Simply a stunning and beautiful book!
Helen Gibb has once again prepared a book that not only teaches the art of ribbonwork, but is an eye appealing treasure, blending directions for creating ribbonwork pieces of today with those of the past. Beautiful examples of past treasures have been painstakingly arranged and photographed. The book is enjoyable to peruse just to marvel at the beautiful antique pieces she displays. Her love of the antique handwork is evident and her work is tasteful and eye appealing. Helen's first ribbonwork book was beautiful and her new book is another example of her high quality and standard.

Oceans of Information and Pictures
I have been pouring over this book ever since I received my autographed copy. This book is a must for anyone interested in silk ribbon embroidery or silk ribbon embellishment. Not only are the instructions clear and concise, but the book is dripping with photos of vintage and modern works alike. The variety of projects is sure to meet everyone's needs, with the photos providing endless ideas for using the techniques. Helen has created a masterpiece in this book.

The Best of the Best!
This book is really one of the best I have read about ribbon work. I do have Helen's other book on Ribbon Flowers also.Just could not wait for her Ribbonwork. I looked it over cover to cover and want to make everything in the book. She has a wide variety of heirlooms to make and they are fantastic. I love the Victorian era and this book is truly inspirational.Helen's teaching certainly makes it easy to make heirlooms as a gift or for yourself. They are absolutely magnificent!

TINA'S BOOK REPORT
Karen's Kitty cat club was a great story written by ANN M.MARTIN. This fiction story was a fascinating book. I give it five stars out of five.

The author told me about a kitty cat club. The story explained the rules in running a cat sitters club.

In the kitty cat club Karen wants to be the vice -president. She thinks she should because she came up with the idea for the club. Amanda has a cat named Priscilla and is Karens friend. Hannie is Karens best friend and she likes cats but never owned one. Then one day she decided to get a cat and she named it Pat.

Karens, Hannie, and Amanda now have a kitty cat club. They have meetings on Saturday afternoons. They bring their cats to Karen's house and discuss if anyone got a phone call from someone that wanted a cat sitter.

This story was interesting because there were lots of surprising parts in the story. I thought the kitty cat club would get a lot of customers but it didn't work out that way.

This story was well written because it was easy to understand. It was a fun topic and I recommend this book to those who like animals and who enjoy being part of a club. I think other kids would enjoy reading this book because it kept my attention and interest.

it's for all ages
this book is for people who like cats!

Another Treasure from the Creator of Pooh
In 1925 A.A. Milne wrote this charming story and now Isabel Bodor Brown has added her utterly delightful illustrations and the people at Dutton Children's Books crafted all this magic into a darling of a book. The book itself is a beauty, a compact little volume with lavender covers that are speckled with little yellow flowers and a spine stamped in gold. The dust jacket is embossed with gold letters and features the sweet little Princess Daffodil framed in flowers with a beautiful pink dress and a smiling face. Before we even get to page one we are captivated by this engaging child. The story is at times gently humorous and at others it is wistful.
Daffodil's christening gift from her Fairy Godmother is the ability to grow flowers wherever she steps. The King doesn't think this is too practical and limits her access to the grounds. She wants to run and play freely like other children and in the end a happy solution is found. The illustrations are just brimming with delicate beauty and glorious colors. Daffodil is a little wonder and the fairies in the book are satisfyingly magical with gossamer wings and hair, while the Queen is a delicate beauty as a Queen should be. I love everything about this book.

A Magic Story
The Magic Hill is an old fashioned fairy tale, complete with a happily ever after ending about a young princess who makes flowers grow wherever she walks. A.A. Milne wrote this delightful story 75 years ago, but it is as fresh and charming now, as I'm sure it was then. The illustrations by Isabel Bodor Brown are very special, beautifully drawn and compliment the text. An old story that will become a new classic. The Magic Hill is a treasure for the whole family to enjoy again and again.

Splendid!
A beautifully written, wonderfully illustrated work. My daughter and son both loved it.

Mexican Country Stlye
Mexican Country Style was received as a a Christmas gift in December, 2000. Originally used as a "coffee-table" book, once I started to read the descriptions with each photograph I was hooked. Not only will you be able to navigate the architectural terminology like a pro, you will also get a glimpse of the past as only a tourist does when he travels with a guide from the area. Joe and Karen's personal travels' are documented with breathtaking color photos and detailed accounts of their visits into the heart of Mexico. Once you begin reading the book, you will not want to put it down until the very last page!! Mexican Country Style is a great read and an educational journey for the soul.

The definitive book on Mexican country decor!
Beautifully photographed with a pallete of colors that invite you to decorate a small space or an entire home. Mexican Country Style is the definitive volume for those of us who seek southwestern/south of the border interior design, furnishings and accessories. Sumptuous photos that invite you to sit down with a margarita and explore this comfort feel decorating style. Authors, Witynski and Carr, have an enthusiastic love and flare for this style decorating and this book showcases their skills.

A Stylish Presentation on Style
With the proliferation of websites offering Mexican furniture, it has become difficult to tell the real from the ersatz - and especially when it comes to antique furniture, and in the colonial style. The authors have taken all of the doubt out of the search process through an amazing inventory of furniture, accessories, and hints for discovering provenance. It's a must-read for those considering furnishing and decorating their homes in the Mexican style.

It is also an important companion volume to Mexicolor; and to those years-ago titles published by Architectural Publishing.

For the would-be the hunter of these pieces, however, this book makes one fact quite clear. The treasure troves are to be found outside the major Mexican cities, out in the provinces. But with the skills to be learned in this book, the search will be more rewarding.

Destined to become a classic of American literature
This book achieves the perfect blend of storytelling, historical research, compassion, and artistry. Drawing from the primary documents (the letters are reproduced in the book), Winnick creates a fully believable context for the touching exchange between the President and a little girl we can all relate to. She presents an example of how to use our imagination to travel through time by studying our cultural heritage. The illustrations perfectly match the narrative, rich with detail. Our two year old daughter already loves hearing the story told while seeing the pictures. I can't wait to see her read it for herself. This book will be passed on for generations.

wonderful
Mrs. Winnick brings magic to the Abraham Lincoln legacy. This book is a must for all children. I highly recommend this book for all parents to buy and read to their kids. It will not only provide hours of entertainment, but it will bring parents and their children closer together each time they read it.

Unbelievable Artistry
While Mrs. Winnick's storytelling ability proves to be far beyond what the average children book writer is able to communicate, I found the oil paintings delightful and engrossing. Mrs. Winnick displays a true talent for the arts and really knows how to provide for children interesting and educational tales about our country's history. I highly recommend purchasing this book and sharing Mrs. Winnick's magic with your children.

A witty, sensitive read
Okay, I admit it, I'm hooked on Karen Kendall books. I know when I pick up one of her stories I'm going to find entertaining characters, intriguing plots, and outrageous turns of phrase that keep me smiling long after I've turned the last page. In 'I've Got You Babe,' strait-laced art history professor Vanessa Tower finds herself manipulated into teaching the grandson of a famous artist about his grandfather's work. The grandson,"Crash" Dunmoor, has spent much of his life, climbing, kayaking, and parachuting out of planes--anything to avoid the legacy of his grandfather. There's lots of witty fun in this story of two very different people forced to work together. But there's also a great deal of depth and intelligence in the characters, their issues, and the increasing attraction between them. Terrific!

Fun and Sexy
Prim and proper professor Vanessa learns to take walk on the wild side with "Crash" Dunmoor and finds true love. This is a book for everyone who loves to laugh and cry and fall in love. Ms.Kendall delivers a great read with humor and heart. Buy it today!

Another winner from author Karen Kendall
Karen Kendall shines yet again in I'VE GOT YOU BABE. This author knows how to make you laugh out loud while at the same time say awwww over the really sweet and poignant ways her very disparate characters discover themselves and each other.

"Crash" is a hunk to die for, and Vanessa the kind of woman we all wish we could be. Definitely two people (and a book) you don't want to miss.

I'm eagerly anticipating Ms. Kendall's next book.

Wonderfully written and full of magic!
I adore this book. My mother bought it for me when I was in Primary School and I still have it and read it often. Once I start reading it, I cant put it down and often read it twice in a row. It has such a delicious mystery to it, a search for treasure, a lost doll, living with a limp and the problems of sharing with irritating cousin Valerie, which drove me to distraction. The lovely description of the way of life in the North after the civil war is an education and sets a beautiful back ground to the story. I was enchanted by the wonderful family of dolls and would recommend it to anyone. It is definitely my favourite book!

Amazing Book!
This was an AMAZING book! The author pulls you in and you forget everything else. After I read this book about a girl who's dollhouse characters help her recover from an injury I started to play in my own dollhouse. Just last night I really felt like reading this book again. It is a beautifully written book with a captivating plot. This is a book that you should DEFINITELY read.

Captivating!
This is one of my all time favorite books. Im 18 and still pick up this book and read it when I feel the need to escape to an enchanting world. I've read this book so much its sadly lost its cover. It inspired me to start up my own heirloom dollhouse with its very own 'real' doll family . A GREAT book. The sequal "When the Dolls Woke" is also a treat to read.

Just as much fun as a Nancy Drew mystery!
What a fun read! I loved seeing all the old pictures, and was amazed by the "behind the scenes" intrigue of the Nancy Drew publishing syndicate. Plunkett-Powell really tracked down the many Carolyn Keenes, in true "sleuth style." Anyone who ever stayed up late reading their Nancy Drews with a flashlight under the covers will absolutely love this book.

Nancy Drew collectors MUST HAVE this book!
This was the best and most well-researched book I've ever read about Nancy Drew. Not only does Ms. Plunkett-Powell "introduce" us to the REAL Carolyn Keene -- Mildred Wirt Benson -- but she gives us a history of how the idea for Nancy Drew was born and some of the politics involved in it for Wirt when Stratmeyer died and his daughter, Harriet, took over everything and tried to control too much of the writing. We learn which NDs weren't written by Wirt, and how much of the writing was changed as well as the covers.

She tells collectors how to know the worth of their stash. She goes through each of the characters and their start with the series. She even talks about the TV show and MOVIES in the 1930s that were made -- more for the fun of it than to truly showcase the books. Info about Russell Tandy, the illustrator of the early books and the first to design covers, also is described.

She hasn't forgotten anything. It's truly a work of genius for the Nancy Drew collector, a "must have" for all of us!

The Mystery of Nancy Drew's Ghostwriter...solved!
...and other fascinating background trivia for the queen-of-teen-sleuth buffs! I'm not a true Nancy Drew fan, I'm a bookseller with a mercenary interest in the vintage teenage sleuth, but this book almost made me a believer! The author approaches her subject matter with the infectious enthusiasm of the true fan, and delves into carefully guarded mysteries of secret ghostwriter identities, Riverview's true location, and other gems of trivia too numerous to cite, with a determination and verve Nancy herself would be proud of! Fun to read, captivating, and informative to the collector and bookseller alike! (and by the way, the writing is adult-level, not 4-8 yrs., as the description implies!)
