A Woman's Pain
Finding relief from pain is sometimes a desperate struggle. Often it seems that some physicians and other health care practitioners take the easy way out and will throw low level narcotic relief at you with the hope that you will just go away. Its cheap, easy, and eff... well two out of three isn't bad. At other times they will deny your pain experience, and invalidate your suffering, especially, if you are a woman. The very complexity of the pain experience is often ignored.

WOMEN AND PAIN: WHY IT HURTS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO is both amazing and helpful. The authors discuss traditional methods of pain relief and control as well as alternative methods. The explanations of both vitamin and herbal aids for pain relief and the many other methods are elegantly expressed in plain, simple language that can be understood by anyone.

WOMEN AND PAIN: WHY IT HURTS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO is a masterful work about pain relief for women for this new millennium.

Very Helpful Book
Dr. Youngs new book "Women And Pain..." led me to a life which someone like me would only dream of: a life with no pain. This book is the best book I ever bought. I suffered from migrains and back pain for over 7 years and the pain vanished after about 2 1/2 weeks of trying Dr. Youngs methods, I tried almost every other method out there and this is the only one that worked!

Now I am Pain Free!
After about 2 weeks of trying Dr. Youngs methods I was pain free. I wish I had bought this book sooner. This book is packed with complementary, holistic and traditional remedies for almost any type of pain you can think of.

Best Book In My Collection
I have to agree whole-heartedly with others who have given top recommendations for this book. It was recommended to me while I was at a training seminar and has fast become the most used book on my shelf. It really has something for every occaision.

One of the very best things about the book is that it is more than just a collection of trainer games (not that there is anything wrong with those books), but it has a million tips and ideas that can be added to any training. I think this is a must have for any trainer.

MEANINGFUL activities
This is the best collection of meaningful activities I've come across. All the activities are designed to achieve a purpose and are right on target. The pages are designed so that you can easily follow and understand the activities that are grouped into application area or need.

The book covers active training techniques for team building, stimulating discussion, on-the-spot assessments, stimulating discussions, prompting questions, and reviewing strategies. There are quite a few more, as well a section in the beginning with 'tips' for the trainer, like learning names, timesavers, role-playing, setting-up the training room, etc.

You will hardly ever conduct a training that will not benefit from a quick peek into this book and the ideas and suggestions included.

A Master reference
This book is a fantastic resource for all trainers and no training bookshelf should be without it. The activities are targeted, relevant to the subject matter and guranteed to produce the desired results. You will not find any 'wishy-washy' activities and games here nor will you catch yourself yawning as you turn the pages. It's quite the opposite in fact; this book is so well written and well presented, that you just might find yourself going through all the 101 activities! And while you're at it, why don't you check 'Active Training' by Mel Silberman as well - it's a gem of a book...

Don't hesitate, this is one purchase you will never regret.

It's my favorite book!! My mom and dad like it too.
I am 1. Almost 2. I love Beach Day and ask to read it first thing every morning and then again before I go to bed. During the day I like to sit in my chair and read it to my baby doll. The pictures are great to look at and I like to name all the objects on the inside front and inside back covers. Each page has more pictures full of things to look at and perfect for a toddler like me who is just learning the names of every thing in this very interesting world. Since we got this book at the library, it's been renewed. But my birthday is coming up, so I hope to get my very own copy soon. Enjoy reading this beautiful book!

simply delightful!
I'll be honest with you - I bought this book for me! The rhyme and watercolors are truly a magical combination. What a great start for a first time author! The best part is that my two year old loves it just as much as I do!

Enjoyable even after reading it 40+ times to your toddler!
We checked this book out from the library and my 19 month-old daughter LOVES it!! (So now I am buying it) She wants to read it again and again and referred to it when we went to the ocean recently! The illustrations are cheerful, multi-cultural and fun. The text is rhythmic and enjoyable to read aloud. (Also, I couldn't find it in the brick and mortar book stores) This book about a day at the beach is a fun read for toddlers!

My Favorite Children's Book
I am an elementary school counselor and read this book to second graders. They love the comparisons of skin colors to foods, and it leaves everyone feeling good about the way they look. It is a strong multicultural book, but the presentation is very subtle, and not preachy.

Great Book
This book is a great!A modern, hip book for all ages. The wonderful world of Color comes to life in all the Colors of People! My 4 year old loves the yummy discriptions of the book and learns to respect the differences in all of us. Thanks Karen Katz for writing and illurtating a great book. We hope more iwll follow

Great book
This is a wonderful book to introduce children to the concept of multiculturalism. I am white, my husband is Mexican and my daughters are dark like my husband. It is wonderful to see a book with a white mother and dark daughter, and it's wonderful to see all the different colored characters. My 4-year-old loves this book and I love reading her a story with a character she can relate to. I highly recommend it.

Perfect Romance!!!!!!!!!
WOW! I can't beleive I was so lucky as to come across this book! It is a great love story. I cried, I laughed, I bit my nails, I sighed and I got exasperated. I read the book in less than 12 hours (including a few hours of sleep and classes in between).
This story is about Nic Stone, a Fae. He's as hot as they come and as nice and as gentlemen-ish as they dont make anymore, (if that makes sense). He fell in love with a mortal and since he's inmortal he feared she would grow old and die and leave him, thus he goes to Titania (big mistake) in order to ask Titania to make Anna (Nic's wife) be inmortal. Titania agrees, but she doesnt tell Nic that in order for Anna to become inmortal she has to die and be reborn. 25 years later Nic thinks he has found Anna in Dianna, a famous, (and in my opinion a spoiled brat, but nice in her own way), singer. That is until he faces Stacey, Dianna's sister, and begins to wonder how's it possible that Stacey ignites in him a fire that only his wife Anna could ignite, and Dianna doesn't. The story is beautiful and heartwarming. I loved every minute of it and my only regret is that there wasn't more!

delightfully whimsical and amusing fantasy romance
Faery Nic Stone loves his mortal wife Anna so much so that he begs Fae Queen Titania to confer immortality on his beloved spouse. Titania consents to perform the deed if Nic paints her portrait. However, Titania plays a trick on Nic by not informing him at the time of the agreement that Anna had to die in order to be reborn an immortal.

Twenty-five years later, Nic thinks he finally located his Anna who uses the name Dianna Fielding, a renowned singer. Nic attains a gardening position on Dianna's estate where her sister Stacy also lives. Though Nic is certain that Dianna is his love, he finds himself attracted to Stacy. Nic must tell the real Anna "I love you" to the real Anna or become Titania's slave, the other stipulation in their deal.

CUPID'S MELODY, the sequel to the PRINCE OF CHARMING, is a delightfully whimsical and amusing fantasy romance. The story line will charm the audience especially when those wild pixies take center stage though they do distract from the prime plot. The strength of this tale resides with the characters. Readers will adore the endearing Nic as he faces a dilemma that could mean his existence and hiss at the mischievously devious Titania who always has one more trick up her sleeves. The two sisters are interesting as they cause readers to share with Nic his predicament. Karen Fox enchants her audience with this enjoyable reading happening.

Harriet Klausner

Unique twist on reincarnation theme!
Nic Stone learns the hard way that you must be careful what you wish for, lest you get it. One of the Faery, he has fallen in love with a mortal, and is determined to love Anna for all time. However, when he asks the jealous queen, Titania to grant his love eternal life, he is not aware that the price is her life. She must die and be reborn, and her new incarnation will have no recollection of Nic. For them to be together forever, Nic must find Anna and win her heart all over again. If he fails, he will lose her for all time, and be Titania's slave.

When at last Nic believes he has found Anna (Diana), he is in a quandry. It is Diana's sister, Stacy, who is slowly winning his heart. Yet, despite this, he is determined to best the queen, and to have the woman he believes is his lost soul mate. Though it hurts, Stacy is equally determined to help, once she knows the truth. That does not change the love they feel for one another though. Is an eternity with one love worth the loss of a truer one?

***** With a unique twist on the reincarnation theme, Ms. Fox recreates the legend of Tam Lin, a mortal woman battling the queen of the Fair Folk for her lover's heart. You will truly feel both the lightness of the general story as well as the tragic circumstances that seem to be conspiring against the lovers' happiness. *****

Stories that would be lost without this excellent book.
I am interested in stories of older persons who languish in nursing homes. Morgan's book tells these stories of older persons that would never see the light of day if he hadn't recorded them. We lose a library when an older person dies and their stories die with them. These FAITH STORIES FROM THE NURSING HOME preserve incredible stories of people who live outside the city walls, and often are perceived as lepers. It needs to be read by anyone interested in human beings.

A Book for Unappreciated Nursing Assistants
I have served as a chaplain in a Nursing Home and the unheralded heroes/heroines are the nursing assistants. Grossly unpaid, usually unappreciated, they do the "dirty" work that others avoid. Morgan's book is one I recommend to CNAs, so they can realize the value of their work as a ministry, not just a job. Many have told me that it helped affirm them, create a feeling of value in what they do, and make them feel more appreciated. For that reason it is a book caregivers need to have.

Book to Share with Family Members of Nursing Home Residents
I work with nursing home residents and often find myself trying to explain our work to family members. They don't seem to understand that good things happen here, as well as some of the bad things. Morgan's book shows the flip side of nursing homes....that it is a place of joy and courage, as well as a place of pain and suffering. I recommend this book to family members so they can get a better picture of what we do for this growing population of older people.

Heros come in all shapes and sizes
This story is based on a true story of rescue and a mother cat's love. I purchased this story for my six year old who is just starting to learn how to read. She is loves animals and would like to become a vet someday at least for now. I heard the story on the news several years ago when it acutally happend. I fell in love with Scarlet because of how she showed the world that even cats can be heros.

Reading Specialist Praises Scarlett
As a reading specialist at a large elementary school, I was delighted to discover The Bravest Cat! The True Story of Scarlett. It is a wonderful book for children (and adults!)
of all ages. It paints a very real picture of a wonderful mother cat and her family. It is well written with a flowing
sequence of events. This book can be used as a teaching tool with any age child, not only for reading content but also as a
model for writing. I also thought the art work was beautiful
and was particularly touched by the picture on the final page.
This book has been chosen to be a paperback theme book for our
latest reading adoption series. I think that alone proclaims its quality and high value. I really would like more information on the real Scarlett. News stories, etc. that offer support would be great. This is a must read book for all animal lovers!

WONDERFUL!
My daughter and I LOVE this book! What courage! We saw the story of Scarlett on Reading Rainbow and fell in love with her. She's an inspiration for courage and is a great example of the wonders and wonderful creations of the Lord Jesus!

Cold and Pure and Very Dead: A Karen Pelletier Mystery

Solid entertainment
Have you read Peyton Place? If so, you will particularly enjoy
Dobson's take on the (by today's standards) mild expose of
small-town sex and scandal and Professor Karen Pelletier's involvement
in the book's resurrection (and its author's incarceration).

If the
series were only concerned with Pelletier's sleuthing skills, I never
would have made it through the first (let alone the fourth)
book. Dobson's real talent is in presenting a genuinely likeable
character who has a great job, fun friends, and intriguing
possibilities for her personal life. Karen Pelletier is such a
compelling character that the reader forgives the occasional bit of
sloppy writing and the contrived plot devices that pepper the
series.

The Karen Pelletier mysteries are as addictive as
movie-theater popcorn. If you like them, try the Kate Fansler
mysteries by Amanda Cross (which set the standard for this genre),
Veronica Stallwood's Kate Ivory novels, and Edith Skom's Beth Austin
novels. I've recently discovered but not yet had the time to read two
other authors in this genre: Carole Bugge and J.S. Borthwick.

Good mystery, great characters
College Professor Karen Pelletier sets off a whirlwind when she nominates Obsession Falls, a 1950s sex novel, as book of the century. Before the excitement dies, a reporter tracking down the author is killed and the author accused. Karen doesn't believe the evidence and investigates. Could the mostly forgotten (until Karen reminds the world of its existance) semi-autobiographical novel bare secrets someone didn't want exposed?

Author Joanne Dobson does an excellent job describing Karen's working environment: the strange relationship between faculty and departmental secretary, and the infighting and semi-friendships amongst professors jealous of one another's success. More importantly, she gives Karen a history--broken loves, a family to whom she cannot go back, a daughter now grown and moving out on her own, and all of the little fears that make a person fully human. Once she makes us love Karen, Dobson throws her into danger. How can we help our response? (Answer, we can't--just sit back and enjoy it).

You may guess the killer fairly early but you'll want to stay with the novel to make sure Karen survives and to see how she uncovers the truth.

Highly recommended.

Dobson should be more popular
The mix of academic world and mystery--with high-brow elements and down-to-earth humor--in her Karen Pelletier stories should be compelling more readers toward Joanne Dobson. I discovered these mysteries after searching for something with a central female character and experiencing great disappointment from some other, better-selling authors. This is one of Dobson's best!

Great stash buster!
Based on a simple split 9-patch, Karen's designs serve only to whet your appetite for more. The book includes pictures and instructions for 18 projects, plus a literally endless source of inspiration for future quilts. If you have been a conservative quilter, using three fabrics and a background, this is a great way to break into the world of multi-fabric quilts. You will learn to judge your fabrics by their value (light or dark) and it will improve your quiltmaking skills for other kinds of designs, too. This book is completely different from Karen's Optical Illusions for Quilters but every bit as enjoyable.

An absolute Must!
A terrific book, chock full of ideas for using up all your scraps using simple 9 patch designs! Great for beginners and wonderful for all of us who have been quiltmaking for years. This book makes you want to run to the fabric store and buy even more fat quarters to add to your stash. The color photographs are wonderful, as are the directions. You will keep this book handy at all times for inspiration!

Make Every Scrap Count
Here are some excerpts from my review of this book. You can see the complete review (and many other reviews of quilting books and quilting products) on the Quilter's Review website.

"...Karen Combs' new book...shows you how to use your scraps to make quick and easy quilts.... Karen has reworked some standard block patterns in a larger format to create designs that are traditional, yet have a contemporary feel. Using only four different versions of a nine-patch block, Karen presents many different looks from which to choose.

"Since all the nine-patch blocks use just one or two easy shapes, a quilter of any skill level can make all 17 quilts shown in the book.

"...Once you have the blocks made, Karen encourages you to play with the layout of the blocks. The blocks can go together in endless combinations, so you never have to make the same quilt twice, even though you are making the same blocks again and again....

"But you don't need to use scraps for these striking quilts. The projects in Karen's book work well with fat quarters, charm packs or fabrics you swap at your quilt guild.

"And these wonderful scrap quilts are perfect for using that fabric you bought because you liked it at the time but, on re-examination, can't imagine why. Everything works in Karen's quilts.

"In addition to her "combing" techniques, Karen also covers fabric values, rotary cutting, piecing, and block layout.... 'Combing Through Your Scraps' is a great book for beginners as well as for scrap-rich experts."

This book is hot!
out of all the books I have read by Karen Robards, this must be one of the best. The plot was an intricate one, weaved around a handsome rake with a chip on his shoulder, a beautiful lady who has a temper, isolated beaches and a tempestuous love on the sunny island of Barbados...What more could you want, really?

Definitely Desirable!
My 4th by Karen Robards, and so far, definitely one of the best! I couldn't put it down - The main characters were very interesting and the story was fast-paced, action-packed, compelling and in no way predictable. If you like Karen Robards, you will NOT be dissapointed! READ IT!

A historical page turner
I have read all of Karen Robards' books and of her historical romances Desire in the Sun is the cream of the crop. The characters are believeable and react to problems appropretly. Leila is young and she acts like a young woman without the benifit of worldly experience. Joss is one of Robards best male characters he has a reason to hate Leila but he still has the capacity to love her.
