wonderful after you've read a few of Jane's other books
Jane Roberts revolutionized spiritual exploration and Channeling with her Seth books in the 60's and 70's. I had the good fortune to study with Jane in 1974. By that time her channeling had grown sophisticated and focused on the way we create our reality with our conscious beliefs. The books from that time are the place to begin understanding Seth, i.e. Seth Speaks and The Nature of Personal Reality. Possibly this book and the others with the sessions from the early years would be among the last Seth books I would suggest one read, but they are wonderful. For the real Seth fan, they not only elaborate on and anticipate ideas Seth later explains, they have a certain freshness and they contain hints with useful information about directions Jane chose not to go in.

The ultimate philosophy
In this and all the Seth works Seth/Jane take all the mystery out of the mystical ranks that for so many seems to be another ego project ("I'm more spiritually advanced than you are because I saw the edge of the transpersonal realm once when I slipped on a bar of soap in the shower and I can speak ambiguous circles around anybody"). Instead of vague descriptions of nirvanic states from other authors you get matter of factly description of the nuts and bolts of reality. Instead of non-specific meditation techniques you get instructions for accessing psychological time and information on what other planes you might access (dream world) with this procedure. You get a detailed description of reincarnation, the subconscious, inner self and inner senses. Those who don't appreciate Seth either haven't read enough Seth or didn't understand it. I've also run into those 'elitist' types who think that their understanding is above the Seth teaching. These types usually have read only a few quotes or a single book and no background in psychology. I initially read "The Nature of Personal Reality" and didn't think much of Seth until I read "The Seth Material". I've read every Seth work at this point and look forward to the rest of this series. As far as the fact that this is a channeled work. DO NOT let your ego discredit this material because of the source, this is the real deal.

Seth, Jane & Rob Unplugged - Vol 1
In this wonderful little volume, you see Seth, Jane & Rob in a less 'cosmetic' way than you see them in the "Seth Books" per se. For example, Jane used to pace around the room while delivering material from Seth.

The various reincarnational stories Seth gives about people Jane & Rob know (as well as about Jane & Rob themselves) can make for very compelling reading. You may find yourself examining your own life and circumstances (or those of friends and loved ones) looking for the parallels.

There are also fairly detailed "scientific" ideas from Seth on how the physics of reality works. Some readers may want to gloss over these areas.

You will also notice that Seth is a very humorous soul. His affection for Jane & Rob is immense. This volume definitely put a new spin on the Seth books for this reader. Enjoy!

So Glad I Did
It is easy to read and apply the techniques. I don't know how it works but I have been helped tremendously. I was able to break through barriers and check myself on the feeling level of 1 to 10 with any emotional problem I addressed because of the material in this book. If you have an opportunity to meet Jane and Phyllip personally it will be a treat. They are gentle and careing with many years of experience in the field. If not, then you may find the video's helpful. I have attended their review/booksigning and workshops and find it benificial to have both the book and video. The video lets you see "how to" and refers to things in the book. The greatest thing I was impressed with was how easy it is to do and the positive results.

Tapping Your Way to Empowerment...
Getting rid of the pain at the peak of intensity is often hard to do. However, using these simple, easy-to-learn EFT processes illustrated in this book can be applied and the results are usually immediate, unbelievable, and miraculous. It is an automatic reaction for me these days, to use EFT when I am feeling stress or negative emotions. I can often feel the shift of energy taking place and the emotion melting away. Using this technique helps one to detach from the pain to become a neutral observer such that a new awareness about the issue can come forward. The Mountroses also have videotapes and audio tapes that make up a powerful EFT healing package...I also highly recommend their recent book, "Getting Thru to Your Soul,"for those who are on a spiritual path. As a Reiki teacher and practitioner, I have incorporated the EFT techniques and spiritual tools in my practice and have seen students and clients make TREMENDOUS changes at the emotional and spiritual levels, bringing them a strong sense of self empowerment. Hats off to the Mountroses!

Discover inner peace, inner clarity and profound healing
Once in a while a book appears that impacts substantially on your life.To me 'Getting Thru To Your Emotions With EFT' is that book!

Reading this book has been a journey of self discovery bringing in its wake a wonderful and profound sense of inner peace, calm and healing.

The authors in their wisdom have adopted a holistic approach, drawing on a cluster of techniques from EFT and GTT.The results are fast, effective, and truly amazing!

Emotional issues, phobias, fears, and a host of other problems just seem to evaporate with the EFT GTT techniques which are so very simple. I carry the book with me all the time, dipping into it whenever time permits!

A must on the bookshelf of all those looking for meaning and new directions in their lives.

Terrific recipes
This book is yummy. The health-conscious authors offer lots of alternatives for the non-beef eaters among us and their burger toppings are great. The factoids and restaurant mentions that garnish the pages are fun, too. Highly recommended.

Tired of the Same Old Burgers? You'll Love This Book!!
Although I have eaten my share of burgers, I have always thought of them as boring. You grill them, slap on a slice of cheese, a tomato slice, whatever sauce you like and eat on a soft and often tasteless bun.

Well....along comes The Great Big Burger Book and with it a whole new dimension on just what constitutes a burger. Certainly there are the traditional meat (beef, pork, veal and even lamb) burgers, but my interest was piqued by the chapter entitled: Burgers That Take Flight: Chicken, Turkey and Duck. Using ground poultry allows you to cut the fat content of a burger and the recipes don't cut the taste and flavor. I have always enjoyed Chicken Marsala and when I saw the recipe for Chicken Marsala Burgers, I immediately tried it. Your family and guests, not to mention yourself will really like that one. The photo of a Bolognese Turkey Burger with Sun-Dried Tomatoes and Green Olives looks delicious, and I'm happy to report that it also tastes as good as it looks.

But the book doesn't stop there. There is an entire chapter dedicated to burgers made with fish and shell fish. I haven't tried them yet as the weather here in Maine has been just awful this spring, and this type of burger should be cooked outdoors. But there are recipes for lobster and scallop burgers and since I love both, I plan to try them as soon as Mother Nature cooperates.

For vegetarians, there are recipes using portobello mushrooms, falafel, quinoa, tofu, eggplant and chickpeas, to mention a few. That chapter fittingly is entitled: Redefining the Burger.

Admittedly, there are ingredients that may be unfamiliar to the reader. For those people (and I am one), there is a glossary of ingredients and an ingredient source list which tells you where you can find the products that may not be available in your area.

This is a wonderful resource for entertaining. Your guests will be amazed by your culinary expertise when you serve them a healthy burger packed with new flavors. Your backyard menus will never be the same or 'boring' anymore!

Something for everyone!
Talk about variety! I'm a teacher and I save most of my large-group entertaining for the summer, so I HAD to have this book. Now I can get excited about backyard barbeques! This is a must-have for cooks from novice to expert. I'm going to have to buy another one just to lend out to friends.

Get out your M & M's!
Our heroine, Bel, is addicted to M & M's. After all, it's a convenient way of eating chocolate without the mess. She needs a "fix" especially when she's involved in a stressful situation. There's plenty of those in this book and for those of us who could really empathize with the character, there are lots of M & M moments. Ms. Isenberg uses a lot of interesting devices to move the plot along. Most of the chapters start with an e-mail or letter to or from Bel. This lets you in on what's going on without hitting you over the head with it. I like it!

Teacher Bel has a lot of stuff going on in her life. I would have liked a little more about her relationship with Sol. It seems to be relegated to the back burner in this book. This is a character-driven book and the author has created some great characters--most of which would be interesting to meet. The mystery part is a little flimsy but, that can be forgiven because it's fun just reading what Bel and her cohorts are going to do next. I read this book on the plane from Vegas to Dallas and I didn't really mind that the flight was about a half-hour late because I was really into the book.

What a Fun Treat for Mid-Life Fans of Sinatra & Sleuthing!
This book is a total kick to read! It's clever and funny, touching on everything from the dubious joys of planning a transcontinental wedding and the politics of community college life to the taste of fresh zeppoles at the Feast of St. Anne and the curiosities of celebrity impersonation--all wrapped in a satisfying murder mystery. And of course Bel Barrett once again shows us the humorous side of menopause, proving that "off the pill" doesn't mean "over the hill".

Bel and her sharp-eyed, smart-mouth pals Betty and Illuminada don't miss a trick--or a quip--on their way to finding out who did in the Sinatra wannabe. Even Bel's Mom and her octogenarian buddies get into the act, illuminating other wry and warming aspects of getting older while staying young at heart.

This is the third in this delightful series, and author Isenberg grows stronger with each one. Her literate, graceful writing style is a pleasure in itself, but mystery fans will find enough clues, suspects and plot twists to keep them turning pages til the wee hours of the morning. This is just the book to savor while listening to Frank sing "That's Life", "All of Me" or "It Was a Very Good Year". Don't miss "Mood Swings to Murder". It's smooth, sophisticated and sassy--just like Ol' Blue Eyes!

Bel at her Best
Mystery fans will be delighted by the latest escapdes of Bel Barrett. In this case, the Belle of Hobkoen and her menopausal sidekicks solve the murder of a Frank Sinatra impersonator in Blue Eye's hometown. This is the third in the Bel Barrett mystery series, and Jane Isenberg gets better and better with each new book. All her mysteries have wonderful, masterful plots that keep the reader in suspense to the last chapter. Isenberg's characters are round, full of life and lives that the reader can grasp and enjoy. Isenberg is obviously a talented writer, and her prose bristles with humor and intelligence, and for the student of literature the subtle allusions here and there are an extra bit of fun. I wouldn't be surpised if these novels became the basis for a movie or TV series. They are great reads, and I'd love to see Bel's Hoboken on the silver screen. A big fan.

A BEAUTIFUL REMINDER
Not only did I purchase this book, I purchased one for a friend of mine who is a quilter. The quilts and the incredible stories behind them are powerful motivators for those who wish to accomplish anything, not just quilting. It is the triumph of the human spirit and proves that deep down, each of us has an indominable core. I am envious of the skill that these women posessed and of the oral history and cultural traditions which have been created and passed down. It's a reminder of the scope of human potential.

great collection of American Art
I am an Alabama native. I have visited Gee's Bend, Alabama many times, but mainly to EAT!! They have more than pretty quilts in Gee's Bend. I have seen the quilts but because I love quilts and even tried unsuccessully to make one but, not being an expert, I guess I did not appreciate how popular the Gee's Bend quilts would become until I saw the story on CBS's Sunday Morning about the quilts being on display at the Whitney Museum in New York. The current quilters visited the opening at the museum and song those old gospel songs to their many fans.

The book itself is filled with stories and lovely photographs of the quilts. All the quilts are hand-stitched, of course. I couldn't imagine anyone creating such beauty with a needle and thread.

I am so happy I pre-ordered the book from Amazon. It will be a prized part of my collection.

Long Over Due!!!
Congratulations!!!! A few of these women are my aunts and they have been working so hard at this all their lives, I am so happy that they are finally getting the recognition that they deserve. They used to make so many quilts when we were younger and just give them away to family members as Xmas gifts, now they are being hung in museums around the US and I have proudly displayed my childhood quilts so everyone will know just how proud I am of them!!! Now I know the Pettway woman will always be remembered for the proud and strong women they are.

Stopped me in my tracks !
I've long believed in hypnosis/hypnotherapy as an answer for many diseases and ailments. In my search to learn more, and as I begin to work on becoming licensed myself as a hypnotherapist, I found and read Dr. Modi's amazing book. For all that hypnotherapists believe they are a few steps advanced from psychiatry, I now firmly believe that a hypnotherapist merely treating a patient with guided imagery, metaphor, and regression is not enough, and this book (and others dealing with spirit releasement) are the key to unlocking the vast resources within ourselves and our clients. Please give it a read, see if it doesn't make you at least wonder about what more you could be doing. A wonderfully proactive approach to healing, and a life-altering view of the universe presented in a logical and clinical manner.

They're REAL...!
When I first heard about "attachments", it was from Dr. Byron Gentry (author of: "Miracles of the Mind: How to Use the Power of Your Mind for Healing and Prosperity", also featured at Amazon.com), who referred to them as "piggy- back spirits". And I'll have to admit that I was a little skeptical and "queasy" with the concept. But since then, I've had personal experience with attached entities, displaced aspects and thought forms, and I can tell you that there is something to this...

I've read most of this book. (I'm still wading through it...) But I can tell you that it's comprehensive and full of good analysis by Dr. Modhi of her experiences, in addition to being full of case histories.

If you're looking for something "introductory", you may be better off with Dr. Louise Ireland Frey's book, "Freeing the Captives", which is a faster, less comprehensive, but enjoyable read.

But if you're serious about the subject matter, this book is a must...

The Role of Spirit
Dr. Modi delivers a powerful turn in the traditional medical
treatment of mental illness. Documenting the statements of
patients, she discusses seriously the phenomena of
past-life trauma, disincarnate entities and demonic
possession.

Although Modi never claims to a belief in these and other
'supernatural' explanations for difficult and painful mental
diseases, she understands the need to give such
explanations the full respect and acknowledgement that
any physician of the soul would.

We are given the opportunity to explore amazing healings
that occur when an entity or demon is directly addressed
and has therapy of its own, administered to it. We are
allowed to share in the miraculous physical healings that
have occurred when past-life traumas are lifted.

Take a look at some possible spiritual explanations for
the suffering that many of us experience that may now
be alleviated through these enlightened techniques.
Consider the possibility that 21st century healing practices
could provide a cure to ills that were described to the
Church in the 15th century.

Run Jane Run
For 10+ years I've read 2 or more books per week....the 2 "Jane" books are excellent! Characters are true to form & culture, the mystery is enthralling & has enough twists to maintain high interest but without the need to write down people etc in order to keep track. I fervently hope this woman writes more books!

I love Jane Nichols!
In Run Jane Run, the adventure of Jane Nichols is getting more exciting than before. Jane, again, does what she does best as a premium MI-5 agent. If you have read AKA Jane, you know what she is capable to do. In Run Jane Run, she easily does it again. Alex, her lover boy, is as hip as before. Another character that I really like is Joey, Alex's beautiful, blonde, younger sister. She is completely sweet and innocent. I hope her part would be bigger in the coming series. If you like AKA Jane, you would love Run Jane Run. After all, who could resist a beautiful British brunette fighting machine with a mysterious past?

Maureen Tan has taken this genre and made it her own!
"A.K.A. Jane" was the most exciting and definitely the best book in this genre... until "Run Jane Run" came along! This latest book from Maureen Tan is both gripping and believale, building on the strong foundation of "a.k.a.", and yet also stands brillantly on it's own. My two final words : More Please!

I'm already looking forward to Jane S. Smith's next novel
This is the funniest book I've read in ages. It made me laugh out loud so often, I had to stop reading it on the subway for fear of embarrassing myself in public. Jane S. Smith brilliantly lampoons the pseudo-academic and -artistic Americans who flock to Provence in search of career-making inspiration, and the natives who prey on them. But she also has a deep affection for her characters (well, most of them, anyway) that makes this book a thoroughly satisfying novel, not just a chilly satire. She skillfully interweaves the actions of a large cast of characters, and brings them all together at the end in a conclusion worthy of a Victorian novelist. Even the title is clever, in retrospect. It's hard to believe this is a first novel. Please, Ms. Smith -- may we have some more?

Both funny and a page-turner
I would have put it in the academic satire category but strictly speaking it doesn't belong there because the only character to hold a college teaching job gets fired on the first page (two characters go back to graduate school on the last page). Then she goes off to the South of France with her family to write a book. Her children discover a pre-Roman Celtic treasure. Her daughter gets abducted by a child molester. Her husband enters a bicycle race.
It is brilliantly witty about such subjects as eco-feminism and intellectual francophilia but alo carried along by a strong intriguing plot. Wonderful light but intelligent enertainment.

A great discovery!
I wish I had written this book. Fool's Gold is one of the best contemporary novels that I have read. It describes the extremely realistic (or were they) adventures of a NYC family who attempt to rediscover themselves in the South of France by renting a villa that turns out to be right next to a major highway. The chain of events that are described in this witty, funny novel seem totally plausible but tend to point out that our fantasies are never really as exciting as our realities. Don't forget to ponder the last sentence in the book. It will keep you smiling for days. A perfect read.

Fun book, wish it had more recipes and a little more detail
I was pretty well pleased with this book, it has quite a few interesting recipes well worth trying. I've never thought that British cooking (especially what I've had of it)was all that bad, many of these recipes bear that assumption out. I just wish there were more of them because I've seen and heard of dishes not mentioned. I'd also like just a little more detail in the instructions for preparations because I'm not much of a cook.

My Favorite Cookbook
I purchased this book in 1983. I purchased a second, paperback version this year, as my original is well worn (and very well loved). I have used it countless times, cooking my way through most of its recipes. It has never failed me and has provided me with many dishes that are now family classics. It is a true gem--simple to use, charmingly written and fool proof in its results. If you have any interest in British food or British heritage this book is a treasure.

A Secret No More!
I loved British cuisine before I ever had this book. But Jane Gormey uses clear instructions and a generous helping of good humour to make this book a good read even if you never ever use the recipes. That would, however be a mistake. The puddings (desserts) I believe are the best section of the book. The lemon curd is a MUST! Sugggested menus for all occasions, and this book has been invaluable in planning parties and tea. This book doesn't get as much press as "The Two Fat Ladies" and Delia Smith (St. Delia)all of which I own and use frequently, so I guess this book is still a well kept secret that I am more than happy to share.

Excellent beach chair by the ocean book
Visiting Ocean City since I was very small, I found this book very relaxing and entertaing. It took me back to the place my heart will always be, in Ocean City.

A great and fun read
I enjoyed the book immensely. Ms. Kelly's character development and wry sense of humor are both excellent. She obviously knows Ocean City well because her settings are accurate. I hope she has another book out in the near future; I will definitely buy it.

A great combination of mystery and humor
A dead boss, a handsome stranger, and a wacky assortment of co-workers and local characters keep Meg Daniels' vacation at the Jersey shore anything but dull. Meg is both funny and likeable, and her quest to find the murderer(along with intriguing P.I. Andy Beck), salvage her vacation, and stay alive combine for a really absorbing and entertaining page-turner.
