOUR BOOK.

Fry has been marketing her own books for over twenty years. From the basics of book promotion, to mailing lists and web sites, Fry presents clear concise techniques for any author to find comfortable, successful methods for publicizing their books. Indeed, tips on topics such as book signings and promotional displays will motivate the most disheartened author to sell their work.

One of the most successful methods that Fry describes, that of writing a column, I have observed first hand. Several authors have joined WordWeaving over this past year for permanent or temporary columns, allowing them to increase their name recognition exponentially.

OVER 75 GOOD IDEAS FOR PROMOTING YOUR BOOK is an immensely practical guide filled with useful suggestions and tips that authors will find themselves returning to again and again. Fry's seasoned advice, crisp presentation, and practical approach wins my high recommendation.

One of the Strongest of the series
While this one was published 3rd in the Aeron series, it's actually first in order. The characters are strong, and you see the groundwork for the next two, (Copper Crown and Throne of Scone) The glimpses of Keltic life and culture are also quite well done.

Excellent read!
I have been interested in these books since I first heard about them several years ago. I finally bought The Silver Branch and decided to give them a try. I finished the book in record time and immediately went hunting for the rest of Patricia Kennealy-Morrison's books.

This story is amazing. It's not just the plot, although that gets my highest praise for being so intricate and well-written. But, the world that has been created around the plot is so stunning and beautiful that I can't describe it. You just have to go there for yourself.

A must read
I really loved this book. It is basically a prequel to two other books within this trilogy but it can be read first.
Enough background-- what I really want to say is how much fun this is to read, how smart it is, and how well written it is as well. The characters come to life for the reader and stay with them long after you finish reading the book. Dare I say "a classic"? (NOTE: This is all coming from someone who is not a sci-fi/ fantasy nut but someone who reads all genres of literature.)

Totally disgusting
Totally disgusting is about a cat named Mewkiss, a dog named Barkus, and another cat named Allergies. Mewkiss is afraid of rats until Allergies tells her a story about a cat named Mukiz. That builds up her courage to go find them. they go on many adventures and you'll have to read this book to find out about it.
I would recommend this book because it has good details and is a good adventure book. I like llamas.

Awesome Book: Totally Disgusting
Everbody should read this book it is exciting adventurous and scary. People who love animals would love this book. It's about a dog and a cat that try to eliminate these two rats that are trying to hurt their owners.

It is the cutest story, and was pretty exciting, especially when Mewkiss was fighting the rat. If you want a good book that wont take you too long to read i would really recomend this book.

We read this book ad nauseum
This is my 2 y/o son's favorite book EVER! We have to read it every night and take it on all our overnight trips. Needless to say, even he has the text memorized. Yes, the Tonka logo shamelessly displayed on every truck is a bit much, but I've found this book to include the widest variety of trucks. These are displayed nicely in their appropriate "scenes", and the information on each truck's capabilities is a great learning tool. My son is so thrilled when we come across these machines at work in our day-to day life, and he couldn't wait to go to the State Fair. It's been the best money I've spent on a book for him yet, even though I wish we could skip it and perhaps read Stellaluna instead just one night.

Plenty of details to keep you interested
My son has loved this book since he got it a year ago when he was 1.5 years old. I have found as time goes on he always finds new things to ask about - each page is packed with detail, but not so busy as to be a turnoff. This book has provoked alot of discussion about how houses are built, how roads are made, what happens on a farm etc. There is enough there to keep kids interested for a long time!!

A big commercial for Tonka -- but kids love it
My in-laws gave this book to my 22-month-old son, who loves trucks, construction vehicles and machinery, and it became an instant favorite of his. They were a bit hesitant at first about buying the book because it's essentially a big commercial for Tonka products -- every truck and construction vehicle in the book (and there are many) has "TONKA" prominently written on it. That caveat aside, however, it _is_ a great book for kids who share my son's interests -- it shows the trucks in action and explains the name and uses of each. I also like the fact that it shows both women and men operating the trucks.

I've given away every one I've owned...
This is one of those books that can change your life. It was given to me by a dear friend , and I turned to it when my life made no sense. It helped me make sense of my life then, and it still makes wonderful sense today; 20+ years later. I have "passed it on" to many people and will probably do so as long as it's in print. I hope that this one will stay in my library, but if not, I know it will serve a purpose for someone that I care about - A great book to help you help yourself.....

Be Fully In the Moment
For many years, I wondered why some people abruptly shifted their eyes away from my eyes. I also wondered how it would be possible for me to acquire the charisma that I admire in many public people.

This book is the answer.

People who shift their eyes from my eyes fear that if I notice who they are, and if I don't like who they are, they won't be accepted, because, to them, that is all that they have. I learned that those people have a self-concept that is based upon anticipating what others will think of them.

And to become as charismatic as those I most admire, I've learned that by first accepting everything about myself, I am free to emulate them, without losing myself.

This little book has so much information for anyone who desires to be their best.

Read this book to become more than comfortable in your own skin.

A Venture Into The Self
Any person who desires to understand himself in regard to personal growth and relationship with others must read this book. I have read and reread this book and use it to counsel others. Powell deals with the topic of human growth and development with acute precision and accuracy that informs a picture of the well-integrated, whole individual. He communicates this person in the honor of the image of God, not in a preachy tone but such as to reflect the dignity of humankind and his own vast understanding in religion and classical studies. He also touches at the nerve of why individuals mask themselves from others and the care and caution that we as counselors need to take in dealing with these people. His catalog of games and roles is so descriptive that even emotionally healthy persons can identify the weakend emotional tendencies that characterize their life. The principles in this book can be communicated to adolescent and adult alike. Simply indispensable.
