Wonderful authentic arrangements of Austrian folk tunes!
Every tune in this book is beautiful! They are authentic and fun to play. The titles are in Austrian with English translations and also the phonetic pronunciation for the Austrian. The music is from various provinces in Austria and include waltzes, marches, mazurkas, polkas, and laendlers. I love the harmonies! The book also comes with a nice comb binding so it lays flat on the music stand.

Very nice fiddle renditions of traditional tunes.
These are delightful fiddle arrangements of every kind of danish folk dance. The harmonies are wonderfully authentic. You'll enjoy quadrilles, waltzes, reinlanders, polkas, hopsas, toturs, trekants and more. Some are well known and others are more obscure but all of them are really great fun! For both beginners and advanced fiddlers.

A book to stretch your faith and your mind.
This is a great book for those who enjoy the intellectual as well as spiritual side of Christianity. I have always enjoyed the "study" of my faith, and this book gives you lots to think about. Using examples from modern life, references to great Christian writers such as C.S. Lewis and Dietrich Bonhoffer, and a study of the scriptures, Dr. Inch delves into why we believe what we believe, and the solid foundation we have as Christians. You'll like this book if you enjoy lively discussion and thoughtful debate. With questions following each chapter, this book is excellent as a study on your own, or with a small group of friends.

This book has had a profound influence on my own spiritual development. I recommend it highly. The full impact of its message took a while to sink in to me. That's why I recommend you read it more than once. I've read it a dozen times in two years. It will grow on you more deeply with each reading. Christina guides you on a path of making ever more meaning out of the mystery of life. If you've wondered what it means to become spiritually awake, let Christina guide you. In the book she reveals her own search and her remarkable discoveries about the meaning of life with candor, clarity and compassion.

A plea for a more joyful life
Josef Pieper is probably best known for his book "Leisure: The Basis of Culture." This book on festivity is a good companion to that volume. Pieper discusses festivity's contrast to ordinary, everyday work, but points out that festivity involves more than the absence of labor. Real festivity also requires a quality of spirit which makes enjoyment possible, and that quality of spirit is love. He says, "One who loves nothing and nobody cannot possibly rejoice." The artificial festivals created by business can not possibly regenerate us the way festival is meant to do, because they are rooted in acquisitiveness rather than love and generosity of spirit. This is a beautiful book which will make you want to celebrate something truly festive!

Ireland's Best Session Tunes
Published in Paperback by Mel Bay Publications (1999)

The Best for Learning and Pleasure
Firstly I would like to say that I have been playing the Fiddlefor 11 years and the guitar for 6 so I can't really say I foundthis useful, but I must say the music content in this book is pure quality. When I speak of the book, I am also speaking of the CD that separately accompanies it.(...) The CD's involve Gavin Ralston on the Guitar and Brendan O' Sullivan on the fiddle. As with all the other "Irelands Best:", the music is played with the fiddle as the melody, because it is an interesting instrument to listen to. If you can play the violin and you want to enter the Irish trad scene, well this is the place to start. Forget going to fiddle lessons, this Book will provide you with all the popular tunes (eg. Boys of Bluehill, Toss the feathers). The fiddle playing style is sweet and with constant listening to the CD's and reading the book, you'll be able to play in sessions in no time. Also, with listening to the CD's you will pick up all the ornamentation in no time (eg Rolls, Runs, Cuts and Triplets.). All of what I have said applies to the other editions of "Irelands best:", only I wrote on this one because I am entering a draw as the first reviewer or something. So to finish up, If you'r a pro or a beginner you cant go wrong buying this and come on, it ain't that expensive.

You can play and tap your toes at the same time! Great Book
Irish Dance Tunes for All Harps by Sylvia Woods.

All of Sylvia's harp arrangements have a "high playability" rating with me. Believe me when I say this because I have looked at, and purchased a lot of harp music over the years. No one can arrange for the harp the way Sylvia can! This book is a perfect example of being able to make playable complicated Irish jigs, slip jigs, reels and hornpipes for those of us who are not "professional" harp players. This traditional music gets all of our collective toes tapping. Two introductions are included to help the novice better understand the nature and spirit of Irish dance tunes. I have had a lot of fun, and challenge, from the pieces in this book. It also includes one of my FAVORITE AIRS, Carrickfergus.

Readers of this book quickly learn to play folk tunes and American standards. Experienced ukulele players might be bored with this intro book, but it is perfect for beginners.
