Great advice, wonderful role models
I loved this book, as it answered many of the questions I have as a newbie on the spiritual path. Their information is clear and concise, and it felt like they were sitting in my living room, sharing their life experience in ways that are very helpful to me. I highly recommend this book!

A Great Read
The Spiritual Chicks ask all the right questions, don't claim to have all the answers, but show us how to find out for ourselves. THE SPIRITUAL CHICKS QUESTION EVERYTHING was such a fun read, yet, at the same time, it was thought-provoking and very real. The questions are great, but it's the essays by each of the authors sandwiched in between that are the soul of the book.

REFRESHING
This is a funny, witty, romp through the realm of spirituality. And it isn't done with a pious pompous stuffy tude either. If it's not a shot at hard core legalistic organized religions, then it's a darned good sensible excuse for us all to explore the possiblity that this existential stuff ought not be so heavy. There is no dogma here. Just thought provoking wisdoms that teach us to lighten up. I'm feeling lighter already.

Excellent resource
This book is a terrific resource for those just starting out or those who would like to know more about hiking and backpacking. The author's topics cover everything from the complete basics like, why you should hike, straight through to the more complex, like how to adjust your compass for declination. She also makes extremely helpful suggestions on purchasing products such as tents, sleeping bags, water purifiers, stoves, and basically all types of gear. The author has a writing style that generates interest in the reading material. She also focuses on particular topics, like handling problems only women encounter in the outdoors, or what you should know before taking children hiking. This book is a must have.

One of the best.
Valuable informaton throughout. Well-written. Eye-catching photos. Even the paper used for the book is stronger than most should you want to take it in the field.

I read this book as a novice backpacker, and it help take me to the next level.

Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome...
I bought this book on a whim for my first ever backpacking expedition, and I loved it the second I cracked the front cover. It covers everything and anything a beginning hiker/backpacker could ever need. (It made my excursion with my husband-to-be on Valentine's Day weekend a blast!) While I still think cotton is just as invaluable as all the high-tech materials out there, she definitely makes her "expert" opinion a time and money saver. I give her little section on women and kids an A++ for motivation. Oh, and did I mention it was awesome.

Touching
This book is very emotional and touching. It's a about two people whose hearts and lives are empty and they come together because they both need someone in their lives.
Karen White writes with a light touch so that you feel for both characters and by the end of the book there is no doubt that these two people belong together.

Another one I couldn't put down
This is the first book I read by Karen White and I hope to see more from her. Her writing style is starkly and humorously descriptive. An example is when one of Joe's children hands Suzanne his toy airplane and "she reacted as though he'd handed her a large insect." Perfect! Wonderful. I can both see and feel that reaction. Just what I want from an author. Good story, not too sappy, not really that predictable, a little non-believable in parts, but an overall good read. I didn't realize this was a sequel and I'm glad I didn't. I like the mystery surrounding Suzanne and Joe.

Marvelous sequel! Very highly recommended
A woman on the run, photographer Suzanne disembarks the bus on a whim, choosing to stay in Walton, Georgia. Unused to children, her comment regarding leash laws and children captures Joe's attention. Introducing herself as Suzanne Paris, she quickly learns that Joe is the town mayor who also happens to be the widowed father of six children. While she knows she cannot remain in Walton long without endangering her safety, Suzanne quickly finds herself falling in love with the citizens of Walton and their mayor.

Unlike the citizens of Walton who proudly cling to their deep southern roots, Suzanne is a drifter without ties to her past. Her alcoholic mother had disappeared when she was a teen, leaving behind only a necklace with the inscription, "A life without rain is like the sun without shade." Foster homes and emotional damage have exacted their toll, but Suzanne soon discovers the rain and the sun of Walton. Suzanne blossoms under the warmth of new friends and longs to linger in the healing atmosphere and near Joe and his remarkable children.

Author Lisa Plumley pens an elegantly enchanting southern novel in AFTER THE RAIN. Fans of FALLING HOME will welcome the return of favorite characters the beauty of Plumley's evocative prose. Indeed, readers will find themselves chuckling and tearful as the powerful characterizations sweep them into the marvelous small Georgia town and its memorable citizens. As the town conspires to protect Suzanne from threats of the past, she finds redemption and healing in the most unexpected of ways. Readers will be extremely reluctant to depart and will be clamoring for yet another sequel. AFTER THE RAIN comes very highly recommended.

A creative masterpiece!
My daughter received this book for her 2nd birthday (in 1998) and could recite it soon after. Unfortunately at some point she spilled something all over it and the pages stuck together and ripped. I had thrown it away and forgotten about it, until the other day when I was watching an old videotape of her, and there she was, saying "Slug was very greedy, he really loved to eat...". This book uses creative vocabulary and simple rhyme to tell a very cute little story. From reading the other reviews of this book, I wonder what kind of marketing genius it would take to get this book reprinted? I WANT IT (and so do other parents!)!!

I Love Slug
I am dying! This is the best book ever. My little boy loves it - but he's wearing it out. We found Brain Cell, but can't find the others in the series. If anybody knows where these books are - I will buy about 20 copies of each!

A fun slug book
This is a book about a slug that eats anything green. The story is fun, the meter is good, the rhyming is enjoyable. (No, I did not get it for any kid, I bought the book for myself!)

Best cancer book I read
I spent all of 1999 dealing with breast cancer. Aside from Dr. Susan Love's Breat Book, this was the singularly most helpful book I read, even though I read it after I was through with breast cancer, if ever one is. It was direct, personal, spoke concretely from experience, and rang true, even though each person's experience differs. These women offer a great gift amidst the large selection of cancer books.Cannot recommend highly enough, and friends, I read a heck a of a lot of cancer books this year!

A different voice
When my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer several weeks ago, I began the search to find books that offered more than just descriptions of symptoms and treatments. While those are useful for her for now, I needed something more. This book was beautiful--and I would recommend it for anyone. Each woman is in a different stage, has taken a different route, and comes from a different spiritual perspective. The words were healing and I know I will refer back to them time and again. Each writer truely gave a gift.

A woman centered approach the the diagnosis of Breast Cancer
Susan Kuner, et al. have managed to craft the quintessential cancer guide by women for women. I wish I'd had this book at hand when my best friend was diagnosed in 1995. So many of the hard questions she asked were thoughtfully and brilliantly answered by the four women who shared their personal experiences and the answers they found in this marvelous book.

Women approach illness and the possibility of death with a completely different mindset than their male counterparts. Going to war against a disease does not come naturally for most women, and the gentle, philosophical thoughts offered by Kuner, et al should be required reading with any woman facing a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Bravo! Marvelous writing, and even better advice. Thank you for creating such a worthwhile project.

Chilling
One year ago in Plover, Wisconsin, Maddie Christopher had been attacked by a serial killer known as the "Sweet Dreams Killer". People believed his name to be Natas Sivel. He killed mainly women. His victims' bodies were crushed, the heart drained of blood, and not a single outside wound. He almost had Maddie. But her father, Cassidy, saved her in time. While Natas was too weak from the battle, the police imprisoned him...away from the other prisoners. Now, one year later, the killer escaped!

Natas Sivel was really a demon. He was kept buried, asleep, under an oak tree called The Protector, in a music box. But someone hated Cassidy Christopher enough to dig it up and release the demon held within. The demon's sole purpose was to destroy Cassidy, the property owner, by destroying the women he loved.

Maddie and Cassidy had a psychic connection. Cassidy's friend, Officer Kevin Sheridan (who had been first on the scene with Maddie a year ago) called it "hocus pocus stuff". The only other person with a connection to the Christophers was Maddie's best friend, Robyn Warren. When the demon went after Maddie again, she called Robyn. Robyn got Cassidy to go to his daughter while she jumped on a plane and flew toward them.

The demon saw the attraction between Robyn and Cassidy. He saw them fall in love. So the demon wanted Robyn, as well as, Maddie. Only their love could save them and put the demon back inside the music box, to sleep.

**** WOW! Here is a dark romance book. If not for the romance, I'd label it Horror! It sent chills up my spine the entire time! Fantastic reading! ****

Superb!
"Superb! Karen Wiesner's SWEET DREAMS is a roller coaster ride of breath-catching romance and plunging terror. The book kept me up until dawn and not just because it was an excellent read, but because I was too frightened to close my eyes! This paranormal is both haunting and memorable. Definitely a must read!" -Angelica Hart author of THE GATHERING

Shades of THE WITCHING HOUR!
"The evil presence in Sweet Dreams is tangible from page one. The main characters are instantly sympathetic, and we don't need to get inside the head of the bad guy to "get" his motivation. Shades of The Witching Hour--seduction and terror--kept me up for hours so I could get to the end. Karen Wiesner structures an intricately woven tale that leaves one panting for more." -author Natalie Damschroder

More than 300 fully updated and contemporary factory tours
Collaboratively researched and written by the husband & wife team of Karen Axelrod and Bruce Brumberg, Watch It Made In The U.S.A.: A Visitor's Guide To The Companies That Make Your Favorite Products is a unique and very highly recommended travel guide featuring more than 300 fully updated and contemporary factory tours and corporate visitor centers and exhibitions from Dole in Hawaii, to the Jelly Belly Center in Wisconsin, to Cruzan Rum in the U.S. Virgin Islands. From product exhibits ranging from the Jell-O Gallery in New York to the Kool-Aid "Discover the Dream" in Nebraska, Watch It Made In The U.S.A. offers colorful descriptions of the tours, admission fees (which are often free!), days and hours of accessibility, age and group requirements, disabled access, and more. This newly revised and expanded edition includes a Caribbean section as well as information when there are other nearby attractions to the showcased factor and exhibit sites.

Very good information
This book is for anyone that travels on the roads of the U.S.A. If you are one to do road trips and you like visiting places "on the way" or "out of the "way", this book can help you plan your trip. Do a "tour theme" vacation and see as many tours as you can heading towards your destination or heading back home. It not only allows you to see how things are made that are household products with which you are very familiar, but planning your trip around these tours allows you to see more of the country that you probably wouldn't have seen if you stayed on the Interstates. I travel in a RV and was sorry I didn't obtain this book before leaving on a recent trip to the West Coast, for there were a few that were close that I wasn't aware of. No one book has it all but this book, along with AAA tour books is a plus.

Very Fun! Makes traveling interesting!
When we are planning trips, this is one of our standard reference books. Watching some of these things being made is great fun. In fact, it is not uncommon for us to go out of our way to see some factory and we have always been glad we have done so.

This book is well organized and well written. It is easy to understand. The facts in this book are well researched. I know for a fact that there are some tours that are not listed in this book. However, that doesn't mean this book isn't worth every penny, it is.

Enjoy.

I loved this book!!!
After reading "A Moment of Weakness", I didn't think Karen Kingsbury could have written a better book. Boy,was I wrong! "When Joy Came to Stay" is such a wonderful read! I never knew what depression was all about, but now I feel I understand it better, and have deep sympathy for anyone that has ever gone through it.
Please read this book! You'll be glad you did!

Pure Devotion and Pure Joy
When Christ enters our lives, it's a feeling you will never forget. Christ worked a wonderful miracle for Ben and Maggie. Maggie shut down her heart to her husband and to Christ. She had such a massive secret and deep depression, she shut her whole world out. Is what Maggie finds out is, Christ did not shut her out. He helped her through her feelings about her daughter as well as her husband. Kingsbury once again does a tremendous job on a novel. Depression does happen to Christians. Kingsbury shows us with the Lords strength and scripture, He does lead us to joy. This is an incredible story of Maggie and Ben Stovell, then enters Amanda, Maggies daughter she gave up for adoption years ago. Ben thought he married a wonderful, pure virgin. If it wasn't for the dedication and devotion from her husband Ben,and Orchards Hospital, Maggie would have been lost. Through Christ they both learned to forgive each other and find Joy in the end. This novel sends a strong message about depression and how Christ never leaves us, even if you think you have left Him. Get your tissues ready!

When Joy Came to Stay
Excellent book. Karen Kingsbury is the best christian writer that I have read in a long time. I would recomment all her books to anyone. You can't help feeling blessed and full of faith and hope after you read her books.

Inspiring
A scattered family is drawn together when the father dies. Four sisters, a brother, and their grieving mother are forced to face the past demons that haunt them and have made them a most disfunctional family in this moving, tear jerking novel. Sibling rivalry, temptation, and buried secrets come against this family as long held resentments are forced to the surface and arguments and tempers flare over the smallest things.

Amidst this ballistic scenario, one of the sisters, Ellen, is reunited with a lost love, at the worst possible time. Her marriage is troubled and she is angry and hurt by her husband's behavior. Finding the man she has always loved again is a temptation almost too great to bear, especially as her family crumbles around her.

Yet, despite all the negative forces, a more powerful one is interceding to work to make all things come together for the good. A new prayer chain encircles this grieving clan in the hope that the power of it will repel the forces of darkness that they have each allowed to enter their heart.

Everyone who has ever lost someone they love or been involved in family contentions will identify with someone in this book. Powerful, realistic, and moving, this novel will inspire you with the power of prayer and love. Reviewed by Amanda Killgore.

Couldn't put it down.
As with all books by Karen Kingsbury, I was unable to put it down. I've concluded several of her books at 2:00 a.m. when I had to get up at 6:00 because I needed to know how the characters would make it through the tough situations. You won't be disappointed.

Can't go wrong with a Karen Kingsbury book
This book makes one re-evaluate their own family and sibling relationships. Everyone sees every situation differently depending on their personality and place in the family order, but this books reminds us all to be careful not to let jealous thoughts and misinterpreted feelings stand in the way of those you love. This novel is very touching and like all the other Karen Kingsbury novels, makes you cry in many different places. God has blessed the writing in this novel and will use it to speak to you.
